82. "Building a Dream: The Story of Jai Yoga Shala"
In this episode of The Art of Aging Mindfully, I share the incredible journey of creating Jai Yoga Shala, my yoga studio in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Two years ago, I asked myself, "What do I do with my 50s?" That question inspired me to take a leap of faith and dedicate myself to serving a local community instead of returning to the demanding pace of touring.
In this episode, I reflect on:
- The inspiration behind Jai Yoga Shala and why creating a community-centered space felt like the right path for this stage of my life.
- The challenges I faced—like negotiating leases, dealing with unreliable contractors, and navigating licensing processes—and the personal growth that came from overcoming them.
- The beauty of the finished space, which not only aligns with my vision but exceeds my expectations. It has truly become a sanctuary for connection, practice, and growth.
- My hopes and intentions for the future of Jai Yoga Shala, including creating a thriving community and welcoming both in-person and livestream participants into this shared journey.
