Danielle mentioned that the things we are avoiding talking about are often the things we should really be bringing into the light and taking action with. So let's do it together. It is Colon Cancer Awareness month after all.

Are there any colon cancer symptoms we should be looking out for? If you have any changes like bleeding or changes in symptoms - it's important to reach out to your gastroenterology team.

Many people are curious about what colon cancer symptoms to look out for, however it's important to not that many people do not have classic symptoms. So if you are at risk, be sure to get regular colonoscopies and talk with your Gastroenterologist.

Even if you don't have changes or colon cancer symptoms, new guidelines suggest people as young as 45 may need to be screened. If you've got IBD, you'll likely be receiving colonoscopies every 2-3 years or sooner if you are more at risk.

It's a touchy subject for me and many with IBD who live with additional risk - so I won't share all the stats with you on why you want to prevent it. I know like me, you probably already know them.

But here is how we are reducing our risk:
⭐Regular Colonoscopies - THE best way to prevent it and get it early. Get them every 2 years after 10 years of diagnosis or sooner if your GI suggests it.
⭐Check your nutrients! Vitamin D, folate, B12 - book a call with us and we can run them for you.
⭐Get Color & Fiber in the Diet - Eat the RAINBOW® and include fiber.
⭐Start with easy to tolerate varieties like soluble fibers like B2B which includes easy to tolerate prebiotic fiber acacia along with L.plantarum 299v to help reduce bloating and pain.
Don't forget to ease into whatever you try!

We love helping provide quality content on IBD nutrition and making it more accessible to all through our podcast, instagram and youtube channel. Creating the resources we provide comes at a significant cost to us. We dream of a day where we can provide even more free education, guidance and support to those with IBD like us.

We need your support to do this. You can help us by liking episodes, sharing them on your social media, subscribing to you tube and telling others about us (your doctors, friends, family, forums/reddit etc). Can you do this for us? In return, I promise to continually level up what we do here.
