Thriving After Trauma
Hosted by Trauma Transformation & Energy Coach, Jaci Rogash, Thriving After Trauma is a podcast about real life stories of transformation, navigating life and being able to show up in the world as your unapologetic self. We’ll talk about the ups, the downs, the ugly truths and the magical moments that we all experience, but often feel we can’t share, so we can bring to life the importance of having meaningful conversations and embracing our own journey in this crazy thing we call life.

00:00:32
Hi friends, welcome back to Thriving After Trauma.
00:00:36
This week I am completely riffing it.
00:00:40
I'm just, you know, rolling with the punches and speaking to something that has been on my mind, my heart, my soul for a little while now.
00:00:50
I had it as
00:00:53
a episode to do, which I planned on, mapping out and that kind of thing.
00:00:57
And in this season of life, it just doesn't, that felt a bit off for me, which is why I'm talking to intuition and ego.
00:01:04
My ego is telling me or was telling me that you should script this out.
00:01:09
You should make it really potent and powerful and make sure there's lots of key points and factual pieces and, you know, practices that people can walk away with.
00:01:20
My intuition was like,
00:01:22
Speak what's on your heart.
00:01:24
So here I am speaking to what's on my heart.
00:01:29
Intuition versus ego.
00:01:32
Sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference.
00:01:35
Sometimes what we think is intuition is actually ego because we attach what we want to what we should do.
00:01:47
Sometimes
00:01:49
What we think we want isn't actually what we want.
00:01:52
It might be what we used to want.
00:01:55
It might be what someone else tells us we should want.
00:01:59
Could be anything else.
00:02:01
But we can so often get caught in this trap of not connecting with ourselves and not using our intuition.
00:02:10
And so we get lost and guided by our ego.
00:02:15
When I think about ego over intuition,
00:02:18
I, for me, and this is where my ego comes in and is like, you should have looked this up.
00:02:25
I didn't.
00:02:26
To me, ego is operating from my head and operating from the perspective of achievements.
00:02:36
What can I gain?
00:02:38
Why does this serve me?
00:02:40
Why does this support me?
00:02:41
What am I going to get out of it?
00:02:43
What do I need to do?
00:02:46
Right?
00:02:47
Whereas intuition to me is being led and guided by my body, my heart, my soul and also spirit, the universe, something greater than myself.
00:03:09
Not everybody believes that there is something outside of ourselves and for me I just don't believe that.
00:03:17
I couldn't do the work that I do.
00:03:20
I couldn't have the messages and images and wisdom that comes through for both me and my clients if there wasn't something more than just me.
00:03:30
How could I?
00:03:31
Because if it was just me, I would not be connected to anybody else.
00:03:35
So whether you believe in God or spirit or the universe or guides or whatever, totally up to you.
00:03:40
I'm not here to judge.
00:03:43
But when we're listening to our intuition,
00:03:46
Our mind doesn't really play a part.
00:03:48
Our mind helps us do the thing when we hear it or when we feel it or when we sense it, but it's not our intuition.
00:04:00
I also don't want you to think that our mind and body and soul are separate because they're not.
00:04:05
So often when people talk about mindset, it's like just think this and just think that.
00:04:09
You can think anything, but if you're not embodying that thought,
00:04:15
Like it doesn't work, right?
00:04:16
We're not, they're not separate elements.
00:04:18
And sometimes we're a little bit judgy of our mind.
00:04:21
We're very quick to criticize our mind, but our mind does beautiful and brilliant work.
00:04:26
Our mind does absolutely incredible work.
00:04:30
And so does our body.
00:04:32
Lately I've been, I've realized that I have been more in my ego than my intuition for quite a long time.
00:04:44
not from the perspective of what I do but from the perspective of how I've created or how successful I am or what I need to do to move forward.
00:05:00
When I think about my business, I never run a program or host anything or anything like that unless it feels right for me.
00:05:13
But I realized that there has been almost this necessary drive to continue to produce, to continue to put something out, to continue to do things the way that I've always done them, or not always, but for a long time have done them.
00:05:28
And it started to feel a little bit clunky.
00:05:31
It started to feel a little bit off and I convinced myself that, you know, that was just me.
00:05:37
It was just because I had too many balls up in the air.
00:05:40
And
00:05:42
When I got really honest with myself, it wasn't just me.
00:05:45
It was because that wasn't what my intuition was telling me to do anymore.
00:05:52
In this season of life, my intuition isn't telling me to continue.
00:05:57
And this might be, you know, I'm sure there's some business coaches that are going to be like, oh, don't say that.
00:06:03
But my intuition isn't telling me to run monthly masterclasses or isn't telling me to do a membership or isn't telling me to
00:06:10
going on a hard launch for visionaries, my intuition is actually like stay where you are right now, create some space and go deeper.
00:06:23
And what that looks like is I was going to host the unveiling, a three week masterclass series, like a three week container and I cancelled it last minute because it didn't feel right for me.
00:06:38
the people that have signed up were offered something else instead, which I'm really, really excited about and felt so right for me to do that.
00:06:47
And I was going to launch and invite more people into visionaries for this year.
00:06:54
And I'm not.
00:06:55
The people who are already in there are in there.
00:06:58
They can choose whether they remain until the end of the year.
00:07:03
And then maybe, you know, maybe I'll open it up to more people.
00:07:06
I don't know.
00:07:07
But what my intuition and heart were craving was to go back to one-on-one coaching.
00:07:15
Again, I'm sure there's a whole bunch of coaches that are like, don't do one-on-one, you'll burn out, you'll do this, you'll do that, whatever.
00:07:20
In this season of life, it feels so right for me.
00:07:23
It feels so right.
00:07:26
Yes, there are more calls.
00:07:28
So ego would be like, go group because you don't have as many coaching calls.
00:07:33
I love coaching.
00:07:34
I love being on coaching calls.
00:07:37
We play the, if we won, if we won Tad Sotto, if we won Tad Sotto, I would hire all my people to do all of the behind the scenes things and I would just coach every day.
00:07:49
So when people are like, oh no, don't, you know, don't do one on one coach.
00:07:52
and you'll burn out or you'll do this.
00:07:54
I ******* love being on coaching calls.
00:07:57
So I want to do more coaching calls.
00:08:00
But what I found is having the idea of having a bigger group container right now feels for my intuition like too much.
00:08:16
It feels like I wouldn't be able to hold and support that in the way that I would want to.
00:08:22
Whereas when I think about one-on-one coaching, it is us.
00:08:27
It is me and that one other person.
00:08:29
Yes, there is boxes and emails and all kinds of support behind those calls and outside of those calls.
00:08:36
And I will be and am required to switch between clients when I'm doing that and when I'm in there with them.
00:08:44
But that's fun.
00:08:46
That's fun for me.
00:08:47
That feels like
00:08:51
energetically giving me life.
00:08:54
And the one-on-one calls I've been having recently have been ******* phenomenal.
00:08:58
They have been so amazing.
00:09:01
And I want to do more of it.
00:09:03
I want to do more of it.
00:09:06
That's where my intuition is leading me.
00:09:08
And I love that for me.
00:09:10
I really, really do.
00:09:12
And I wonder if you were to get really clear on what is happening in your life right now, where are you being led by ego
00:09:22
over intuition.
00:09:24
I had a conversation with one of my friends from the gym the other day and she has her own business as well and she said I should be doing this and doing that and maybe I want to do this and all of this and then I kind of had to get really honest with myself and realize that I can't do that right now.
00:09:47
I need to take care of my health more than
00:09:50
the financial side of things.
00:09:52
And obviously, if you run a business, you have to be making money.
00:09:55
But it's how, for her, it was like, is it time to hustle or is it time to just steady?
00:10:03
That's one example.
00:10:05
If you're looking at a relationship, you know, if you're questioning a relationship, is your ego telling you to stay because they're good on paper and your intuition telling you maybe not because
00:10:19
paper doesn't make you feel seen.
00:10:25
There are so many ways that we can trick ourselves in thinking that it's our intuition that's telling us what to do or that's guiding us more so when in actual fact it's our ego trying to take control.
00:10:40
You know, if we think about often and we live in a society that loves achievements, that loves tangibles, that loves
00:10:48
actions and results.
00:10:52
That's great for some people.
00:10:54
And you might be in a season where right now you're like, I'm ready to go and I'm ready to achieve and I'm ready to have some results.
00:11:00
Amazing.
00:11:02
As long as you're not attaching your worth or your belief or anything else to those.
00:11:11
As soon as you're doing that, it's ego.
00:11:15
If I achieve this, then it makes me
00:11:19
If I do this, then I'll be successful.
00:11:23
What's your definition of success?
00:11:26
What's your ego's definition of success and what's your heart's definition of success?
00:11:33
And if you're walking with a question or if you're struggling with something at the moment, a really beautiful way to figure out what's right is to ask yourself the question,
00:11:47
from three different parts of your body.
00:11:50
Your head, your heart and your gut.
00:11:55
You might go head, gut, heart, whichever way.
00:11:58
Start with head though.
00:12:00
And an example of this might be, let me think of an example.
00:12:05
If you are, let's say your intuition is telling you that you need to slow down.
00:12:12
When I think about slowing down, what does my head say?
00:12:16
When I think about slowing down, what does my gut say?
00:12:20
When I think about slowing down, what does my heart say?
00:12:25
Those answers will very quickly give you the information you need to determine whether you're answering from your ego or your intuition.
00:12:34
Your intuition is to guide you.
00:12:37
Your intuition is to guide your highest self.
00:12:41
Your intuition is there as
00:12:45
a guiding light for what is right for you in this season.
00:12:51
Your ego is there to be seen.
00:12:53
Your ego is there for significance.
00:12:56
Your ego is there to be acknowledged.
00:12:59
Sometimes what your intuition is guiding you to will not give you acknowledgement or significance and that's where the discomfort comes from.
00:13:13
And if that's a situation you're in, it's a matter of getting really clear on where that stickiness comes from and where that fear of potentially losing someone or having someone disagree with you.
00:13:29
What's that telling you?
00:13:32
What's that making you feel?
00:13:33
What's the fear?
00:13:33
What's the worry?
00:13:35
What's all of the work underneath that?
00:13:39
Intuition over fear.
00:13:40
Never forget your intuition.
00:13:42
And also never stop being in relation with your intuition.
00:13:46
The longer you avoid it or ignore it or don't listen to it, the quieter it is going to become.
00:13:52
And when you need it, it's not going to be there.
00:13:55
It's a relationship.
00:13:56
We build relationships with ourselves.
00:14:00
So please, if you take nothing else away, let your intuition guide you and stay in connection with your intuition.
00:14:10
That's not to say that
00:14:12
you are always going to do what your intuition tells you.
00:14:16
Sometimes it feels too scary initially and you need some time.
00:14:23
We're all human, right?
00:14:26
Sometimes it's scary.
00:14:27
Sometimes it makes no sense.
00:14:30
Sometimes it makes absolutely no sense to do what our intuition is telling us.
00:14:35
But that's the beauty of it.
00:14:38
That's the magic.
00:14:39
It's like, what's next?
00:14:46
That's it.
00:14:47
Intuition over ego.
00:14:49
Intuition versus ego.
00:14:51
What are you listening to?
00:14:53
What are you being guided by?
00:14:56
And what do you actually want?
00:15:00
That's probably the first question.
00:15:02
What do you want and how do you feel?
00:15:05
And what's going to support you the most to get to that place?
00:15:11
Thank you so much for tuning in to Thriving After Trauma.
