Welcome back to the consistency corner podcast. Today we're talking about what sports and marketing strategy have in common. Really why you need the right team and the right playbook. Listen, every team in the NFL plays the same game. They all play football, but not every team makes it to the Superbowl. In fact, 30 teams don't. Why? Because it's not of

just because of the game, like they're all playing the game, the same game, but it's because of the playbook, the coach and the players on the field. And you can have coaches and players who are doing okay on some teams and change things up, trades, people move around and then the magic happens because the combination pulls out everybody's zone of genius and they finally make it to the super.

And my friend, listen, your marketing, it actually works the same way. Everybody is using the same platforms, social media, email, websites. Often we're following similar trends and tactics that other businesses are using. But without the right team in the right roles, with the right playbook, you're never going to get the consistent results that you're looking for.

So today I'm gonna walk you through what sports can teach us about marketing strategy and why building the right team matters so much. And spoiler alert, it's not just about skills. It's also about energy, the vibes, and who you actually want in your corner or your locker room. So let's think about football for a second. If you're not a football fan, just stick with me here. I'm gonna really...

We're gonna try to make this work for everybody, but I am a football fan. also love, love a good sports documentary. So if you have a favorite, send me a DM on Instagram. Let's talk about it. I wanna hear what you're liking. I loved quarterback on Netflix this season. And I'm currently watching The Kingdom, which is all about the history of the Kansas City Chiefs and their journey into the 2024 season. But it's not about what I'm watching on TV. Let's talk about the players.

Ruthie Sterrett (02:24.662)

Josh Allen doesn't play like Jared Goff. If you don't know Josh Allen, quarterback for the Bills, Jared Goff, quarterback for the Lions. They bring completely different skills and strengths to the table. Same thing with tight ends. Travis Kelce plays a different game than George Kittle. Every player based upon their role has their own job to do, but then they each have individual skills that they bring.

to that role. And the success of the team comes down to whether or not the roles are filled by the right people that click with the other people on the team. And in marketing, it's the same thing. You don't just need someone who can post on Instagram. You need a strategist who can see the big picture and how Instagram fits, a creative person who can design and edit, a copywriter who can capture your voice.

and often a community manager who keeps the conversation going and keeps the audience engaged. And that's not to mention the web designers, the email copywriters, the paid ad specialists, all these different people working in concert to get to the big game and win the big game. Let's be honest, that's really the goal, win the Super Bowl. But here's the thing, not every team has the right plays, but the winners, do.

They have the right playbook and they know how to run it. For our team at the consistency corner, that playbook is the 5C framework. It's clarity, the campaign calendar, the actual content, consistency and conversion. And it's the process that we use to guide every decision we make with our clients. When we build out a cornerstone content kit, which is the

actual playbook we hand to you and your team to show up exactly how your message needs to get conveyed. It happens consistently and strategically because if everyone isn't running the same play and understanding what the game plan is, the whole thing will fall apart. But here's another piece that maybe we don't always look at when we're thinking about the playbook is it's also about camaraderie.

and the energy and who you want in that locker room with you. One of my best clients said to me when she hired me, it was because she just loved my energy. And you know what? She was right. Marketing isn't just about best practices and CTAs and hooks and funnels. It's about energy and working with a team that clicks.

with your vibe and your energy and that you actually want in your corner. And because we specialize in brands that serve moms, we get it. Like we want to work with brands that are helping moms or founders who are moms and are passionate about moms building businesses. We understand your mission. We understand your audience and we're in it with you. We actually want to hang out with you. Like this is the team where you belong. So

If every business is playing the same game of visibility, connection, and conversion, what's different about the ones who win? They're the ones with the right playbook and the right team running it. Because like I said, all those NFL players, all those 32 teams, they're all playing football, but they're not all playing football at the same level with the same results. And nobody is doing it by themselves, right?

You can't be the one who is calling the plays, being the quarterback, being the coach, being the kicker and the water girl all at the same time. Just like you can't be a scaling CEO who is serving your clients, protecting your energy, developing new products, planning for the future of your business and staying on top of social media trends, algorithms, writing captions and creating graphics in Canva.

It's too much for one person to do on their own for very long. So you deserve a team that knows the game, knows your fan base, your audience, and has the playbook to bring it all together. I am inviting you today to bring us into your corner so we can run the plays that take you to the end zone.

Ruthie Sterrett (07:07.118)

So here's the deal. The winners are the ones with the right playbook and the right players and the right energy on and off the field. And you deserve that in your corner. If you're ready to bring in a strategic partner, check out the Corner Office. This is the agency arm of the Consistency Corner. And learning more about working with the Corner Office is your first step to building the team that will take your marketing off your to-do list and into

championship territory. If you want to dive deeper into that playbook itself, listen to the delegation download, which is our private podcast where we break down the 5C framework and everything that's included in our cornerstone content kit and get yourself a roadmap to build the right team and the right playbook. Whether it's the consistency corner or another strategic partner, I want you to have that game plan because I am cheering you on and I want your mission.

to be amplified. I want you to be able to serve the clients that you're meant to serve and do the work that you are called to do because I know you were here put on this earth for a reason. And unfortunately, the whole like myth of if you build it, they will come is just that it's a myth. If you build it and you market it, they will come. And so I want you to have the playbook to do that. And you don't have to do it alone. You don't have to play this game alone.

I'm here to help you build a winning team and I'm already in your corner cheering you on. Thank you so, so much for being here today, my friend. Come back for our next episode and send me a DM on Instagram. Tell me who you're cheering for this NFL season. I am playing fantasy football for the first time in 10 years and so I'm cheering for lot of different people. I'm cheering for who's ever going to get me points in my fantasy team. And if you're a college football girl, I know I use a lot of NFL.

analogies today. But if you're a college football girl, tell me who you're for there. You know I'm cheering for the Purdue Borla makers. Although I don't have high hopes, know, we've pretty mediocre over there. Basketball is our thing. But same EDM, let's talk football and I'm cheering you on and we'll see you in the next episode.
