Roadmap To Wellness Kickoff
Start the year with a plan that actually fits your life. We’re kicking off our Roadmap to Wellness by helping you design a personalized route across seven dimensions—physical, mental, social, financial, environmental, and spiritual—so you can make steady progress you’re proud of. Think of it as a choose-your-own-adventure for health: pick the stops, set your speed, and celebrate each milestone without chasing perfection.
We share what’s returning and what’s new. From March into May and weekly fitness classes to nutrition workshops, mindfulness sessions, and stress relief webinars, there’s a mix for every schedule. Social connection gets its due with guided hikes, volunteer opportunities, parent support groups, and family-friendly events like ice skate night. Financial wellness isn’t left out—we outline budgeting workshops, savings strategies, coaching, and retirement planning that demystify money decisions and reduce stress. Environmental wellness shows up through sustainability challenges and practical workspace improvements, while spiritual wellness resources help you find focus, balance, and meaning.
To build a route that lasts, start with the WellSteps Personal Health Assessment. That private snapshot reveals high-impact next steps and anchors a plan you can stick to. Then customize with 20+ challenges—fruit and veggie boosts, hydration goals, stress reset practices, self-care streaks—or create your own and invite colleagues. We’re also adding walking art tours to make movement more inspiring and bringing therapy animals to campus for calm, connection, and a quick reset. Cap it off with a vision board workshop to turn intentions into daily cues and momentum.
We want to hear from you. Share ideas, feedback, and milestones on our pages and at events to help shape the year and motivate others. Subscribe, share this episode with a teammate, and leave a quick review so more colleagues can design a roadmap that works for them.
Hi, listeners. This is Sadie Mae, and I'm here with Brittany Perry. And together we're hosting the first episode of your 2026 Employee Wellness Wellcast, your go-to spot for tips and updates to help you live your healthiest, happiest life both at work and at home. We're excited to kick off our wellness journey this year.
SPEAKER_00:This year, our wellness theme is roadmap to wellness. Think of it like planning a trip, which is so exciting. A wellness isn't just a single destination, it's a journey. And just like a good road trip, having a map, knowing your stops, and celebrating milestones along the way makes the trip so much more fun and meaningful. What does that roadmap to wellness mean for you? Well, it's all about exploring seven dimensions of wellness that cover the whole you, mind, body, and spirit. Over the year, we're going to be focusing on activities, resources, and challenges that help you navigate each area, whether that's physical health, mental well-being, social connections, financial fitness, or living in harmony with your surroundings. And here's the exciting part.
SPEAKER_01:Just like any good road trip, you get to choose your route. You can engage in programs, challenges, or even activities that resonate most with you. But we'll also be offering pit stops along the way, including some fun events, workshops, and opportunities for you to check in with your wellness goals. So let's talk about some examples of what's coming up this year. Of course, for physical wellness, we're bringing back your favorite event of the year, March into May. Woo! Yes! And this year, captain registration opens in mid-January. So be sure to mark your calendars. That's a couple weeks earlier than last year. And then in addition for physical wellness, we'll be offering nutrition workshops, fitness classes, and then some well steps challenges to help you stay active throughout the year. And if you're somebody whose route is mental wellness, you can participate in mindfulness workshops. We'll be hosting sound baths. And then, of course, we'll have stress management webinars. And then if you're somebody who is a social butterfly and really values those social connections, we'll have events just for you. Some guided hikes and walks. We'll have group volunteer opportunities. We have a parent support group. And then, of course, we'll have some fun family-friendly events like our ice skate night and our March into May celebration.
SPEAKER_00:It sounds so much fun. And we're so excited to be bringing those to you. And don't you worry, we are not forgetting the other dimensions of wellness. So let's talk about financial wellness. We'll be providing budgeting workshops, tips on saving, financial coaching, and even resources to help you plan for retirement. For some other dimensions of wellness, for environmental, you'll see initiatives like recycling challenges, sustainability tips, and ways to improve your home or workspace environment. For spiritual wellness, there will be resources to help you find balance, purpose, and mindfulness in your everyday life.
SPEAKER_01:We want to emphasize that this isn't a one-size-fits-all journey. Wellness, it looks very different for everyone. And that's the beauty of it. So your roadmap is yours to create. You can take detours, you can stop for longer pit stops, explore new routes as you go. You can see we're really getting into this theme and the puns that go along with it. But the most important part is just staying engaged and celebrating your progress along the way. Every little step counts.
SPEAKER_00:And speaking of celebration, we'll be highlighting milestones throughout the year. This is an important part of our health and wellness. Maybe you hit every step goal, you tried a new meditation practice, or you attended your first wellness workshop. These are all reasons to celebrate. Sharing your successes, whether you count them big or small, helps motivate others and helps build a sense of community around you as we all navigate this wellness journey together. We'd love for you to share your wellness journeys with us and with others on our Facebook page or the Well Steps social page. Your stories and your activities can inspire and motivate not only your social circle around you, but perhaps an employee participant that you've never met before. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01:And we also want you to get involved by providing feedback to us, sharing your experiences, suggesting new activities. Your ideas really help us shape the program. So you'll see announcements and emails. You can put comments in the Well Steps app. And even at our in-person events, we would love to hear from you and to stay connected with your experiences.
SPEAKER_00:So let's stay connected and talk about what's next. Start thinking about your roadmap. Take this as an opportunity and a moment to identify some areas where you want to focus your energy this year. A great place to start is completing your personal health assessment. We also referenced this as a PHA in Well Steps. It's a confidential questionnaire that evaluates your overall health and lifestyle habits. This is designed to give you a snapshot of your current wellness status and provide areas of improvement for you that perhaps you didn't see before. It also serves as a foundation for creating your wellness roadmap this year.
SPEAKER_01:And another great feature of Well Steps is the ability to customize your wellness journey by participating in the challenges. So you can hop on the trail anytime during the year. There's 20 different challenges to choose from. There's everything from fruit and veggie boosts, there's stress relief challenges, hydration goals, there's challenges on self-care, and lots more. So you can even create your own custom challenge if there's not one that resonates with you. You can set the topic and you can invite others to join you or blaze the trail solo. Challenges are also a fun way to personalize your wellness journey and make it another meaningful step for you while also earning some wellness points.
SPEAKER_00:Yes, we want to make sure that you guys hear us and understand when we are saying that your wellness journey is fully customizable to you. That is the point of this next year is establishing your roadmap is all about finding things that are meaningful to you and then participating in those. So let's talk about some new exciting stops along the trail to look forward to to add to your journey. So we're going to be offering some walking art tours. So you have the opportunity to take a scenic detour through local art while getting your steps in. We're also going to be bringing therapy animals more consistently to our workplaces. So you have an opportunity to stop in and rest your mind and your heart, bringing calm and furry joy. Who does not want that? And then we're also going to be doing an activity in the beginning of this year talking about our wellness vision board. This is going to be a workshop that will be available to you to customize your personal waypoint to map out goals and intentions for the year. And of course, you'll be seeing many more workshops, challenges, and adventures to guide you along your wellness journey. You can explore and register for events and activities on our website. Our website is just the saltlakecounty.gov backslash employee wellness. So remember, the roadmap to wellness is about progress, not perfection.
SPEAKER_01:So buckle up, map out your route, and get ready for a year of a wellness adventure. Again, be on the lookout for emails so you can learn about what vents and resources are available to you. So you can hit every stop on your roadmap. Thanks for tuning in today. Stay healthy, stay curious, and remember wellness is a journey, not a destination. So enjoy every stop along the way.
