Don't Fear The Code Brown and Don't Forget To Stretch!

Eric (00:00)
What's up everybody and welcome to episode 194 of the On the Runs podcast and I'm back from the Big Apple baby. New York City did not disappoint. The energy was electric and the city showed up for almost 60,000 runners on the most B-E-A-utiful day for the largest marathon in the world. I can't wait to talk all about and spare no details. But first, before I do any of that, I must say hello to my kick-ass Rock Starver co-hosts.

Six star Erica, what's up?

so incredibly proud of you and I cannot wait to hear what you have to say about NYC. All I know is that you did it right by social media. Nice work. Yes. Very nice work. I had a standard to live up to after Chicago. Yeah, the bar is going to lower itself now because we have no more majors on the books. yeah, but hey, nice job. You can do it at your own rate. You just need to keep practicing. I do. I do. You said it here.

And then I said it here, it's now for you to go a little more. And try to reach that. just this weekend I was posting my Yeti 100 pics? So that's like a month and a half late. So that's what you guys can expect from me. Just late posts all the time. Well, you know, just like a triathlon, you just gotta try. Touche, touche. But hey, how are ya? ⁓ did you hear that? Who's on the pod? Sorry. I couldn't help myself. course we got, we have an awesome collab this week. We have...

the Ali G on the pod today. Actually, are we on your pod? You're on our pod. We're just like pod. I think it's like an amalgamation of two pods. Is that the right word? That is a great word. I feel like it is. The thing was Ali for all years, like I want to have your recap and I'm like, absolutely I will. But then I couldn't make you mad and not give you the opportunity. And then I was just like, let's do a collab. We'll do both. And

Somebody's not here and that person is my sister because I didn't want to like overshadow her day She's actually she can't even jump on right now. We can't even call her She's at some Broadway show or something, right? So she's gonna get her own episode next week and I don't know like do I? Question her did the two of you jump on and do it. We'll figure that out. But ⁓ she'll be on next week You can hear everything but this is gonna be my recap

because Erica was just saying how she's disappointed. She didn't get to finish her Chicago, but you've done like 28 recaps throughout the history of this podcast. I've done one. got it. We got to get you doing more races. That's what we got to do. We got to give you a reason to do more recap. I don't need to brag about every race. Why not? People like to hear it. Yeah, you should. I feel like you're going to start now that you have New York under your belt.

A world major Eric now or something, I don't know. One star, one star Eric. I know. One star Eric. Come on, let's get more, let's get more. You can always come back on my pod and finish your Chicago marathon recap. There I love that. You know that. you go. Thank you, Allie. See, she's got my back. You have missed that a little bit. Chicago was like a month ago now. Well, okay, Eric, you know what? Give everyone their moment.

I was actually the reason why Erica had to cut her short. So there's a little part of me that feels a little guilty. No, you had good reason and I don't blame you. For good reason. Shout out Dan Foley. Shout out Dan Foley. Great episode. Great track. I don't even know what to call my own pod. Your road to the five bureaus was incredible. Like, let's talk about that real quick. Like that was so much fun. Like we kind of came up with a let's do some type of series like how we do Boston Weeks.

but you did the road to the five bureaus and it was so cool. You had on a volunteer, a first timer, New York City experienced runner, and then you had Dan as well. And you're gonna, it's not over, you're gonna have some recaps. love it. Gonna have some recaps, it's gonna be good. was a lot of was one of those where I texted Eric at like probably midnight and I was like, I have this idea. And then I just kept firing things off at him. Like 20 text messages later, I finally came up with the name and yeah, You know he lives for that.

I Sometimes I'm like expecting him to not answer and then he's like, yo, I'm like, what? How are you awake? Yeah. But anyways, all right. You two are the hosts of this show. You two run the show. I don't know. You can fight over who's host number one and who's co-host, but you- Erika's host number one always. Oh no, no way. And I'll be co-host. I will happily step aside as co-host. What do you want to know? Well, fine. Let's dig into this because we know, or at least if you were following Eric's

well, on the run social media, you got sick right before the race. So why don't you talk about a little bit about what happened to you and how you were feeling? Well, actually, I didn't get sick right before the race. I was fortunate when I got sick, right? So let's fast forward to the week of the race Monday. Monday, Adeline got sick at dance. And that was at like 6 p.m., right? And I pick her up from dance.

And they say, because I'm not allowed to go into this particular dance, right? And they take her out, they bring her to me, and the instructor walks to the car, which is unusual. So I'm like, she probably fell or hit her head or something. They go, no, she got sick and she threw up. And they go, we think she's fine, but you know, just wanted to let you know. And I'm like, OK, cool. Thanks for letting me know. The next morning, all three kids were sick. And then later that afternoon, I felt it coming. And it wasn't pretty. Listen.

The worst time in the world for this bug to go through the house again. Remember this happened last January too. And I got sick. I was up all night Tuesday. Wednesday was a rough day. And I had, I did eat a little, but I had no appetite. I was up all night Wednesday. The kids finally got better though on Wednesday. So I was like 12 to 24 hours behind them. Gotcha. And then Thursday I slept till noon and I started to feel a lot better.

But like, yeah, I had no appetite. I was extremely gassy. I was, you know, just, I was dry. I was, I was empty. The tanks were empty. So not the best time because you had to carb load. Like this was a time when you need to hydrate. You need to eat well. And you were having none of that. Well, the good news is I kept drinking and I was having like, you know, I was hydrating with, ⁓ and just everything you need to hydrate with. So.

The tank was getting full with liquid fuel, but it was dumping it out rapidly. And yeah, it was just like, knew, I'll tell you this, I debated it a little bit, do I delay a day and go to New York City on Saturday, but I knew I was gonna be better. And I was like, thank God this didn't hit me on Thursday, because it would have been disaster the whole weekend. And did you hear like, Allie, we were talking about this like 10,000 people actually got sick at the village. Yeah, I heard.

And this is just from TikTok and Instagram. I opened it up immediately. I was kind of, I mean, I didn't run, but I was kind of out of the loop on socials because I was working and trying to find Eric, obviously. And I opened up my social media and the first thing I saw on TikTok was that like 10,000 runners were throwing up in the start village. That like the Porta Potty's were like straight, like straight diarrhea, spare no details, and vomit.

And like everybody was posting about how some stomach bug must have been running through the city because I guess people like and then I was thinking about this and I'm like, OK, well, they didn't just like get the stomach bug from somebody else in the village. They obviously came here and got it or they were ill before and like it was like the lead up. So, I think you really lucked out. Not that I wanted you to go through what you think. I brought the stomach bug and gave it to everyone in the expo. Could I? I I did say that to you on whatever we talked last.

He is patient zero. You brought it to the Peloton Shakeout, and then you brought it to the Expo, and then you brought it to race day. You know what? I'll say and watch like, I find out later this isn't true, but I was with my sister the entire time and she never got sick, so I don't think I brought it. No, you I think I was in the clear. We just have to bust our balls about it. Yeah. Well, you know, I can say sorry, but you know, I never saw anyone puking or shit in at the Village.

I mean, we're getting way ahead here. We're going to the race day in the village. I didn't see any of that. saw like, guys, you don't need to piss on the porta potties. There was so much piss on the porta potty seats. I'm like, we all are here for the same thing, right? Like just pee in the urinal spot. Why is there piss on the seat? Like, just sit on the fricking toilet, you guys. Like, you're to be dirty enough anyway. It doesn't matter. Come on. Yeah. You're going to hopefully take a shower. Yeah.

It's not a big deal. Just sit down. Right, right. So anyways, I got sick and I was really fortunate. I felt a lot better Thursday. I started packing. I started doing social media again. I started like going through my checklist. I forgot one thing. I packed everything. Okay. But I forgot one thing. Was this like super important thing? No, it wasn't important. It was more for like recovery and also maybe

Did you forget your Firefly? I didn't forget my Firefly. I forgot the power supply to the Norma Tech boots. no. I remember the Norma Tech boots and the hose. I left the power supply charging and I forgot that. no. So besides that, I'm in the clear. got it Rookie mistake, Eric. You need to become... It is my first major. Now that you're a one-star, Eric.

You need to become, you need to get better. from this. Learn from this. Yeah, you have to learn from this mistake. And you know what? The thing was like, Hannah talked me into driving because I can take more with me. I'm like, you know what? You're right. I ultimately regret driving into the city. I'm totally taking the train next time because it's just beautiful. But I packed everything. I'm like, cool, cool, cool. And I just know I got to get that when I wake up in the morning. And the thing was, I like allowed myself to sleep in a little more Friday.

because I knew I needed the rest and recovery and the sleep felt so good. Originally I was going to like wake up at 5.30 and leave at 6. Well, I woke up at 7.30 and left at like quarter of 8. How would I realize when I was 20 minutes down the road too? What a bummer. I still had to eat in a couple days. I just started eating Friday too, finally. Yeah, I wanted to, can we backtrack there for a second? So you only had liquid electrolytes, so you get sick.

you're only drinking electrolytes or Pedialyte. Like what was the first thing you had? Did you even, were you even thinking about carb loading? Because all power to you, like when I have a stomach bug, I can't, it's like a solid two weeks before I'm eating, like not like a child. Like I'll eat like grilled cheese every night, cause it's basic. Were you like, yeah, I mean, I eat that way now, girl dinner. Yeah, was there ever a moment where you're like, holy shit, I have to get carbs in or were you just,

I wasn't worried about it. I had a bagel sandwich every morning and then I grabbed a McDonald's breakfast bagel sandwich Friday morning and I got like extra hash browns and and a snack but Tuesday Wednesday, I just had bagel and That was that was it. That was it. Like I know I wasn't thinking Carb load. I was thinking hydrate though. Mm-hmm. Like I had the IV sticks like a liquid IV

Right, and I would do that, but I was never thinking carb load, because I thought, okay, once I get better and have an appetite, I can do that more. But to fast forward, Friday when we had dinner, I didn't even eat a lot of pasta. I was just like, no, I kind of felt like, oh, I only needed a little bit to fill myself. I really needed more. What else you got? So I want to know, you were saying that you were debating, I stay home until Saturday?

But you got to stick to your original plan and go in on Friday. So tell us how Friday was only worried about Hannah getting like, don't come if you're sick. Yeah. Because she doesn't want to get sick. I remember her on Sunday saying, I made it. I didn't get sick. She actually got norovirus like six weeks ago. like her goal wasn't to get sick either. so I was more concerned actually about getting her sick than me being sick myself. So when did you actually make it into the city?

I drove in Friday morning, I went straight to Brooklyn where there's a running store called Backline. I ordered a t-shirt. heard of that. No, never heard of it either. I found them on Google, no, on Instagram. And I saw this Instagram post of these runners wearing these dark blue running shirts that said New York on them. And I just thought that's my shirt for the race. So I ordered it online, showed up to the store wearing sweatpants.

and a ski patrol hoodie. And I think they looked at me like, who's this, who's this hillbilly? And I said, I got an order for a t-shirt and it was an XL. And they're like, is that gonna fit you? They did not say that. No, they did not say thank God. But I, you know, I went in with like UFO sandals, sweatpants and my big ski patrol hoodie because I just drove.

Five hours. like a runner to me. mean, come on. Yeah. Did not look like a runner. And they looked at me probably with like a couple of heads thinking, who's this guy? He's probably picking up a shirt for a friend. I got the shirt. And then I made like a seven mile journey that took like 40 minutes to go from back line to my sister's in Queens. And I think, guess I've been saying for 194 episodes now that she lives in Brooklyn, she doesn't. She lives in Queens. Whoops. So I had that wrong for the last.

Many years. Nice job. Bad traffic day to find out that she actually lives in Queens, not Brooklyn. Well, I didn't even know it was Queens when I got there. She corrected me at one point because I think I made a story post. I'm like, I made it to Brooklyn. She goes, we're not in Brooklyn. Well, at you figured it out eventually. Yeah. But no, I got there around noon. Call it noon, I got to my sister's. We had an expo time of like two to four maybe. So I was in no hurry. I wanted to leave early for

the backline part because it was like if I went to Hannah's first and then we did the expo and everything, I guess we're kind of going out of our way to go to backline at any other point. So I was just like, I'm going to go to backline first. And by the way, check out backline, use the code AllieG for what, 15, 20, 25 % off Allie, what is it? I think it's 15. 15. I got my AllieG discount on the shirt. So check that out. But I took care of that first so Hannah didn't have to like take me.

in the wrong direction, because it's not in the right direction from the Expo, which is like maybe a 20 minute subway ride. I kept calling it the T the whole time. no. Was Hannah upset? No, she never made. I don't think she ever did. Tell tourist without telling me you're a tourist. Yeah, like that's come on, Eric. Well, that's why I'm a Bostonian. I'm a Boston guy.

But no, it was exciting. got there, met Hannah, we parked, and then she was so excited. I was excited, it was cool, it was fun, it was a beautiful day. The whole weekend was beautiful. And we headed into the Expo. That was our time. We went into the Expo and I got to see my first world major Expo and it was fun. So you gotta tell me more about this Expo because if it's anything like Chicago's, it was a total shit show.

but yours actually looked fun. mean, you got to do some, like take some of the pictures with the like iconic stuff in the background. I didn't want to wait in those lines. So tell me all the stuff that you did. Like how cool was it? Well, it was fun. And Erica, I guess, you know, this is a first-class marathon. What are you saying like Millenium running first class. you know, I can't speak for Chicago, but you know, this was first class. And this was in this beautiful, what's the name of it, Allie? It's the Javits Center.

And we were able to walk right up to like, they had hundreds of the spots where you go get your bibs. We were able to walk right up. Thank God I had my sister because I need a personal assistant. She told me to look for an email on like the 14th of October. They had to scan that QR code. I got my bib. It was kind of uneventful, but it was at the same time, like just super easy and no waiting in lines. And then we went through the New Balance store. It was like, I think it was all New Balance.

I didn't buy anything, maybe my only regret, so you two can go online and buy me a hoodie or a t-shirt or something if you want to. We'll start a GoFundMe for your swag Yeah, your New York City Marathon swag. I wish maybe I bought some stickers. They would have been some overpriced stickers. I am wearing my Finisher's jacket, which, thank you Chelsea, by the way. I got this before. So Chelsea's husband works at New Balance, and we got a big discount, like 40%. nice.

I wasn't gonna put it on and when Jenna gave it to me, because she gave it to Jenna, Jenna gave it to me, these are people on my force team, she goes, you need to try it on. I'm like, no, it's like the Stanley Cup, you need to earn it. I can't touch it until I finish the race. Well, I'm glad I did because it was an XL, it's huge. Eric, remember I called you, did a video time, like, is this too big? It was kind of a fun phone call though, because I felt like you were kind of the girl and you were like, does this look good on me?

Like, is it flattering? Is this cute? I was having fun. Well, does it feel comfortable on you? Do you feel like I'm asking him all these questions? I'm glad you finally to look stupid in my photos. I want to have a jacket that fits me well. And maybe like I'm a large now. Well, that one looks great on you, Eric. Thank you. Thank you very much. So she I called Chelsea and I'm like, Chelsea, this is huge, but I'm afraid to exchange it for a large and then be like, it's too small.

and then ask for an XL again. She goes, why don't we just order a large? And then you have both, you try them on, we'll return the one that we don't want. And I'm like, wow, it's amazing. So thank you so much, Chelsea and her husband for hooking me up. This jacket's awesome. So I did get a jacket, it's the finisher jacket. And I'm pretty excited about that. So yeah, Expo, here's how I compare it. I was there for Hannah. This was Hannah's first marathon.

Watching her take everything in reminded me of me 10 years ago taking in the Iron Man expose, taking in everything and getting so excited and be like, we need to get a photo of this and we need to try on this hat and we need to have this finisher jacket where now I could just be like, let's go get a bib, let's go find her name on the wall. I don't even care about that so much anymore where I did with Iron Man. And let's like scan the place really quick and then get out of there. Maybe like see if there's anyone famous or something.

any cool photo ops, but I would never wait in these lines. With Hannah, we did wait in the lines. We waited in so many lines, but the cool part was, I think we hit it again at the perfect time. The lines weren't that bad. The staff there was incredible taking photos. We actually got to talk to some people in the expos. We went to the Salt Stick Expo. We met this girl, her name was Brittany. She has a podcast actually. It's a dog podcast called

like canine adventure or canine something to see. she's an ambassador just like you at Salt Stick, but she traveled from Florida to work the Salt Stick Expo. She was actually the Salt Stick mascot. no shit. For a little bit of time. And then I didn't even realize, but she ran the marathon. Nice. Okay, good. I'm glad she came up for more than one reason. Right. So we met her, we, we, Hannah took it all in really, I was just a part of it.

I got to take a, we had the perfect like combo. Hannah would walk in and get a picture. And then I would walk in, we would do the picture together. And then she would walk out, I'd get mine. Instead of like me go, she go, then we both. So we kind of like, cause we're cautious of everyone's time, I think. We had it down to a science. It was super fun. But yeah, was so fun seeing her. honestly, and I didn't care, we spent three hours in the expo. Well, good. I'm glad, I'm really glad that you

Even though you said it's more for Hannah than for you, but I'm glad that you got to do these things too, because it is your first major, and that is special. And I think you should spend the time and soak everything in, take the pictures, wait in the lines. It's worth it, definitely worth it. Yeah, the only downfall is when I do go to Chicago one day, my expectations are high now. Really high. And if you said it was a shitso.

Well, I think I just picked the time when everybody else was going there too. Same. I did the same. Yeah. You just picked the perfect time and it just happened to work out. But let me just tell you, the lines to pick up the bib were just like New York City where you were in and out and then you went into everything else and you're like, Oh my God, what's going on? not too shabby. think it's more so that like the lines from the stores all

Like when you walk in, like it's just lines at the store. And you don't know what people are waiting in line for. Right, you're just like, are you waiting for a picture? Are you waiting for this? Are you waiting for that? And then you have to get your shirt. There's just a bunch of different, you know, a bunch of different lines. So it can feel overwhelming. But I am really glad to echo Erica. Yeah, there was maybe a little bit of that, but not as bad. And we would just quickly ask the question or something. I think the most confusing part was when we were trying to find our way out of the store.

because you have to walk through, I mean, they do it perfectly. You have to walk through the store to get to the rest of the expo. And they had a special exit line just for anyone who wasn't gonna buy anything. But it was a little hard to find because they perfectly placed it where you have to walk through the whole store. It was like in Ikea. You ever go to an Ikea? No, can't go to the checkout without walking through everything. They know how to do it. That is perfect product placement. And they sell you on everything at the checkout.

Right, so we checked everything out. was, it was, like I said, maybe, I don't have many disappointments over this whole weekend, but maybe I should have bought another t-shirt or something. But whatever, not a big deal. I did bring like $300 cash, and my goal was not, you know, like that's all the cash I have to spend. I think I came back with $200, and the money was spent on groceries when we went to the grocery store, and maybe a hot dog at a hot dog stand or something.

⁓ That was when I started eating actually. I got there. I was like, I'm so hungry. I need something quick. I got a hot dog Wow Okay, so that was all that was all Friday. Yeah. Well, that's just Friday like daytime I'm ready to two things about the expo two people I met so everybody knows who Casey Neistat is right? Yeah, of course But who's obsessed with Casey where you actually know who his running coach is you? Right

As I'm waiting for Hannah to come out of the bathroom, she comes out and as I'm watching her walk by, I catch her walk by this guy sitting by himself and my head's like watching Hannah then just turns back to the guy. His name is Roberto. I'm not gonna try his last name, but I know exactly who he is and I said, on Hannah, I wanna go say hi to this guy, because he's sitting by himself, no one was talking to him, it was at one of the stages, he's just on his phone and I went over and said, Roberto.

And he looks at me and goes, how you doing? And I go, this is so cool. You have no clue who I am, but I know who you are. And he chatted with me for like 10 minutes. It was a lot of fun. I'm like, not only that, you know who else he coaches? He coaches Rob Similcare. Oh, sweet. No way. How do you know all this stuff? just put it out there. That's so random.

So I had to bring up Casey's video from the marathon last year. So he paces Casey during the New York City Marathon. And last year, he was the guy who got run over by the lady with the sharpening cart trying to cross the street. You remember that? No way. Wait, that was he got run Yes. Oh, was him? Yes, at mile 19. It's all over YouTube. Like, I'll find the video and link it or something. I gotta see this. Not that I have to link it to Erica. It's crazy. I don't want anybody to get hurt, but that is insane.

That is crazy. Speaking of that, like the people running across the street, like it was a fun game. Like I could have taken some people worst time to cross the street? I don't think there is a good time to cross the street during that race. No, definitely not. There was at least 50 people I saw do it. And it was, it was interesting how they did it because like maybe a family would do it. They would send one kid at a time. It was, they had strategy. So one kid would get in there. It was so funny. Like to get like pummeled.

And then when that kid gets to the end, the next kid goes and the dad's like, okay, you go now. That's insane. That's insane. It was wild. It was wild. You guys, know you've seen the videos, you know, I don't know what to call them, but you know, the area of New York where this happens, it was so many of them. Like I was like, just don't knock over any kids. Yeah. And, a lot of times it was parents with like a baby in a carriage. I was like, geez, man, man, why like.

Why are you taking this chance? I'm not gonna lie though, like if it's an adult and I clip you, like that's on you. I don't care about if I hit You're across a marathon. Come on. I'm not gonna do, I would never if it was a child, but an adult, you're a fully functioning adult. I actually think this is a problem and I think probably the city or NYR have actually taken an approach to it because they actually had areas that would be taped in...

the police would go, okay, if you need to cross the street, you go to this square. And they would fill the square and the police would slowly shuffle people across the street and they would direct us runners around them with string, like caution tape or something. I was like, it was actually, so this is obviously a problem and they've addressed it. there was, this was all on the Manhattan side where I saw there was like,

strategy with the police and the city to do it. Not at all on the Brooklyn side on fourth half. well, Brooklyn's tough because the median, you know, like you're running on both sides of the street. So you can't really, which I thought was a problem because you were on the wrong side of the median for me. I had to cross that median. But yeah, you did. I was like, listen, hold on. That's on you, Eric, because I posted and texted and I'm pretty sure I talked to you and I said runners left.

Oh no, I knew the whole time you were on the runners left, but my bib, I was on the right. And there was the entire way, there was a rope. So I had to undercut a rope to get to the left. Just a rope. Okay, well then I'm honored that you crossed the rope for me. Hannah too. Well, I'm jealous you guys got to see each other. How was that? It's the only time I got to see her. I didn't get like, you think I'm in New York City, I would get to hang out with Ali G. You'd think I'd go to DC when she's in DC, I would get to hang out with Ali G.

But I never got to see her. The only time I saw her was what you saw. And there's many people I didn't get to see that I want to see. So it's fine. You can't expect to see them all, especially because I wasn't staying in this city when I do this again. I'm staying in the city. 100%. That's you a lot of money. A lot of money. You should just stay in Jersey and leave from MetLife. So much easier. But no, I want to see people in the city. Well, you can go in and out.

Well, I could I could do that from Queens. Maybe the right thing to Eric. I know Eric knows best. Just stay in the city and spend your 300 300 dollars times three per night. Actually, it's probably more like 500 dollars depending on where those sponsors at. Yeah. We got a very world major. Like, why are you worried about money? The two of you don't have kids. You don't have responsibilities. Well, I.

I gotta do some saving up if you know I mean yeah, this is not your episode to drop breaking news ⁓ Erica can you drop your breaking news to me later? save it. Yeah. yeah, you're in on it. I'll tell you okay great We'll say thank you. Somebody else knows too by the way. Are you telling people my news actually? I've told a couple of people but I told someone pretty cool your news. ⁓ Maybe next time next time you get a shout out pay attention. We'll talk about it. Okay cool

I want you to be surprised. think I know who it is. Let's get back on track you guys Eric post expo Yeah, about Friday night. Will you we've only asked you? Yeah only mentioned The coolest shakeout run ever. Yeah, it was cool So well, I was jealous of your shakeout run in Chicago. Mm-hmm. Is that looked epic? Was that an official peloton shakeout run? It was okay. Yes, so

Josh Vernon, yourself, a few others all sent me this Peloton run. I hesitated because I didn't know what our plan was. I didn't know what Hannah had planned. And then when Hannah said, can do it, she's not, I was like, do I not do this? Like, I decided to do it. I signed up. Hannah brought me from the expo to the Peloton run and she dropped me off. She goes, this is where I leave you and this is how you get back. You need to take this train, one, the seven, all this. I'm like,

Eric you have to go on the T. The T, yeah. Go ask the New Yorkers. How do I get home? Did I call it the T again? No, no, no, I was just joking. I was making fun of So, went to this Peloton run and I'll tell you what, Janine mentioned this, like sometimes when I'm by myself I do really well and then sometimes when I'm by myself in a crowd like this, I'm really kind of quiet, reserved, shy, right? And so I'm waiting, like I know where Josh and Janine are.

They're near the finish line at the Grand Ceremony, which is like 100 feet from me, but I can't get there because of barricades. So I take a picture and show Josh where I am. And I'm thinking they're gonna come and get me. And time goes by, and then they open the doors to this Peloton thing, and I'm like, where's Josh and Janine? Where are they? Come and get me. I don't wanna walk in by myself. And then he goes, I'm already inside.

He got like special access through the back, through all his Peloton buddies. goes, yeah, I'm inside. So I finally go in. Funny, I meet this one lady when I'm in there, because they're talking about bag check and I'm talking to her. Come to find out later, she's a pretty big deal. And I talk to her later and I'll tell you about that. But I go into the Peloton thing. I find Josh and Janine. I see Dan Foley. I'm so excited to see Dan Foley. I'm jealous.

And figuring things out, Josh is not running, but Janine's gonna run. So Janine and I warm up together. Bex gets everybody warmed up. Janine and I are in the back. She's all talking about this one Peloton instructor named Jeffrey. I've never heard of him. He goes, I love Jeffrey. We're gonna run with Jeffrey. We're gonna do everything with Jeffrey. ⁓ They had colored like the wristbands that light up, right? We had to get the right color. And we're talking like, how long is this run gonna be? We're thinking.

probably a 5K, maybe like three to three and a half miles and we both go, ⁓ two miles would be like chef's kiss. And when Bex goes, we're gonna do a two mile shakeout run, Janine and I were just like, Let's fucking go! Yes! We were so excited. So we went with Jeffrey's crew and I was totally fine with that because Bex's crew, Bex did not run with her crew. We ran this two mile like,

out in back loop in Central Park. I was feeling great, because I hadn't run yet since I got sick. The last time I ran was with you on Monday, Erica. That's right. ⁓ my God. Thank God I didn't get sick. Right. I was feeling so good. was like, we going too fast? We're leading the thing. We're like, let's not get lost. You remember Mike runs marathons. He was there. He ran with us. no way. We did this run and we get back and you go right to the finish line. You don't cross it. You can't. You got to earn that. Stanley Cup. Stanley Cup.

Stanley Cup treatment is right. So you got these barricades and at the barricades was Bex. Everyone's kind of waiting in line, want to get a picture. And I'm like, I'll probably see her inside, but just in case, like she's only doing the photo then leaving, cause I don't know their schedule. I did wait and I got a photo and everyone gets about 15 seconds with Bex. I got 30 seconds. ⁓ yeah. Yeah, you did. I got special treatment and, I did go to her like, do you know who I am?

And she goes, of course I know who you are. And I still don't believe her. just think it's a- that would be insane if she didn't know who you are. Yeah, give her some credit. She knows her shit. Yeah. You know, when I knew she knew who I was and we're going to get, we're going to bring this up again with someone else we met, but I knew she knew it when she turned and it goes, I love the episode with Rob. And was like, yes. See? Even though she didn't really listen, she knew, she knew.

I we're all over Instagram with our beautiful faces. Yeah, you are. Nice videos. So I thanked her for that. And then I just said, like, hey, are you going to be inside later? She goes, yes. I go, let's catch up. want to take a quick video for Erica and chat for a few minutes. Not even a few minutes, like a minute. She goes, absolutely. And I purposely, like I go inside, we eat. Dude, I had such a good time. I was not drinking.

but like now I had that happy energy. You know the I saw your video like spinning in a chair like wee. Shout out to Jeannine. Like Jeannine and I just Living your best life at the Peloton Shakeout. I was, I was living my life. And Josh and I were chatting, Josh is networking. And so he points to this woman. Again, the woman I met when I walked in and he goes, that is Erin Feeney. She runs partnerships with New York Roadrunners. And I go, I need to go talk to her. So now I'm not nervous for Sy.

I have this exciting energy and I walk over and go, we met earlier and I just realized who you were and I wanna chat, I wanna say hi and introduce myself and I always, I kept going, I'm not important, I'm nobody. But I wanna tell you who I am. Give yourself some credit. So she was amazing and we chatted for quite a bit. So if you buy anything like a New Balance shoe and it says TCS New York City Marathon, she's in charge of all that.

That's what she does. So like this jacket. It's filled with labs. She runs all the partnerships. And I said, Erica and I have this podcast. Like, I'm not asking for anything. I'm just trying to get on the radar. And I talk about like we're New Hampshire based. We do a ton for Boston. My first major. She gave me a ton of details about her job. I was just like loving it, taking it all in. A few other people started to come over. Josh was one of them and chat with her. And I was kind of done chatting with her. ⁓

I don't need to keep bothering her. And I'm watching out of the corner of my eye another Peloton instructor taking some photos. It looks like she's putting a jacket on. She puts a hat on. She has these two other people with her older. And I can tell she's leaving. And Ali, is your friend Mariana. And she's leaving in my direction. She's going to go out the front door actually. And I excuse myself from the conversation with Erin and everybody else because now I'm no longer like,

the subject of the conversation. Gotcha. She's legit walking out and I kind of just take a few steps aside and I give her a little hi, like, can I have your attention for one quick moment? One minute. She has bags in her hand. One minute please, ma'am. she's like, looks at me with these big eyes like, yes? And I said, you don't know who I am, but I'm Eric from On The Runs. Her mouth drops.

She lets go of all her don't know who I am. Yes I do. Exactly. She goes, I know who you are. And she gives me this big hug. And then she goes, you edited my episode with Ali. You edit Ali's episodes. You're amazing. Then she's like, you need to meet my parents. Introduce me to her parents. She gave me easily four minutes. That is cutest. She gave me easily five hugs. Damn it, I'm so excited. to Mariana now.

You really do. I need to meet Mariana now. She was incredible. like virtually before that. But you need to meet her in person. We should all go for a run. I want a hug. That'd be fun. Yes. She was so You'll get a lot of hugs. Yeah. It was different than like anyone else who would go talk to her. Now, of course, it's because of the connection with Allie, right? And then she goes, where's Allie? I thought she was coming. I go, I know, right? She bailed again.

I hate you so much. I hate you so much. But she was fantastic. Like honestly, like as amazing as Bex was, and we'll get to that again in a second, Mariana topped it off. Mariana was like my favorite there just because of the reaction she gave me, the hug, the embrace, the introducing me to her parents and talking about her parents. And we talked about where they live in San Diego and where they're from in Mexico and just all of it. It was, was so fun. She was amazing. I'm so happy. Like,

I had the courage to go say hi to her right then. Dude, I'm proud of you. I'm really proud of you. I actually know I'm so proud of you. Now you have a new friend in Mariana and her parents. And I say the courage, my confidence at this point after talking to Erin and everybody else was like sky high. I would go talk to anybody at this point versus an hour earlier when I was like, I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do with my hands. By the way, Eric, side note, you met Mariana's mom and she's like running royalty in San Diego.

She runs all these insane races. She's amazing, an amazing runner. That's so cool. was great. And then her dad was there too, and it was so cool. The sweetest. She left, and then I'm hanging out with the crew. I'm spinning around in the thing, the chair. I'm having such a good time, but I'm eyeing Bex. Everybody wants Bex's attention. High alert. Right, but I don't want to be in the middle.

Right? I'm like, I want to make sure I get her when nobody else is like really begging for her. And I go, Josh, you think she's leaving? It's maybe eight o'clock. We have another hour of the event. He goes, no, she's going to stay to the whole thing. I'm like, I don't know. I think she's leaving. She starts to walk towards the back and she stops at a table with just nothing but staff. I'm like, she's leaving. I'm going to go. This is my shot. And as I walk over, she sees me. Eric runs another mile. goes, I owe you a video. And we chatted for about

five minutes, it was fantastic. We took the video that you saw, Erica. It was such a good video. Oh my God, he sent it and I was like, you son of a bitch. Well, you could have gone to New York. You could have come and supported me. You've never come to a race to me. many times have I gone to a race to support you? Oh Erica, I don't even want to hear it. Don't call me a son of a bitch. This is on you. Yeah, you cannot tell me that I did not tell you to stay at my apartment. I I know.

You had so many opportunities. had my hamster wheel stuff. That's every year. Yeah, it's my prior engagement every year. New York happens once a year. You haven't gone to, like I've done triathlon since we started this podcast. I've done other, you haven't gone to anything of mine just to cheer me or support me. That's not totally true. Guys, I cannot be in the middle of your fight right now. It's not a fight. When have you gone to a race of mine that you weren't running in? When did you ask me to besides this one?

I had to ask? Yes. I ask you to come to things and you can either say yes or no. So I go, I probably, I got a 50, 50, you know, rating right now. 50, 50 rating. Like you, wanted to thank everyone for the race you did recently. I'm like, you do thank me when I do your races, but like I was your first, I was at some of your first ultras. And it's important and don't think I forgot that. and the humidity. Yep. You really see a person at their worst.

They're that miserable. So yeah, when you do your first 50k, when you do your first 50k, I will be there for you. Yeah, same. I want to be there five extra miles. Come on. Well, no, I'm totally down one day. See, Ali knows she's an ultra marathoner now. knows. Yeah, Erica saw me at my worst. Yeah, me at my worst. Absolutely saw me at my worst. Crying.

on the side of the road. Honestly, that's how they work. They play with your emotions, but I will be there for the real big ones. If you had nobody else there, man, This was a real big one. You had your sister, you had your brother, you had your parents, you had Hannah's whole crew. You weren't alone. So if you were absolutely alone, there's no way I would leave you. You can come with me to New York next year, because I think I'm going to go cheer. And they're going to be different hamster wheel weekends. OK. Anyways.

I'm gonna book you now Ali, I'm staying with you. Fair. Anytime. You know it. But yeah, that was Friday. Like, let me tell you, Bex is amazing. Bex was incredible. That was the conversation, the chat. ⁓ I can't wait till I get to meet her too. Well, we talked about that. I can't believe you some people who are gonna help make that happen. Isn't it crazy? Again, you can thank me now. Thanks, Eric! ⁓ I made it back to Hannah's by the way safely. got on the ⁓

On the one train, I took it to Times Square. got off. I found my way to the seven train, took it to Queens. I got off on 46 and then made my way walking through Queens, the neighborhoods of Queens by myself. Not even gonna lie, that sounds like a marathon, but. I was on Queens Boulevard. Shout out Entourage. I don't know if you two ever watched Entourage. I seen Entourage, yes. I was legit on Queens Boulevard. I was like, yeah, this is from Entourage.

Amazing, season one. Random thought, I started watching a Christmas movie and it's got Emanuel Cherokee in it. And Chad Michael Murray. It's not the best movie, but hey. It's a horror movie, right? No, it's on Disney. It's a Disney movie. Well, not like a Disney movie, but it's on Disney. So maybe it's a Hulu thing. I don't know. But hey, Chad Michael Murray, Emanuel Cherokee. Couldn't say no. I'd watch for Chad Michael Murray. Exactly.

I just, by the way, started following her on Instagram. I'm like, why wasn't I following her this whole time? beautiful. I can't. I just can't. I know. Now she pops up on all my story feeds, like, right away. I'm like, yes! Anywho. Anywho. That was Friday. Like, that was a big day. That was a lot of time on my feet. I loved every second of it. Like, I was taking this in. Friday night ended on a huge high. So for starting, like, 24 hours later or earlier, like, wondering, like, am I gonna get better?

So the bar is here. How do you top that? Yeah, that was awesome. So I'm super happy I did that. $43, well spent. $43. So wait, you had to pay for the Peloton run, or what was the $43? Yeah, I that was a paid thing. It was so great. They had waters, Gatorades, foods. It was worth the price of admission. Perfect. By the way, these water bottles, they gave out at least a million of these throughout the whole entire weekend. They had those in, where the hell did I go? Chicago.

Chicago is not even rememberable. You don't even know where you went. It's like stainless steel or something, like aluminum. They gave so many. Like there is easily over a hundred thousand, maybe over two hundred thousand at the the village on Sunday. Peloton had a ton of these. Everyone got one of these in their goodie bags after you finished across the finish line. Nice. It's great. It was great. So that's awesome. Yeah. Looks like the golf company, whatever the golf company is with the writing. But Colligan. ⁓ I don't know what the golf company is. it like Titleist?

It's gotta be title list. Saturday! What do you want had a big day, right? Yeah, she ran the 5K. started at Abidash. Yeah, I wish I got the hat over there for it. She gave me the winter hat. Nice. I wish I signed up. I should have signed up. I honestly thought I would have had more time. When she signed up, it sold out in like two hours. Oh. But I got off the subway, not the T, but the subway, and I went to Columbus Circle.

I did the Instagram live, like we're just, we streamed at the New Great Port Race the other day, we live streamed the whole thing. We're gonna do more lives and streams and I know it seems funny when you have four people watching, six was our max ⁓ at the same time. But like you just Stooley in the Wild tuned in. Yeah, Stooley in the Wild was like, Eric P! So it's funny, the only notifications I have for when like anybody goes live.

is on the Stooley account. So I click on it and then I realize I'm commenting as Stooley. I was like, whatever, it's fun. So I just kind of ran with it. But yeah, I did live for 10 minutes until Hannah passed me. Like I tried to time it where I could chat, show the thing a little bit. Like everyone can go and still watch it, right? And Hannah crosses at the nine minute mark. But you know, it was neat. Like I just stood there the whole time. I watched the pro men and the pro women go by. It looked like they had a bunch of high school kids racing too that went early and...

A lot of people walking over, chatting. I met some kid who was 18. He was the 12th youngest runner to run in the marathon the next day. It was his first. He was going be the 12th youngest. And he was running with his mom, which is super cool. I met a lot of people, you know, and of course it's New York City, but I hear so many different languages. And you can tell they're coming from so many Europeans and just from all over the world. I was just kind of taking it in, but I wasn't really moving around. I just stayed in that spot because that's where I told Hanout B.

She sees me, she crosses the finish line, like, then she comes and finds me and it was super beautiful out, but it was cold when you weren't in the sun. I were we talking for temps this whole weekend? how was it? Were we talking 50s? I think it was like 50, 55. I think the high was 59. Oh, beautiful. It was pretty And I remember leaving in the morning, it was like 44. So it was probably in the 40s during this 5k.

Okay, just fine. It was nice. was nice. But yeah, she did the 5k again I was jealous but nobody it's part of the 9 plus 1 so she like added it for next year and she's doing it again perfect and then went back to the Expo Which I do feel like Hannah was a little bit like ooh, we're cutting it close on time But I had to meet my team for a team photo. So we like ran right in the Expo We're rushing everything right we find Jen Jenna the twin Jenna and Kelly so there's two Jennas John and Chelsea again. We took the team photo

Got to say hi, good luck. The one thing I do feel bad about is I know as much as they included me to be part of the mathletes, I never felt like a mathlete, not to their fault, but to my own. Like I did my own training. I never joined them for any runs. They were all together for dinners and everything in New York City. super fast. Like, that's a little intimidating for me. wasn't intimidated. Just like I was on my own. Like I'm the only one with kids. I'm the only one with family in the city. Like.

staying at my sister's and it's not just about me, it's about her too. But I did make an effort to go see the, to take the team photo and then we rushed out of there, jumped in an Uber, apparently went to like the other side of Manhattan or something to go to the New Balance house, which is super cool. What'd you do there? big guys at Daniel Char. That's right, my God. So Forgot about that. don't, Ali's like, it's so cool. I don't think Ali really knows.

how cool this is. Like, do you know who this guy is? No, I need you to explain. But all I heard was like great things about New Balance House and everything they had going on. Well, New Balance House was cool. You hear about all these pop ups all the time, right? And it's not a New Balance store. Like, OK, let me talk about first the house. One, it had a pool in it on the second floor. Really? Right. It's insane. We walk in, they have a cooler full of, again,

these waters and what's the really expensive gel Morton's? Yes that's like four plus dollars per thing right something expensive. we took 19. Smart. You could sell them on the black four, Hannah took four, Alex took four. many babe. They're like take so many and then we like all took four more on the way out. Well hey you just dropped it your brother was there when did he get into town? Well that's when we met Alex. Alex met us there in line so we get there in line so we're going to meet Big Z Zdeno Char.

Ali, he played for the Boston Bruins for like over a thousand games. He's the tallest player to ever play in the NHL. How tall? We had his coach, Becca PZ, on the podcast a while ago. I've been dying to get big Z on this podcast. He's 6'7". That's legit. Basketball players are taller. For a hockey player? How does he not tip over?

Yeah, the center of gravity is a little like... Yeah, like it, yeah. Right. On skates. So not only that, he's played like 1,500 games in NHL. He was the Bruins captain, won the Stanley Cup. I've always said when I meet him and Bergie and anyone from that team, the first thing I'm saying is thank you for 2011. I for sure said that to him more than once. That's so cute. That is cute. I can just imagine the fangirl. No, I can just imagine you like, like seeing like, oh my God, oh my God, there he is. There's Big Z. You watched him out of the corner of your eye.

Yes, this is it. Like we see him get out of the car to walk in. Because we're in line at this New Balance house and we think like the line is just for him. They were like let two in, three in, whatever. We thought like we were trying to figure out what was going on. they must have been at capacity. Well, but the house didn't feel full, but they were just managing it. They're letting people in not just for the Z event. There was other things going on apparently, right? ⁓ Pictures and they had art giveaways, all this stuff.

Normatec stations. So we walk in there and they go, you're going upstairs. We think everybody in line is there for Big Z. And we go upstairs and we ask the first guy on the second floor where we see a pool in the Normatec station. He goes, ⁓ who's Big Z? He goes, ⁓ really tall guy? He went upstairs. We go upstairs again. There's like this line for stuff and pictures and other things. like, where's the big guy? he's upstairs. That's going on upstairs. went up to the roof. We went up to the freaking roof. my God.

He's sitting at a table eating a sandwich and they're like, he's gonna just do everything after the sandwich. And you think it's gonna be there on the rooftop where they have this backdrop for photos. And I'm like, this is such a cool setting. Like, we're just gonna get to hang out with him. Like, oh my God. Then he gets up and he leaves. Like, where's he going? So we go back down two floors to the third floor and kind of like maybe the main floor.

And the funny thing is we met some people in line and they're awesome. People who actually already follow us and we met Megan. She is at Run Disney Doc. ⁓ When I said, know, I have a podcast, she goes, I know who you are. She's like already follows us. She knows Jared Ewing very well. She does the Disney races. She knows the Will Run For People or that podcast. You saw Mike this weekend and failed to mention. ⁓

Yes, well. There we go. You're you're right. I screwed up there. Ask me about that again in a second. The funny thing was, she was right behind us. And then when we got to that floor, she was first in line. no shit. ⁓ So we waited in line. I could tell Hannah was a little like, we gotta do this quickly too, because we had to go get our parents. But we got to see Big Z. We got about 90 seconds, took a photo, little picture, little video. ⁓

I did not drop the podcast, but Hannah did. So thank you, Hannah. And mention that we had Becca on. Love it. But there really wasn't the opportunity to, so if anyone has a connection with Big Z, you know I want them for Boston weeks. I really do. And I think he'd be a fantastic guest because he's from Slovakia. His dad was an Olympic wrestler. He has so much great advice. The most of talking he did was giving Hannah advice for her first marathon. No shit. then Alex and I just told him about like watching him as kids growing up and everything. that was super cool.

He, Ali, he's like, okay, he's not the Boston Bruins' Tom Brady, but he was for like that time. That year, yeah. Right. That like stretch of 15 years or something. know, he's not the goat, but he is the goat. Is he the Gronk or is he like the Edelman? Yeah, the Gronk. He's so different than them two at the same time. ⁓ I don't mean like personality-wise, but just like recognition-wise. Yeah, exactly.

He's up there with some of the greatest Boston athletes of our era, the championship seasons. He's up there. You got Brady Edelman Gronk for the Celtics. got the big three. think that's Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Alan. What about Larry Bird? Well, no, but that's the 80s. ⁓ still our time. The Red Sox, had like David Ortiz, Fairtech, Pedroia. And then the Boston Bruins, had Big Z. You had Bergeron. You had Kretche, Tuguerasque.

Some of the greatest. that whole era was amazing to be a Boston sports fan and me being a Bruins fan number one. That was so cool. So now I've met Bergy and Chara. When did meet Bergy? Thank you for 2011. When that happen? I met Bergy a long time ago. Long time ago. for another podcast. No details. That was fun. That was so much fun. Then we rushed back to

pick up our parents and then we went back to Hannah's place. Well, we like checked them in their hotel and everything. back to Hannah's place and that's when Hannah and I finally got to like calm down Saturday afternoon. We did our, we packed everything before everyone came over. We took our flat photos. Which were super cute. They were so cute. All of your content was so good. Thank you. I actually really appreciate that. I got a lot of messages from people saying how much they loved it. So that makes me feel good because it makes me feel like

They enjoy it, not that I just did too much and was annoying. I don't think it was too I don't think it was too much. Yeah, at all. I thought it was great. I really enjoyed doing it. And I think it's important. That's why I kind of keep pushing Erica to do it. But I think I love it. Between Chicago and New York, you both had like this. You both made content that made you feel like you were there. Like I felt like I know I saw you at the marathon, Eric, but like I felt like I was running with you.

as I kept watching what you were posting. That's the goal. did what I... I was more focused on trying to run. And I know we'll get into Eric's whole marathon day, but he soaked in everything during the race. And me, I'm just like, I just want to go and see how I do. I wanted to be present and in the moment. And I also didn't want to keep fucking with my phone because...

God knows I would drop it. I'm not very coordinated when it comes to that. I'm not worried about dropping it because then work will buy me a one. Well, see, I don't have that perk. Me either. I have to pay for mine. But what was neat about Saturday afternoon after we left our parents and we got like two, three hours till they come there, there was this nervous energy, some anxiety, not from me, but definitely from Hannah. And we were making sure we got everything right. We took the photos.

I told Hannah at one point, like, when you do another world major that you travel to, you're gonna enjoy it so much better because she's worried about hosting, she's worried about picking up mom and dad, she's worried about having the food ready and everything. Everything gonna be on time. But the other exciting part that I saw, and this reminds me of myself from 10 years ago, was her excitement to tell everyone what they're going to see and what it's gonna be like out there to spectate. Because that's the only way she's experienced this.

and she's showing them the course mapping going, this is where we're gonna go up this hill and this is a hot take by the way, New York City is not hilly. It's just the bridges. I agree. I feel like I've said this on my pod a lot. I feel like it's just the bridge. Sydney more hard than Boston? I doubt it's even hilly either. Like hills are gonna happen, train for them. I feel like Boston's probably the worst of them though.

with the new, yeah. I only felt one hill and it was a downhill in Central Park. I was like, oh wow, we're What about the bridge right before you go to, what is it? Is it first half? Yeah, okay. The Queensborough bridge is like pretty steep. That's legit. It's not like the worst. It was like the ramp though. going up the Queensborough wasn't steep, but the getting off the ramp was like another steep downhill. I never felt like they were steep. I just like knew it was gonna be. Well, nothing compares to McIntyre, man. You ran that like 7,000 times when you were.

Training so you did the training right. It's like the incline is the same the whole time. Which is the difference. Like hilly is where the pitch changes throughout the climb. Yeah I will say I agree you had elevation gain but it didn't feel like intimidating at all. Yeah and I feel like the the bridges aren't as drastic like like they're not as like undulating so it's not like right you're going up and then immediately down and up because that'll just kill your

kill your calves in your quads. At least you have like a slow burn and then you just, the Queensborough is a pretty steep downhill though. That's my favorite turn in the whole marathon. It's so exciting. So I wanna tell you something I did Saturday night though, cause I see this nervous excitement of Hannah's. Like she's super excited to tell everyone. This was me at my Ironman, cause I went to Mount Treblant twice as a spectator and supported Scott. And I just knew this was gonna be a great venue. My parents were gonna love it. Everyone, kept trying to get Hannah to go, that you guys are gonna love.

village and you're gonna get to see me like 12 times you're never gonna have to travel far to see me I did say mom I want you to tell me after like what won't you like better she goes why do you always have to compare why do you always have to make it a competition why do you got to act like yours is better? has a point. Cause it is. Why do you have to choose? At the time I thought it was actually yeah but it was ⁓ I was so excited 10 years ago when I did that I could see it from Hannah so I actually she's showing them a map I'm like I'm gonna put this on YouTube

and there's like a six minute fast forward video of the course. And just, I took a video of Hannah like talking to everyone, like showing the video, like I played it and then she's like talking us all through it. We're talking, it's Alex, mom, dad, it's her husband Mike, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law now and her mother-in-law. Like, and they're all just like, ⁓ cool. And when I share these in the past, I'm like, I'm trying to sell it, but I don't know if I'm selling it. And just she reminded,

you know, me of myself when I did it. So I was so excited for her. And then finally, left and she can't sleep. And we were just right. And at one point we're like, let's eat more. And I'm like, yeah, I could eat more. And like, we're just trying to figure it all out. And I'm like, all right, I think we should go to bed. Like, you should try. You should try to sleep. And I think she finally, finally fell asleep, but she was so excited. I was so excited, like for her there. So I love that.

What time was it when you finally went to sleep? And what did you eat for dinner? Like what was your actual meal? Pasta, garlic bread, meatballs. Mike made me my own pasta, my own garlic bread, my own meatballs. I do wish it was the Hannaford brand garlic bread. I love Hannaford garlic bread. I know. It was Mike's own made, so it was very good, but man, that Hannaford garlic bread, the way it melts. They put so much butter on it.

I know it's so good! Margarine or whatever. We've never had this. Do you get it at the store? Yeah, Hannaford is our local grocery store. So they just have their own brand of it and it's so good. It's a fresh loaf in the bakery and it's delicious. I was happy we ate again though after they left. I was like, I could use that. But yeah, I think it was 10 o'clock. I didn't watch game seven. I knew it was going on but I forgot. I slept really well. Good.

Like I started sleeping good. So I didn't put out Thursday's episode because I valued sleep. So last week, remember like Tuesday, the New York report episode dropped. My goal was to have it out for Thursday. And I valued sleep because I was so tired when I was sick. every night, I think I got eight hours for like three straight nights. But I gained an hour Saturday night, right? I gained an hour. Forgot about We woke up at 545 and I felt like a baby. Right. Took a shower, got dressed.

The only thing I did forget was a water I wanted to take with me, but I bought one at like a hot dog cart or something, you know? Didn't they have some for you at the village? Yeah, but... Oh, you wanted something Alright, let's talk about the journey to the village. Yeah, I gonna say, we need to know how you got there. Alright, 6.45am, we walk out the door, it's 44 degrees out. 6.56am, we're on the subway. It's beautiful. You see that? I was warming up on the subway platform.

We're on the top, the third level of the platform. So we get on the subway at 6.56, about a 30 minute ride into our next train. It was funny because I knew we were on the right train because everyone had the Ironman bags, right? Not Ironman, but the marathon bags. Your village Oh, the clear bags, yeah. Right. And we saw some people walking on a train and I'm like, Hannah, is that not the right train? And she goes, no. I go, tell them. And she goes, you guys don't want to go on that train. You don't want to go on that train.

You guys saved their day Right. So one person we met was Amanda. She was super sweet going on She was running for her son miles and it was for syrup apolze. He's a two-year-old with syrup apolze So it was like twenty six point two miles for miles And she raised thirty grand. That is incredible. Wow That is incredible. Let's go. Right. Yeah, Amanda Amanda. Wow. Let's go Amanda. Yay, Amanda

So again, we got on the subway at 656. We got off the subway at 738, walk our way to the ferry. So precise, The energy at the ferry was- I love this. The energy was so energetic. feel like Erica did her steps on doing time, right? Just the party at the ferry was so much fun, loud music. We make our way, like you gotta go through one gate to then get to the doors and they open the doors and they let everyone in this section go through and then they let everyone from the gate go again and-

They did a really good job logistically with everything So you just got to tell me a little bit extra about the ferry because the the times that I've run New York City I've taken the bus from Bryant Park. So I have never taken the Staten Island ferry So how was it like how long of a journey was it? There's no other way to do it really no other way really I I mean I guess if you have an early wave or something sure the bus is the only but the last bus is at 615 in the morning

I left half an hour after that. That's right. I know when you first said 645 I'm like wait I get on the bus at like 515 from Jersey and I'm closer than you guys are. Oh shit Yeah, so it doesn't make sense in my head Let me tell you this ferry ride was incredible and I made a point like we're gonna go on the outside and like look at everything I know you can go sit down inside you can stay warm Which is clutch if it's raining or cold or windy or not, but

It was a beautiful day. And I can see the Statue of Liberty and I'm like, we're gonna go on this side of the boat so we can go buy it. And as we're approaching the Statue of Liberty, I don't like Nike. I'm not a big brand guy. don't wear Nike. I don't really go for Adidas. I love New Balance. I love Saucony. I love running brands where Nike's more than a running brand. I like to support the running brands, right? I gotta tell them, their signs were top notch. I mean, they're everywhere.

These Nike signs, I'm reading a couple, I'm like, okay, yeah, I know. I see these in London, I see them in Chicago, they're all over. And then I'm like, huh, that one's kind of funny. Huh, that one's clever. So as we're approaching the Statue of Liberty now, you see this boat in front of it, and the boat is red, because all these signs are red signs. They got this massive boat, probably the size of the Titanic, which the Titanic in reality today is not a big boat, right?

If you compare the Titanic to cruise ships today, Titanic is like one tenth. This is a massive like, it's obviously some type of a, it's much larger than a barge. Oh, larger than No, much larger. But it was like a container boat with not many containers on it. Okay. Right? And they wrap the entire thing with this Nike sign that says, NYC won't carry you. It pushes you with the Run Nike symbol.

I like that. Mm-hmm perfectly placed as you go by Statue of Liberty And not only did I take that video I posted it right away to reels. Mm-hmm. It was like it was a really sick video Yeah, I'm like I got to post this now natural like natural sound the wind and everything Which I actually didn't realize it was that windy in the video till like a day later. Whatever I was like

How much does it cost to advertise on the side of a boat asking for a friend? To wrap the entire boat in a Nike ad? Let me tell you, Nike has gone all out with their ads. I can appreciate that. And I'm sure they don't care about the return because the return is the eyes that see it from everybody like myself who post it. Every time someone's at a world major, I see all these signs.

So that's the return. Remember we talked to the guy from Honda Auto Fair, Erica? Like how do you judge your ROI on this? He goes, I don't, but eyes That's not the main goal. Right. Eyes on the logo. kudos to them. Nine, so that was 8.33. It was about a 30 minute ferry ride. Again, take the ferry if you got the chance next time. Take the ferry.

Unless you get like a private VIP bus, which Josh Vernon got, and he was on the bus with Des Linden and Casey Neistat. Shut the fuck up. How? He got a VIP bus. he paced Patina Miller, who's like an actress. no shit. How cool. Yeah, he paced her. he got all VIP treatment. It's good for him.

You know what? I'm glad I enjoyed this. Maybe we'll get VIP treatment one day. I'm glad I got to experience all this, right? Even Rob Simmelcare said the ferry is the way to go and he wasn't bullshit and just because I was on the ferry not the bus. Like this was incredible. It was so incredible. And I was excited because I seen it in Casey Neistat's videos before. I kind of knew but it was everything delivered here and went even more, right? So 9.43 we finally get on a bus.

943 we get off the bus. So an hour and 15 minutes after getting off the ferry, we get off the bus in the village. It was about a 40 minute bus ride. Okay. And we met Rachel and Morgan. Now, Rachel and Morgan, you would have thought were best friends running together. They weren't. They just met, but they lived one town next to each other in Mass. Like one was from like Plymouth Mass. The other one was from like Kingston Mass. Right? So they just met. running their first New York City marathon. We met them, had a great time.

chatted for quite a bit, and, cause they sat next to us on the bus. So you just got to make friends, like that's all you're doing on the bus, in the start village. it. Yeah, it was so cool. Then, in the village I get to meet some of Hannah's friends, that's where I went in the first porta-potty that was pissed all over. None of the porta-potties in the village had toilet paper. What? None of Already? Well they did obviously, but I'm the fifth wave, I'm there with lot of people in the fourth wave, so as we're arriving,

I think the second wave just went off and the third wave's in the corrals. So there's the fourth and fifth wave in the village. And it's fun because I like, I'm experienced. I have a podcast that talks about this. I know don't go in the first couple rows of porta-potties, because the lines are super big. So went all the way to the back, lines were like a third of length. met someone, her name was Natalie. She's gonna come on the podcast because she's a PT. So we gave her that advice. She goes, clutch, absolutely clutch.

I wore the Firefly and I gave Hannah the other Firefly and I was like, we'll just throw it away. We'll buy a new one. Shout out Firefly. They're amazing. I tried to save mine, the nicer pair, and I put them in pocket thinking they would make it to the half marathon point, like no problem. When I got there to give it to my brother, they were gone. I didn't care. I didn't care. I'm gonna do it. It's so good. They're only $100 to get two pairs in the pack. I'm gonna always use Firefly now. Good. To the legs up before a run. It was that good.

or some version of it, but I'm gonna shout out Firefly, like thank you for that, and sponsoring, partnering, helping with our fundraising. So, shout out to them and my race-tatch right socks, all the other brands. I brought bare butt wipes with me. Use them twice. So you didn't, it didn't matter that they ran out of toilet paper, because you were prepared, which is one of our code brown commandments. Always be prepared. The coolest thing though, I gave into peer pressure.

Everyone saw this thing a glitter and it was like community glitter. They're all sharing it and I was like, I should put that on my head laugh laugh, know LOL and they're all like you should and I remember it's like this group of women runners from like Brazil or something and they were just like you need to do it, know And I was like, alright, like how do I put this on my head and everything? Nothing to un-race day break in this rule. I love it. I honestly it might be my thing

For the record, I have to put this out there. You got mad at us for not ⁓ recognizing that you put glitter on your head. did. You know what's funny though? That was the first thing I noticed when I went back before I posted the video of you, because you got very close to my camera and I was like, ⁓ shit, there's glitter everywhere. It was all like in the back of your head, especially. It was all over the whole thing, but you could really see it well in the back versus the top because your camera's not bird's eye view. So he was rocking all the glitter and

I saw it in one of your videos that are your stories that you posted. And my first thought was, I hope he doesn't get a weird sunburn. I mean, I don't know what the sun was like, but you just had It would be a cool sunburn. I would have glitter stars. Not saying it's not cool. It's just like, did you get a sunburn? would be a would be a glitter sunburn.

Yeah, I didn't really I mean I got color but I didn't really get some like you could probably see some of the sunglasses I was gonna say you're gonna like zoom in on your head and there's gonna be like little Untan spots. Yeah, but I did the glitter I gave into the pressure. It wasn't hard to like give in Isn't it so much fun to put glitter on? Come on. Yeah, just put you in a better mood. Yeah My thing that might be my thing. Yes at all races put glitter on my head. I I support this

Yeah, same. So, so catch me up. From the time that you left Hannah's apartment to the time that you are lined up and ready to go, how much time has it been? All right. So it was a three hour journey from leaving her place to getting to the village. So that's just getting there. But how much time do you have to wait until your wave went off? We end. Well, so if we got there at quarter of 10, we had another hour and 15 minutes to our corral opened. We went into our corral.

So you had a 15 minute window. It opened at 11. I closed at 11.15. We went in like right at 11.15. We did a couple more bathroom breaks. I charged my phone and my watch. had to, like I gave away, oh, this is the hardest thing. I had to give away my 2004 Timberland hockey hoodie from freshman year. The sleeves ripped off. It was my like cold weather running hoodie. But I was like, this is where I give it away.

This is where I'm gonna give away this. sad. The only other thing was I thought I was gonna run with my flip belt and my little New Balance fanny pack. And I put it on and I was just gonna put the phone in the fanny pack and everything else in the flip belt. Yeah. And I didn't like the way it all works together when I did a couple steps. I gave away the fanny pack too. And I gave away some, you know, sweatpants and other clothes and all that and a pair of socks.

I brought extra socks because I didn't want to accidentally like have my feet get wet or something and then have wet socks. So I brought extra socks. Smart, smart. I wore crappy socks there. Then I put my right socks on before the race. Yeah. So that was hard giving that away. It wasn't hard, but it was almost like, I remember leaving and go, thanks for all the years. Like I remember ripping those sleeves off at Linn Erika. sentimental send off. Corral clothes at 1115, 1134.

So this was interesting, like the corral just starts moving. I thought we're all going to get on the road and then do a national anthem. So as our corral's moving, I can hear the national anthem. I'm thinking it's for others before us, right? But really our corral just had this slow walk, very slow walk. And then all of a sudden you actually just start running. Like the cannon already happened and your corral's just slowly moving. So I moved.

back, further back than my bib. I originally had a pink bib. I was supposed to be on the bottom, but I moved back to run with Hannah with all the blue bibs and she was blue bib Corral D. Okay. Right? So it was pretty far in the back, but at 1134, you had these barricades, the same white ones that we see at the Boston Marathon at mile 19.2. And there's bathrooms and you can tell these are the bathrooms for the staff. And Hannah now has like the big, like I peed.

couple times, I got to go poop once. Hannah has these nervous peas now. And she goes, you think I can go? go, yeah, hop the fence. I look at the cop, I go, this cool? He goes, yeah, that's cool. Hannah started a fucking trend. did she really? No. Everybody is now. They were probably so pissed. Right? I got a picture or video of Hannah coming out. I'm like, we gotta go before they get mad at us. Everybody's going and using.

The staff's bathroom now. Oh well. And then all of sudden, 11.36, two minutes later, we just start running. like, I thought we were going to do another national anthem, here another canon, here New York, New York. None of that happened. Oh, so was a little anticlimactic for you. Yeah, it's We just start running. like, oh, I got to start my watch? GPS, GPS, GPS. Oh no. You weren't even ready for it.

But well, was, I just thought I had like a couple more minutes. I thought, okay, we're getting a little late start because we're at the back corral. So anyways, we started the race. We run up the, what's name of the bridge? Farisano Narrows. Farisano Narrows. What a cool way to start a race. Picturesque, beautiful, like the best day ever. The helicopter, the NYPD helicopter, just going across, like in your direction of the bridge, right at your eye level.

Like 150 feet from you is so cool. I actually took a video of that, but I didn't, that wasn't on story. I'll find that. I'll post it. You can hear the runners underneath you cheering. You, people are stopping and taking pictures. Like in the middle, they're standing on the median, right? Like nobody cares about their time. I didn't care about my time. I knew I was going to run with Hannah the whole time. I had a couple goals. One was a goal. I think we can get the women's average, which was a 448. B goal.

let's beat my Ironman time, which was 5.05. So I ran a 5.05 marathon in my Ironman. And then the real A goal was have fun, have a blast. We achieved that. Nailed it. We go up, we get one mile. Again, it did not feel like a hill climb, but it was probably perfect that it started that way.

Yeah, knock that one of the hills like right out of the ⁓ bat. So easy. And you're like so excited you don't even notice it. Yeah. Well, and then the thing was I purposely did that McIntyre run because Erica, it was a two mile uphill climb from my house. So like it wasn't like I do a two mile warm up and then start a climb. The climb from my the first mile climb from my house to almost the base of McIntyre is pretty much a similar

elevation pitch, probably a little more actually, to be honest. so you were prepped, you were ready. Yeah, I was super prepped. I also got really lucky because, alright, pink bibs are on the bottom, orange bibs are on the left side of the bridge, blues are on the right, so as you get off the bridge, all three kind of go in separate directions. Yes. Well, I got lucky because guess who is at the bottom of the bridge, still technically on the bridge, like probably shouldn't be there, at the bottom of my exit.

on the blue, the blue bib exit. could never guess. Not a clue. Our man, Wyatt Moss. No shit. No way. Wyatt Moss. Did you two watch my story? I did, but I didn't know where he was. Yeah. I don't have my eyes out for everyone, Eric. I actually knew he was at mile two. High alert. High High alert. It's our new thing. Well, I actually knew he was at mile two, but I wasn't like thinking, look for him. But all of a sudden I see him on my left.

Jet I'm like, my god, I gotta do this. I jet to my left and he goes my god, Eric. It gives me this big hug and my mind's thinking. my god. He remembers me and then I'm like, wait I have my name right on my shirt

He's talked to you a few times too, so he's got to remember you. think and I'm like, oh my god, this is my sister Hannah. He goes two miles down, 24 to go, you got this. We took the video, we took a big hug. I'm in his reel of everyone giving him hugs. I'm the second one giving me a hug, by the way. do think, you know, he does know because I eventually tagged him. I think he knew, but I don't know if he knew. It's like, you know, he sees me and sometimes like I'm at fault to this. A lot of people I run into or people come to me and I need to be reminded.

I'm like, yes, yes, yes, you know? It happens. So, saw him at mile two. We eventually make it. It was very neat to me to see how all the, paths went different ways. And eventually we all do meet on fourth ave. And I'm looking down fourth ave. It's this long straight road. Again, first time. I know a lot of you are probably like, Eric, yeah, we know we've done it. ⁓ I've never, this is so cool. Just this sea of people.

And it kind of looks like it's going slightly downhill so you can really see everybody. tried to take one or two pictures to zoom in to show this. It was incredible. ⁓ The first couple of miles, like just the energy continues to build up and up and up and up and up. And I know Ali's at mile seven, fourth Av, seventh street on the left. And Hannah goes, okay, well we're at.

107th, so we have another 100 blocks to go. Not that that was long, but like, what a journey. It was like an hour to that point. Were you with anybody before or were you always by yourself? No, I had a whole crew with me before. So they all left. And actually ran back to work. They all saw like the first half of the people that came on my tracker. And then I ran back to work and ran back out for you.

Well, I was honored when you did because you were by yourself with your phone and I was like, there she is. And I was like, she came out for me. She didn't bail for a third time. And I don't even know what the first time was. DC. That is so not fair. That would, that does not count. It counts. It gets added to the list. Hey, if I didn't like you, Allie, would be like, no, Allie's cool. Yeah.

So question for Ali, was your, do you work right there and you literally just went like in and out of your building? was back line like off that street. Yeah. So I was working at backline on Saturday and Sunday and it was literally back line is on third. So you run down fourth and back lines on third and seventh. Be like, be right back at the corner. I literally, I was like, I went back. like, Hey, how's it going? They're like, good. I'm like, all right, cool. My friend Eric's coming. I got to go back out. Well, I was so pumped you did in.

I wanna say Hannah, thank you, because Hannah had a ton of friends on the course. she did, like, she could have usually been like, okay, you can go say hi to them and then find, you know, she had a friend immediately after you. And she goes, we need to get back on this side of the street, because all her friends were on the right side of the road. And she was kinda, I think, questioning, like, if she was actually gonna come and say hi to you too, because she couldn't miss her friends. But like, she at the same time respected,

that I wanted to see people too. And she came across with me, we saw you, and then we immediately go to the right. ⁓ did she see her friends? And I made a goal to get videos of all these experiences, especially of her. I wanted to always run behind her to get her reaction or get way ahead of her and turn around and get her reaction of seeing these friends. Like ⁓ one is called Rose and there's so many others. There's Adam and Lauren. And there was so many of her friends there.

compared to, because they all live in the city, so it just makes sense. But 4th Ave was super cool. And I was like, this is pretty neat. But it didn't blow me away until after 4th Ave, we make this big left turn, then a right turn, there's a band, there's bands everywhere. But mile eight, it's like everything now got super tight. The crowds got deeper, or at least they felt deeper.

There are DJs every other block. crowd's getting drunker. The music was so loud. That's all they're doing all day. was this epic party. And the videos, I'm telling you, do not give it justice. Like, I tried to take videos. They don't give it justice. But it was so loud. I want to stop and dance and party and just pump my hands up. I...

Just the energy and the vibe like 26.2 miles was easy. Manchester Marathon. The one I've done twice. Like you're just out there by yourself with 300 other people. the second half of the half marathon. Second half now you're by yourself. You see maybe three people. You got a couple cheer stations like maybe Yuki's out there somewhere giving away like Twizzlers and Waters or Fireball shots. You got cool support.

But dude, like every other marathon in the world is gonna totally disappoint now. don't know. you have to do other majors. Mile 8 was incredible. That's pretty good if you're mile 8 and you're like, fuck yeah, this is fantastic. What else is in store for me? It was insane. Well, then we hit this Jewish community. don't know anything. just... Hannah goes, now we're in some...

area and the crowds are gone. Just gone. Quiet for like a half mile maybe, maybe a mile at the most and then all of a sudden party time right over again. Insane. Incredible. So much fun. I'm slightly worried about my phone dying but again I left with it at a hundred percent like I charged it at the village. Had to you know

let go of my portable charger, which is like a $50 charger. So find that GoFundMe, buy me some New York City merch. you threw out so many things. Just buy a cheaper version and Did you say check a bag? Yeah, like you can do bag checks. No, no. You couldn't? You have to do that the day before and that bag's waiting for you at the end. Oh, oh. You can't check a bag at Yeah, you do have to drop it off. You have to drop it off like at, I think in Central Park, right? You have to drop it off like in the neighborhood. bag check, but I didn't actually use it.

So I did look for a cheaper one, but it was two last minute. I went to a couple stores. They're all $50. And I decided I'm just going to buy another new big one. This one was four years old. I bought it for Disney World. And the newer ones are a little better, a little more powerful. This one, it did its job. yeah. We hit the halfway point. You cross a bridge. Again, New York City is not hilly. Finally see our parents. Just after halfway.

⁓ Again, saw many of her friends, but I had a friend in particular waiting for me about a hundred yards after our parents actually. This is the first time I lost my sister because she didn't see me like jet to the side. I knew this guy had a sign. I saw a little tease of the sign on Instagram that I don't think he meant to tease, but I got to see it. It was Michael Bauer, one of our Patreons. had a sign for me with his run crew. He gave me the perfect description of where he'll be.

And I found him, got the quick video. was so cool. Erica, you're like, oh my God, who's this? Because I was like, I have a fan. I Well, I saw it real quick and I was like, I couldn't even see who it was. So that's so cool. Right. So he was there. And then just before that, by the way, I had planned to drink. I had a handheld. I planned to have that finished by the time we got to mile 13, where my family was. Alex had waters for me. So he had a water bottle with an IV stick in it. And then

He had another water that we filled my hand held with and we put an element Salt stick in it, right? so I carried four with me by the way and someone goes. my god four I'm like, well really two but I always carry extras because I lose shit Like they fall out or whatever. I don't care to go back for it So I have these two now full water bottles and I'm gonna I know one of them is a throwaway Yeah, and I'm gonna drink it pretty quick. That was the water with the IV stick. Yeah and

So what I've spared to say here, not on purpose, but this whole time, I have gas. And I've been trusting farts the whole time. Because I was very confident they were just farts. boy. were juicy farts, right? Juicy. Okay. And there's just all the effects of being sick and just all the gas getting out and everything. And I knew from being sick like this before, but right after I saw Michael and right after I took a couple sips, ⁓ I'm like, okay, you know.

I gotta poop. Bathroom lines were very long, but the further you got through here, they weren't that long. And I took already one pee break. And I tell Hannah, just walk, your own thing. The best part actually about these bathroom breaks I took was I got to spread my legs after and run like a nine minute, maybe even 8.30. ⁓ to catch up. Very Right. It was just like you go on the left or the right. Stick to your side. I'll catch you. And this happened four times. I peed twice, pooped twice. ⁓

but like the poops were just like a quick like, get in there.

Get my bare butt wiped. Felt amazing. But I took these two full water bottles and I put them just outside the porta potty on like an AC unit of a window or something. And I was like, get out of there, run, catch Hannah. And all of a sudden, like, I feel super light. Not just because I pooped, but because my hands were empty. Oh, no. So I just filled two waters, one with the element and the other one with the hydration stick.

And I left them. Nice. Hold on dude. And what mile is this? 14. Okay. So you totally just glossed over seeing your parents because I saw a picture and they had the most epic signs for you two. They had big head signs. Mike had a sign. didn't notice it. I didn't really read the signs. I noticed the big heads but Mike had a sign that said Mike is Hannah's husband. It says

my god, OMG, is that Eric from on the runs? That's why I felt like those signs were so clutch. So we need some clarification. Was this mile 14, was this mile 14 shit your first or your second of the race? First. Okay. First. Yes. and the thing was it came really quick. I knew it was coming and I just said, you know what? The next one's not a fart.

I didn't as much as I have the on the runs podcast with the running poop emoji I don't want to be that guy and these weren't like so I had still today I Haven't had a solid ball movement in over a week, right? Like it's still all getting out of my system, but these were just flat out like mud Super fast coming out quick wipe like these were like NASCAR pit stops

Okay, and I knew it was empty after like it wasn't like I got to sit there and there's more right I I did I did apply though. I had a tiny little body glide I apply a little body glide Yeah, and and then I just got right back out there and I felt like a million bucks. I'm not worried about time again. I Don't want to be the guy of shit on my legs though. No, but at least you you had those moments that you said you were excited to just Stretch your legs

And I'll tell you this too, even running with Hannah and Hannah yelled at me many times to slow down, we were passing people the entire 26.2 miles. Yeah, I believe it. it felt great. There was never a point, unless you're elite like Ali G, you do wanna start off, and maybe even if you're elite like Ali G, you wanna start off conservatively, because you wanna be stronger at the end. And you wanna be the one passing people. Well, that was exactly what we did. We passed.

Thousands of people we maybe got passed by like five ⁓ Outside of the bathroom breaks and and Hannah finally took advantage of some of them And I think at one point she actually had to really go P2. She had no code Brown's Because I see do the bathroom thing right like how many bathrooms are like how frequent are they are there many of them? Perfect there are so many at the village if your experience you probably know where to go to because I found more later the

The whole entire stretch of fourth ave, not a good place to take a pee break. Now there is a lot of porta potties, but very long lines. ⁓ After the halfway, there might've been seven porta potties and there might've been seven people in line. you probably like, every time I went to the bathroom, besides the first pee break that was on fourth ave, I was in and out of there within 60 seconds. Nice. Okay, that's how you want to do it, NASCAR pick.

The first bathroom break probably was a four minute hold up. I didn't care. I did not care. still like, kind of derails the race you're having. I mean, you worry. feel like it's hard to from Sweden in line for the four minute wait and had a great conversation. They've run, it was their first New York, first time running in America. They were super nice. That's really cool. Yeah. So I'm halfway now.

I guess we're about to enter the Queensborough Bridge, right? Like that's where we are. Mile 15? I remember that. Everyone always talks about it being super quiet. It was, it was mile 15 and it was, the bridges were cool because of that. Yeah, you can't have the spectators on there, right? Right. Yeah. But so when you get off the Queensborough, what you do is you start to go down and then you get on like, what is the ramp?

probably the on-ramp, because we're actually running on the left side of road, so the opposite direction that traffic typically flows, and you make like a U-turn and then another 90-degree turn. So you go over where you're eventually gonna run, and you can hear the crowds below you. As you get closer, they get louder and louder. It was so cool. Again, videos don't do it justice. But it was can hear them from like a quarter mile away. Yeah! Because you're going down for a while.

Right, right. this is Manhattan, right? And this gets you onto what? First Ave? I think so. This brings you into Manhattan. And it's just a straight away of people. First Ave is a party. Right. It was just like 4th Ave in Brooklyn, but the party was just like mile eight. Right? The only difference was First Ave. It is First Ave, right, Ali? Yeah.

It's much wider, where mile eight was super tight and thin, but the party was the same. DJs, run clubs, so loud, it was, the energy was so contagious. You just want to party. ⁓ The age stations were incredible. The volunteers were amazing. You would go, there'd be an age station, a couple of them that were just like gels, and then your feet just, you can feel your feet sticking to the ground. But I didn't care.

There was like confetti everywhere. It was amazing. And I don't give a shit that there was confetti there. And I don't think anyone else running shit either. I know we had that conversation, but it was so freaking fun. And the aid station again, you're running on top of all these cups, these green Gatorade cups. Who gives a shit? It was awesome. It was so much fun. What a party.

You have people cleaning up like specifically but I we had a little conversation the other day Eric's like let's get that kit like confetti cannons and and me and Lindsay were like nah, that's just you two are party poopers. I love the confetti cannons. Yeah, I will never say no to confetti cannons. wouldn't say no if somebody did it for me, but I'm not the one who's gonna go. do it for strangers. I'm saying just do it for our friends. I feel bad. I'm the I love the Mike Seaman leave no trace.

And I'm not gonna be the one to... can up our shit. Yeah, cuz you don't wanna clean up every single piece of... Is that why you feel bad Erica? Cuz people have to clean it up? I know, but like think of all the people throwing gels all over the street. like, no, people love Who does clean it? Do they just have like street sweeper? I'm thinking of Boston here. Like it's away from an aid station. community's come and clean it, like... I don't know, I'd feel bad. pay for... Let's just do a Girl Scout group, Boy Scouts, alright? They come and clean it and they pay these groups...

Like they donate the money towards their fundraising for nationals or something and they come clean. Like that's how that shit works. If you can guarantee that every single piece of confetti will be Don't be a party pooper. Like this is fun. It's not a serious race. Party pooper. I don't know. It's not a serious race guys. This is like people are, it's a victory lap. Yes. Like get them the victory lap treatment.

All right? You can do that with like noisemakers. You don't need to do. That's true. I'd rather do the confetti cannon though than like drop my gels anywhere I want. That's a bad habit that I'm trying to break. Like save them for the trash cans. Well, I tried to take a gel. I tried to time it with an aid station because I want to take the gel and then I want to have the little cup of water to wash it down. Yes, that's good etiquette. And then I throw the gel in the water at the same That is great etiquette. Yeah. So I'm the same with you.

Like Mike Seaman said, leave no trace, but at these races, like, just be strategy about it. Like if you run the Manchester City Marathon that's coming up in a couple days, we'll be there podcasting live. I'm not gonna leave a gel or something like that in the middle of the rail trail. And I'm not gonna be like, let's do a confetti cannons in the middle of the rail trail. Cause you know, like it's different. They don't have the crews to come and clean it like New York City does. No, I'm not gonna do that, but we're gonna do it at mile 19.2. We're gonna live stream the whole thing. It's gonna be epic.

I'll be the one filming and I'm not pulling that trigger. yeah, this first Av was incredible. It was like mile 18 again. It was such a party. Just dancing, look, trying to take it all in again. Incredible. We're past a lot of people. Did you have any more fans, people like cheering for you guys specifically, like Hannah's friends? Hannah had a ton.

We stopped a lot for Hannah. There's this guy, Adam, and his wife Laura, they work at... Adam is Bex's producer. cool. I met him in Mexico. the picture in Mexico? That's the guy from the picture in Mexico. That's right. At their wedding. Right. They came and celebrated us after too. Cool. Eventually, we may get into the Bronx. I knew Maurice was in the Bronx. And ⁓ there's this panda, guy wearing a panda head, like...

a big head covering his whole head. And Hannah's like, is that him? And I go, I don't want to turn back. I don't think it was him. I really hope it's not. Finally, I did find Maurice and it was epic. It was epic. I knew he was there. In fact, everyone I wanted to see I saw except for Matt Wilbers. And Maurice was like perfect 10K left, 10K let's go, let's go. I think Hannah was really excited to see Maurice too, of all people.

and saw him. energy, his energy is unmatched. Right, right. Can I just tell you, I didn't know Mo was going to be there and he sent me a text message with the pictures of you guys and I immediately sent them to the group chat. was like, oh my God, I had no idea he was going to be there. So I was excited. Do you watch Instagram stories? I knew he was going to be there. I didn't know. I didn't know. I did not know Maurice was going to be there either. Again, I was busy hamster wheeling.

I was a pickle that day, you guys. So. I had no excuse. I had no hims to real excuse. I did catch up. So this next encounter was great because I told you how much fun I had with Janine at Peloton. She says, I'll be at mile 22. What do you need? And I said, you know what would be great? I think at mile 22, a Coca-Cola. Ah, she goes, Ooh, that's very trail runner. better than a Coke. A Coke's amazing.

So she had a six pack of little mini cokes. I'm like, just get the mini ones. And she had one already open, not carbonated. And she handed me that one right away. It took a sip. goes, do you want a carbonated one? I'm like, yeah. Cracked it open. It was so good. Hit the spot. chef's kiss. Hannah missed it because this was the second time I took a quick poop, which there really wasn't much there. But we ran by porta potties and there was nobody there. And I said,

I said, we got what, six miles to go. I knew I had one coming again, not a fart. I just go, I'm going to run in there real quick. Like again, not worried. And again, about maybe Hannah probably got four minutes ahead of me. Another chance to stretch my legs. my favorite part about this was, so in the end, I have a ton of blisters on my toes. It was kind of weird. Did it affect me during the race? Affected me immediately after the race while walking though.

I think I had the blisters, there could be multiple reasons. I don't know really, but we were running very slow, 10 minute 30 pace. Again, she kept yelling at me to slow down. My cadence was probably higher than usual, because I was taking very little steps. A lot of stutter steps as people run in front of you and everything. And I'm on my toes a little more slowing down at times. I think that's what happened there. Well, I got to stretch my legs at these times that I let her get ahead.

I said, you go ahead, I'm going to pee, I'm going to poop, I'm going to whatever. It was so, ⁓ man, it felt so good. Like, and I worked at the little, that Amber Fiera stride. Everyone's like, my God, I had so many people yell my name like Eric, look amazing. I'm like, yeah, dude, I am amazing. You are amazing. No, you are amazing. And like, I got the classic like point and smile and my God. When I stretched my, when I stretched my legs.

And I was running, they're like, look at this guy. He's killing it. I looked like Matt Wilpers in the Boston Marathon. Remember, Matt was super in the back. And when he passed us, he was flying. my God. Like I probably have one or two miles in the nines. And I felt so catching up. This is another another reason you guys, if you are running a big marathon where there's going to be a huge crowd, put your name on the shirt. It makes you feel like you're famous. Shout out to Hannah's friend. I forget her name, but she's one of the ones who passed. She actually bought

the little thing, it looks like a tiny bib. And it has all the letters in the alphabet and you put your name on it. Hannah did it for me too. So shout out them because I did a really poor job preparing for those moments and I didn't even know what shirt I was gonna wear until thank God, Ali, let me tell you, that shirt was incredible. And when I saw those photos of that back line day that you were on, at first I was like, please have a t-shirt, cause I don't wear singlets. ⁓

The T is Nothing new on race day, but I wore that. It was perfect. That shirt was perfect. So shout out to Backline for making a quality shirt. And it was just fitting. The color was right. Did me right. Said New York on it. was perfect. So thank you for that. And the you to Hannah's friend. It was so cool. Yes. Run with your name. Absolutely. And there were so many Hannah signs out there. There are Eric signs too. And I'd be like, that's me. I'd be like, look at my name.

That's me. It was so much fun. What's the street now? We're running towards Central Park, so we're running the opposite way of First Ave, so we're on that road. Fifth Ave. Fifth Ave. Yeah. It was pretty cool. Fifth Ave Mile. It was very... Is it only a mile? No, I actually don't know how long you're on Fifth Ave for, but it's long and it's pretty hilly. I mean, not hilly, but it's a gradual incline. The party was just as epic.

I would say there was less music, less like First Ave and that Mile Eight section and Fourth Ave, like there were bands, there were DJs. There was that too, but maybe just a little less, but the crowds are just as loud and the crowds had so much energy. And I could see people who were like traveling the course going one point to one point to one, because I recognize the signs and I'm obviously running near people that they're cheering for. This one sign said, ⁓ pain is bread.

in French. It is. And it had like a little. did. Wait, is really? that. It really is. Oh, OK. I didn't know. you ever heard of that? Like, what is it? Au Bon Pain? Like the it's a restaurant. That's what it means. You're right. Good bread or something. Is that what it is? I used to more you know. The more you know. Learn something new today. like that one. Oh, by the way, like.

Some people were shouting out my glitter too. Oh, good, good. Yeah, obviously. If they don't shout out the glitter. people who would run around me like, love the glitter. Love the glitter. I'm going to buy you some. Yep. Christmas present. It's going to be my thing. I'm telling you. Will you put it on for a Christmas party? Just decorate your head with red and green. Running only.

running like racism. Come on. Now, who's the party? can't come home. I can't come home from being out drinking and you can't. ⁓ can you imagine that's even funnier over and be like, officer, I have an explanation for this. Right. Right. Right. I'm a bobble. Getting back into into everything. I was watching one of your stories on the Queensborough Bridge and you said, you guys.

Was that? That was the first one. Just wanted to make sure we covered every code brown. Yeah, we're good. That was the first one at mile 14. I talked about it on mile 15. Gotcha. And then right after Maurice, it was a golden opportunity. I would have been fine, but you don't want a chance at it when you're taking a world major photo at the finish line. You got your hands in the air like you just don't care and you got poop down your leg. You don't want to be that guy.

Listen, so fifth Ave was your second or right after first? No, this was right after seeing this was in the Bronx like leaving the bro. This is like when I saw Janine at mile 22 Hannah this was like 12 seconds after that poop and Hannah was ahead of me. So Hannah missed Janine. So I was just like what 22 four miles to go. Let's feel good. And I got to stretch my legs there.

And maybe I was going a little too fast for Hannah because she starts getting mad at me. Eric, like Alex says to us, my brother, when we passed them at mile 23, last time we passed Oh, they saw you again. Yeah, three times total. They almost missed us the second two because just like getting around transit wise, I guess it was, was not as nice as Iron Man when you're just hanging out in a beautiful village. But they almost missed us, I guess, both times. Alex goes, who's going to win? And I pointed to Hannah.

And I thought Hannah maybe thought like maybe I was purposely going to try to beat her or whatever. Like that wasn't my goal. But I am like, I'm feeling great. I really am feeling great. And we take this quick right hand, left hand into central park. And I remember the song playing at these two girls standing on top of the fence, like the hands in the air. It's like, I want to dance with somebody. I want to feel the heat with somebody. Anyways, I remember that. Beautiful. That was beautiful.

And we enter Central Park. Central Park's very nice. This was the only time I thought like, ⁓ there's a hill, but it was a downhill. Like you could feel the downhill. Like it was good, good little downhill. And Hannah's like, as we're getting closer and closer, like stop running away. I'm like, I'm not running away. But like the road's super wide and I have so much room to like maneuver.

and everything. And then it was mile, right at the mile 25 marker, I saw Aaron Azar, Michael Michael motorcycle and a big sign that said free pizza. And they did not know who I was when I pulled up. no. They did not know. And they go, you want pizza? I go, no, I'm allergic. But I quickly said, hi. I actually purposely said, my God, it's Michael Michael motorcycle. I love that everybody notices Aaron. Right.

And he says that on their pod and he maybe he was a little awkward or something or he didn't know how to react. And so he was quiet and Aaron just goes, do you want pizza? So what did you say to him? just I who I was. Oh, so cool. And this other woman came up really quick and grabbed Aaron's attention like I want a picture. So Aaron's like, what do I do? I go, you take a picture with her. And I was like, this is my sister.

Her first marathon, super fun. Okay, can we take a quick, the video? Cause my thing was take the videos. Yes. Yes. take the picture. Let me get my phone out. Cause I wasn't expecting them until about 10 feet before I saw them. Right. And then we run the last mile. You take another right. You take a right on Columbus as the band playing and you run down whatever and you cross the finish line. I put the phone away and I told Hannah, said, Hey, FYI, take

like cross the finish line, then stop your watch. Don't be the person stopping their watch right at the finish line to get the exact second. And she goes, no, I know, I've done a few races now. And she's like, every time there's a photographer, Eric, photographer, Eric, photographer, she looks, she has her thing like, She's so cute. So I was so excited for her watching her go through those experiences. It was so much fun.

It was so much fun. We crossed the finish line. We get our medals. I screwed up taking the video of her getting hers. I actually asked her to take it off and do it again. And then some woman walked in front and I wasn't going to do it again. then mine wasn't as good as yours. I don't know why, but it was okay. sucked. I feel like any would have been better. But you had to like go far for yours and you had to like get it from someone who was like, looked like they were on the spectator area. You have to clear the finisher chute, Well, I mean, we did too. Welcome to the majors, Eric.

New York does it better than Chicago. 50,000 people around. mean, can legit say that. Like, I don't know how another marathon is going to compare to this marathon. You just got to run him. Figure it out. Did you and Hannah have the same finish time or am I making that up? Exact to the second. You had the exact down to the second. We did it right. That's impressive. That's really impressive. actually shocked. Like, it's really easy to not do that, but you guys must have planned. Yeah.

planned accordingly. And with all your stops and everything? Yeah, we're pretty spectacular. So you finished. Tell me about this medal, dude. Tell me about the medal because you're Mr. Mr. Nothing. Chicago sucks. This medal is going to be so much better. Look at this beauty. Uh-huh. Yeah, it's a nice medal. Look all that beauty. Gold. This is a world major.

Metal. I get it, man. You know what? I am just looking forward. I really hope that Chicago will step up for the 50th anniversary. That's what I want. What year? Is that next year? No. That's in 2028. So you're going to allow them more years of mediocrity? I don't think it's mediocre. I like them. You're just picky. It needs to be world major worthy, like the elevation and everything.

I know Ali's looking at this like, why didn't I run? Like now I don't have that She had no FOMO. I had no FOMO. I had no FOMO on race day, but I do have medal FOMO because that's a cool medal. It was incredible. It was absolutely incredible. ⁓ This medal is super cool. Like this medal is the, like some medals are just too much, right? Like I love the Millennium medals. I'm not saying they're too much, but they have a lot to them. Yes.

This is, it is definitely bigger than your Chicago one, but it's not huge. I would say this is the Iron Man size that I have that I brought over to your house. in circular where Iron Man's all the square. And it feels nice. It's funny though, like he sent us a picture and I go, it doesn't look that big. Just trying to push his buttons. Well, I, cause I sent the video, I sent this privately. I'm going to post it now because you're saying this. I go, look at this metal, Erica.

Chicago's got nothing on this. And then I go, oh, don't worry. I'm just, I'm not going to publicly put that out there. You don't get mad at me. Don't get mad. I'm going to post that now. can have your opinion. I have mine. So that is a nice one. It is a really nice metal. I'm dissing that one at all. It is gold. It is shiny. It is beautiful. It's got, it doesn't have the elevation profile. If you like turn it on, is that what you're showing us? Yeah. Yeah.

I love the conversation. We actually had someone reach out to us and said that they loved it so much. He's taken all his medals, bring it to his classroom, and they're measuring them all in like this fancy measuring tool. I'm like, yes! That is cool. That is really cool. Yeah. It's a fun experiment. You know what else was cool? The poncho. Ah, you guys have bright orange ones. The ones I have are blue. they're fleece on the inside. I have blue ones. Yeah. From New York, Erica? Mm-hmm.

Ooh. I could dig one out. What did Chicago have? Like a space blanket? Yeah, shitty heat You know, we got to figure out, could you lose your world major, you know? Just over that. Hey, Boston doesn't even give you really good ones, or at least they didn't when I did that. I like, why don't they, actually, now that I think about it? No, it's always heat sheet. because they're always in the crazy, like, random weather. You could get anything out of that. It's grab bags. I know. mean, you get anything in November.

Let me tell you, I've never run Boston. I've had many people tell me they still love it the best. Bill the other day said it was his favorite. Well, at the time he never ran New York. He's got a six star. It's going to be hard for anyone to beat this. It's going to be hard, even my own favorite personal bias opinion. You have some more stars to run, my friend. Yeah, you do. But Boston still you have to do at least Boston and Chicago before you.

Yeah, Boston's still the greatest city like there's a lot of things that annoyed me with New York City like you know You'd think they try to clean that place a little bit, but know power wash you think they'd call the metro the tea I don't You got every city has a nice now The tea is nice like like a lot of New York. I told Hannah this I go you don't remember this like from the 90s because you were too little

But a lot of New York reminded me of Boston in the 90s, reminded me of the big dig, when the highways were above the ground and the subway was, the T was above the ground. And now it's all really nice and pretty and the roads are underground. Like, by no means is Boston perfect. It is the city of champions. It is the greatest city in world. But a lot of New York, especially driving around Brooklyn and Queens, reminded me of Boston in the 90s. They just haven't been able to get out of that era.

because it's so massive. Like you try to rebuild something, they're gonna cause a hundred more hiccups. I don't know. I gotta share this random memory. When they were like redoing Boston, basically, I remember being young in the car with my parents, driving down where the tunnel would eventually be, but they were redoing. You saw the garden. were, yep, they were redoing the garden and I saw it cut in half.

Literally cut they weren't redoing it. They built the new garden and they built it nine inches away from the old one and they had to take the old one down. But you could see like the seats on the inside like from the highway. you were just right there. Wait that's actually kind of cool. I'm gonna find a picture for you Allie. I don't remember ever seeing that myself but the pictures are That's like a vivid memory for me and I don't really know why but I think it was just so cool and something so something you don't see very often.

Well, imagine wall imagine like driving by Madison Square Garden and seeing it cut in half and so you see the outside of the building but you also see the inside with the seats and everything that's yeah. Yeah, yeah, super cool. But yeah, we did it. You did it. Hannah's a marathon. did it. Hannah's a the end I saw Bert. And by the way, I do want to shout out Michael from Will Run For It. You did mention earlier, I ran into him at the walking out of the Expo. yes, yes, yes. I was so happy to see him.

I have his name here, I need to make sure I say that. I was so thrilled to see him. But yeah, we did it. Hannah's a marathoner. We found our family after, we went out, we Yeah, what'd you do to celebrate? Well, there was some confusion there. I actually thought we going back to our places first, cleaning up and changing. And I even told Hannah, like, I don't think I'm gonna go out for food because once I take a shower and put on comfy clothes, like, I'm laying down.

I thought that's what we were doing. And then they're like, no, we're going out to eat at a brewery. And I go, what kind of food they have. It's a brewery. Yeah. What kind of food? It's a brewery. Apparently breweries don't do food. Like I don't go out a lot. I don't go out a lot, I feel like it's not like the Sammy Adams experience. Like in New York, there are a lot of different rules. That was so fun. Yeah. Because Sam Adams brewery in Boston had

It was awesome. mean we like ate. yeah, you could like eat a meal. So apparently you you bring food to the brewery. So you go to the brewery, they got tables, you bring your own food. And so there was some confusion there. And the confusion wasn't just me. I wasn't the only one. Like my mom's like, I don't know what we're doing. Right. But Hannah, Hannah to her, you know, kudos because she knew what we were doing. I just don't think we all.

had it wrapped around our heads. okay, why is Mike going over here? And why isn't he coming with, you know, well, he's getting a vegan pizza and everyone's like, well, we don't want vegan pizza. Well, the vegan was for me, I guess. And I am thrilled. I to He's so thoughtful. I am thrilled we went there right after the race because if I went back to the hotel, showered and changed, I was like, I'm gonna peace out. Put my feet up because I had those blisters on my toes. So, but.

Yeah, had, lot of Hannah's friends came there again, talked to Adam for a long time. That was great. He's the one who works at Peloton. And ⁓ he's awesome. Talked to some other people and a lot of, ton of people come and say congratulations. Again, we're in Queens now. We're far away from the city. ⁓ the worst part was probably getting on the subway and getting back and everything, because it was just way overcrowded. But yeah, it was great. It was great. So.

We've been talking for so long. I love this. we do the AMA? That was such a great recap. What? Oh, thank you. What other questions do you have for some select ones. No, no, no. What do you have just off the top of your head? Are you and Hannah going to run another marathon together? Perhaps Chicago. Oh, sure. Absolutely one day. I don't know which one. Hannah's in this running game for life now. I'll tell you that. I love it. We've got to convert. is. She's one of us. One of us.

Well, dude, I don't have any more questions. At least you covered. I think you covered everything I could possibly want to know about this marathon. And you did such a good job with your social media. Like I felt like I was there, especially during the race. You did such a good job just like capturing the vibe. I just want to tell you how proud I am of you. Like I know you trained really hard for it and you were like you were tossing out like, I do I run fast or run with Hannah? And I'm glad you made the decision to run with your sister.

I just think that's an experience like not everybody gets and the fact that you got to do that, it's so special. And the two of you just crushed it and enjoyed the day and you made it count. So I'm proud of you both for doing it. yeah, here's to more running together. Yeah, I had a blast. I have a few things here I want to mention, just like some bullet points here. I'm bummed there's some people I didn't get to see. I didn't get to see Jared or Kelly and there was more that I wish I got to see or got to hang out with more.

I should have bought something at the expo. yeah, you know, go fund me or somebody go online, buy me. I'm an XL hoodie. Maybe I'm a large now, you know, T-shirt. going to try to find you something buddy. I found the website. Definitely a sticker. And then, ⁓ I'm a little disappointed in the two of you. No surprise guests, no one calling into the pod. I'm sorry.

You're more thoughtful than we are, we're sorry. Yeah, you are. You're just too good at podcasting. It's like unfair. Then the other thing. Thank you. But the other thing is I wrote subway surfing. Every two minutes on the subway, you hear an ad about how subway surfing kills and it just got so annoying after a while. I don't think I've ever heard that. Always. It is like.

I'm so and so from whatever and subway surfing kills. It's not cool. It's almost like the 90s. Don't do drug commercials. Stay in school. Don't do drugs. The subway surfing ads on the subway were insane. I want to thank, you know, everyone who helped me fundraise. I know who you are. Not to say I know who didn't fundraise. It'll help me. I know who you are. Who helped? And also my raced hats, right socks, Firefly, UFOs.

⁓ All the brands that helped donate for that huge charity night. We had over 80 gifts But those were some of the big ones ⁓ This was so much fun. I wish I could have logged every week vlog number three is still like done But I need to do the fine-tuning I will finish that because it's really great from the signet Elliott Delta dental 5k It was so much fun. I can't wait to do it again, and I'm gonna do it again on November 6th

I just want to say that I'm proud of you as well. Thank you. And to echo what Erica said, I think it's really special that you got to run with Hannah and it's really cool that we get to hear your experience and then we're going to hear Hannah's next week. So thanks for sharing everything.

Again, echoing Erica, I don't think that we could have asked you anything in addition to what you shared because you shared everything. Well, I promise to spare no details. ⁓ You didn't. I've never had my own did not. So this is my own episode. It's... I didn't think I would do this for an episode until I was there and how much fun I had. I'm like, you know what I almost did? I almost thought, I thought to myself like, I might just do a solo.

and see how it goes. I'm like, can't do that. But I was thinking about like- recap episode? Yeah. Oh, that's not fun. Come But I still kind of, but yeah, you're right. You're right. It's not. But it was so much fun. Everyone I saw was amazing. I can't wait to go and do more of these and be presence at them. Made a lot of connections, talked to a lot of people, had a ton of fun. It was, it was, it was perfect. So, I mean, everything from the weather to-

If you're still listening, remember we'll be at the Manchester Marathon on Sunday. So I might be a little late, but I'll be there. You'll be there. I love the effort you're putting in. ⁓ wait, Erica, are you not running the half, the Boston half?

No, I am running the Boston half and I'm it and then I'm coming right up to Manchester. To record live. well I have to see you. I have to see you before the race then. Oh, that's right. Cause we're doing the distance medley. Yeah, we You should just shoot up to Manchester we're done. Thank fucking God. Ellie, just shoot up to Manchester after. Wait, like, I actually could cause I'm driving Jump in the car with Erica. Well, she's driving. Well, would drive with, I would drive like next to Erica. Yeah, come and hang out in Manchester and jump on the live pod and see what we're doing over here.

It's cool shit. It is really cool. Okay, let's let's converse about that. All right. We'll talk after this. We'll sidebar. This was a ton of fun. Listen, if you're still listening, thank you because I had a lot of fun sharing my story and I love to pump everyone else's tires. if I get one of these every 200 episodes, I'll be pretty happy.
