Every life is made of chapters.

Some end by choice. Some end without warning. Some we have been trying to close for years and haven't quite managed. A relationship. A job. A version of ourselves. A period of life that has run its course and is ready, now, to be honoured and released.

This short exercise guides you through the felt experience of closing a chapter. Not rushing past it. Not pretending it didn't happen. But honouring it fully, for everything it gave and everything it cost, until it is ready to close on its own.

And then, very gently, turning towards what comes next.

Not knowing what it holds. Not needing to. Simply stepping towards the unwritten page with peace.

Close your eyes, take one slow breath in, let it go, take another deep breath in, let that breath go. You already know what this is all about. Something has brought you here. Chapter that's ending, or chapter that needs to end, or that you have known for some time is complete, even if you haven't quite allowed yourself to feel that yet. It could be end of a chapter of a period of your life, might be a relationship, a job, a version of yourself that you've been holding on to. Something that was real, and now quietly, it's time to let it go. You don't need to name it out loud because you already know what it is. Simply let it be present here with you in this moment. This chapter deserves to be recognized, honored before it closes. So let's honor it. Think about what this chapter gave you, even it was difficult. What did this chapter give you? Let whatever comes come, a feeling, an image, a word, a face, a memory. Simply allow it to be there without judgment, without even needing for it to make sense. And also acknowledge what it has cost you. Was it heavy? What did you give or lose or leave behind along the way? Acknowledge it, it was real and mattered, and now one more thing. What did this chapter teach you? About yourself, about life, about what your needs are. What will you carry forward and what will you leave here when you go? Let that arrive to. This chapter was part of your life. Maybe in ways that you don't fully see it yet. In ways that will only become clear from other side of what comes next. What it gave you, what it cost, what it taught. Hold it with both hands and feel it. Not forced, not rushed, simply notice whether something in you in this chapter has reached its natural end. Whether it has said everything you needed to say, given everything it had to give. Whatever that is, let it be, it's complete. Simply to sit here with this chapter until you simply know that it's completed, that moment of completion, that sense of something setting into its final place, a wholeness, a quiet that's different from the quiet before it, knowing that that's done. I'm ready, it's done. Maybe you'll feel it as a sound, a click, something closing, maybe it's a feeling, a gentle release in a chest, a breath that comes more easily than the one before. Maybe it's just simply knowing, quiet, certain, finite peace. This chapter is now closed, complete, done. Take a deep breath. Let that breath go. And now there's a page in front of you, beautifully blank, clean, unmarked. You don't know what will be written on it, no one does. This next chapter has just begun, and its story is not yet yours to see, and that's exactly how it should be, simply because that's life. Stand at the threshold of it. Notice you are welcoming with open arms the space that exists between one chapter closing and this one, the next one beginning. This space is full of possibility, it's full of everything you brought from the chapters behind you, the gifts, the lessons, the strength, and this one is open, peacefully open. Take one slow breath in and feel yourself walking towards it, not with urgency or fear, simply with peace. This next chapter is here now, and you're ready, stepping into it, and when you're ready, gently open your eyes. Welcome.
