Hello my beautiful friends, and welcome back to Up Your Total Glow. I am so happy that you are here, and today I would like to start by asking you a question. Have you ever had one of those days where the world simply feels like way too much? It's weighing on you and weighing you down. It feels like there are too many headlines, too many messages, too many decisions, and definitely too many expectations everywhere. And maybe you open your phone in the morning just to check the weather, of course, and suddenly you've absorbed ten different crises, three opinions, and someone else's soul perfect morning routine. And all of this before you enjoyed your first warm grounding sip of tea. And if we lay on top of that, the situation that many of us are living in, in a time where the global and the political climate feels fragile, tense, and very uncertain, where news about conflict and war and violence seems everywhere and can reach us in an instant. And that even if it's actually happening far, far away from us. So this means that our nervous systems are constantly receiving signals that you, I, the world, isn't entirely safe. And that even if we are physically safe, so even if we have the privilege to be physically safe, because I know many of us aren't at the moment, and it breaks my heart that this is the case, and I feel the best thing I can do right now is to continue to spread more love, more light, and more nervous system safety. So even if we have the privilege to be physically safe in our homes, this doesn't mean that your body also feels safe. Today I want to talk about this through the lens of Ayurveda because Ayurveda explains very beautifully why modern life can feel so incredibly overwhelming, and more importantly, also what we can do about it. But before we begin, I would like to share a gentle note with you. This podcast is shared for educational and inspirational purposes only. It is not a substitute for medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice. So please always seek personalized support from a qualified professional when you need it. Okay, so let's dive a little bit deeper. Why is it that our modern life overstimulates our system so much? So from an Ayurvedic perspective, the world we live in today massively increases our Vata energy. And if you've been listening for a while, then you know that the Vata energy is the energy of movement, of change, of speed, and of stimulation. And yeah, when you look at modern life, I feel you can almost see that Vata energy everywhere. Information is flying at us, we've got constant notifications, and of course, we are scrolling from topic to topic. Many of us, me sometimes included, are eating while answering emails. Or you may be listening to a podcast while planning dinner, while replying to a message. Yeah, that's me too sometimes. So our minds are really doing mental gymnastics all day long. And if we add to that mix global uncertainty, conflict, and difficult world events, our nervous system can very easily shift into a subtle or not so subtle state of vigilance. And you might not even realize that. Yep, guilty. And that's exactly what happens to your nervous system too. So overwhelm is not weakness. Overwhelm really is your nervous system saying to you, I have received more stimulation than I can process right now. Stop enough. And Ayurveda would say here, your agni, that is your digestive fire, is completely overloaded. And not just with food, but with life. And if you've listened to me, you've heard me say this before, and it is the absolute truth, because we don't just digest food and meals, we also digest experiences and conversations and information and emotions, everything that we take in with our five senses. And when too much comes in at once, our system becomes saturated. My digestion works, it's steady and happy, and my mind feels spacious and not overflowing, still calm. And then there are very other, very different seasons where maybe on the outside nothing looks wrong, but inside I can tell that I'm just pushing a little bit more and that I'm listening a little less, and that I'm moving faster than my system would actually like or can take at the moment. And yes, everything still gets done, but I will realize that I've been operating slightly more on autopilot, and that's usually my signal. I've learned to listen to that one because this means my body is whispering and it's asking me still quite gently, let's slow this right down. And I learned the hard way that when I ignore this whisper, then my body will start to shout, and that's not pretty. So there's a huge power in slowing down, and in Ayurveda, this is the medicine for excess vata because it grounds vata. And I know this is nothing that is very dramatically, and it's also not about doing this in perfect ways. As always, gentle goes a long way, and I like the visual of a snow globe. If you keep shaking the globe, the snow keeps flying everywhere. But the moment you set it down and allow stillness, everything naturally settles. And it's exactly the same with your nervous system. And you can also imagine your mind as a lake. When there's constant wind and disturbance, the surface is very choppy, and you can't see clearly. But when the wind softens, the water becomes all becomes all calm, and suddenly you can see all the way to the bottom. So clarity doesn't come from thinking harder, it truly comes from creating stillness. Stillness within that is. And here I would like to ask you something. When your life feels overwhelming, what is usually the first thing that you remove from your life? Is it rest? Is it your quiet time? Or is it time to move your body or time spent in nature? Because it is my experience that we often remove the very things that actually regulate us. And here Ayurveda reminds us it's those small, stabilizing rituals that are not luxuries, they are our anchors. And here is one very simple practice that I would like to invite you to try this week. And I call it the pause between moments. So this week, three times a day, I'm inviting you to pause for just one minute. Yeah, one minute. Nothing, then of course keep breathing. And if you'd like to feel your feet on the ground and let your shoulders soften just one minute. Because it will tell your nervous system that you are safe and that you can settle. And when your nervous system settles, your clarity, your inner calm will return. So I'm pretty sure that the world will continue to move very quickly, and maybe soon even quicker. And unfortunately, I also think that difficult events will still be happening around the globe. But your nervous system does not have to move at the same speed. You are allowed to create pockets of calm. You are allowed to protect your energy. You are allowed to slow down. And when you do something beautiful happens. Your body remembers how to regulate. Your mind remembers how to focus. And your glow returns naturally. And if you feel called to explore how to support your body, your digestion and nervous system in a more personalized way, I would love to connect with you. And you can book a free 15-minute connection call with me. The link is in the show notes. Please never forget, always remember that you are love, you are light, and you are already whole.
