Up Your Total Glow
Up Your Total Glow is for high-functioning people who look like they have it all together but feel disconnected, depleted or no longer themselves underneath it all.
If your body feels off, your energy isn’t holding, or what used to work no longer does… this is where we go deeper.
This podcast goes beyond surface-level wellness, routines or “fixing” symptoms.
It’s about understanding what your body is actually communicating — and learning how to respond in a way that restores real energy, stability and vitality.
Through a deeply personalised, body-led approach grounded in nervous system work and Ayurvedic wisdom, Ruth Balsiger guides you back into connection with your body, your energy and your natural rhythm.
Inside, you’ll explore:
• why your energy drops — even when you’re doing everything “right”
• how to shift out of survival mode without forcing or overriding yourself
• what your body truly needs to feel safe, supported, and steady again
• how to rebuild vitality in a way that is sustainable and deeply personal
This is not about discipline, restriction or pushing through.
It’s about working with your body instead of against it.
Because when your body feels supported, everything changes — your energy, your clarity, your capacity, and how you experience your life.

Hello and welcome back to Up Your Total Flow. I am so grateful that you're here with me today, Truly. And before we begin today, let's take a moment together. So wherever you are, pause and take a slow breath in and a slow breath out. And gently ask yourself, how am I arriving today? No need to change anything, just notice. And from that place let's begin. Your body has been trying to get your attention all day. I'm very sure of that. When you woke up this morning, what did you feel? Not what you thought you should feel, but what was actually there? Do you know? Can you recall it? Was there tension in your shoulders? Or a certain heaviness in your stomach? Or did you feel restless? So that you were reaching for your phone before you grounded yourself. Or maybe you didn't feel much at all. And if that was the case, you're not alone. Because your body is always communicating. However, somewhere along the way, many of us stopped listening. Instead, we learned to override our hunger or we learned to push through exhaustion and ignore that quiet whisper that says something feels off. Not necessarily because we wanted to, but because that's what we were taught. So if you feel disconnected from your body, if you feel like you can't quite trust it anymore, there's nothing wrong with you. You've just lost the connection. And today we begin rebuilding it. Today we are talking about how to trust your body again. Not just the loud signals, but the quiet ones too. But before we do, here's my gentle note for you. This podcast is for education and inspiration only, and it is not a substitute for medical advice. So please seek personalized support where you need it. So in my own journey, and you know about my own journey, from me nearly dying at the age of fifteen to the modeling world, to motherhood, to rebuilding my life and career across continents. I noticed the same pattern every time. And that was I lost connection with my body. And whenever I did, I started to trust external voices more than the wisdom of my own. It always happened gradually. And usually it started with something like that there was pressure or expectations, moments where I felt like I needed to be to be different than I was. And then I started to override. Or I should push through. So this tiny word should is a great signal that already I wasn't aligned anymore with my internal wisdom. And if you are honest, maybe you are recognizing this too. Doing what you think you should, while something inside of you quietly disagrees and knows better. And when we do this, this follows or this comes with disconnection, and this means that your body gets quieter because your body is so good at adapting, and eventually this quietness turns into a certain numbness. So this means you can't clearly feel your hunger anymore, or you don't know anymore when to rest, or even what feels good. You can't feel your joy as clearly as you could feel it before. So you're living in your head, not in your body. This doesn't mean though that your body stopped speaking. It's just that you got very, very good at not hearing it. And this doesn't just affect your health, it affects everything, it affects how you make decisions, how you relate to yourself, and how safe you feel in your own life. So if you're feeling disconnected, maybe unsure, or second guessing yourself, that makes complete sense. And let me assure you, it's not permanent because your body hasn't given up on you and never ever will. However, your body is waiting for you to listen again. So, as you might have guessed it, what changed everything for me was Ayurveda. Because Ayurveda taught me something so simple, yet so incredibly powerful and empowering. It taught me that every symptom is in fact communication. So your body is never ever working against you. It's always trying to guide you. But here's where, from my experience at least, many people get confused. Because there are two things happening in your body all at once. So there is your prakrit, which is your natural constitution or your natural blueprint, and then there is your vikrit, and that is your current state of imbalance. And for a long time I didn't understand this either, and I thought I needed more discipline or more structure or better retinance, but the more I overrode my body, the further away I fell from it. Because I wasn't responding to what was happening right now. I was trying to follow rules, and I would like to like to give you an example from my own practice. So I had this most beautiful client, and let's call her Sarah, and she came to me following a Vata advice because she had done an online quiz and had learned about herself that she had a vata property. So she added lots of warming spices like ginger and nutmeg and clove into her diet, and also more oils because vata is very dry, and she wanted to make sure that yeah, she wasn't as dry. However, instead of feeling better, she felt worse, she felt more irritable and more overheated, and her skin became super reactive. So when she came to me, to me, it honestly felt like she was on fire. Because this wasn't about her constitution. Yes, her constitution was vata, but she had a massive current imbalance, and that imbalance showed a lot of excess heat, a lot of pitter. And in Ayurveda, we always work with qualities, they are called gunas, and the core principle is that like increases like. So adding more heat, more oil, more intensity, when there was already a lot of bitter imbalance, only amplified what was already there. So what she needed in this moment, even though she has a Vata Prakriti, was cooling and softening and calming. And when we did that, everything changed. So that is super important for you to understand, and that's the key. It's not necessarily always about what you are, it's about what your body needs right now. And I know you might be thinking now, how do I even begin to understand that? And this is where I want you to remember that it's not about being perfect or figuring anything out in a perfect way. This is about you starting to listen, and you don't have to become an Ayurveda expert for that, not at all. Okay, and before I share anything practical today, I want to invite you into a small moment. So if you can just pause and take a slow breath in and a slow breath out, and just notice what is your body feeling right now, not what you think it should feel, but what's actually there? So yes, noticing if there is any tiredness, any heaviness or restlessness, or anything else, is there a part of you that feels tired? Tired maybe of trying to get things right all the time, tired of doing and pushing. And the invitation is to simply notice no fixing, no changing, and definitely no judging. Instead, get curious. Oh, this is interesting. How exciting. And then listen, what do I need right now? Ask yourself that question. And you don't have to have the answer, that's okay too. Just asking the question is where trust may gently begin again. Okay, and let's get practical now. So rebuilding trust with your body is never ever about perfection, and that is so important. It is about the relationship that you have with yourself, and so that you can build this trust in an empowering way, it is really important to start small, smaller than you would maybe like to, because it is my experience that we all want everything now, and then yeah, take steps that are actually too big. Okay, so remind yourself this isn't something that you need to fix, and definitely not overnight or by yesterday. This is about rebuilding one moment at a time. And here's my step number one for you, and I would like to call it the three breath check-in. It's super simple. I'm inviting you to before you do pause and take three breaths. Really feel your belly as you do, and then ask yourself, what do I need? What does my body truly need? And then step number two, I call them daily check-ins. And here I would like to invite you to ask yourself in the morning when you're getting up, what does my body need today? And then repeat that question at lunchtime. What does my body need now? What has changed since the morning? And then again in the evening. What went well today, or what would my body have needed more of? What less? How is my body feeling now? And again, just notice. And here's your step number three, and I call it honor one signal. And what I mean with that is that I'm inviting you to pick one signal, so that could be that you pick hunger, and then all day long truly commit to that signal. So that means you will be eating when you're truly hungry, and you will stop eating when you feel satisfied. That is regardless of the portion size and regardless of the time. Or you might pick tiredness and rest. So if that's your pick, then all day long you will truly listen to your body and you will take rest, even if it's a little moment of rest, when you need it, and you will go to sleep, go to bed when you're tired, not when everything is done. Or if you pick the signal of movement, this means that you give your body movement that really brings the best out in you. So that feels joyous and good, not the kind of movement that you think you should do, but that you actually hate and depletes you. So maybe this means you're dancing in the kitchen, or gift yourself legs up the wall in between meetings. And it is about these small actions, those small actions that you can repeat the next day and the day after, and the day after that. That is what builds trust. It's never about those grand gestures because remember, they are overwhelming, and we might not be able to repeat that. So your body always remembers and knows how to guide you. What it needs, however, it needs to know that you are also listening. And if there's a part of you now that's thinking, what if I can't trust my body? What if my body wants chocolate cake for breakfast and then stay in bed all day long? How can I live my life from this place? How does this bring you to my goals? Bring me to my goals, and I completely get it. But really living from your head and yeah, making all decisions from there. But I really, really can assure you, and I know this for certain, your body's signals aren't random, they are messages, very important messages. And if, for example, your body is asking you for chocolate cake in the morning, and I'm not suggesting that this is how you live the rest of your life, this is telling you that you might be exhausted. So that sugar craving for quick energy is saying, Hey, I'm just flat out, I'm exhausted. Or it is telling you that it needs time to process emotions because it feels overwhelmed. So, what I'm trying to get here at is that your body might ask you for something for a need, for a deeper need that hasn't been met in a while. And when you start to listen and meet that need again. Things begin to shift, and you won't be craving that chocolate cake in the morning anymore. And you won't want to stay all day long in bed. I can absolutely promise you this. Your body is always trying to bring you back into balance, even if it doesn't feel like it at first. And yes, if you haven't listened for a while, your body might be shouting and be a little bit dramatic about it. So yeah, that's the chocolate cake. But it's not about that you have lost discipline. It's really about starting to meet your body again. It's about building this relationship again where your body supports you, where you allow your body to support you, where you give your body that space again instead of you fighting it. And yes, I'm speaking always from my own experience as well. And I know for myself that I've rebuilt this relationship with my body more times than I can count. And I still have moments where I need to pause and ask, what do I actually need right now? But what I know is that your body isn't asking you to give up on your goals. Instead, it's asking you to reach them in a way that doesn't cost you your well-being, your health, your vitality, and your glow. So the clarity that you are looking for, it is and always will be within you. Don't outsource it. It lives in your body. And I'm inviting you to start listening today again. In fact, start right now. And know you don't have to have it all figured out. You just have to be willing to listen a little more each day. And if you'd like support with that, I've created a free vitality imbalance quiz. And it helps you to understand your current state, your current state of imbalance, so your vikritty, so that you can respond to what your body needs right now. And if you'd like more personalized support, not just understanding your current your prakrity, your blueprint, and your current imbalance, but also knowing how to actually apply that to your daily life. I also offer a vitality reconnection session, and that is a space where we look at your body, your patterns, and your lifestyle together, and then create a way forward that truly works for you. And you can find all of that at itriveforhealth.com, and of course, I will put the links in the show notes. Thank you so much for being here and for taking this step back towards yourself. Trust me, there's nothing more powerful and empowering that you can do for you. And never ever forget, you are love, you are light, and you are already whole. Much love, keep glowing.
