A Gluten Free Podcast
Low FODMAP Update, Gut Health & Upcoming Procedures
A Gluten Free Podcast
Episode 22
On today’s episode, I’m giving you a personal update on my low FODMAP journey and some important next steps in my gut health investigation.
If you caught Episode 20, you’ll know I’ve been experiencing ongoing gastrointestinal symptoms despite strictly following a gluten free diet for coeliac disease. After chatting with my GP, a dietitian, and a gastroenterologist, we decided to dig deeper into what could be going on.
In this episode, I’ll talk about:
- How I’m feeling two weeks into the low FODMAP diet
- What the process has looked like so far with food tracking and symptom monitoring
- How I’m using the Monash University FODMAP App
- What’s coming next, including my upcoming endoscopy and colonoscopy
This isn’t an easy process, and I want to be honest about the ups and downs. If you’re going through something similar — whether it's post-diagnosis confusion or lingering symptoms despite doing everything "right" — I hope this episode reminds you that you’re not alone.
🧠 What Is the Low FODMAP Diet?
The low FODMAP diet, developed by Monash University, is used to manage Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) symptoms. It's done in stages and should always be guided by a health professional. I’m currently in the elimination phase, working closely with my dietitian to track what foods may be contributing to my symptoms.
⚕️ Next Steps in My Gut Health Journey
My gastroenterologist has recommended both an endoscopy and colonoscopy to rule out anything more serious. I'll share what that process has been like leading up to the procedures, and why advocating for your health is so important — even after a coeliac diagnosis.
