[00:00:00] 10 ways to romanticize the fall season. Yes, I am one of those girls. I absolutely adore the changing of the seasons. I am meant to be in cooler weather. I have spent time in Bali. I have spent, I grew up in New Mexico, which is the desert. It's super hot. Although it does get a lot colder than people think in the winter.

But in my core, I love the coziness of chilly evenings, chilly mornings. Do I love? When you get to the tail end of winter, no, I don't, I'm over it. I want it to get a little bit warmer once the holidays are over, but cozy season, I am here for it. And because it's such a brief period of time, especially the fall, not usually winter.

I love to romanticize every single thing that I can about it. So let's talk about the ways that I do that.

First things first in the morning, I love to have a cozy warm beverage. I'm always been a coffee gal, usually decaf, but just the ritual of having coffee in the morning is something that I continue throughout the year. Sometimes it's iced. Sometimes it has a [00:01:00] little bit of caffeine, but when the weather starts to get a little bit cooler, I like to make it a little bit more special.

I like to add personally some element chocolate salt. It is so good. And I just do a sprinkle on top. So I put my Nespresso pot in decaf. I might add a little bit of cold brew in there. If I want some of the caffeine, sprinkle some of the element in there. And then I steam half and half in the Nespresso steamer as well.

You can use a little handheld frother if you don't have that at home and it makes it just so much more special and cozy. Adding maple syrup, adding some pumpkin pie spice, adding some cinnamon spice can make it a little bit more seasonal, but starting the morning with a warm, cozy beverage, absolute must.

Number two is leaf peeping. And I feel like this is kind of a given, but it might just be because I live in Colorado. And the foliage here, it's just part of what you do when it turns into the fall season is you take a trip to the mountains to look at the Aspen's changing. It is so stunning. Of course I love when the leaves change in the city as well, but I [00:02:00] try and get as much of the change as possible.

So we do take trips to the mountains during the fall season when I can. It's such a brief period of time when the leaves are changing. So. Sometimes if I'm out of town, like this year, I'm gone a lot of October, then I tend to miss a lot of it, which just breaks my soul in half. But even if you don't live near the mountains and you're in the city, Great fill up, but if you can take a little drive or a train ride somewhere just to get a different experience outside of your typical neighborhood, it can make all of the difference.

And it reminds us just how brief certain periods of time throughout life are and to be present for the changing of the seasons.

Plus it's just absolutely stunning.

At the beginning of every colder season, so fall, I like to get one high quality sweater. I'm definitely more of a minimalist when it comes to my closet. I would rather spend the money on one sweater that I'm absolutely in love with that will last me five years. Versus getting 10 cheaper ones that are going to be out of style or going to look [00:03:00] ragged within a year It's just my personal preference And there's something about knowing that what you're wearing is really high quality It was crafted with a little bit more care in mind that makes it so much cozier This year the one I have my eye on is from reformation.

It is the oversized v neck sweater I find a v neck much more flattering on me personally for my body type. I have broader shoulders. So That's what I have my eye on they have both a cotton version, which what happened to cotton sweaters I feel like everything now is wool Who can wear wool? It is so damn itchy or polyester or nylon or viscose.

I think I'm saying that correctly, but either way, it's so hard to find high quality sweaters that are not outrageously expensive. These are definitely on the pricier side,

but like I said, I prefer to have them last a long time. So the price is worth it to me.

And I will link those below.

Number four is baking. I love to bake when the summer is winding down. And do I use my oven during the summer? Yes. But do I love to use it in the [00:04:00] summer? No, I don't. So when it starts to get cooler, I love to take advantage of turning the oven on and baking banana bread, pumpkin bread, anything with a little bit more harvest spice.

So even in a typical banana bread recipe, I'll add more cinnamon, maybe throw some pumpkin spice in there to make it feel like I'm taking advantage of the transition of the seasons a little bit more. And I live alone. So if you're like, well, I like to bake, but I don't want to have every weekend, just a ton of muffins or these types of bread around.

I like to take half or more and give it to some of my friends. We do a baking exchange because they love to bake too oftentimes. And it makes it a lot more fun. Plus then your freezer is not stocking up with baked goods that will last you for the next 10 years.

the fifth way that I love to romanticize fall is darker nail polish. You can see this perhaps up close. It's, you don't know Jacques by OPI. I love a natural looking nail typically throughout the summer. I might do a brighter red to make it fun, but once the weather starts to cool, My darker [00:05:00] nail Persona comes out.

I love to get more moody. I like to get more jewel tones in there darker reds Especially as we transition into the winter, but even the fall Anything that's kind of a chestnut Brown shade I really really love I chose this one because after my color Analysis, and you probably just saw some chips on this nail But I discovered that slightly cooler tones look best on me.

I'm primarily neutral just slightly leaning cool I'm a light summer and go watch that video if you'd like So I've really noticed that if I do nail colors or use nail colors that are slightly cool It looks a lot a lot better on me than using ones that are very warm so Just thought I'd throw that out there in case you've had your color analysis done as well Number six is a fall scented candle. And this actually took me a while to find one I like because I find myself being really sensitive to fragrances, which I don't love because I love So many different scents when it comes to laundry detergent soaps candles, but my nose gets really really stuffy I [00:06:00] think I might have some type of allergic to reaction to it or something But this one I found that I actually have lit right here is by sniff and it is their pumpkin candle I will link that below Just having that smell in our homes brings back so many different memories oftentimes Hopefully good ones But it just sets the tone, sets the mood, winding down at night or maybe even the morning if you're having a cozy ritual morning where you just want to feel at peace.

Scents can really help us set the mood. So this one is one I highly recommend and I will absolutely be trying their gingerbread one once the winter season rolls around.

Number seven is seasonal cooking. Once the produce starts to shift away from all of the asparagus and the zucchini and the tomatoes of summer, which are so lovely during the summer by the end, I'm usually pretty sick of them. If I have to look at one more plate of tomatoes, especially when they just don't even taste great by the end of the season, I'm going to lose it.

Okay. We need to pass. We transition into squashes. I love root [00:07:00] vegetables, something I do. all fall and winter actually is I love to roast a big tray of my favorite root veggies every week that typically looks like carrots, parsnips, turnips, red onions, potatoes. And I adore my favorite squash is Delicata squash.

So every morning, not every single morning, but I tend to get into routines when it comes to breakfast. I love once the fall season enters to roast some Delicata squash to have on hand for the week. And I eat that with some scrambled eggs, some bacon and some red chili. I am from New Mexico. So red and green chili are just near and dear to my heart.

Having that red chili with the squash guys, you have to try it.

And then of course I'm making more things like chili and casseroles and I tend to start to lean naturally towards fattier cuts of meat because it's getting colder outside and my body has more of an appetite. In the summer I tend to eat less when it's super hot, in the winter that revs up and I roll with it.

Number eight is baths. Now, I am the type of woman who [00:08:00] takes a bath All year round. I don't care if it's 99 degrees outside. I set my AC and I take a bath. I just love to wind down with one, but it's so much more special. I must admit when the weather starts to get colder. So what I do to make my baths a little bit special is I like to put some honest bubble bath in there.

That's the brand honest. And it's unscented. Like I said earlier, I struggle with scents. That works really well for me. I put unscented Epsom salt bath in there as well. And then I have my little nightly wind down beverage, number one, which is magnesium. I've been using prepare your mind magnesium for about the last year and a half, but I'll be switching to Ned soon to give that a whirl.

And I put half a packet of the element drink element salt in there. It's electrolytes, and I can link those in the details below, but I mix this up Put ice in there, throw a splash of kombucha on there as well, and then get into the warm bath. Light some pillar candles in there. Also unscented, but you do [00:09:00] you.

And it is just the most magical wind down, especially as the sun starts to set earlier. It just really allows that transition from daytime into nighttime to feel really, really special and cozy.

Number nine is a nighttime cozy beverage. Yes. We are talking about the second nighttime beverage, but this one is warm and it is so cozy. I love to have hot chocolate. I'm a chocolate girl through and through, especially dark, dark chocolate. I like a little bitter. So you will probably want to add a little bit more sugar than I do.

But what I do to make my own is I put some almond milk or use whatever milk you like. I'm just not a cow's milk girl. I haven't been since I came out of the womb. So that's all there is to that. But I take almond milk and I blend it in my Nutribullet so it's a little bit frothy with dark cocoa powder.

And then I'll add some stevia or maple syrup depending on my mood You can sprinkle a little bit of that chocolate element that I put in my morning coffee sometimes in there as well Blend that up pop it in the microwave. You can do it in the stovetop if you are Anti [00:10:00] microwave and then of course, I always top it with whipped cream It just helps me get into that usually right before I start to read that cozy Wind down it's time for bed type of feeling Such a fall vibe.

Now number 10 might be a little controversial depending on your current life circumstances, but I love a pumpkin patch. And I know if you don't have kids going there, there's going to be kids everywhere. I love that though. I've always loved going there. I don't have kids, but with my friends who have children, I don't care.

It still brings the energy of this is delightful. Kids are excited about the pumpkins about Halloween coming. They have all of the fall seasonal. Produce that's there sometimes similarly to a farmer's market, which unfortunately tend to close pretty early around here because the weather can be really crazy.

But if you have access to a farmer's market, absolutely fall it up over there. But a farmer's market, pumpkin patch, any type of event that is centered around the season brings so much joy [00:11:00] to my heart. And it can just be one afternoon, even going for an hour just to get in that fall spirit.

I really love the idea of romanticizing my day to day life. I grew up thinking that life was about productivity and hustling and anything that was more creative or sensual or pleasure based was viewed as something that, unnecessary. And since I've started connecting more back to my feminine core, It turns out I'm a much more creative person than I ever thought.

I'm someone who likes to really engage with style and with the changing of the seasons, eating more seasonally, moving more seasonally. These things actually feel very natural to me. So once I started focusing on romanticizing the small details of my day, It only made sense to focus on that as the seasons changed as well.

And it's the small little things like this that can bring so much more joy to our days. And that permeates in everything, your relationship with food, how you show up in your relationships with your career, with your children and your [00:12:00] family, whatever that looks like, it touches everything. So I hope you take a little bit of time during this fall transitional season to enjoy it.

And I will see you in the next video.
