Welcome back friends. You may have noticed something different around here lately, we've been showing up with more content, more regularly, and that's no accident. Over the summer, we took a step back to reflect on what's working, where we can improve, and most importantly, how we can better serve you because that's what this podcast is about, serving our community, supporting anyone who's on the quest to become the best version of themselves, whatever that may look like for you. We're here to encourage you to challenge you and remind you that you can juggle it all your health, your fitness, your career, family, and life. Really, that reflection led us to make a few exciting changes. First, we're committed to bringing you a new episode every single Wednesday. And second, we've created a cadence so you know what to expect and can tune into the topics that resonate most with you. So here's how it works. Week one of every month is going to be about nutrition. We'll dig into education, tips and tricks, myths we can finally put to rest, and simply just strategies to fuel your body well. Week two will be all about fitness. Everything from workouts to building the physique that you want. Most importantly, finding ways to get your body moving. Week three, we focus on my mindset, because your health journey isn't just about your body, it's about your mind. We'll talk about staying focused, overcoming challenges, and how your fitness impacts every part of your life. And finally, week four is our brand new unfiltered episode. This is where we'll pull back the curtain. We'll talk about life, career, mindset, health, just the raw side of juggling at all. It's not scripted or polished, it's really just life unfiltered. And today is our very first unfiltered episode. I'm gonna be honest with you, I spent a lot of time thinking about what to share. I had so many different ideas, but one phrase just kept coming back to me, especially just given everything that we have going on in our world, and I just feel compelled to share it with you. The phrase is simple, but it is so powerful. More is caught than taught. I first heard this phrase from. Pastor T on the Ascent Church podcast based out of Virginia, which I often listen to on Monday mornings during my workouts. And when he says more is caught than taught, he's often talking about kids and how they watch what we do far more closely. Then they listen to what we say. But the more I've thought about it, the more I've realized this doesn't just apply to kids, it applies to all of us. I mean. Think about it for a second. How often are you influenced by what you see rather than what you're told? You see someone wearing a cute outfit or rocking a new pair of shoes, and before you know it, what are you doing? You're searching online to find the same thing. I know you do it because I do it too. Or you walk into a room where someone's energy is negative, they're angry or stressed, and before you know it, that energy rubs off on you. You're walking out of that room feeling upset or stressed if your boss stays late every single night, even if they tell you it's okay, go home. Don't worry about it. I got it. You start to feel guilty leaving on time. When you see every single night they're staying late, their actions speak louder than their words. That phrase more is caught than taught is true in our everyday lives, whether we realize it or not. It is especially true when it comes to our health. Think about it. When you start eating better, when you get up early to work out, when you choose water instead of soda, people around you notice even your spouse, kids or coworkers don't say anything about these choices you're making, but they are watching and they're noticing, and here's the truth, your consistency, your discipline. Your effort, all of it. It influences them far more than telling them what they should do. That's why it's so important to keep going, even when it feels like no one else is paying attention. Your example could be the spark that changes the health of your household or even the culture of your workplace. This doesn't just apply to fitness. If your workplace is negative, you can shift the energy by showing up with positivity. If you're surrounded by gossip, you can choose not to engage at home. When tensions rise, you can lead by responding with patience instead of frustration. The way you carry yourself, the actions you take sets the tone. I often find myself reminding myself of these things for my own life. It is the same with our health. Your kids might not ask why you're making grilled chicken and vegetables instead of ordering pizza, but they're watching. They notice your coworker might not say anything when you take a walk at lunch instead of scrolling on your phone. But they noticed, and let me tell you something about that. I started doing that a few years ago. I have a desk job and I'd sit in an office and man, at the end of the day, I would hardly get any movement and I would start to go a little crazy, to be honest. If I would get done with a meeting, especially if the meeting maybe got over a few minutes early, I would get up and I would go for a quick five minute walk around the block. That's all it was. It was a short walk and it allowed me to reset my mind process, the meeting that I just left, but it also gave me a renewed energy, so that way when I sat back down to start another task, I wasn't tired I was ready to refocus and continue on with my day. And you know what's funny is that the more that I did that, the more my peers caught on and then I started noticing that they were doing the same thing. Maybe just like I said, instead of sitting on their phone at their desk during their lunch hour, I noticed some of them would put their headphones in and go for a walk up to the end of the street and back. And some of them are still doing it today because I see them posting about it on Facebook, how they're walking at lunch and how they're focusing on getting more movement in. And I love that. And you wanna know something? I never said a word to anybody about it. I just simply started doing it and they saw me doing it. Then they started doing that for themselves, and then likely what happened is they started feeling better. They felt like they could perform better at work. They had more energy after their lunch because they didn't just eat lunch and then sit at a desk for four more hours. They ate lunch, went for a 20 minute walk, and then were able to come back and refocus and be productive. More really is caught than taught. Think about it when you are going to engage with your friends, maybe invite a friend for a walk instead of going to have a beer, start taking a walk after dinner as a family. These small daily choices truly have a ripple effect. They're impactful. Your spouse, your kids coworkers, and your friends, they see it. They see you, and they're watching, and that's what makes this phrase so powerful. More is caught than taught. It's really not just about influence, it's about responsibility. The truth is you are influencing the people around you, whether you mean to or not, every single day. So here's my challenge for you this week. Pay attention to how you're carrying yourself in your workouts, in your nutrition, in your relationships, and in your career. Ask yourself, am I modeling the kind of health, energy and mindset I want others to catch? And it's also important to remember the people that you surround yourself with. If you're around negativity all the time, you'll catch it. If you are hanging around people who aren't prioritizing their health, drinking, binge drinking, they are influencing you, and maybe it's time to just take a step back and reflect on that. Maybe that's partly why it's hard for you to stay committed to your health and fitness journey. Maybe you need to reconsider how you approach that in those environments. Maybe you need to put yourself out there a little bit and reach out to a friend and ask if they would come alongside you and be a walking buddy. If you surround yourself with people who value growth, health, positivity, that energy is going to rub off on you. The bottom line is more is caught than taught. Lead with your actions in the gym, in the kitchen, and in life. Focus on showing up as the healthiest, strongest version of yourself and watch how that energy spreads into every area of your world. Thank you so much for tuning in to our very first unfiltered episode. I hope this message encouraged you today. And if you're looking for someone to come alongside you in your health and fitness journey, couture fitness coaching, would love to help. You don't have to juggle it all alone.
