Mid - Year Reset
Christina: [00:00:00] I think a lot of times we can get to whether it's at the beginning of the year or if you do the weekly or even monthly resets. Is looking at all of the outward things and just going through and checking off a list. What I wanted to do is take some more time and intention to really make sure that I'm aligning my activities and the things that I'm doing for this reset to really be aligned with those values, with the things that are driving me with making sure that I am feeling really aligned.
Welcome to Clear and On Purpose, the podcast design to help you cut through the noise and get back to what matters most. If you're feeling stuck, but needs to take intentional action, you are in the right place. I'm Christina Slayback, homeschooling mom of two and life and business coach, helping you drop in and align with your values and create more space.
Each week I'll be sharing practical insights and simple. Actionable steps to help you find clarity, boost your [00:01:00] energy, and design a life that balances ambition with mates. Let's dive in and get clear on purpose.
Welcome back to Clear and on Purpose. It's officially summer. We've crossed the solstice. I just celebrated my birthday and there's something about this time of year that lights me up. The sun, the water, the longer days. I feel so alive and inspired right now.
In today's episode, I'm gonna be talking about a midyear reset. [00:02:00] So we've six months into the year and it's a great time to go back and take that energy that we have and to be able to go back and review our goals, to kind of look at where we're spending our time, our rhythms and our routines, and see if there's opportunities for us to be able to.
Recommit or reconnect with those goals that we had originally done. If we want to make any changes or to set new intentions for this upcoming season and for these next six months, I am always someone who loves any excuse for reset. Having the opportunity for that clean slate energy and I am all in.
The start of summer and the fact that we are in my birthday month, I just really have been looking at and taking some time to really. Choose how I'm spending my time and how I wanna feel, and really reconnecting with those [00:03:00] energies. And so this past month I was really leaning into joy and if you caught the episode with Kay Margaret, we talked about this and our behind the scenes, I made it my mission to schedule and say yes to things that brought joy or sparked curiosity.
So I brought, bought roller blades and went out for the first time since college when I wasn't very good to begin with. I've been spending so much time in the water, going to the pool, the beach kayaking, paddle boarding. I've been incorporating more fitness classes and more activity.
I even tried a hip hop dance class. I've been eating my favorite summer foods, going to outdoor concerts, and they weren't all just random activities. They're all reminders to me of what makes me feel alive and connected to the moment, and I've noticed that since I've been incorporating more of these.
Activities and spending my time more intentionally looking for ways to bring more joy, to [00:04:00] bring more fun, to bring some of that adventure and vibrancy back into my world, that my energy has actually improved and that I've just had a lot more optimism and movement and momentum that's being created, and I'm able to focus better on the things that I'm wanting to do instead of taking from.
Me and taking this extra time that I'm doing all of these things, it's actually been giving me more energy and making time expand. And as part of this, I really have been looking at, okay, what are the ways that I have been being able to bring in this energy, bring in this momentum, and how can I continue to capitalize that as I'm looking forward and like moving into this next six months of the year,
when I'm looking at doing a mid-year reset, I also wanted to take the opportunity to not just incorporate all the fun, which has been great, but to look at [00:05:00] my regular weekly rhythms, my routines, my wellness and my work habits and what's working and what felt stale, and how I can bring more of that joy and attention into those everyday habits.
So a lot of times in the past when I've been looking at, like doing a mid-year reset, I do a lot of focus on. Home resetting the physical, resetting, like decluttering my space, getting those things ready and being able to kind of create the space for that new energy to come in. Looking at and creating, plans for the next three or six months in terms of the opportunities that I wanna look into for work.
Collaborations, partnerships, programs, things that I wanna do that way. And looking at the kids' schedule and looking at. A digital declutter and all of those type of things, which I still am incorporating. And I think because I've done that in the past, it hasn't seemed quite as urgent for those types [00:06:00] of things.
And what I wanted to do is instead of just going through a list and just checking it off of house declutter, budget review, looking at all of these individual things that I could be doing and just kind of checking off the list to get that reset and that refresh. I wanted to take some time and really build on that energy that I've been bringing and look at it in terms of starting with mindset and really starting with that alignment piece.
I think a lot of times we can get to whether it's at the beginning of the year or if you do the weekly or even monthly resets. Is looking at all of the outward things and just going through and checking off a list. What I wanted to do is take some more time and intention to really make sure that I'm aligning my activities and the things that I'm doing for this reset to really be aligned with those values, with the things that are driving me with making sure that I am feeling really aligned.[00:07:00]
So I wanted to take time and look at some of those routines and things that I've been doing and, and look at them from a different mindset of rather than just, continue doing or add in, I wanna look at how it makes me feel and what I can do to bring more of that energy in. So if you're looking at doing your own mid-year reset, if you wanna look at and go through and reconnect with some of those goals.
I think it's a really great opportunity to do that, but I would also encourage you to do it from this standpoint of looking at that, aligning with the bigger aspects, the things that you, the feelings that you want to have, and to be able to get aligned with those values that you, that you are desiring and look at your goals and look at.
Your activities and your rhythms and your routines and your habits, and look at them from that framework and see what fits from there. So moving from like this top down, [00:08:00] rather than building in all these things that we think that we should be doing or that we think we could be doing. I know that when I did my spring.
Vision board and activities. I actually didn't hit all of the things that I wanted to do other that I had put on the list for that, and when I went back and reviewed it, it's because not all of those activities aligned necessarily with things that I desired. I kind of put them on there because they seem to be good activities to do in the springtime.
So I really wanted to take that intention and really dive into what feels good for me and be able to look at that. So starting with the routines and looking at what's working, what is not. I have been strength training consistently, but I wanted to incorporate more other activity. I feel like I want to bring in more energy and as much as I have been really enjoying the strength training, I've been seeing a lot of strength improvements.
I've been seeing a lot of muscle gains. I wanted to incorporate [00:09:00] more of the activities that I also enjoy, so the core work, Pilates, walking, running. And look at how I can bring in biking, all these things that I enjoy doing that because I was checking off in my daily time, like workout as, as you know, the strength training or whatever the program was that I was doing for that day.
That then I wasn't necessarily opening myself to these other things that I really do enjoy and that do bring me a lot of energy and, and that I can get enthusiastic about and kind of revive that energy. One of the other things that I've also been wanting to do is incorporate more of these sunrise and sunset.
It comes at this time of year. I love being able to take advantage of this extended daylight hours that we have. But it's also hard sometimes, especially for Sunrise, because it does come so early and because the nights are longer and it doesn't really get dark here until much later. And so it [00:10:00] just lends to staying up later I noticed that I was.
Sleeping in more, and I wasn't taking advantage of that, but I really do enjoy getting in and checking out the sunrises or being able to get in the sunsets. It's hot during the middle of the day. So being able to get my workouts in earlier and really just kind of testing that out for this season has been great.
So I've been getting up for sunrise walks and. Getting in movement first thing in the morning. And what I discovered is that as I started to do this, whether it was with my fitness class or just getting in like a warmup walk, is that I really liked being able to get out there and be able to get some of my steps in right away.
And I've recently been trying to get in my 10,000 steps before 10:00 AM and this is a very arbitrary number and it could be totally different for you. But I know that for me, when I am feeling good and when I'm moving my body, I just feel better. And being able to hit that [00:11:00] 10,000 mark earlier in the day just allowed me more opportunities that I.
Just led to just more active lifestyle in general. So even if we had things that were coming up, or even if I was spending most of the day later on at the computer, I knew that I was just coming in with this energy of being able to have that benchmark done. And then all of the other opportunities for movement were just add-ons and I.
I wasn't thinking out of it in terms of like getting my steps in, then it was just for the simple joy of it. So if I went out for a sunset, walk later, if I decided to go, and go walk around during a, a practice or something like that. All of these opportunities were just add-on simply because I desired it and because I wanted it, and not because it was this thing that I was trying to hit of this 10,000 steps for the day.
And again, it's just created more energy and momentum for it.
And I love being outside, so it was really hitting all the boxes. So getting [00:12:00] that sunlight first thing in the morning, being able to to catch the sunrise, or shortly after having a cooler part of the day and being able to get that movement in right away in the morning, all is just kind of building on each other, and it was all part of this bigger intention that I have four more energy, four more of that goodness and that juiciness that I was goodly looking for.
It's extended into other things. I know that when the kids are younger, we used to just kind of move more often. I'd take 'em to the parks or we'd go for hikes or I'd go biking or I'd bring 'em down to the track and we'd do runs or I'd bring 'em to Zumba class and they'd hang out some of that, I had kind of lost as they've gotten older, and as they're involved in more things and so I wanted to revert to some of those things that I had previously done.
So. We bike. I take my youngest to swim in the morning, but we bike there. and that's just more opportunities to get that outdoors time to get that movement that I'm looking for, to get that [00:13:00] opportunity to feel like I'm taking advantage of this time of year because I'm not able to do that in the winter.
And all of these tiny little pivots, they start compounding. And so I began intuitively adjusting how I was eating. So focusing on protein, fruits, veggies, whole foods, really leaning into portion control and just make being coming more aware of what I was consuming. I'm not tracking macros or calories, but I am listening more closely to my body and just taking that as another opportunity to continue.
To build on each of these things. I didn't go into it saying that I was gonna revamp all of my health and wellness, but I've just been making little pivots along the way and leaning into these things that feel really good and moving towards more of that. And one of the things that I like to do for each season is to make a vision board.
And we've been doing this for over a year now, and so. Coming up with and [00:14:00] deciding for the summer, like what does that feel like? What's the vibe that I'm going for? And when I'm looking at that bucket list, what are the things that actually light me up? Not the things that I think should be on there. And honestly, we're only a little ways into it, and we've already marked so many things off because again, it's things that really resonate with me and they feel intentional and not just like another thing to do.
So when you're looking at like, what do I wanna do, being able to take advantage of this time of year and look at what is the mindset? What are the mindsets that I'm bringing into this? Where am I expanding? What do I want more of? How can I align and spend my time with how I want to feel? Yes, I am still tackling the home, the finances, and the planning part of that.
But this time I'm letting that reset build so it's not just a couple of days, it's not just a week. It's evolving [00:15:00] and changing as we go, and I'm basing it on what's working and what feels energizing. And because of that shift, I've actually been more productive. I am finishing lingering task, I'm feeling more creative, and I'm staying really rooted in a space of joy and purpose.
And that energy and clarity led me to create something that I am really excited about. So I am offering the summer alignment tuneup, and it's a light touch, high impact coaching offer for July and August, for the woman who's not quite ready for a full coaching container, but they do wanna stop spinning and they do wanna start aligning. So in it you'll get a 90 minute strategy session, a personalized 90 day plan that will co-create with you, and then voice and text support.
and then two follow up calls to help you stay on track. So if your business and energy feels off, if you are wanting to reconnect with your vision and you wanna take aligned [00:16:00] action and you wanna take this opportunity to do that.
I really wanted to create something that would feel really good for me and being able to offer that and still being able to have a lot of flexibility and also to feel really good for the person that's looking at and saying, my summer is full. I have all these things going on, but also I just wanna feel more focused.
I wanna feel more energized, I wanna feel more alive, and I do wanna take the opportunity to be able to get. Aligned and intentional during this time of year. So I can go and I can get into the fall and I can get into all of the scheduling and all the things that are gonna come feeling re-energized.
So if you are looking to get more details or to grab a spot, just message me either on Instagram or email me the word summer and I'll get you all the details to grab your spot. I'm only gonna offer a few of these.
and if you've been feeling a little scattered, stuck or out of sync and you just want to check [00:17:00] in, I have an upcoming village event, that's going to be a virtual event. we're gonna talk about our mid-year refresh and reclaiming your rhythm for more joy, clarity, and flow. And it's gonna be reflective and actionable and a supportive space to help you pause, realign, and reconnect with the version of summer and business you actually wanna be living.
We'll do this in a really intimate space where we can. Share and connect with others and be able to walk through a simple framework of looking at where you may have drifted from your original vision for the year, looking at what's no longer working and creating just a simple plan that brings more energy, ease, and intention.
Because summer doesn't have to be about squeezing it all in, and it can be about feeling more like yourself. Again, you are allowed to slow down. You're allowed to tune in, and you're allowed to realign [00:18:00] and maybe. This is the exact rhythm reset your summer needs. So thanks for spending time with me today.
I'd love to hear how your own resets going. Shoot me a message or share your summer vision and let me know. Until next time. Stay clear and on purpose.
