5: Manuals
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We wouldn't consciously choose to make someone else 100% responsible for our emotional state. But when we are acting through emotional childhood, we are doing exactly that. We are making our happiness 100% conditional upon how someone else chews their food, drives, or cleans.
We know we are acting through emotional childhood when we discover we have an invisible manual for how others how they should think, act, and behave in order for us to feel good.
Clinging to these manuals/expectations robs us of emotional accountability and creates resentment and power struggles.
Releasing these manuals/expectations helps us to open up mental and emotional space that we can then invest into the things we DO want to create vs resisting the things we DON'T want in life.
