Mike: [00:00:00] Yeah. So let's, let's talk about the name change. We decided to change the podcast name from body over mind to mind, body mastery. And I remember it took us a, it took us a little while to sit there and try to figure out what the, what the new name was, but what were your, thoughts on why we should change the name?
Stephen: I think it needed a shift. And the reason why is because whenever I've thought about sharing body over minds, There was a bit of a slight tension inside. And the reason why was because when I say body of a mind, there is essentially in some ways a hierarchy, right? And we initially did it. It was more like a fun way of playing on words of, you know, usually it's mind of matter and stuff like that.
So we'll call it body of a mind, but then. When I thought about it deeper, we do [00:01:00] care about the body, but we also care about the mind and we see the interconnection between the two. And so it's, I think it's, it can be a bit misleading if we don't go deep enough into it. And so when we share it to a new audience or when we're playing on bringing on guests and we share it with guests, There might be an initial reaction or an initial misunderstanding of what the podcast is about.
Mike: I feel like the same thing when I think body over mind, I have an understanding of what that means. But I don't know if other people have the same understanding. And I think that was the thing when we came up with the name. It's like, it makes sense. Yeah. It makes sense to us. Yeah. Yeah. Sounds good.
Let's do it. And then we, maybe we can send out that message to anybody who is seeing the podcast. But then I, I think we started to realize the message is not just easily understood. [00:02:00] Somebody will need to understand that while the body and mind are directly connected, we can access the mind through the body.
If you want to silence the mind, you have to go and calm down the body. If you want to go and change the thoughts in the mind, you need to go and change the energy in the body. What do you mean by that? Change the frequency of that. It's like, there's this explanation, this understanding, and so finally someone goes.
Oh, okay. I get it now. I see why it's body over mind because you can, all of these things are connected directly into the body, but it's like, how many people would get that right away? Yeah. Right away or, or spend the time to get the understanding. And then they would get that if they didn't, they would get the title.
If they don't get the name of the podcast and they'll just hear it, but just like you said, there's another thing, which is the body is better than the mind somehow or the body is somehow controlling the mind. How [00:03:00] is that? There are two different things.
Stephen: Yeah. So I think this name shifts to mind, body mastery. It just makes it much more clear, where it still feels normal and natural to us. But it's also very easy to understand for other people as well.
Mike: Yeah. And , it's really straightforward. Because I remember we were talking about some other names.
And yeah, I think we asked in chat, GPT, give me these names, give me these names, give me these names. But I think it's, yeah, it's very straightforward. It almost sounds very general mind, body mastery, but it's very, it's very clear. What are we going to do? We're going to talk about topics and things that are going to help a person master their body and mind, their mind and body.
So therefore all of the things that we talked about before is still completely relevant. It's always been about that. Anyways. . And the approach of the things are all still the same, but the [00:04:00] title it may make more sense automatically when someone reads it.
Stephen: Yeah, then it's funny because I remember pondering about this and I just remember we talked about bringing on guests for, for a little while.
And I remember thinking that sudden, like how I'm going to structure the message and send it out to them. Now I can always remember feeling that there would , be that a bit of a tension point where they may question why they're coming on this specific podcast, right?
Body over mind, right? Because we're thinking about bringing on different types of guests. They might be a nutritionist, they might be some type of psychologist. And so,, if we brought on a psychologist, they would see the title body over mind, and they would be like, well, what is this and why am I coming on here for, you know?
And so I think this, this again, it just makes it much more clear for both the audience and guests to, [00:05:00] understand much more what this is about, what we're going to be sharing. And then I think it'll help to, also just open up more channels of just topics. Yeah. It'll essentially almost be the same.
Mike: I really would be like the same topics.
Stephen: Yeah. Yeah. But just in, in some ways, more angles from different people.
Mike: Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. I agree.
Stephen: Yeah. Feels good. Yeah. That's good. I remember asking Anya, Hey, what does body over mind mean to you? Yeah. Uh, it means that the body is better than the mind. I was like, okay, we're going to change it.
Mike: That's what she said.
Stephen: Yeah. Yeah.
Well, that's just, that's, that's what, uh, I mean, if you take a look
at it, face value, that's
Mike: what it says. So no, my body's not better. [00:06:00]
Stephen: That's good. So, I mean, I think for, for the long time listeners, I think it won't matter too much. I think they're more so diving in just. Cause they know us already and they know kind of what we'll be sharing about, but for the people coming new, yeah, it'll, it'll allow them an easier entry way into the conversations.
Mike: Yeah, they won't be questioning it right off the bat.
Stephen: Yeah,
Mike: yeah, yeah. Straight forward body, mind, mastery.
Stephen: Yeah.
Mike: Hold on, mind, body, mastery. See, I'm still getting, still trying to get it right. Mind, body, mastery. It's going to take me a little while there. We get that in. Yeah. Why don't we call it body mind? No, make it, make it simple.
Make it even more simple.
Stephen: Mind's Body Mastery. Mind's Body Mastery. Has two Ms in there, which is nice as well. Mind's Body Mastery.
Mike: MBM.
Stephen: [00:07:00] MBM.
Mike: Yeah. It's always good to, keep it simple. That's what I find.
Stephen: Yeah. Just like your principals, BREATHE.
Mike: I don't remember even what the principles were before, before we made it the acronym BREATHE.
Stephen: Yeah, of course. That's why I had to ask you last time. Well, I don't,
Mike: I remembered it back then, but it wasn't, yeah, it wasn't easy to remember. To share a story with everyone. I remember We met each other like, I don't know, five years, something like that, and I was sharing the principles with you, and I think we were working on, creating all the structure for the, I think like the training program, , And I already had the, components down, but it's like making it presentable.
Stephen: Yeah.
Mike: And I remember you, you, you telling me like, we need to, we should make it easy to remember. I [00:08:00] was like, yeah, it is easy to remember. You go, okay, we'll name all the principles. I was like, yeah, well, there is this one. There's this one. There's this one. And this one, and this one, and you're like, see, you remember, how are
Stephen: you?
How are other people remember when you don't remember
Mike: it? Okay, fine. You're right.
Stephen: But what's good is that with the brief principles, you didn't really change any of the principles. Essentially we've just found the correct acronym. And, the words to kind of fit in the principles into there, so it's easy to remember.
Yeah. Yeah. So now, especially all the students, they can just remember that and then LB, what's B? What's R? What's E?
Mike: And then. Well, for people that don't know, B is breathe with rhythm and movement. That means if your rhythm, if your movement right now is like this, sitting down, you shouldn't be too fast, [00:09:00] right?
Or irregular in your speed with rhythm. R is repetition grace mastery. And that's very straight forward. Repeating something if you want to go ahead and get better at it. Doesn't matter what it is, same thing for other people. And, E is effort max 70. Stop going to the extreme, right? Stay consistent. And A is always calm and relax.
Tense only what's needed. Just like sitting here. Just tense what's needed. Don't tense up everything. Just draining energy. And calm and relax allows us to connect more with the body. More in the present moment. And T, total focus, all right, just staying, being able to stay focused, particularly the eyes. One point focus.
So no blinking. H, have no judgment, compete and compare. So this way we're able to go and let go of all those things and stay present. Don't create so much drama. And, E is [00:10:00] expand your limitations. And basically that goes. And balances out all the others, especially f or max 70, right? So this way we're always, striving to go after what we really want.
Which means we have to always expand our limitations. If not, , we can't get the things that we want because the things that we want usually are things that we haven't done. They're venturing out further, they're expressing ourselves further. So yeah I'm really glad we, came up with that, acronym because.
Yeah. Made it so much easier.
Stephen: Yeah. Yeah. And you can see how we fit it in as well, because T, total focus. Yeah. Well, the main principle was one, one point of focus, focus, but we're like, okay, how am i going to put this in there? Yeah. We're going to add total in there, which makes sense as well. A hundred percent.
Mike: And then E, effort max 70, 70 percent max, you [00:11:00] know, then how are we going to put a seven, you know, it'd have been like QRA seven, three,
Stephen: I don't know. Okay. All right. It's cool. All right, guys. So that will be the new name of the podcast. Mind, body, master.
Mike: You still have to say it slowly. We're going to say it slowly until we get it right.
Stephen: You know, I was emphasizing the emphasis. That's true.
Mike: I apologize now if I start off the bag, okay. Welcome to the body over my podcast. I mean, body, my mastery. I mean, yeah. Names are just names that they're just, they're just names. We need to have them anyway.
Stephen: So that would actually be a, that can be actually another podcast.
Names are just names. What does that even mean? I mean,
Mike: I'll talk about the next one.
Stephen: Mind body mastery. We'll see you on the next
[00:12:00] one.
