The Aging Mask is a Podcast dedicated to exploring the transformative power of Lifestyle Medicine. Here is where I will share with you what I have learned, and continue to learn as an "Ayurvedic Health Counselor".
Life Style Medicine is a complete healing system focused on giving you the tools and practices to create greater health and happiness on a daily basis by using your innate healing ability. We will also discuss, and do a deep dive into the
six (6) most important pillars of health; which are; sleep, movement/physical activity, healthy emotions, meditation, nutrition and self-care.
There is no" one size fits all" prescription for your well- being, it is experiential, which means the choices you make about your experiences shape your body and mind, including your choices about food, personal relationships, sensory experiences, sleep, work social interactions and daily routine. As you shift your experiences, your biology will shift because your biology is the metabolism of experience.

Healing Through the 5 Senses: The Sense of Touch (part 6/6)
"Touch" is our first sense to develop in the womb and the last to leave us when we die. It’s our most primal connection to life.
The skin is the largest organ of the body , covered in millions of sensory receptors that are constantly collecting information- warmth, cold, texture, pressure, pain and pleasure.
But touch is not just about data, it’s about connection. Touch is a basic human need, it is fundamental to health and wellbeing.
We are very touched deprived today, in this digital fast paced age many people suffer from skin hunger- a deep longing for a safe, loving touch.
Especially post pandemic many people are so isolated still. This deprivation can show up as irritability, depression, fatigue or chronic anxiety.
Touch isn’t a luxury- it is a biological need.
So if you have been feeling off lately, irritable, or just depressed or sad, maybe all you need is a safe loving touch, that hug, or long overdue intimacy.
If its been along time-its not your fault. But it is something worth reclaiming- slowly, safely and with intention
Touch has the power to remind us that we are alive, worthy, and connected. It slows down our monkey minds and anchors us in the present. Let touch bring you back to your happy place.
For touch to work as medicine, and to do its healing, our skin has to be open and receptive to it. So if touch is the medicine, the "skin" is the gateway.
Skin is our bodies largest organ and is brilliantly designed. It wraps around our muscles and bones and keeps us together, it protects, it senses and it communicates. But more than anything- skin is how we feel the world, and how the world feels us.
Skin is the Gateway to touch- It helps regulate our temperature, alerts us to danger, and sends messages to the brain faster than we can think!
When our skin is nourished, hydrated and cared for- it becomes receptive. It listens. It feels. It invites healing in.
This is a wrap on “Healing thru the 5 Senses and their Gateways. I want to encourage you, if you haven’t already- to go back and listen to all 6 episodes. The titles may not sound exciting or groundbreaking at first, but please don’t let that fool you. Your senses are powerful gateways, and tuning into them and taking care of them with intention is the best, most accessible and completely free medicine you will ever find.
Real healing starts in the simplest places- Your eyes, ears, nose, tongue and your skin. Give yourself the gift of listening to all 5 of your senses, you will be surprised by what begins to shift and change within you.
