The  Root Chakra is known as your energy center of safety, security, stability and survival.

You may have heard the word “Chakra” before, it comes from the ancient Sanskrit, it means “spinning wheel of light”- “WHEEL” .The chakra system is composed of 7 main energy wheels (chakras) that regulate our energetic bodies- which refers to the part of you that ISNT physical but still affects how you feel, think and move through life. Its essentially your energy system that run through and around your body. Think of them as spinning wheels in your body that help keep your physical body, emotional mind and mental feelings balanced, and running smoothly.

Each one of these chakras sits in a different spot along your spine, near your tail bone, basically- just above your butt- moving all the way up to the top of your head. And each chakra has a different job- it looks after certain parts of your body, your emotions, and even the way you connect with the world.

When these energy centers are spinning smoothly, we feel balanced, steady and we feel good. But when even one gets a little off track- maybe its spinning to fast, too slow, or feels blocked- we notice it. It can show up as stress, sickness, emotional ups and downs, or just feeling “off”

Picture chakras as the floors of a building, the root chakra is the ground floor, the foundation. Without a strong foundation, the rooms above it feel shaky. It will not sustain, severe weather or earthquakes- it’s the same for us- if our root chakra isn’t stable and steady, it’s hard to feel safe, strong and balanced in other areas of life.

The  Root Chakra is known as your energy center of safety, security, stability and survival. It looks after your most basic needs; food , shelter, money, health and a sense of belonging. These aspects of life are our “roots”; they help us stay grounded and to not only survive but thrive.

It’s also tied to your physical body- especially your legs, feet, bones, large intestine and your immune system.

When your root chakra is healthy, balanced, strong, and  functioning at its best you feel grounded- you feel steady , calm, and secure- like your feet are firmly on the ground even when life gets stressful.  You feel safe-  you will feel less fearful, less anxious and have more trust in yourself and life.  You will feel more present you are not lost in overthinking or worrying about your future, you are comfortable being here, and now in your body. like being firmly planted, safe,  and at home in your skin & body and you have a strong immunity. you will walk thru the world with a quiet confidence. Your body feels strong, you have good energy ,and you trust that all your needs will be met.

Now, the flip side. When the wheel of the root chakra gets alittle off track, imbalanced, or blocked in some way we are impacted both emotionally and physically, which in turn influences aspects of our lives. It is important to note that an unbalanced chakra  can be either underactive or blocked or overactive.

The root chakra is where it all begins. It’s your foundation that holds up your energy system.  If this wheel is off track, everything above it feels wobbly- physically, emotionally, and even spiritually.- When it is balanced, it gives you the strength and stability to grow in all the other areas of your life, just like a tree with strong roots can grow tall and withstand all weather.

Strong roots build strong lives. And by nurturing  your root chakra, you are building  yourself a foundation to grow into the fullest, healthiest version of you.

Enjoy!
