The Aging Mask is a Podcast dedicated to exploring the transformative power of Lifestyle Medicine. Here is where I will share with you what I have learned, and continue to learn as an "Ayurvedic Health Counselor".
Life Style Medicine is a complete healing system focused on giving you the tools and practices to create greater health and happiness on a daily basis by using your innate healing ability. We will also discuss, and do a deep dive into the
six (6) most important pillars of health; which are; sleep, movement/physical activity, healthy emotions, meditation, nutrition and self-care.
There is no" one size fits all" prescription for your well- being, it is experiential, which means the choices you make about your experiences shape your body and mind, including your choices about food, personal relationships, sensory experiences, sleep, work social interactions and daily routine. As you shift your experiences, your biology will shift because your biology is the metabolism of experience.

The Chakra Series: The "Heart" Chakra- Love, Compassion & Connection
In this episode , I will share with you what the heart chakra is, where it is located-and how it influences both your mental and physical health. As I did with the others I will share with you what balance looks like, what happens when this chakra is out of balance, and most importantly what you can do to bring it back into harmony. I will also share some physical symptoms you might notice when your heart chakra is struggling, and which essential oils can help support it.
The heart chakra is the 4thchakra in the energy system, sitting right in the middle of your chest- in line with the heart itself. It is considered the “bridge” between the lower chakras (which deal with more of our physical, and material world), and the upper chakras, which lean more toward the mental , emotional and spiritual realms.
Think of it like a gateway. The heart chakra connects the grounded, everyday part of you with the expansive, spiritual, intuitive part of you. When it is flowing, you will feel deeply connected to life, to other people, and your own sense of purpose.
This energy system is all about love- not just romantic love, but unconditional love, compassion, empathy, and forgiveness. It governs how we relate to ourselves and others, whether that is thru family, friendships, partnerships.
It is connected to the heart, lungs, chest, arms, and hands. That is why many physical imbalances associated with the chakra show up in those areas.
What does the heart chakra do? The heart chakra acts as your emotional and energetic center for love, compassion, and relationships. It helps you:
Give and receive love- again, not just romantic, but love in all forms. SELF Love, love for others, love for nature, love for life.
· Practice Forgiveness- A balanced heart chakra helps you let go of grudges and resentment.
· Shows empathy and compassion- it allows you to feel with others, to understand their pain, and to care deeply
The heart chakra also helps you…
· Create Healthy Boundaries- contrary to what people sometimes think, the heart chakra isn’t just about being open- its also about balancing love with wisdom and self protection.
· Heal emotional wounds: This energy center is closely tied to emotional healing. Its where we process grief, heartbreak, and loss.
On a physical level, the heart chakra influences circulation, the immune system, and even the rhythm of breath. By Rhythm of breath- it means that this energy center is closely linked to how smooth and steady, or shallow your breathing is. Being the heart chakra is located in your chest, right where your heart and lungs sit. It energetically governs both of these organs.
‘Green” is the color associated with the heart chakra.
Green is the color of growth and renewal. Just like plants and trees, the heart chakra thrives on expansion, healing and fresh starts.
Green symbolizes balance and harmony- Green sits in the middle of the color spectrum, just as the heart chakra sits in the middle of the chakra system.
Green is also connected to love& compassion, and it calms and restores.
Thats why being in nature & eating green foods can help restore balance to the heart chakra.
Also, Air is its element- Air is invisible BUT essential- just like love and compassion. We can’t see it, but we can feel it and can’t live without it.
So whether it’s thru breathwork, gratitude, essential oils or simply spending time in nature, small daily practices can keep your heart chakra flowing and balanced.
