It's been a long time coming getting back to recording episodes & here I am!

In this episode I'm diving into an enlightening moment I had when Haedyn was around 2.5 throwing a tantrum where I discovered what it actually looked like to respond in a *healthy* way and how to do it. On this day my response had surprised me because of asking her to stop and get a grip on herself or yelling back at her, or telling her to go to her room I placed a hand over my heart because I could feel my heart start to race. I had NO idea managing her big emotions could be this easy. The key? Was learning to embody Self regulation.

But sometimes, moments still get you. And I decided to talk about it in this episode too of the flip side where you found yourself screaming at your child and feeling like a bag of sh*t about it afterwards but what it looked like to move through it in a way where you grow instead of getting stuck in the guilt and shame of it all.

There was a summarized quote I shared in this episode from one of my favorite Self healing/cycle breaking books (The Body Keeps The Score: By Bessel Van Der Kolk, M.D.) I've decided to re-read "one of the hardest thing for traumatized people is to confront their shame about the way they behaved during a traumatic episode, whether it is objectively warranted or not. They are haunted by the shame they feel about what they themselves did. They despise themselves for how enraged they felt."

...As a Mother, I never felt that so deeply.

Something I will mention is, it's a book best suggested to be slowly digested!
