Here, grief is allowed to be honest. Faith is allowed to wrestle with hard questions. And hope doesn’t mean forgetting.
The host Greg Buffkin—who, with his wife Cathy, experienced the devastating loss of their son Ryan to suicide—invites bereaved parents, siblings, counselors, ministry leaders, and others to share the real stories behind their grief.
Together, we talk about the questions many people are afraid to ask: Where is God when life shatters? Can faith survive trauma? Is it okay to experience joy again? How does grief affect marriage, family, identity and purpose? And what does it mean to build a life you never imagined living?
There are no easy answers here. Just honest conversations, compassionate voices, biblical truth, and the reminder that you are not alone.

Started listening through the podcast.. but as always, so very helpful! So true, the first year I couldn’t even think.. the second I’m beginning to see life outside of my grief. Trying to see Gods plan each day. Praying for Him to reveal His plan for me, but also trying to find joy. I’ve been missing joy.. pray for Him to feel me with the joy of the Spirit every morning. Love to sing that song at church. Thankyou again.

Greg, as a survivor of childhood abuse from a step grandfather.. I would love to share my perspective either way you one day.. it was very bothersome to me when your guest said 'forgive Ryan for not telling you' Children don't tell. Even as adults we feel shame. I almost died from my shame. It is a subconscious that takes over. I would love to share more. But that's very triggering to hear her say 'forgive him' for not telling you. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 by the grace of God I'm alive, I almost died before I could admit my abuse to my parents or even myself.
