Speaker 1:

Hello, hello and welcome back everybody to Compounding Daily. I'm your host, miguel Sanchez, and welcome back to another episode, episode 104. First and foremost, thank you for being here with me A short solo episode. Today I find myself here, I know exactly what I want to talk about, but before I get into the topic, I want to cover the rituals of the podcast, the reminder that there's a reason why I release episodes every Monday at 5 in the morning, and it's always in the hopes to catch you, to catch you before you begin your new week and your new day, to make sure that, as you approach your new day, you're not just going through the routine for the sake of existing, but instead you're waking up and being mindful to express gratitude for what you have as you go and challenge yourself to build and create the things that you want.

Speaker 1:

And it's difficult. In my own opinion I speak from my own experience it took me a very long time to reach that point in my life where I could wake up, be in a grumpy mood and within a few let's say, hours, or sometimes within an hour, I'm mentally where I need to be to show up with a good attitude, have great conversations and, most importantly, not allow the negativity of others to influence how I feel and how I react to my life. So, with that being said, happy Monday and thank you for being here for another episode. And, with that being said, let's get into the topic today. The topic today is something that I'm experiencing. If you've been listening to me for a while, then you know that the things that I speak about, I'm either reading from a book, which I always give a shout out to, I learn from a podcast, or I'm literally going through at the very moment, and that's where I find myself today. As I sat here, I was going to look through my notes and see what inspires me today.

Speaker 1:

And what inspires me today is my current physical situation, and let me just tell you where I am and why it's so important to me to for me to share this with you, because I'm currently let's just round it up 11 weeks out from my first bodybuilding show, and if you know me as an individual, then you know that the reason I challenge myself in anything is because I like to push my boundaries. I like to see physically, mentally, spiritually, as an individual, where do I stand. To put it into harsh words, I want to know how weak I am and to see if the progress I've done over the years has led me to become a stronger individual. So the current situation of my life is very simple and this has been the theme of this current week as I experience the first dig phase of the prep. Do it anyways, do it anyways, do it anyways has been repeated in my mind hundreds of times now within the last seven days, and it's very simple as to a reason why Because as I get deeper into the prep, while I wake up and I go through my rituals and I go to work and I go to the gym and I come home and I got my fish, etc. Etc. Etc. I got my life to live.

Speaker 1:

The body is trying to keep up with everything that I'm doing and I find myself, especially lately, physically exhausted. And the beauty and the things that I speak about from episode one to now is that I always emphasize the importance of having a strong mind before a strong body, and they coincide. It's very difficult to get far into one without the other, but when you understand that you are in control of this vessel, of this thing called a body, you're gonna understand that there's gonna be situations in your life, and it may not necessarily be a bodybuilding show. Maybe you're just being tested over long days, long nights, a lot going on, some emergencies here and there, and you find yourself physically exhausted. In that physical exhaustion, I feel that is when the devil's voice is louder. I feel like that is when you are being tested most, because now, unconsciously, the voice in your head is telling you just take it off, take the rest day, don't eat the meal. You deserve a cheap meal. Don't read the books. You deserve to sit down and relax. You're tired, you're tired.

Speaker 1:

And, of course, it's easy to give in to that sort of temptation. It's easy to tell yourself, like you know I am tired, you know I am doing a lot. But what if before the relaxation came a personal little challenge, a? I have something to do that at the end of accomplishing it will lead me to a better person. And I'm exhausted, physically exhausted. I'm going to do it anyways. Now are you going to get the benefits of let's put it this way Are you going to get the benefits of a good workout if you are well rested, have food in your system and you know, not so much stress? Absolutely, right, you know not so much stress, absolutely right.

Speaker 1:

So you may feel like you're losing value in the workout if you show up and you're heavy headed and your shoulders are down and you're in your head a lot and you're physically exhausted and you're tired and you may say, well, what's the point of showing up today? Well, the point is that that is not going to be a physical workout, that's going to be a mental workout. You're not there to hit a PR. You're not there to a personal record if you don't go to the gym. That's what PR means. You're not there to, you know, break your records. You're not there to have one of the best workouts of your life, even though it may become one. But what you are there for is to prove to yourself that, despite all that you have going on in your life, you still show up, you still do the work, you still practice accountability, you still have your eyes set on the goal, and for me, personally speaking at the moment, is a bodybuilding show.

Speaker 1:

So I have a question for you as a listener what is it that you're aiming for and what happens when life inevitably gets in the way and or puts a test in front of you? Because, for your average, for the mediocre, for the 99% that I speak about often, that's a perfect reason to give up, that's a perfect reason to lose momentum. That's a perfect reason to say I tried and maybe now it's just not a good time, so I'll push it to the back burner and forget about it and we'll bring up the subject some other time. It's easy to tell yourself those things. It's more difficult to have a conversation with the self that says hey, body, I know you're tired, I know you're exhausted, but we have something to do, I promise. I promise, as soon as we're done here, you're going to get the rest you need. But first, I promise, as soon as we're done here, you're going to get the rest you need. But first I need you to push yourself a little bit more. And that's a conversation you have with yourself. Why? Because you can. Why Because it's your body and you're in control of it, and that mental workout is going to be a rep towards the mind becoming calloused, your mind becoming stronger, your mind writing in its memory. A conversation that sounds a little like you know, today I became a little bit better because, even though the body was showing signs of exhaustion, I forced it to show up regardless of the fact.

Speaker 1:

So I've proved to myself that I am in control of myself, and to some people that may seem like, oh well, if you're tired, you do need rest and whatever. Okay, sure, right. But what if you carry the mentality of an individual that says to himself the most rest that I need is when I'm dead? And that's a personal belief of my own, and I know that's a little graphic, but if you understand what I mean is listen I personally have gained myself to need six hours of sleep. Do I suffer for that? Yes, because by Friday, saturday, I'm exhausted, but guess what? I catch up on some sleep on the weekend.

Speaker 1:

Monday comes and I repeat the cycle. Why am I so quote unquote inspired or motivated? It's simple, because I know that one day this will all come to an end and I have a lot of things that I want to experience and create and I don't want that end to reach me prematurely. Before I accomplish these things, and since I don't know when that end is going to come, I get choices every single day to decide as to whether I'm moving closer to the goals or I'm procrastinating it a little bit longer. And every time that you're physically exhausted and your mind says I don't wanna do this and your body says I don't wanna do this today. It's up to you to guide the conversation in your mind to a place where it says I'm going to do it anyways and you're going to get the rest you need later and you're going to be okay, you're not going to die. It's not the worst possible outcome and if you do, that's part of mother nature. Just be mindful about it.

Speaker 1:

I'm not saying, if you're sleep deprived, you just worked a 48 hour shift for whatever fucking reason to go to the gym, that wouldn't make sense to me, right? But most people allow the simplest thing. My mind just gave me an image of a hangnail, like, oh, I got a hangnail and it hurts, and if I press the grip around the bar I can't go to the gym. Or it hurts to drive because I can't drive with my other hand. You get what I'm saying. That's really exaggerated, but it's a dumb excuse and most people would use a dumb excuse to justify a lack of effort when in reality you're in control of the body and you're probably not as tired as you think you are. And if you are extremely tired, chances are it's probably from a lack of nutrition and or a productive lifestyle that leads to energy being given to you in the form of health. All choices we get to make, the own shoes that we get to create and walk in. That's what's been on my mind lately. I'm going to end the episode because that's literally what's been on my mind lately the idea of doing it anyways.

Speaker 1:

I hope that as you listen to this, you see that I hope that I never come off preachy, because that's not the intent. I always say I'm speaking from my experience and the things that I'm going through, because I can't speak for anybody else. I can only speak through what I'm experiencing myself. And what better value than to tell you literally what I'm going through? And what better value than to tell you literally what I'm going through and my perspectives, my ideas? They're not meant to be accepted as truth, they're meant to be entertained and juggle the run with, maybe, your ideas and see if we disagree or agree, see if maybe you can add a perspective that I mentioned here into your own values and ideas and see if it helps you at all. I'm open to conversation. I'm an open vessel here.

Speaker 1:

I'm always open to being questioned as to my beliefs and the way that I perceive life, and it's not because I consider myself great and or special, but simply because at one point I did walk the path of the depressed, the sad, the excuse maker, the pessimist, the naysayer, the victim mentality. I was that individual and I worked on myself enough to not linger there and I've created change for myself, and that change didn't come easily, but it also didn't come miraculously. It was just engaging in proper values and ideas and beliefs and belief within myself and then staying consistent long enough to experience the benefits of those ideas and our values. So that's always the goal. Thank you for being here with me. So that's always the goal. Thank you for being here with me.

Speaker 1:

I noticed, not, I noticed, obviously I noticed, but I've been a little bit more distant on social media in regards to posting reels and everything, and the reason being for that is personal to me. The messages every Monday is something that I won't skip, no matter what, because I find clarity in these conversations. Lately has been like I can sit here and talk to you even though you're not physically here, and I gain value because as I'm talking to you, I get to reflect about my life and the things that I'm experiencing, and the good and the bad, and some of the analogies that I use here are like on the spot, like some things that I've never said before to myself. So I'm very grateful for you being able to be here with me as I share these ideas with you, and I hope that the way that they're changing my life, they're also changing yours. And, with that being said, happy Monday, let's have a great week, let's win the day, and until next time,
