Welcome Back And Time Off
SPEAKER_00Hello and welcome back everybody to compounding daily. I'm your host, Miguel Sanchez, and welcome back to another episode, episode 160. First and foremost, thank you for your patience with me. I didn't release an episode last week. It's like I've been cursed the last few months, and I've just been sick back to back to back. And I'm finally on the men's of it. I'm feeling significantly better. And I'm very grateful to be back before I step away again for a little bit. Uh I'm gonna be going away for a few weeks. This is the first time in almost three years since I started the podcast that I'm gonna be away and not releasing episodes. It's gonna be about a month uh that I'm gonna be away. So uh with that being said, I think it it's almost it's almost perfect timing, right? Because 160 is a good number to take a little break in. I'm gonna go experience some joy, uh, learn some new things. I'm gonna be around a different culture, different environment, and from the things that I learn about myself is that in an environment like that is where I gain value, is where I uh get to change my perspectives, it's where I get to really place myself in the present moment. And uh with that being said, it doesn't mean that I take it for granted. Um, I always look forward to coming back, I always look forward to providing value, I always look forward to helping, even if it's just one person. And with that being said, um, let this be the message, even though I'm gonna be away for a few weeks. Understand something, right? Um, everything that I speak about that I've done, you can do. Uh, the the the change of conversation internally, the changes of perspective, a different beliefs, a change of conversation when you are by yourself with yourself. Uh, I I it comes from a place of experience, and I always look forward to being able to share with you my ideas, my perspectives, with the understanding that I'm not selling you anything, I'm just telling you, hey, this is what has worked for me, maybe it'll work for you. Try it out and let me know how that goes. And um ironically, I've now met multiple people in my life, some who I consider good friends, that have adapted not because of me, but throughout their own life, like-minded uh beliefs, and because of that, I now surround myself with people who encourage me to be better, who call me out when they see me going through difficult times, who call me out when they see me procrastinating. And you know, if I was to look at myself now from the eyes of the person who of who I was when I started the journey, I would consider myself lucky, you know, and I'm sitting here telling you that luck has little to do with it, and intention and purpose has more to do with it more than anything. You know, uh for the last few years I've been very intentional with my decisions, I've been very intentional with my life, and I give myself clarity. And the reason I bring that up is because since I know I'm gonna be going away for a week, typically for a few weeks, typically I emphasize on the importance of starting a uh a new week with a good attitude. Uh, but let this be the reminder that a good attitude, a good day, and good decisions are always a choice, they're always a choice that is presented for you and and uh a choice that you can benefit from now. Whether you make the choice, again, it's the freedom of choice. You get to either make yourself better or allow time to pass you by as you continue to hope and wish for better. Uh, and I encourage you to do uh the the first option, right? The the having a plan, the understanding that time is passing you by and you don't want to waste it. The understanding that uh one thing that is out of your control is how long you are on this earth, and since that is out of your control, maybe there is a little bit of urgency in the life that you create for yourself and the things that you want to experience. So don't take life for granted, don't put yourself in positions where uh you are slowly accumulating regrets, you know, because in in in that what you're doing is over time just gonna start building resentment towards yourself, towards life, and you don't want to be that disgruntled old person who lived a long life but who never really experienced what they truly wanted out of life, you know, and again that's always within the conversation of understanding that some things are out of your control. But if you're listening to this, chances are that you are you have things within your control that if you took a little bit more serious, your life would be probably significantly, if not even a little bit, better. So, with that being said, uh, this is the last message I'm gonna leave you guys before I go I go away for a while. And I I wanted it to mean something, I wanted it to be something that stood out to you. So uh something that really um what was the word that I'm looking for? Maybe pops in your head a few times while I'm gone. Um, and it it it directly correlates to to how I started my own personal development journey, how I went from a a fat, depressed, unenthusiastic atheist individual to the person speaking to you now who is a an optimist and and uh a social butterfly. I love talking to people, I love engaging in conversations. The more I know, the better I feel. Uh, the more curious I become uh the the the more life shows me that I truly know nothing. And because of that, I'm able to enjoy life and uh my spiritual relationship with God has grown significantly in the last few years. Uh thanks to friends, thanks thanks to experience and different conversations, and it it's it's all because I've made it clear that I am in the driver's seat of my own life, and I get to decide how I'm going to uh influence my own future with the decisions I make in the present. And with that being said, today's today's topic is very simple. Um I wrote it down, um, and and hopefully, like I said, it sticks with you. And it goes like this you can't have a standard education and expect an extraordinary life. Your life must be constant, never-ending improvement. And I know when you hear that, I bet that sounds daunting. It's like, oh, forever, constant, never-ending, what a drag, right? But here's the thing we do know that eventually it ends, right? Because at the end is death. It's it's waiting for everybody. We're there, right? So you know it's going to come to an end at one point. I feel like the reason I wrote this down is because first and foremost, let's acknowledge something. Standard education, right? Standard education, I can't even begin to imagine what standard education is like in today's world because I consider today's education to be a joke, you know. But depending on on environment and depending on how you are raised and the things that you are are taught to believe is true, you have a standard education. You have the the the the basic manual that says, hey, you're a human being, these are the the basic necessities, so you can somewhat succeed, maybe, in the real life, right? And then you go out into that real life as an adult and you start getting punched in the face over and over and over. And if you're anything like me, you know what I did was I blamed the world, I blamed the environment, I blamed my teachers, I blamed my family, I blamed everything and anything that I could for the lack of opportunities that were passing me over, right? But it wasn't until I realized, wait a minute, I made a a stupid promise to myself when I graduated high school, and I told myself that I'm never going to open a book again in my life. I said I went to high school because my mother wanted a high school degree, and I was like, fine, I'll just give you a high school degree, whatever. As soon as I graduated, I I tuck the diploma away, and I was like, I'm never reading again in my life. And the reason I call that a stupid decision is because I, because of that decision, allowed so many years to pass me by. Years where I could have continued to pursue things of interest, where I could have continued to learn, where I could have continued to grow, where I could have asked questions as to like, you know, what what makes a person a good person? What is considered a good human being? What are the habits of the successful people on this earth? Right? Questions like that are just not questions that I cared for, let alone asked out loud, you know, and I allowed many years to pass me by, and before you know it, I was, as I said, in that position as the overweight, sad, just depressed, just unhappy with life, dissatisfied. And every time I was seeking answers, I was on YouTube at the time, everything was was always pointing to self-education, self-education. And I'm like, Well, what the hell is self-education? And it says it says something along the lines like this, and I'm probably butchering this, right? But if you're relying on somebody else to care more about your knowledge and education more than you, to the point that they are willing to teach you all of it, you're gonna be disappointed. You're gonna be disappointed because you're just gonna be a copy and paste of somebody. You're gonna be waiting there and you're gonna say, Hey, I don't have an individual opinion, and I don't have an individual conversation internally happening with myself that allows me to disagree or agree with things that I may or may not disagree with. You have to put yourself in a position where you have now accumulated experience, you have accumulated beliefs and ideas, and then from there you say this is a good foundation. How much more can I learn? How much more can I grow? How much better can I become? Because that that how much better part comes from the understanding that in order to have an extraordinary life, you must be consistent with the effort, right? That's why I put constant, never-ending improvement. Because if you're anything like me, you probably reach a point in your life where you say, This is enough, this is good enough, and then you realize it's not good enough. There's always more. Because when you think that you are good enough, the world around you changes, and now what even some would consider good is no longer considered good because everything else has advanced. That's how you end up. This is kind of a a funny comparison, but that is in today's world how you end up as the the 60, 70-year-old person who can't operate a phone and don't understand credit cards. You get what I'm saying? Like you're they're they're stuck behind. And could you imagine the inconvenience in today's world if you didn't know how to operate your phone, the GPS, the internet, okay? All because not life was against you, but because you chose to not continue pursuing education. You chose to stay stagnant, you chose to say, Well, some things aren't gonna work, I don't need to learn that. And guess what? Maybe you should have. You know, today's message is very simple. Just be a student for the rest of your life. Never tell yourself that you are good enough. That doesn't mean that you aren't good, but never good enough. Meaning there's always gonna be an opportunity for growth. Should you be the kind of individual that is seeking growth? So, sure, you could be like your average person. It's in the word standard. It's basic, standard. So you can have a standard education or you can take it within your own hands to teach yourself different lessons, different values, different perspectives that maybe the teachers aren't teaching you, that maybe other people in your life aren't aren't teaching you. And it's not that they're not teaching you because they're hiding it, it's because how could they teach you something they don't know themselves? Right? Imagine me when I was reading about psychology and human uh emotional intelligence, and when I was reading about um uh uh family curses and generational curses and mental domestications, and as I'm reading all of this, you know, I'm just like, why why was nobody talking about this in school? You know, and now as an adult, I meet some teachers and I'm like, holy shit, you really don't know. And you're a teacher, you know, and it's because they become a math teacher and it's all they know, they become a science teacher and it's all they know. You have to be malleable, you have to be the kind of person that doesn't just become just this one uh uh this bland flavor of a human being that's just very basic. Put yourself out there in different experiences, right? Sometimes I feel like I'm doing too much, but then I look at the people I've met from all of these different experiences from the flop plumbing, from the gym, from the podcast, from the bodybuilding, from the jujitsu, from the fact that I'm Puerto Rican, from the fact that I'm now married to an Italian woman. Like all of these things have brought me different perspectives, different ideas, new questions, different answers, rights and wrongs, and it allows me to make a a good educated guess because I didn't seclude myself to a box and convince myself that I'm just good enough. Think about that. I'm gonna leave it with that. Right? I feel like that's good enough to leave you with for the next few weeks. Never tell yourself that you're good enough. There's always opportunity for growth, and it is always up to you to choose to see the growth and do something with it. So, with that being said, I'll be back in a few weeks. I hope you gain value from this episode. Remember, it is always within your reach, within your control, within your power to make better decisions. Until next time.
