Bless me, Google, for I have sinned. It’s been one month since my suspension. Welcome to Simplified Sparky Marketing.

Tomorrow marks one full month since my Google Business Profile was suspended—and it’s not getting any better. But in this episode, I’ll walk you through everything I’m doing to try and get it reinstated.

If you missed the first part of this saga, go back a few episodes. I’m not sure of the number off the top of my head. But in short, my Google Business Profile got suspended for vague reasons. The email I received said my business either didn’t exist or wasn’t following the guidelines. That’s all I got.

I treated that listing better than Facebook or Instagram—because my ideal clients aren’t on those platforms. So I didn’t really care about them. But I was consistently getting leads through my Google Business Profile, and I looked after it religiously. Regular photo uploads, posts, reviews—I had 541 at the time of suspension.

When the suspension hit, I initially appealed, but it got knocked back. So I submitted further documentation—company registration, business name, phone bills, BAS records—you name it. Still declined. I thought, “What the fuck?”

So I turned to a freelancer from Fiverr. And let me tell you, Fiverr is gold for things like this. It used to be $5 per job; now it’s more of a marketplace. I found a guy with over 1,300 reviews who specializes in reinstating Google Business Profiles. He’s based in India, a man of few words.

He asked me for access—either login details or to add him as a manager. I hadn’t even paid him yet, so I asked for the process and payment terms. He said, “You don’t pay until it’s reinstated.” Honestly, it sounded too good to be true, but I figured I had nothing to lose.

I gave him access, and he requested more documents—some I’d already submitted, some new. I’d already used AI to rewrite the profile to better match Google's guidelines, even changing the business hours to more standard times, like 6 AM to 5 PM. But that might have hurt me too.

Heads up: If you change your hours to something like 7 AM to 3 PM, your business might not show up on the map after hours—even if that’s when someone is searching. So be careful with edits.

Back in 2021, I had another issue after moving address. I had to prove the new address by FaceTiming Google with my garage decked out—van outside, ladders, tools, even a fake “training” switchboard. It was a lie, but it worked. The more you tinker with your profile, the more risk you’re taking.

It feels like a Netflix documentary now. People are messaging me saying, “Mine was down for three months,” or “It’s still down.” It’s happening to heaps of sparkies. So don’t touch your profile lightly—especially your address or hours.

I’ve got a backup profile live now, but I’m terrified to touch it. It’s only got three reviews compared to the 541 I had on the original. If you’re moving address, make sure everything matches—licensing, GST, registrations—before you do.

The Fiverr guy reckons 10 to 21 days to get it reinstated. Who knows, maybe he’s got an inside contact. I don’t care. I’d pay a couple grand to get it back. That listing is your best lead source—better than Google Ads, which can cost $500+ just to get to someone’s door in competitive areas.

I’ve done another podcast about Google Ads—go listen to that if you're tempted to run them. There are better ways to make money if your organic game is strong.

Hopefully, part three of this saga will bring good news. If not, I’ll keep you posted.

Also—bonus podcast dropping tomorrow! I’m opening spots for the Simplified Sparky Mentorship on the 8th of July 2025. I’m being picky. I want to work with winners, not silver bullet seekers. Some legends are already on board, and I can’t wait to level up their businesses.
