A Little Alignment

Season Finale Reflections

A Little Alignment Season 1 Episode 48

With Lauren embarking on the transformative journey of motherhood, we're tying a gentle bow on Season One of 'A Little Alignment' and stepping into a summer interlude. It's a time to honor new life and revitalize our spirits, much like the sacred post-birth periods celebrated across cultures. As we bid adieu for now, we're not just promising a return in the fall with Season Two but also sharing our vision to return imbued with the rich wisdom gleaned from our personal expansions (and a few new elements that we think you'll love). So keep your ears tuned for the stories yet to unfold, the laughter and lessons that await, and the evolution of two friends who are just as curious about the next chapter as you are.

Speaker 1:

Welcome to A Little Alignment. If you enjoy what you hear today, if you gain some value from our episode, please leave us a good rating and review at the end. Every single review counts. It really does make a difference. We would appreciate it with all our hearts. We're so glad y'all are here with us, helping us create a little more alignment in the world. In case anyone was wondering, the quote from uh insight timer today is really nice. Oh, it says it's by um roy t bennett and it says don't be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I love that. I do too which can totally go with what we're about to talk about.

Speaker 1:

Hey, you're right, that's cool. I didn't mean to. I was just looking at the time and then I saw the quote and I was like this is good, I'm going to just read it because I have a mic in my hands and I can do that, and I can do that.

Speaker 2:

Hi everybody.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so we're here to tell you somewhat of an announcement that we're actually really excited about. So, first of all, we most of you, if you've listened to the past episodes, you know that Miss Lauren, Miss Lauren.

Speaker 2:

Miss Lauren, that's me like a teacher, like I know, like a teacher.

Speaker 1:

Lauren, third grade teacher the goddess is pregnant, and very much so. I'm here to attest you. You're a small person and that baby is taking up a lot of real estate yeah, I can feel it where my lungs would like to be, which is which is part of why we're doing what we're doing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so we've been going back and forth about how to you know how how the podcast and the baby all are going to work together and this new season of life for you. That's going to be amazing, but just it's the unknown for you, right?

Speaker 2:

And very much so. This is our first baby, so who knows what I'm getting into.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and we want, we want to really make sure that you, that Lauren, has space to just be in that, however, she needs to. And we also learned this really interesting fact that across many cultures and faith traditions, there's this like 40 day. What?

Speaker 2:

do you, what do you? What would you call it some? I mean, it's kind of some kind of like a quarantine or it's just the sacred time to honor, yeah, this new chapter of life or this phase of life, yeah for women after giving birth. So it is interesting it looks different like in chinese culture versus like mexican culture. I've just like done a very like brief dive into what that 40 day post birth period looks like, which I can't say I'm going to be following either of those two by any means, but it just when you hear of something that spans multiple, like you said, cultures and traditions, I mean that's got to be for a reason.

Speaker 2:

You know, and I don't know what I'm getting it. I could try to pretend and I could try to be prepared, which I am definitely doing, but how I will actually respond and how things will play out, tbd, tb, tbd.

Speaker 1:

I guess TBE, tb experienced yeah Um. So what we've decided to do is wrap up season one of a little alignment which has been, in our hearts and in our perspective, an absolute success.

Speaker 2:

So much fun.

Speaker 1:

So much fun, and then we're going to take the summer off and come back in the fall with season two.

Speaker 2:

Totally reimagined and revamped. Yeah, and there's going to be different versions of us that are emerging for that season two. There's going to be different versions of us that are emerging for that season two, which I'm really pumped for, because, yeah, right now you're getting Lauren before she becomes a mother. You're not going to get the same girl after this.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that is cool, I know, and I was telling, I was telling Lauren before we started recording that that's something that I really want to do as well. I'm not having a baby, but I want to take this time and really I mean specifically for the podcast. Always I'm, we're both always trying to become, you know, even better versions of ourselves and grow.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, for the podcast especially. I want to. I want to come back for you guys even better, even more centered, even more even educated, but present and just just you know, be able to see the way that this experience has been for me and how can I come back and add even more value and be even more authentic and, yeah, have even more fun yes, right so that's our intention is to take this time to just be with what needs to be.

Speaker 1:

It's going to look different for both of us because, yeah, I mean, let's be real, I'll be here.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, all the time I hope so the baby. Oh, I will be.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, so we're really, we're actually really excited about it because it gives us the space to take inventory and, as far as the podcast goes, and be able to do a little bit of that, like you said, a re-imagining and create something new out of something that's already here.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I think it's really good too, because I mean just this experience so far of pregnancy and everything it's given me a whole different perspective on so many things and there's a lot that I've learned already and I think that that's just going to be more fuel to have a better and deeper understanding of what other people go through.

Speaker 2:

And my intention, too, is to be super duper vulnerable with you guys and just honest, because there's a lot I haven't talked about in terms of my experience so far and I feel like I want to have the baby start motherhood before I even try to pretend like I've, you know, gathered up all of the things I want to share. So I'm still marinating on all of what I'm going to share, but I can tell you that I have a lot that I want to share and hopefully it'll be really helpful for other people to hear about my experience, because I know a lot of what I went through early on in this pregnancy was just feeling like alone and like I didn't really have other people. I just didn't hear much about what I was experiencing from other people. So I think that's a big intention for me is just to be as vulnerable as possible and share, so that there's someone out there speaking to some of the things that I feel like are not often said. So that'll be a fun thing to come of season two of a little alignment.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and you know, you said you want to be more vulnerable or you want to be really vulnerable, and that's something that I want as well, for myself to be show up even more, like I said authentically, but that's really I mean there's vulnerability in that and really show up. And yeah, I mean, I think I mean I can definitely say that as, as we have done this and really put ourselves into it, I mean it's like anything else, you don't really know what you're doing. No one really knows what they're doing before they do it.

Speaker 2:

Right yeah.

Speaker 1:

You can have an idea and you can have. You know grounding, intention and whatever we did and we have but you know, after, after this time that we've had with it, I can definitely see things in myself and I'm like, okay, I want to be better in that way, I want to do better in that way, and one of those things for sure is just being more vulnerable and more open.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think that it's. I mean, obviously, when you first start something, it's a little scary, and now we have a little bit more practice under our belt with just feeling safe to express how we feel about certain things and allowing ourselves to feel a certain way and then maybe change our mind later.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

You know. So I think it's going to be cool because season two is going to be version two of us as podcasters in really showing up authentically and leaving behind some of the fear of judgment, and that's going to be exciting too. So, yeah, I mean I'm I'm looking forward to it. It's going to be really um, it's going to be cool for me to even just see who it is that shows up at that point in time, because I don't know yet.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I know we have some. Really, we have some ideas as well to offer and even you know, just a different experience. I don't want to say better, but hopefully better. That's the goal. Right is to continue to get better and better, but we have some fun ideas that we're going to play around with and that's something that I'm going to be doing while you're integrating into mother hood and that new lifestyle.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to be doing some research and some planning and getting some stuff ready for us so that we can come back and really just, I mean, continue to continue to have fun and to and to do this because it's been so rewarding and specifically because of the people that it has reached and the people who've reached out and been like thank you so much for putting this out there and that's everything right. It's like, oh my gosh, you listened to it and that's so nice, and then it actually helps you like that's, that's all we want and, yeah, again, it's really rewarding. So I want to just make sure that we're continuing to give more and more value and support.

Speaker 2:

And I also want to invite feedback, thoughts, questions. What is it that you would like to hear more of? What is it that you might not maybe want?

Speaker 1:

to hear less of.

Speaker 2:

But all of that can be worked into season two. So I am just opening the door to any and all feedback from people who have been listening and just would like more from us or something different from us. So please, please, reach out on Instagram. You can send Kendra and I both a DM. So mine is just Lauren Pena Dial, l-a-u-r-e-n-p-e-n-a-d-i-a-l, and then Kendra, she's Kendra Dyer Crab, so it's K-E-N-D-R-A-D-Y-E-R-C-R-A-B-B Double B. Yeah. So send us a DM and let us know your thoughts If there's anything that you feel you wish we would have done or would like to do differently or add in or anything. Just open to feedback, cause we just want this to be something that's really, really valuable for you.

Speaker 1:

Yeah absolutely and just to know. Uh, as far as any creative endeavor goes, it is really valuable to take some time away and to let yourself have some space away from it. It is, I think, sometimes. I know in my past I've been afraid to pause anything that has good traction and good momentum, because I'm like, what if I can't come back? Or what if I don't come back? Or what if this is just me making an excuse and I'm going to quit? And this is just me quitting.

Speaker 2:

I don't want that.

Speaker 1:

No, that's not going to happen, and I'm here to tell you that you can trust yourself more than that right it's it's.

Speaker 1:

It's actually incredibly valuable to to take some space to let things integrate, to let yourself go play, go get inspired, to just you know what I mean mean like let yourself take a breath. In fact, I remember doing. I think it was insanity. It was insanity. Do you remember the beach body videos called insanity? I never did that. Oh, I did and it was insane. But one thing that Sean T would always say is he said if you need to take a break, take a break. A break can fix you. And that lives ramp free in my brain all the time. I think about it when I'm working out, I think about it when I'm in my creative endeavors and work at home. Sometimes a break is exactly what you need to to quote, unquote fix you, to help you show up in the way that you want to most empowered, most light filled and most inspired. So we're taking that advice and we're going to take a break yeah and it's going to be it's going to be great.

Speaker 2:

It's going to be needed. Yeah, for me, we'll be back we'll be back soon, you'll see.

Speaker 1:

Fun fact about lauren is she doesn't like musicals no, not at all fun fact about kendra is I'm uncomfortable that's how much I don't like them.

Speaker 2:

They actually make me feel awkward in my skin like she feels embarrassed when they start singing I do, I have to leave. My face gets like red that's so funny to me.

Speaker 1:

Something's ringing over here, um, anyway, I think that's hilarious because I'm obviously like super musical, my whole family, we're like performers. You would have been embarrassed to be friends with me when I embarrassed to be friends with you.

Speaker 2:

I just would not have watched musicals with you. What if I was in the musical? I would have been like it's kind of like watching a friend play a sport. You know, like I wasn't into baseball but my boyfriend would play baseball and then. I would watch because I wanted to support him and it was exciting to see him do it because I knew him so like I would be so supportive of you going up on stage and doing it.

Speaker 2:

I can't guarantee that someone else up there singing wouldn't make me uncomfortable but I would be there for you.

Speaker 1:

And it's an unlikely, you know, connection here, you and I, because I sing everything Like I, just you and I, on this podcast. I sing everything, but that's from a musical. You'll be back soon, you'll see it's from Hamilton, which you have to see.

Speaker 2:

This is all just going right over my head.

Speaker 1:

I'm embarrassing you. I'm kidding. Are we done? That's all we got, guys. Okay.

Speaker 2:

I'm embarrassing you, I'm just kidding. Are we done? That's all we got guys. Okay, see you later, see you next season, bye oh, that's awesome.

Speaker 1:

All right, well, we love you guys. We love the support. Thank you for being here and, by the way, don't, you know, don't discount listening to things a second time?

Speaker 2:

oh, yeah, that there it's like watching a movie for a second time. You pick up things that you didn't notice the first time around, and we have a lot of episodes on. I mean, I think some pretty cool stuff.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that we really poured ourselves into.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, I mean also hearing it from like a different place in life, right? So like something you might have heard a few months ago that we put out there. You might have been in a different place and so, based on where you are now, you're hearing it from, for the completely new set of ears. You know, you never know. Based on whatever you're experiencing, you could perceive our message completely different.

Speaker 1:

So yeah definitely go back and listen to some older episodes and don't you worry there are new ones that are going to be coming, new ones coming and again, like lauren said, we'd love to hear feedback. So please don't you worry. There are new ones that are going to be coming, new ones coming and again, like lauren said, we'd love to hear feedback. So please don't hesitate to send that any any feedback at all. I know sometimes I'm hesitant to send feedback because I'm like I don't know, there are probably other people have better feedback feedback than me. But the thing is, like lauren said, we want this to be valuable to you. If you are here, then we really care about what you have to say, yeah. So any feedback you have, we are, we will welcome it gladly and gratefully.

Speaker 1:

But otherwise I think that is a wrap for season one of A Little Alarmist Yay. Good job, friend.

Speaker 2:

And just thank you so much for listening to us too, because if you're listening to this, this means that you really care.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And I really appreciate you for listening and I hope this is valuable. And yeah, like kendra said, I mean truly. If you are still listening to this. We want to hear what you have to say and hear your thoughts. So please, please, please, let us know we are here for it all and we'll see you.

Speaker 1:

We'll see you in the fall that was a little poem that we did together there.

Speaker 2:

Yeah okay, all right. Bye, everybody. If you found any of what we shared today helpful, please share this with a friend, and we would so appreciate a rating and review to help us grow and reach more people also, please feel free to send us any feedback and questions. You can find us on Instagram. Kendra can be found at Kendra Dyer Crabb, k-e-n-d-r-a-d-y-e-r-c-r-a-b-b, and you can find myself at Lauren Pena Dial, and it's L-A-U-R-E-N-P-E-N-A-D-I-A-L. Thanks so much for listening and I hope you have a beautiful rest of your day.
