SPEAKER_01

The thing popped up and I'm like, oh, I wonder what's going on. And I look and there she is laying like horizontally across the bed like a zombie. I'm like, my god, this is kind of scaring me. If I feel like doing something, I do it. If I don't feel like something doing something, I don't do it. You know, it's kind of I'm very much in that place now.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I and I kind of like being there, actually. I like that.

SPEAKER_00

Midlife is a wonderfully weird place to be ma'am. Embrace it. Plenty of them with our brains, with our bodies, with people in our lives, situations, all the things because of our journey. You do learn how to move through that. You learn how to navigate it and handle things.

Meet Jules And Michelle

SPEAKER_01

Hey everyone. Jules and Michelle here, two spicy women from Seattle, Washington, taking on midlife with curiosity, humor, and zero interest in pretending we have it all figured out. We bring plenty of personal stories, strong opinions, laughs, and the occasional WTF moment to the conversation.

SPEAKER_00

Our goal is to create a space where midlife women feel seen, understood, and inspired to ask themselves, what do I want now? Because we don't believe midlife is a crisis. We think it just might be an awakening.

SPEAKER_01

Hello everyone. It's Jules and Michelle here. And uh welcome back, Spice Midlife Women. We are gonna have a chat with you today, not about something you're gonna learn, not about something that you need to take away really, but we just are gonna have fun with this. Oh yeah. Yeah. Because these this is all about like the what the fuck moments in midlife is there started to discover.

SPEAKER_00

There's there's like many. There's so many. When you think about it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there are so many. So anyway, um, I think what I've kind of started to notice is like things that are happening, and I'm like, what the hell? How did this become my life? Or how did all of a sudden things transition to where this is the way it is? You know how you kind of like start doing things and then all of a sudden it just becomes a part of your routine. There's been a few more of those kinds of things out there for me.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and so many things that make absolutely no sense too. It's it's like nobody hands you something that says that, and you're just not really ready for it. You just start all of a sudden kind of discovering things, or literally, it's there's things that make you go. I know. It it's like it's a little head scratcher.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And you're like, Am I ready for that yet? Or I'm or am I pushing back and I'm fighting it every step of the way? I mean, there are definitely I say that. It's like I'm fighting it every step of the way.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and all of a sudden you find yourself being excited about a vacuum. Yeah. Right? Getting a new vacuum.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, Michelle, I was asked one time. This is so sad. I was asked one time what I wanted for Christmas, and I wanted a shark vacuum.

SPEAKER_00

But yeah, that's what I'm saying. I mean part of the romance. So sexy. And all of a sudden you're carrying readers, you know, in your purse. Or for I mean, if anybody's like me, I have them in my purse, I have them in my nightstand, I have them in my car, I have them in my drawer at work. Like I I have them in my house for Michelle.

SPEAKER_01

So many different things. Because I had, I think, 20 pairs, and I got so tired of losing them, which is another issue with midlife, that you just kind of are very absor at least I am very absent-minded, but I was just like, no, and I had that eye surgery to where I don't have to wear glasses anymore. So I'm always giving her shit, going, I've got extra pairs for you over here. Or can I read that for you? That might be very small print for you. She's she's flipping me off every time she says that. Yeah. Yeah. So um, so we're just gonna laugh. We're gonna just talk about all these weird, wonderful things. What else are you gonna do?

SPEAKER_00

Well, I mean, let's be honest. Right. What else are you gonna do? I I think we should laugh about it. I know, and it's because to step outside of it, I know there are some moments where you might be in the thick of it and your hormones are raging and you're having a moment. Um, and then when you're done with it, you look back and you're like, oh my goodness, why did I act that way? Right? And that's a moment that can make you go, and you might not even have an explanation for that. No, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yeah, ladies, if you are experiencing even remotely anything we're talking about, you're in good company. And we're right, yeah, they're in such company.

Bodies Change Without Asking Permission

SPEAKER_01

Let's start with our bodies, let's start with our bodies. Uh we love our bodies. Oh, yeah, we do. We're establishing that up front. We love our bodies, but uh I can recall saying, Oh my god, you guys, it is so hot in here. And they're saying the AC's on. I'm like, no, it's not on, it's not on. And I'm dying, and then and then Mary will be sitting across the table from me in my office, and she's like, Oh, there's beads on your forehead. Uh-oh. Your face is turning red. Oh, yeah, it's like the microwave version, you know, everything's inside out. So anyway, it was kind of a joke for a long time because I was too cold or I was too hot, or I was just I was such a pain in the ass.

SPEAKER_00

Within like seconds, yeah, right. Yeah, that's how I get at night. Yeah. Do you at night? I do. I'll I'll be hot and then I turn the fan on and then I'm cold and you know, it just goes in and out. I get really warm. I sleep. I've never had an actual hot flash. I know. I like that. I hate you for that. I know. I've had enough for like three people. Or or what about since we're talking about bodies, it's like you sneeze, and I'm sure maybe some some of you maybe pull a muscle. For me, I like wet myself. Or I prepare, I know it's happening. So you're if you're walking, you kind of cross your legs when you make a sneeze. Very yeah, very like subtly, like pull your legs together so that yeah, I mean it happens to the best of us.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you. You're like, I have to go, I need to go to the I need to go pee, right? And it's like when you say that and you're walking to the bathroom and then all of a sudden you can't hold it. It's ridiculous. It's like when I go to the gym or anything to do with like jumping activities, I'm always beforehand. So then I don't have to deal with it.

SPEAKER_00

No. But some of us still deal with it. Yeah. Even though well, maybe for a half an hour. Yeah, I do, yeah, for a little bit of time. Or every time I stand up, my everybody knows because my knees are crackling, and you know. I think that's your whole body.

SPEAKER_01

It's like you like I was stretching this morning. It's like when I woke up, it's like I'm trying to talk myself and getting out of bed, you know. Michelle was already at work probably for an hour by then. Um, and I'm and I'm like stretching and I can hear it go like my wrist. Like that. Click, click, click, click, click, click. I think sometimes it's like your tendon like in your leg, your tendon going over your hip. That's what I'm gonna say.

SPEAKER_00

What about chin hairs? I don't really have that. I have I do.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I and I know there's a lot of women that do. And and you know what I've recently I keep a tweezer in my car. Do you really? I keep a tweezer in my car. And yeah, because when I'm driving and I feel that little, you know, stub of a whisker coming through or something, I can just like yank it while I'm driving.

SPEAKER_01

Really?

SPEAKER_00

It's like do you get them in your ears? I I'd have no clue. Oh, yeah, I guess you wouldn't necessarily pass. You get this occasional straggle of itch in here, and so I pull it out.

SPEAKER_01

I do that with my eyebrows. Like I can see normal. I know, but it seems like they grow, you know, like I have that mirror that's the magnifying mirror that I put in my which was maybe a mistake in my my bathroom, you know? Yeah. So you can flip it around or you can do whatever. And I notice all of those little guys that'll come in here.

SPEAKER_00

There's yeah, there's that too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I never used to do anything about them. Now I see them, and so I'll be like, oh shit, I gotta get rid of that. But yeah, anyway.

SPEAKER_00

And then just waking up sore, you know, kind of I mean, if you sleep in the at least most like not correct way, you know, you might have a sore neck. I don't know what it is with me and my neck.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. I've got like I don't know what it is. Like I'm not sleeping right or whatever, but it's always hurting, it's always bothering me.

SPEAKER_00

I try sleeping on my back a lot now. It's like I'm laying in a coffin. I told you I when I do that, I have bad dreams, right? You do not put your arms on my back. I do. I do. And then I just lay my head back and yeah, I I try to fall asleep that way. That's kind of creepy. Why? I don't know, is your arms across your chest?

SPEAKER_01

Well, it's it's like it's very natural. Are you are you um are you meditating like when you go to sleep or something? Nope, I'm just trying to go to sleep. Okay, so you know my mom, me, she's 92, right? Yeah, and we put cameras finally in we put cameras in her like bedroom area so we can see into her bathroom, not into the bathroom, but so down the hallway and then into the living room just in case she falls or something. And you hear you get I get these notifications whenever she's in a room, and it just pops up the notification, so you know that there's activity, you know, it's motion. Yeah. Well, the other day, to what you were doing, uh the the thing popped up, and I'm like, oh, I wonder what's going on. And I look, and there she is laying like horizontally across the bed like a zombie. I'm like, oh my god, this is kind of scaring me. Is she okay? Had there been enough movement where that wasn't the case? No, she just lays down like in her coffin. Just like she's like, I'm ready to go. Yeah, she's having a moment. So yeah, if I sleep on my back, I will have bad dreams. Yeah, I don't know why. Interesting. I just I'll end up having bad dreams. So I it's like left or right.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So the shoulder, if I used to be a big side sleeper, but um, yeah, no.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, kind of and do you have to sleep with a fan on?

SPEAKER_00

Not always, no.

SPEAKER_01

Rick sleeps with a fan on, I think.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. I need to just take the noise mostly.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Cashy is seems to think that he owns the space.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, speaking of our uh again, we're still talking about our bodies here and uh and how they seem to have called a meeting uh and not invited us to have any opinions on it. But um remember when you could stay out till like two o'clock in the morning and you know, have a good time and get I know, but what if you don't get enough sleep? Yeah, I'm a crabby I'm crabby. Yeah, you're really crabby when you don't get up when yeah, you don't get enough sleep.

SPEAKER_01

I can always tell when Michelle needs to regroup after she's had a couple Tito's or whatever. Well and the next day she's fasting. Yeah, and she's going in the sweat tent. Yep, sweating it out, sweating it out, no makeup, yeah, and she's cleaning her house. It's a whole thing. It's a whole thing. She's resetting everything.

SPEAKER_00

Reset, reset.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I did I think it's hilarious because it happens more often than one might think.

Memory Glitches And Password Chaos

SPEAKER_01

What about our memories?

SPEAKER_00

What do you mean? Like our memory. Memories. Yeah, thinking about things. I forget about shit all the time. Walk into a room and forget. I mean, you know, there's that whole thing on tick. Do you remember? Yeah. They do that. You walk in the room, they're looking around, and what is it?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, don't remember all the time. But you know what? I've been like that a lot, like my whole life almost. So I don't know that it's a new thing for me. I think it's kind of something that kind of is getting worse. Okay, maybe, but I've always been very uh absent-minded.

SPEAKER_00

What about this? When have you ever done this?

SPEAKER_01

Never have I ever. Where you're looking for your phone, but you're on the phone and talking. Try this. Looking for your phone and it's in the freaking refrigerator. What? Yes, I did that. Yes. Why would you put your phone in the I was putting something away?

SPEAKER_00

I was probably putting my phone away. Have you ever, though, been talking on it and been looking for it? Like, where's it at? Yeah. Or your glasses on your head. Yeah. We've uh seen heard a few times. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I do worry. I do worry. I think I have like this incredible worry that that's gonna be me when I'm like 80.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I think right now you and a few of our close friends are dealing with uh parents with yeah, Alzheimer's and your forgetfulness. And so, of course, that caused. Mary told you what's happening if I'm forgetting things. Yeah, yes, she has. Yes, I have. She doesn't want anyone else to have to deal with her. So she would just like to have a party. Just like in Julie's style, Irish Exit. Irish Exit. She sent down to Oregon, not coming back.

SPEAKER_01

I'll take my own prescription. Oh my goodness. I'll probably go to hell in the process, but that's okay. What about forgetting words?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Words, like when you're when you're trying to explain something. You mean like earlier when we were recording and I couldn't remember? If you can't remember the word that you're yeah, that I'm not sure.

SPEAKER_01

That happens to me all the time. I think too, we talk about, oh, it's such a cliche. Time's just flying, you know? Yeah. Oh my god. I believe it's August already. Michelle. Time is flying. It is. And every day, I always say it's like every day, it's like you're never gonna be as young as you were yesterday. Not that I need to be younger than I was yesterday, but it's like I kind of like to let time freeze for a moment and let just me embrace the moment and not have to worry about, you know, whether my knees are gonna creak or whatever, you know, in six months.

SPEAKER_00

Speaking of our minds and our brains and the things we remember and can't remember, I think it's so incredibly amazing that I can remember almost every word to so many songs from the 70s, the 80s, the 90s, literally through the decades up until now. I I know so many songs. But do you think I can remember the password to my 401k account at work, or do I have to reset it every frickin' time? Every friggin' time that I go into it.

SPEAKER_01

Of course, you know, do you put like I have this little notes app and so I'll put it in the notes app and then I've got Zoe, my daughter, saying, Mom, you know that there's like app there's passwords. There's apps and everything.

SPEAKER_00

I know there's apps for organized. But that would require me to find my phone. It it's really crazy though, if you think about it. Like I can remember my childhood phone number because we used to dial it all the time too. And uh, but passwords, it's really a thing.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and and I keep the same one and start rotating them and adding different things to them. So that's probably why my card got compromised yet again today. Oh my I shouldn't say that if the bank's listening.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they might know. Say what today? I don't know. Say what? What? Yeah. Anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Um But really, bodies and brains, yeah.

Style Rules And Midlife Confidence

SPEAKER_00

We know we have plenty of things that go on with that, but what about the world around us?

SPEAKER_01

Oh my gosh. You know? Well, I mean, we can see, we can physically see things that have changed, you know, over I mean, style trends and things that were happening back when we were, you know, 15 years old are back.

SPEAKER_00

I love it.

SPEAKER_01

I do too, actually.

SPEAKER_00

I love the 70s vibe going on.

SPEAKER_01

So remember like back in the nineties, they had leggings were a thing. Oh, yeah. Stirrup leggings. Yeah, stirrup, yeah. I wore leggings and kids' tennis shoes to work all the time. I wore that kind of stuff. And then they w leggings went away, and then when leggings came back, it was like a fashion trend that was for like 25 and under. At least that's what I was told. Of course, we worked at Nordstrom, right? So it's like they're putting these things out there, and this is, you know, in the departments that they were in and stuff like that. And I'm like, no, I want to wear those. And now I wear that shit all the time.

SPEAKER_00

I was I was just gonna say, you know, I I think working at Nordstrom like we did for so long, we were so you know, into what the trends were that were coming, you know, fashion obviously was a thing when you're working there, but I haven't been there now for like a long time. Yeah. And um, I don't really I I don't really know what the trends are. I'll I'll go shopping. You create the trends. I I really do. You really it's like because I'll wear leggings. I wear not, I really don't wear oversized jeans. I know that's kind of a thing right now. Over and barrel jeans, those are actually I I like how those look on other people. I have not like the camel ones, yeah. Those are really cute. I haven't tried that yet. But but really I think, especially as a midlife woman, I think it's really kind of important to um embrace whatever feels good. Yes, you know, your own style. Yeah, have your own style. It can be trendy. No, no problem there. It can be trendy. There's different variations of trendy. And I I think a lot of times what we wear um is a reflection of our personality. Yes. And uh, you know, how we hold confidence, how we are in regard to um being real and genuine with ourselves, yeah, you know, and not trying because I mean, let's be honest, some of the trends out there would not be good really, depending on how you if you if you follow it to a T, probably not the best for a midlife woman.

SPEAKER_01

But do you really want to be on trend with everything like you look like everybody else?

SPEAKER_00

No, that and that's what I'm saying. You gotta put your own flair to it, do what feels good, reflect your personality. Um I was in cosmetics. I used to say that a lot. Women would come in and you know they wanted a certain look. Well, yeah, they would say, I hear you're you're not supposed to do this after my age. You know, they say you're not supposed to, and I'm like, Who's they? Who's they? Who are they? Yeah, and and why are we listening to whoever they are? Yeah. You know, do you like the way this looks? Does it feel good? Then wear it.

SPEAKER_01

So but but see, that is the that's the the caveat right there. Because if you don't, if you you can wear the trend, but if you don't feel good in it, you're not confident in it, it's not you're not gonna pull it out. And like I went to a concert this weekend. Um, I know, shock and surprise. Went to a concert this weekend, and there is this woman that was sitting kind of, I don't know, down, I guess, a few, a few seats or whatever from where we were at. And she was probably around our age, but she looked darling, absolutely darling, dressed to she wasn't like dressed up like trying too hard. You could tell it was just the way that she looked. She had these adorable boots on, and she looked she just looked so cute and well put together. And it's like, of course, I always am telling, you know, I'll tell people, I was like, girl, you look fantastic. Yeah, you know, and it was like probably a version of something her teenage daughter would have worn, but from a midlife woman's perspective. That spin on it. Yeah. Go get it late. Like when you hear, like we you hear us say all the time, it's like, where will you want? Where what makes you feel comfortable? But it's like if I I wouldn't put on a pair of Daisy Dukes, you know? It's like I'm not at that place in my life where I would even feel comfortable wearing something like that. Would I wear cutoffs that were maybe a four-inch inseam instead of a two-inch inseam? Yeah, maybe. Depends, I guess. But there's different variations, I guess, to what some of those are. And there are those midlife women that that would wear. And if they want to and and they've got the lens for it, knock yourself out. I don't. It's just not the way I would feel comfortable.

New Fun: Day Parties And Birds

SPEAKER_00

Um lifestyle things can be interesting in midlife too. Um the fact that you know, happy hour is is much more appealing now. So don't you think than staying out late and going, yeah, I mean, anyways, to me.

SPEAKER_01

So like my new thing, the new thing Michelle and I have done a couple times is, and this is gonna sound weird, but it's like day clubbing where it's not really clubbing. You're not I would never in a million years. Oh, yeah. I know what you're talking about. Yeah. Just some like, yeah, that's not happening. And I didn't really do that much when I was younger either. I was married, had kids, all that kind of stuff. I wasn't really in the clubbing scene per se. But now it's like there's enough of us out there that really enjoyed that time in our lives and going out and listening to music and whatever that they're doing that kind of thing in a lot of places during the day now.

SPEAKER_00

They just they DJ, they they get the venue, it's an event, they have the DJ, they you know And it's fun. Yeah, it's totally different. It's not like everybody's just dancing and having playing stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a good time.

SPEAKER_01

So, anyway, so I've found a version of of that that works for me.

SPEAKER_00

Stuck by nine o'clock. Oh my god, some of them are like five to nine, some of them are like two to six. So happy I was at home by ten. Bed by ten. Yeah, it's it's I'm gonna get my ass up in the morning and I've got stuff to do, you know. Okay, and I don't okay, what about this? Because this is definitely something for me. I have birds. Oh birds. Oh my god, she's got the bird feeder. Bird feeders. I love the bird, like my sister has the most amazing backyard with bird houses. She gets she has all these different variations of birds. They're building nests in them, they're laying eggs in them, she has babies. It's it's like kind of cool. It's very cool. Um, trying to figure out what their call is, what they are based on what they look like and what their call is. It's it's kind of a thing.

SPEAKER_01

What it's a what is that called Autobahn person?

SPEAKER_00

That's that that's uh the Autobahn Society. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's are you some trees?

SPEAKER_00

That's like trees. Oh, what's what's the one about what it is? I I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Canary society, we can make our own Michelle Society. Michelle's kind of a nature girl, so I'm gonna pay attention to a lot of that stuff, which yeah, I'm very grateful for because I don't really pay attention to it unless she's around because she shows me different things. On a side note, she and her adult son, who's like an amazing landscaper, I begged him to help me put up and he warned me it was an intrusive plant. What is it called? Hysteria, yeah. And he did. He planted that bad boy, and it's wrapping that shit around poles, it's doing all this kind of stuff, and I'm like, I don't know what to do with it now. Yeah, yeah. So it's but I'm enjoying it, and I can't wait till it has peers.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. See, those I mean, those are the things we get excited about. Yeah. And that's what I mean. Just like like moments. Okay. Like watching that flourish and grow and watching the birds and going to happy hour, and it's a whole other thing. I'd have to ask you.

SPEAKER_01

What the hell is the big thing about pickleball? You know, it's a thing. It is such a thing.

SPEAKER_00

That is a like mid life thing. I haven't done it yet. I know a lot of women that are doing it and uh really competitively. They're in leagues, they have competition.

SPEAKER_01

But it's kind of become more of a thing. Yeah. Well, it started on Bay Bridge Island, which is in a Washington, you know, place.

SPEAKER_00

But it's really it's all over the place now.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, that's definitely a midlife thing. Um, and then I was cracking up when we were talking about like of course the luxury cars. We we we like to talk about those, but we were talking about like luxury air fryers. Oh yeah. Like the the the big air fryers that are out there and like yeah, they probably cost as much as luxury cars too.

SPEAKER_00

But a million years have talked about this stuff when I was, you know, yeah, 30 years old or something. And I was excited to get a toilet shim. I didn't I didn't even know what a toilet shim was. I don't know what that is. It's a little piece of plastic that you can it's you know what a shim is. Yeah. Uh yeah. So it's you can put it like if your toilet's not set completely and it kind of rocks a little bit, you can put that shim in there and it does not rock anymore. Can I tell you how exciting that was for me?

SPEAKER_01

She lives in the lower level of my house. I didn't know she did a toilet shim.

SPEAKER_00

But it doesn't rock anymore. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Now, why were you rocking on the toilet?

SPEAKER_00

It was it's not like it's not set uh the toilet. The toilet, yeah. Michelle's not rocking on the toilet.

SPEAKER_01

Um the thrill of canceling plans, or or should I say when plans are canceled? I don't get all mad about it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't get all mad about it. It's like it's okay.

SPEAKER_01

I was destined. I was destined for my you know, couch or something that I'm okay with that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um, and then you know, the other thing that I think we were just talking about this before we got started recording is how much people are talking about their medical shit. Oh yeah. You know, their knees, my my back, my arm, my neck, my back, yeah, my eyes, my teeth. There's like all kinds of my shots that I need to get or not get if you're Michelle, you know, just all the things. Yeah. And I'm like, I don't want to talk about the ailments. I was with the most adorable 89-year-old man yesterday, getting his house ready to sell. And we had we probably I was with them for three hours. Oh wow. We talked about all of the medical ailments. I learned so much about being 89 that makes me not want to be 89.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah. Well, see you. Just like plan ahead and you don't know. Plan ahead. See what you can do. I mean, I think it's just kind of funny talking about you know, all these things because they definitely are a thing in midlife. Yeah. And we we kind of don't even think about it. No, you know, calling them out like this, it's like, oh yeah, I do that. Yes, I get it. Um, yes, I get excited about getting new sheets.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Like we talked about earlier, getting a new vacuum, getting a new kitchen appliance, uh, organizing the pantry. Response. Can I just tell you, Julie, organized her pantry?

SPEAKER_01

And she is so excited about it. Oh my god, I took a video, I sh I sent it to her. I'm like, I I'm beyond excited that it's clean. But that's part of my OCDness too. Yeah. Next is my closet. And then after that's our off the office, which we can't even record in anymore because it's too small now, because I made my closet bigger, but that's beside the point.

Rapid Fire Midlife Truths

SPEAKER_00

Now we're gonna move on to answering some questions quickly. Oh okay. Okay, uh, yeah, because I know you're gonna be able to do that. Or is this a rapid fire lightning rate fire, whatever it is? Yeah, that I'm usually no good at, so I'm gonna start it. Okay. All right, here we go. So answering quickly. Well, let's it I there's a few of them here. We we jotted them down, so let's take turns. Okay. You ready? Yeah. Okay. Favorite place to shop. Home goods. Oh, I was struggling with that one actually, and that that is actually a good one. Yeah. That is a good one.

SPEAKER_01

Love going to look at all that stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, TJ Maxx and Marshall's too. Same thing. Yeah, same, same. Same company. Mm-hmm. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Um, well, I already know the answer to this probably. Shoes or comfort? It used to be shoes. Now it's comfort. Yeah. But what if you've got some styling shoes with comfort?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's what I try for now. Yeah. I do try because I still, I still just shoes are a thing and I still want them to be. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I've got those amazingly beautiful ruby red stiletto heels, but you know what? They have the Nike air in them. Oh. I don't know if you knew that. No, I didn't. Yeah, I just need to have a place to wear them. Yeah. You know? Wear them to bed. Wear them to No, there's an idea. There's an idea. Yeah. Um, bra off immediately when you get home? No, actually. Really? No. Why change into my PJs if I know I'm not going anywhere? I mean, hairs up in a ponytail.

SPEAKER_00

Not immediately. For me, uh, the girls hang a little low nowadays. So swing low. I, you know, the more they're out of that bra, the just the more gravity works on them. So we just keep them up and contained until I go to bed. I think that's in their best interest.

SPEAKER_01

I I used a long time ago, you guys, be like 34 Triple D, and I, you know, after having kids and all that kind of stuff, and I had a breast reduction, and now I'm just like, why did I do this? There's nothing left. Where is everything? Um, okay, what's another one? It's one thing you've completely stopped caring about. That's a tough one for me. I we were talking about that earlier. There's nothing that I really have stopped caring about that I can think of.

SPEAKER_00

I it and it's not like I've completely stopped, but I I have stopped caring about what other people think all the time.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah. That's it kind of goes. But there are things like in one of the episodes we just have that of course we are concerned about things like this.

SPEAKER_00

That's why I say not completely.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But I guess I don't let it affect me like I used to.

SPEAKER_01

I completely do not care anymore about red light cameras. Red light cameras. I just got another ticket.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, red light camera. Fuck those red light cameras. Yes. Oh my gosh. Always on the opportunity.

SPEAKER_01

They're not giving me any more grace. That's crazy. Yeah. Um, okay, so what thing, what's one thing you've unexpectedly started loving? Um, not really unexpectedly, but more sleep. More sleep. Yeah. I wish I could get more sleep, but I like to I'm I'm kind of a I like to stay up.

SPEAKER_00

I I do too. Yeah. That's why it's like I and I'm this is kind of I'm recognizing this because I do too stay up late. Um, but I do I'm finding that I do love getting enough sleep. That's definitely a thing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So, and I do love it when I do. It's it's kind of nice. We all love it when you do, Michelle. We do love it when I do.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I love it when you do too. Um, is there uh anything else you can think of? Well, what's something that's gotten better with age? Sex without question.

SPEAKER_00

I was that was my answer. Well, I'm not having sex with you, but sex is definitely yeah, it's better. I think because we understand so many um so many things surrounding it that have to do with intimacy, that have to do with the physicality of it, you know, um there's just a lot more surrounding in it than what we used to think.

SPEAKER_01

I am kind of of the opinion that it's like my sexual desire does not control my direction.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

If I feel like doing something, I do it. If I don't feel like some doing something, I don't do it. Yeah, you know, it's kind of I I'm very much in that place now.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So I and I kind of like being there, actually. I kind of like that.

SPEAKER_00

Midlife is a wonderfully weird place to be.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, ma'am.

SPEAKER_00

Embrace it, embrace the midlife.

SPEAKER_01

I think when we're younger, we spend a lot of time worrying about, you know, if you're fitting in and, you know, if you're doing things correctly, and you know, if you're pissing people off, you know, your family, whatever. And as you've gotten, you know, older and you've kind of gained more experience, those things, you know, seem to not have nearly the same type of I think because you've learned how to navigate, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We've learned how to navigate. There are so many things. Um, I mean, this episode was all about things that make you go, hmm, there's plenty of them with our brains, with our bodies, with people in our life, situations, all the things. But because of our journey, you do learn how to move through that. You learn how to navigate it and handle things, you know. You just learn how to handle all the weird shit that you can. It's there's things that bother, but you you learn how to handle it better.

SPEAKER_01

Things that bothered you before, you're just like, I don't really care now. Yeah. So all of these are benefits and blessings, I think, of growing older.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah. Yeah.
