Today my guest speaker is Dr Charlotte Marriott, a Consultant adult NHS Psychiatrist specialising in Early Intervention in Psychosis, a Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician and a nature-based coach. Shes been working in the NHS for nearly 20 years. She likes to inspire and empower people to make small changes to their lifestyles to improve their physical and mental health and well-being.  

In todays podcast we cover  

 

  1. What is the difference between Mental health and mental Illness 
  2. How can dysfunction in mental state cause physical symptoms 
  3. What can we try to help people improve their mental health? What strategies can they engage in?  
  4. How can we harbour a positive mindset- what activities can we engage in? 
  5. What aspects of people's behaviour stop them for engaging in activities to help their mental state. 
  6. What's forest bathing and shinrin yoku? 
  7. How does physical activity improve health? What’s the science behind it and has gut health been implicated 
  8. The hormonal effect of exercise – and BDNF aka ‘miracle gro’– what is it and how exercise can boost it?  
  9. What is ‘burnout’?  
  10. For women who are perimenopausal who get symptoms due to hormonal imbalances and get anxious due to lowering progesterone etc - how can we help this subset of patients?
