The Dr Milli Podcast: Boost & Biohack your health
I’m Dr Milli Raizada, a UK-based family physician/GP.
I’ve over 15 years experience practicing medicine here in the UK. In this podcast series, I’m going to take that experience and bring expert speakers to you and use this pod as a tool to educate and empower people to make better lifestyle choices, looking at the evidence base on how we can prevent, treat and reverse lifestyle-related chronic conditions and hormonal issues. We look specifically at the principles of lifestyle medicine which include
1. Nutrition focusing on low carb, fasting and ketosis
2. Exercise cardo, strength, flexibility and balance (yoga)
3. Sleep
4. Mental Health/Stress Management
5. Avoiding toxins (environment and in food/smoking, drinking)

Episode 016: Hormone testing - the ins and outs of the DUTCH test with Dr Debbie Rice
Today I am joined on the podcast by Dr Debie Rice. Debbie is the Director of Clinical Education at Precision Analytical Laboratory. She gr aduated from NCNM (NUNM) after falling in love with Naturopathic Medicine and pursuing her passion for access and advocacy for health care. She was introduced to Naturopathic Medicine through her own health struggles and after much investigative work, she became a fan of lifestyle evaluation and treatment.
She has worked with communities in need, supporting Natural Doctors International in Nicaragua, as well as the Peace Corps prior to medical school. Given her experience, she also obtained an MPH from Grand Canyon University for a broader understanding of the global health impact. She has worked in many diverse environments including private practice. She is a trained midwife and loves working with hormones and hormone balance. When not digging into the literature with her team at DUTCH, she can be found either in the sun or the river, snuggling her animals, or lying in a blissed out shivasanah after a great yoga practice.
In today’s episiode, we cover
- What is a DUTCH test?
- When and who to test?
- Is the DUTCH test appropriate if we don't have regular periods?
- What the DUTCH test can tell us about metabolism of hormones
- Estrogen metabolites – good vs bad
- What is oestrogen dominance?
- Symptoms related to high oestrogen? (pro inflammatory) ? histamine response?
- Where people can get a DUTCH test from?
- How can we find a provider?
