Jan 15, 2024

Hey there, welcome to the NorthStar Physical Therapy podcast!

I am your host, Dr. Shirlea North and I dive into lymphedema, lipedema, and various pelvic health dysfunctions. My goal is to provide to you a better way to understand these conditions so that you empower yourself with knowledge to advocate for yourself. Let NorthStar Physical Therapy guide and navigate you on your journey to optimal health!

In today’s episode, I will be sharing with you about managing expectations with your pelvic and lymphatic health provider. It is important to manage your expectations because even if the medical industry has advanced as a whole, our bodies have not.

When it comes to pelvic and lymphatic health, we have to keep in mind that we have to be patient with our bodies. Let’s give our bodies the time to heal and be consistent with what we are doing so that we can truly see progress!

Hope this episode has influenced your mindset so you can start 2024 right!

Let’s discuss:

  • Introduction to today’s topic
  • The importance of managing expectations with your health care provider
  • Some expectations you need to manage regarding you, your body, and your health
  • What are my clients’ accountabilities and what are my accountabilities
  • Things that I look at my clients so I can set both of our expectations
  • Setting expectations on treatment timeframe
  • How I create a supportive environment for my clients
  • The importance of giving feedback to your health care provider and letting them know what your life’s circumstances are
