Bettina Mahoney

Today on "I Feel You", we chat with Take Back the Night 501(c)(3) Foundations social media manager and rape survivor Kiley. She shares her survivor story with such bravery, and this story will inspire so many. Please take breaks while listening to this episode, a trigger warning that we do talk about moments of rape. Listening under the age of 18 without a parent or guardian is not advised.

Take Back the Night: Our global mission as a charitable 501(c)(3) Foundation is to end sexual violence in all forms, including sexual assault, sexual abuse, trafficking, stalking, gender harassment, and relationship violence, and to support survivors in their healing journeys. We foster safe communities through international events and initiatives. Take Back The Night Events unite people from every background, belief, and culture around the world to take a visible and vocal stand.

Kiley has worked with TBTN for 9 months as a social media manager, communications coordinator, and intern. She is a survivor of rape and child sexual abuse. Her passion for this work comes from feeling isolated in her own survivor story. Survivor justice, education, and community are a major part of the healing process. After her experience with sexual violence, she was left alone to heal resulting in dissociation and shame. Before she found TBTN, Kiley did not know how high the need truly is, but survivors and their stories need a safe space. Through her work and future career, Kiley hopes to make sure survivors have a safe space after violence. Kiley is a student currently based in Florida studying history, law, and justice. When she is not working or studying, she is reading, working out, or looking for the dolphins in the bay at the edge of her campus.
