Orange trees and "Abundance Mindset" (for business owners)
In this super quick episode, Jenna shares a powerful lesson she learned from an unexpected source—a flourishing orange tree.
When I first entered the business world, I was unfamiliar with the concept of "mindset" and how the thoughts in your head affect your decisions (and business growth).
During a standing weekly chat with my friend Alicia Wood, I was struck by the abundance of an orange tree in my yard. This tree, overflowing with fruit, became a vivid analogy for abundance: even when it seems bare after harvesting, it remains a source of endless potential.
In business, seasons of growth, rest, and recovery are natural. Embrace these cycles. Remember, a day of low sales doesn’t define your worth as a business owner, just like an orange tree remains an orange tree even when not full of fruit.
Think of this episode next time you’re in the produce aisle.

This is going to be a super short episode, but I found this really helpful and I hope you find this helpful as well when I first got into business, I wasn't familiar with this world of mindset I didn't know what that meant. Maybe you don't know what that means either,
It's basically the concept that what's going on in your head is greatly affecting the choices you are making in your business, in your life. Outside of your head and as someone who is a visual learner and who learns best in like metaphors and analogy I had this conversation with my friend alicia wood this week and um I don't know.
I just found this really helpful. So We started talking about how there is an orange tree in the yard where i'm staying And someone had once told me that one of the ways to, like, bring abundance into your life is to look for something around you that is abundant and then, , anchor it. And then it's, like, every time you see that thing that is abundant, you remember this concept of abundance and you, , draw more abundance to you, okay?
It's a little bit woo, but I love, I loved it. And it's not allowed to be money because money isn't real. So it has to be something , real that exists. And so . I was telling Alicia, this orange tree in this yard where I'm staying blows my mind because it is so abundant. It is covered in oranges, so many.
This person that owns the tree, they could sell the oranges. They could give away the oranges. They do give away the oranges. They have more oranges than they could ever even give away. And maybe you live in a place that has citrus trees, but I don't. So I was shocked to see how many oranges grow off one being, one tree.
Later on in the day, they were harvesting the tree. And they took down most of the oranges. They left some low ones for us to, like, pick so we can just go outside and grab one, which also feels, , just so abundant.
, but yeah, so they were harvesting the tree. And then I looked at it, and it was mostly bare. And I thought, wow, that's still an orange tree. It's still an incredible tree that provides so much, even if right now, there aren't a lot of oranges on it.
I'm someone who can have, like, honestly, my record is like an 80, 000 day in Canadian I think we made like 80, 000 in one day and like I can have an 80, 000 day and then when the next day is slow Be stressed and that is not a good mindset. That's not healthy. It's not fun. It doesn't make business fun It's not, you know practical
Because you gotta harvest the oranges, man. Just because you don't make sales one day doesn't mean you are not a good business owner. Just because you have seasons where there's a lot of sales and then seasons where you focus on delivery or seasons where you focus on growth and generosity and giving especially when you're talking about content creation.
Seasons where you're just like posting a bunch of really fun stuff that grows your account gets Eyeballs on you. You're still good. You're still a good business owner. You're still a good orange tree Here's another thing about this orange tree. I have lost some people already. They're tuning out of this up.
It's fine It's fine. If this isn't your vibe, you can go we have lots of practical episodes that you could listen to I'll just keep talking about this freaking tree. Okay, so
The guy harvesting the tree told us that it's really important to pick the oranges because then the tree will bear more fruit next year. Okay? It's really important to pick the oranges. You have to give away that fruit. You got to sell it. You have to allow for growth.
If you just let those oranges rot on the tree, it's going to produce fewer oranges next year.
Especially since it's winter right now, we hear a lot of , we need to have seasons of rest, we need to have seasons of , energy followed by seasons of recovery, sleep is important. Like, you get advice like this all the time. I see it all the time on Instagram especially, but like for some reason this orange tree just, it all really clicked.
Here's another one that also came up this week because, , you know, again, I was like, Oh, you know, we're halfway through the month. We haven't met our goals for the month.
My husband goes, you know, the team that just won the Super Bowl. They're the best in the world right now, right? Like they have the title and they still lost three or four games during the season. I was like Wow, yeah, of course like I really am an optimist. I really try and have a positive attitude all the time I don't even like when people say well, you can't win them all because my brain goes why not?
Why can't we win them all let's win them all But seriously, the best team in the world didn't win every game in the season. And they still came out on top.
I hope this episode found who it was supposed to find today. Think of me next time you're in the grocery store in the produce aisle.
You're the best. Don't forget it. Let yourself have seasons. I love you. Okay, bye.
