Jenna Harding (00:00)
My name's Jenna, I've been in marketing for eight years. I have a very successful online program where I teach service-based business owners how to get clients from Instagram and run their accounts in 15 minutes a day.

sold mini courses, I've sold services for many years, I've done all the things, made a lot of money, and

here are my top five Instagram marketing tips in under 10 minutes.

Don't write captions on your phone. Write your captions on your computer. Write them in a Google Doc.

These are going to run the gamut. not just going to stay in how to get engagement or how to get customers. We're going to go through all different things, including like project management topics. And that's my first one. So my first one is for your housekeeping, your organization around creating content. Do not write captions on your phone with your sticky little thumbs. Write them on the computer. Put your captions into a Google Doc so that you can repurpose them later. You can draw from them later. You can copy and paste them into your scheduling platform. You can copy and paste

them

onto your Canva graphics. You're not going to accidentally leave the screen or get a phone call and lose all your work. It's going to be way easier to repurpose and pull from in the future and you're going to be faster because you're using 10 fingers instead of just two thumbs.

The easiest way to get a lot of views right now on Instagram is to post B-Roll Reels, meaning you have a clip that's like five seconds long of you doing something mundane and then there's music underneath it, but what people miss here is the rollout of the text. You don't want all the text to be on the screen at the same time. You want it to roll out in such a way that you retain the viewer. So the first sentence, then the second sentence, then some sort of a reveal. happens is your viewer watches more

of the video because you're pulling us along on the journey and Instagram highly cares about your viewer retention. Viewer retention, aka how long, like what percentage of the video are people watching or are they watching it all the way through? So when you lay out your text, first sentence, then second sentence, then the viewer reads those sentences as they roll out on the screen.

you now have a high watch time, which means the algorithm shows your post to more people. Better yet, if you can roll out your text and then send people down to the caption to read something. Some people think that this is slimy. I think it's only slimy if the post doesn't also deliver something. here's what I always say. I always say it's only clickbait if you don't deliver. So if you don't actually deliver anything in the post, then people are gonna get a little bit of.

irritated but if there is value on the screen and then more value down in the caption, then if people are mad about that then that's a them problem because you're already giving them twice the amount of goodies.

But the reason that you then get more views on that video when people go down to the caption is because they click see more or read more, which then counts as engagement. And the algorithm sees people clicking your post to read the caption. The algorithm can see that people are hovering over your post for a long time, more than just the five seconds it took them to watch the video. The video might autoplay once or twice, which means now you got extra views. So a couple teeny tiny optimization habits and you're like,

10xing your Reel's views and reach.

marketing psychology, NLP, copywriting, all of these people know.

that the words you choose will compel people to do something. And just by adding in a couple words or taking out a couple words of the words that you write will make your audience more or less likely to take action. So let me give you a sentence to remember. This is something I tell my clients inside Magic Marketing Machine when it comes to writing copy, that being captions or emails or product descriptions or sales pages or anything. That's just great. Well, that's just great. You can go ahead, look at all the copies

you've written and take out all of those words. That is almost always redundant, great, there's always a better word you can choose than great. Great people skim by but if you swap out great for excellent or money-making or like literally any word is better than great and more specific and

for just, mean, often people, especially women, will down sell what you're talking about, feel uncomfortable going, rah rah, buy my thing, I'm great. And then that comes through in your writing and you're trying to be modest and you're trying to be humble and not look like you're full of yourself. But what's really happening is the words that you're then choosing to talk about the thing that you're selling that people are reading.

the words you're choosing are no longer compelling because the reader isn't hyped up because you picked words that downplay how amazing what it is that you offer. So one way that people do this a lot is using the word just. I can tell you right now, if you put just into your copy,

You are downplaying what it is that you do and you need to hype yourself up. You need to be your own wingwoman. You need to be your own hype man. You need to be your own cheerleader. You need to hype yourself up and you need to write as if the person reading it actually does want to work with you. Your job isn't to convince them. Your job is to like get them excited into making a purchase. Think of it that way.

write your captions in a computer, on your phone. Eliminate the words, that's just great, from your writing vocabulary.

B-roll reels are the easiest way to get views right now.

Ooh, I'm gonna give you a mindset one. So one of the best mindset shifts that I've ever made, I've talked about it on this podcast before, but it's, stopped thinking about how I was gonna make the next $100 and started thinking about how I was gonna make the next $10,000.

I was coming from a life of being like a bartender and an actor.

And in that world, if you can pick up a shift and make $100, that's awesome. if you can pick up a gig singing in a bar and make $100, like that's amazing, but it's not sustainable. And making $100 at a time is a really hard way to get to, you know, $100,000 a year or what have you.

So when you change your mindset to how can I make the next $10,000, not only is it now exciting and you are now setting your sights way higher, but you're also actually gonna start a more sustainable business models and offers that can get you there faster. We all have to start at $100. That's where all of us start. But if you can start thinking about how you're gonna make your next 10K, I swear your brain's gonna rewire. It's gonna hit different.

All right, for my last one, I'm gonna give you a tip about going on camera and talking on camera. Okay, so what you're gonna do is you're gonna make eye contact with the camera. Do not look at yourself, just look at the camera. You're gonna stand, you're gonna jump on the spot or wiggle around a bit, kinda get your heart going. If you really need to sit, like if you're totally uncomfortable standing, sit on the edge of your seat and I want you to talk to the camera as if you're on stage or.

if that's way too freaky in your brain, as if you're speaking to someone who is a little bit across the room. I think what a lot of people do is they get really small on camera because they are trying to create the intimate relationship with the camera and you know, that triggers like the parasocial relationship and all of this and maybe you admire people where it feels like they're in their living room talking to you so then you go small on camera instead of going bigger, but most people...

are so nervous on camera that what you actually need to do is go bigger. People always ask me what microphone I use on Instagram. I'm like, I don't use a microphone. I literally just speak up, have a little bit of energy in my body, but you still feel connected to me because I'm making eye contact with the camera and because I'm not.

polished and the more polished you get, the less like natural it's gonna feel. So instead, speak up, speak like you're speaking to someone across the room, get a little bit of energy in your body and make eye contact with the camera and it's probably gonna completely transform how you show up on the screen. Even if you feel like you're being really big in real life, I bet that it's gonna show up better when you're actually on camera. I love coaching people from the sidelines. sometimes at retreats and stuff, I get to do that, like stand beside them.

while they're standing in front of a ring light talking to the camera. It's like my favorite thing to coach through that. I should maybe record some of that and like, I don't know, show you. Anyway, I hope that you were overwhelmed by how powerful these tips were.

If you want to get clients from Instagram and you're not really sure where to start, maybe you don't feel comfortable selling yourself. Instagram feels like a chore right now. It takes so long. Every time you make a pitch, you get crickets and you're worried that it annoyed the friends and family who follow you. Then let me tell you, Magic Marketing Machine is perfect for you. Here's how the program works. You hop in and you follow our proven process as the beginning few steps. So that includes getting more eyeballs on you and

showing you how to optimize your posts and you even get feedback on your content. Every day of the week you can request feedback on your posts before you post them online. So by the time you're pressing publish on something you feel super comfortable and confident in it.

and our messaging strategy makes it so that when you are pitching people and even when you are growing, you are using evidence based language in that content. So we know what you're posting is going to resonate with your ideal client.

so we work on the stuff like getting you more views and engagement and followers because those are going to be your leads. But then we really work on converting those people into customers. and after you've done the main proven process of the program, then there's every resource you could possibly need. So if you want to edit faster, if you want to follow a content strategy, so you know exactly what to post every day.

If you want to become a better copywriter, there's resources for all of this, which is why you get access to the program and all that feedback I mentioned for an entire year. I know what you're thinking. That's probably the most expensive program in the world. It's not. I modeled this after taking multiple high ticket programs and built it in such a way that we can deliver this to lots of people for a really reasonable investment.

So if that sounds like it's something that would serve your business clients coming in this year you want to stop guessing what to post on Instagram and start posting language and posts that are designed to take off and designed to resonate deeply with your ideal customer so that by the time you jump on a sales call with them, like the heavy lifting is done. They already are obsessed with you. They already love you. That's the goal.

then go ahead and look at the information below this episode. Start with the free training. So there's a free training called how to get clients from Instagram without wasting hours glued to your phone. I would start there because you're going to have a lot more takeaways and you're going to hear more about what's inside the program and how you can join us. All right.

don't let the learn-ins in this episode and trying to make your next post perfect stop you from posting, all right? Posting something is always better than not posting anything. Go make something, challenge yourself to post something, put it up online today. It doesn't need to be perfect. Once you get into the program, every time you post, you're gonna get a little bit better, a little bit better, a little bit better, and sometimes a lot better overnight.

Alright, I'm really excited for you.

If you have any questions, don't sleep on the comment section on Spotify, drop your questions and I will respond and answer them. And meantime, I'll see you in the next episode.
