Andrea is honoured to have the privilege of coming to another part of Turtle Island, in Victoria, BC, where she received her Master of Arts in International and Intercultural Communication from Royal Roads University. She traveled abroad, made cultural mistakes and learned that when listening is combined with curiosity, incredible relationships can be made. She worked with newcomers, refugees and immigrants, for over 10 years and considers everyone she meets a gift to our global family. She is the Proprietor of Janklin, a communications consulting firm in Victoria, BC enabling businesses to see the strength of their workforce through communication strategies, providing space for cultural change and elevating the perspectives employees can offer. She is thankful for this opportunity to normalize conversations, expand perspectives and share stories with her dear friend Hostion Ho.

Born and raised in China, and a Canadian resident since 2014, Hostion is unapologetically Asian and Queer. After obtaining his Master of Arts in Intercultural and International Communication from Royal Roads University in 2017, he was actively building safe spaces for queer people of color through different community organisations and programs. Now, as one of the owners of Ricecake Events, a queer Asian event organisation that has given a platform to over 100 different queer Asian artists from DJs, to dancers and drag performers, Hostion is excited to continue creating these safe spaces for the community.
