64. Endometriosis Awareness: What Every Woman Needs to Know
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
March is Endometriosis Awareness Month, and this is a topic that’s incredibly important to us as pelvic health therapists!
Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women worldwide, yet the average time to diagnosis is still 7–10 years. That delay often leaves women feeling dismissed, confused, and questioning their own experiences when painful symptoms are brushed off as “normal.”
In reality, endometriosis is far more complex than many people realize, and it deserves MUCH more awareness and support!
Endometriosis care works best when it’s multidisciplinary and whole-body focused. A supportive care team (including pelvic health therapists like ourselves), can help address underlying inflammation and chronic pain patterns.
If you’ve ever wondered whether painful periods are normal, what endometriosis symptoms look like, or how endometriosis is diagnosed and treated, we hope this episode brought you value and insight as you advocate for your health!
Episode Recap:
- Key endometriosis stats + how long the typical diagnosis takes
- Why endometriosis is more than a reproductive condition + can affect many areas of the body
- Why symptoms go far beyond painful periods
- Understanding that pain that disrupts your life is NOT normal
- Why disease stage doesn’t equal symptom severity.
- Reasons why endometriosis diagnosis is often delayed
- Why specialized surgery is the gold standard
- How pelvic health PT and OT can help manage symptoms
- Why endometriosis care NEEDS to be multidisciplinary
- Continuing to advocate for your health & seek providers who will support you
