A Soulful Mom's Wisdom
Motherhood is beautiful. It’s also heavy. And nobody talks about that enough.
A Soulful Mom’s Wisdom is the space where Black moms can put the weight down... just for a moment and remember who they are.
Every week, your host and wellness guide Africa O. sits with you over coffee, over quotes and over honest conversation to remind you: you are doing the best you can with what you’ve been given.
This isn’t about being a perfect mom. It’s about being a whole woman.

Welcome back to A Soulful Mom's Wisdom! I am your host and wellness coach, Africa O. and on today’s episode we are expanding what we’ve discussed over the past few episodes. Today, we are going to find where our passion meets our purpose!
Episode 5 — Passion Meets Purpose: Making an Impact in Others’ Lives
In this episode of A Soulful Mom’s Wisdom, we continue building on the monthly theme of impassioned, now bringing the conversation into a more applied space: what happens when passion and purpose intersect in how you show up for others.
This is where internal clarity begins to extend outward. Not just what excites you or gives your life meaning, but how that energy influences your relationships, your environment, and the people you allow access to your next level of growth.
The core invitation in this episode is evaluation. I encourage you to take an honest look at the relationships, habits, and activities that occupy your time. Do they reinforce your growth, your mindset, and your well-being? Or do they drain your energy and reinforce patterns you’re ready to outgrow?
This is not about perfection or cutting people off impulsively. It’s about awareness—recognizing that every connection carries an energetic cost or contribution. And over time, those influences shape your trajectory more than we often realize.
A central theme in this discussion is the reality that growth requires discernment. As you evolve, your environment often has to evolve with you. Not everyone is meant to transition into your next chapter, and that truth can be both liberating and uncomfortable.
I also share reflections from my own lived experience, moments where relationships and environments required reevaluation in order to protect clarity, peace, and forward movement. These moments are rarely easy, but they are often necessary for expansion.
We anchor the episode with a quote from Tracy Collins that reinforces the idea of progression and alignment, even when it involves letting go of what no longer fits. The message is not loss-focused, but growth-focused: making space for what aligns with who you are becoming.
Ultimately, this episode is about impact. Not only the impact you make in others’ lives, but the impact your environment has on you and your responsibility to curate it intentionally.
A question to carry forward:
“What in your current environment supports your next level—and what quietly pulls you away from it?”
Theme: Impassioned
Quote:
“Sometimes you have to outgrow people in order to grow into yourself.” — Tracy Collins
