I'm your host, steph, and I'm joined today with Amanda from Riadh Reiki. Amanda came on the last episode and we didn't get through half of the things we wanted to speak about, so she is back. Welcome, amanda.

Amanda:

Hi, I'm so pleased to be back. Thanks for having me, Steph, it was lovely.

Steph:

I'm so happy to have you here again. So for those listening who may not have heard the last episode yet, can you please tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?

Amanda:

eah, I'm a I call myself a medium reiki psychic healer which and I do tarot cards and angel card readings

Steph:

nd what about your background?

Steph:

ow did you get into it?

Amanda:

o that's interesting. So I was working at Stepping Hill at the time and I was quite stressed and one of my good friends, who obviously I've trained with and has now kind of made me a Reiki teacher, healer um, said come along and have some healing. And I was what do you mean healing? And so I went along quite skeptical, actually thinking this is not going to work. Not that I blocked myself, but I went along, got on the bed, got off the bed after the healing and I had no stress, my head was clear and I was just blown away with how I've just been lifted of all the stress and strains of my body. And that was just my way then of going right. I need to learn how to do this

Steph:

nd that's how your journey began

Amanda:

nd that's how my journey began.

Steph:

So I know from knowing you as a friend that you have previous experience in teaching

Amanda:

eah, so special needs has always been my, my niche or my background.

Amanda:

I've always loved to sort of do that. So from the child development unit at Stepping Hill to, you know, working at schools, in in in different areas, it's always been special needs which I love. And you're dancing. I'm dancing belly dancing for many years. So I've always done something alongside something stressful and a hobby's then turned into kind of a job or something that I've done really well from.

Steph:

Okay, so from making your own business with Riadh Reiki, if somebody wants to come and see you for a reading or a healing, can you just explain what will happen? What would they expect if they came and see you for the first time?

Amanda:

So you can obviously go on my website and book in there and email or phone me. You might request or look at the website and say you know I want to come for a healing, or I might want to come for a reading, or some people might want to come for a reading as in tarot reading and a healing. So it's up to you what you want to choose. You can, you know, mix and match and sometimes when you do come, or before you come, or do like a meditation, and sometimes your guides will come through and say you know they've asked for a healing, but actually it's a reading that they need. And so when you come to the door, I go oh, by the way, most of the clients that have got used to me now my regulars go okay, what, what, what is it I need today? What that's me? Yeah, that's took out your hands, I'm gonna give it you, which is wonderful because they know what you need they're there for you, they love you.

Steph:

So when you got into reiki, how did that come about for you?

Amanda:

gain with the reiki. It was just this phenomenal thing that you know it's, it's an ancient art, it's this japanese. It was a monk who wanted to give healing to, you know, people who weren't of money in class and and didn't have access to healing, and he went along and learned these, these, these kind of ways to get into the frequencies of healing the body and and giving it to people who just would have died or passed away or not been able to live. But you could heal them with this special Reiki healing that would attune you and change the way your body would then react and take all or anything that was not good for you out.

Steph:

So I looked up Reiki before today's conversation and Google says it's channeling energy and encouraging its movement through the body to help create a healthier environment within the body and mind.

Amanda:

So when I'm healing I can feel it coming out into my hands, doesn't necessarily stay in there or my body or anything, but it's being channeled out and pushed somewhere else. As I said to you, I'm just the vessel. You know I'm not liking not liking myself to healing you as such. It's your guides and some forces and the frequencies that are healing you. I'm just a vessel.

Steph:

So do you use crystals?

Amanda:

I can do crystals, crystal healing as well. So those crystals might be a quartz crystal healing, a pink one. It would be ear, nose and throat. I can use a super eight stone that's got all kinds of crystals within eight stones, eight crystals. That will help and you can hold those in different parts of the body or hold them in your hands and they get really hot. The crystals quartz crystals will reset you like a clock. They're in during, actually in clocks. So you know you kind of anything that needs to be associated with, um, different things in the body. You can use a crystal for it.

Steph:

And what about chakras? Can you talk to us about chakras?

Amanda:

Yeah, so opening up all the chakras. I tend to do it on myself as well. So you know you open up the head chakra, the third eye sometimes I don't open the third eye because it can give a headache and your throat chakra, your heart chakra, higher heart chakras, your solar plexus and you know, grounding chakras and just basically just to ground you. Sometimes I can be very up in the air through doing lots of different healings or connecting to the mediumship, so I'm not as connected to the earth as I should be. So I'll then go back in and connect myself to the earth and feel grounded.

Steph:

How important is it with regards to grounding? Because I know when I go to the beach and I will take my shoes off and I'll just walk on the sand and I feel amazing after doing that. So I know some people prefer just sitting in the garden on the grass, but how important is grounding in daily life?

Amanda:

ecause we wear plastic shoes, trainers, boots. You know, sometimes we're forgetting to reconnect. That's how we were born with no shoes. That's how we would have walked around earlier on with no shoes. So, yeah, our body is really connected to the earth and so we do need to really connected to the earth and so we do need to go back to that. You know, when you go on holiday, how do you feel when your feet are in the ocean amazing. So, yeah, it's going back to that, remembering that, even if you're just, you know, taking your shoes off in the house, or just when you sat down and take your shoes off, just remember to just connect so with your reiki.

Steph:

I know that you are a qualified Reiki teacher and that you do attunements. I'm sorry if this isn't the right vocabulary for this, but I know you've done a lot of qualifications in it and now you also teach. So can we just dive into that a little bit?

Amanda:

So obviously I did my first to becoming a Reiki master teacher, healer now as well, so I can attune you to all chakras and all the uh, the reiki kind of reiki one, reiki two, reiki, three, and then to become a reiki master teacher nd how does it change through the? a, so your first attunement, you you're given one um attunement, basically with a symbol, and then the reiki two. You're given one um attunement, basically with symbol, and then the reiki two. You're given two symbols, and it goes on until you're given all your symbols. When we first attune, you are given all your symbols, but you just work with the one symbol right.

Steph:

ea it's important to have a reiki teacher in person, because I know that there are online courses for me yeah,

Amanda:

and each to their own. You know, everybody kind of teaches and learns very differently yeah

Steph:

I feel that I would learn, because I want to do my Reiki one with you and I know we've been talking about it, but I know I would prefer to have somebody that I can go to rather than doing it online.

Amanda:

Yeah, I mean it's a responsibility. You know you might have questions, you might want to have access to things. You know. Once you're attuned with me, you would come and do weekly sessions with me and I would then assess you, I would teach you then I wouldn't just let you go out there on your own. So if you do want to come and have an attunement, and I might have a little bit of a group going as well so that you can share experiences and learn together. It's just safety in there and a nice group of like-minded people to come to as well. And you know I would mind a little bit of healing from you as well, which would be nice.

Steph:

How long does it take then? If someone's thinking yeah, I like the sound of that, s it personalised?

Amanda:

It is. It's personalised. Again, you, you know, some people are more visual. There is a manual that I would go with. I would read it to you, would go through it, I would see that you're doing the signs right and obviously I'm attuning you first of all. And then you would go away and practice that so you can ra your animals, you can rake your flowers, you can rake your water, your food, and then practice on yourself and loved ones as well. That's what I did. I went away and just engrossed myself with and did it every day. So you've got to show me that you're actively sort of wanting to progress and and learning as well okay.

Steph:

So I'm going to say at the end of the episode I'm going to put all your contact details in the show notes, but people can contact you through your website, email and mobile.

Amanda:

nd be prepared to learn and be prepared to put the work in, because that's what you're going to have to do amazing.

Steph:

So, with the healing, I know can we talk a bit more about distance healing, because I know we touched on it in the last episode but we didn't really go into detail, because you've done this for animals as well, haven't you? o yeah.

Amanda:

So Yrace horses, you know they're. They're obviously horses that have worked really hard. Um, some of them have, you know, have been whipped, which to get them faster and so. So the back hind legs of some of the horses were a bit sore that I I was healing with um, and also the head as well. But horses as well will look you up and down.

Amanda:

You know you have to kind of go with a hi, I'm here to heal it. And they will look at you right in your soul and go why are you here? And you do that connection of going it's okay, I'm not here as a threat or I'm here to help, you know, heal you. And they will be skeptical horses, they really will. They'll be like, right, okay, what have you got? And then you show them and they start to feel this sense of you know there's something happening here, because obviously horses have got more sense than what we do and they can sense more than what we do. So when I was doing that, there was a lady sort of watching me from behind and filming this, and then I've got my eyes closed and this orb apparently came out, which I didn't see until I saw it later on the phone. This orb came out of literally the ground. See, until I saw it later on on the um on the phone, this orb came out of the literally the ground and stra and went across the body overhead and out and what.

Steph:

What other animals have you reaten?

Amanda:

ogs cats and chicks at school.

Steph:

Really

Amanda:

I was callin to go. There's some chicks not feeling well, can you come and do it? I was like, oh my god, there's some chicks not feeling well, can you come and do it? And I was like, oh my God, what's happening? But I went along and did it and the next day it was fine. Wow, so that got my name around school.

Steph:

I was not expecting you to say chicks.

Amanda:

I wasn't either I was like, okay, I'll give it a go.

Steph:

But, like you said, animals are so receptive. I mean, I had a dog called Socks and she was just, she was just the best. I absolutely loved her amily, yeah, and she was such a good judge of character and I think I just it blew me away, absolutely blew me away, because sometimes she was a bit of a nervous dog, like she didn't really like people coming around. But I know a couple of my friends like I think of two, two were coming to my mind and I was giving them a warning, like you know, she's going to bark at you, you know, and they walked in. She just sat in front of them and let them pet her and I was like what on earth? What's happening? But I loved that, I loved seeing that and I thought, do you know what? That was a really good character check.

Amanda:

Of course you knew, yeah. I've had German Shepherds when I was being brought up and, like I said, someone would literally sit by my side and watch them and go I don't like your energy and I don't like you. So you just never know, do you? And I was like, well, yeah, I'm not quite sure about themselves, but now I've seen it that a dog's picking up on it. You're right, they have got so many you know receptors that we don't even know about yeah and they are very attuned to image.

Steph:

I love them. Yeah, so in terms of angel and tarot card readings, what about that? Like if someone hasn't had them before, how would you explain what they consist of?

Amanda:

Um, we talked about this before, didn't we about kind of saying about actually, tarot is a more gentler reading than an angel card, because angel cards and angels say you're doing something wrong, stop doing it. They kind of really tell you off angels. They'll tell you how it is. But people are really drawn to angel card rings. That's fine. But be aware that they really tell you off angels. They'll tell you how it is. But people are really drawn to angel carvings. That's fine.

Amanda:

But be aware that they will tell you if you're doing wrong, if you're the wrong person doing something in work or somebody's doing something to you. So it just affirms what you might be feeling or thinking. Tarot cards is kind of past, present and future and that's a really nice reading to have. It kind of says you're going to be okay, you've come a long way, you've worked really hard. You know your life might not have started off great, or it has started off great, but it's got a little bit harder, but it will become easier. So it's a visual kind of map of your life or a future map for you to go eEverything's okay and I can breathe yeah,

Steph:

I find tarot really interesting ople love.

Amanda:

Once you get a tarot reading, you then become hooked. I'm doing quite a lot of ladies parties or events where you know this is being brought into it and they can, you know, have a little bit of an evening with this as well yeah. o your group readings is that group readings.

Steph:

So you have I know you've done corporate events as well.

Amanda:

, eah, so I've done like 16 people in one night and that's been more of a 15 20 minute read. So you know, you pull your tarot out and then your guides will come in and give you bits of messages as well. So is that, or there is the one-to-ones, yeah, or small groups.

Steph:

I find with tarot what I find interesting is when you say what's coming up and you know it's like oh, I never saw that coming. Yeah, I'll keep an eye out, see if that comes to fruition.

Amanda:

They always want the highest, most loving, most caring affirmations and life for you. We're the ones who put limits on ourselves. We're the ones that say whether we deserve it, whether we don't, whether you know we don't think we're good enough, and they go. es, you do. All you need to do is say, you know, just for today, or can you bring in, or can you, or can I have some help, or you know, I appreciate and I'm so thankful.

Steph:

nd with the group reading I imagine that's quite a lot of energy that that takes. So how do you protect your own energy?

Amanda:

So you call in your guides and you know you say to them you know to bring in the highest of goddest love of all and to bring in protection. So you know nobody's going to go around not wishing well. But you know we can have energies where we just don't like people and it's just kind of a way of being in general. So you know you do go out and about and you think I don't like their energy or I don't like that person, but sometimes it's just they're not aware of how they're dealing with stuff or they could be in a good not in a good space, but they're not like that in general. Anyway, it could be a very nice person, They're just lost.

Steph:

eah, because if you're out and about, I know there's some people because I travel into Manchester quite a lot with uni and there's some people that you do get a feel for them. How do you, is there a way that you can protect your own energy when you're outside, like I know, as a medium, it's important for you to do that for the safety of yourself and the client always attracted to your light anyway, especially if you are a medium so ho how would giving advice to somebody listening now if they wanted to ground themselves and protect their own energy or cleanse it? Can you give them any tips on how to do that?

Amanda:

elenite is a good crystal to carry around. You can put it in your bra or in your pocket or, you know, in your purse and in your hands. Um obsidian is a good one as well, but that's also kind of a mirror to show you. You know how you're acting as well, so you know you can go and pick a crystal that you're attracted to, um sistering to sort of clear your energies and stuff so we can get stagnant and what have you?

Amanda:

You know, ask your guys to protect you when you go out in the day. They're the ones who listen to us and they're the ones who are, you know, with us from we're born up until the day we die, and they tend to change as we go through life as to what we need, because they're the ones that are around and more aware than what we're visually seeing how people are around us. They'll see something coming towards us before we will, and protect us. We know there's been so many things where I've had people come to me, where I've seen them, you know, leave their body, and they've been protected. So, you know, and people are around them and came to their aid. So they had their guides with themt.

Steph:

They've protected the and when you're saying guides, that's spirit, guides right your guides.

Amanda:

Uh, there can be a grandmother that's come to come around to help you. This time it could have been an aunt. Sometimes you know they're just like you say, they are just guides from the spirit world, or you know they've just come to help you. Since you were born they were. You've got either chosen them or they've chosen you because you know you've already kind of had your life slightly mapped out before you've come down to learn whatever you need to learn.

Steph:

So when I hear spirit guides and spirit animals, is there a difference?

Amanda:

There is. So your spirit guides are more kind of like the angel, like human slight aura or kind of their presence, obviously. And then you have your animal guides. They are, you know, can be a tiger for strength, or you know some kind of bird so that you can see from a different angle. It's one of those where you know, if I do do a healing and they show them, it's like, well, your guide this time is this, next time he might come. h He might not see you for a week or six months or a year, and you've got now got a phoenix or a dragon or, and if you read into them, it actually means something. So the meaning of the animal is is that they're now giving you strength. You've come through so much, or you need the strength because obviously you're going through quite a lot at the moment. So each animal is given like a totem to give you the help that you need. So they're there to support you with whatever you're going, always, and then they change. And they change to give you either harmony or you've got harmony in your life so interesting.

Steph:

e remember when I first saw you that are reading and you said to me that my spirit animal at the time was a stag. And I can't remember what it meant now, but I remember going on a walk with my partner in the Peak District not long after I'd seen you and we came to a path and there was like woods on the left, woods on the right and just in not like in the distance, but in front of us with space, was a stag in the path and it jumped out of the left woods, stopped, stared at us and went in the right and I was completely taken aback by that because I was like Amanda said to me about the stag spirit animal. Is that, why has this just happened? It was very,. I was just in awe. I've never seen one before or since.

Amanda:

So this is your guide saying about sometimes, about they're aware of your life, who you are, who you're with, where you're going, but also a stag will represent, you know, like strength, you know it's kind of a protector. It's somebody who is ancient, who is knowledgeable, who is a protector really. You know they've always been on totems and for kings and things like that. So, yeah, they're quite high up on the chain of animals.

Steph:

eah, I was blown away. So can I ask you what is the most difficult part of being a holistic therapist, a reiki healer and a psychic medium?

Amanda:

he most difficult part is always making sure that you're doing the right thing for people and worrying slightly am I doing the right thing for you? Because you just always want the highest good for your clients. So as a medium, I want to give really clear readings to make sure that I didn't leave anything else, that I remembered it. But that's normally during a healing as well. So I'm kind of going between oh well, I picked up on that, but then somebody came through. Or you know you need to do this because your throat chakra is not great, so have some pineapple juice. Or you know what are you eating. But then you know your grandfather came through and gave a message. So I'm always flicking between. You know your grandfather came through and gave a message, so I'm always flicking between you know, trying to remember it backwards to the moment it started the healing. They always come through most of the time smiling at healers. You know they're like, wow, so glad she's here. We can really give her some love and some healing. So that really kind of makes me happy. When I do that, I'm obsessed with healing and trance healing and giving readings because it just makes me really happy.

Amanda:

With the reiki healing, it's a different kind of energy again, the healing. So I'll feel the energy coming up through my hands, in my left hand. So I put my hand not necessarily on your body, just around you, around your head, or you know, one hand is sort of touching towards that your body and one hand is facing upwards to receive the power, and then the left hand takes the energy out. So if I've got my hands around your head, you can feel it being pulled out. Some people sense that, but I do sense it until it finishes. So it feels like thickness in my hand and then it gets lower and lower and lower and it kind of just dissipates. When I first start to do it kind of feels like thunder, it kind of goes and wraps around my hand and that's when I know it's new. New hurt. New energy is something that you know needs to be released.

Steph:

nd what's your favorite thing about what you do?

Amanda:

All of it is my favourite, in different ways. I never know who's going to come to the door, what I'm going to learn. Just some experiences have just been so phenomenal. You know, there was a lady who was Mexican and what I was shown was her coming from the Amazonian forest, her bloodline and her ancestors all the way down to Mexico down this stone road. And they were sat on the side of this stone road with hats on and pipes and these beautiful coloured blankets, and I was just blown away with her ancestry and how strong it was and how these women had forged their way through life.

Steph:

And what about? Can I ask if there's any myths in your area of expertise that you'd like to set straight?

Amanda:

Yeah, myths are, ou know, how do you see this? Well, I don't. I'm just shown this. I don't know how this happens, I've just tuned into it, I've done meditations and, as I said, it's kind of, it's like a movie, a running movie of pictures to show me. I didn't like hearing voices, so I shut that down. If you don't want to receive something or don't like it, you just ask them to stop and they will stop. So, as I said, I don't really hear voices as such anymore because I didn't really like that. So it's like a running movie for me in my head. It's like multicolored, it's like HD. So I would see the stag, I would see you know these, you know Amazonian women with you know, and it would show me who they are and sometimes it's recollection of something that I remember from either childhood or through my life, and it will show me that picture, a sign or a symbol to give me that, so I can pass it on to you as as as you're reading.

Steph:

I imagine that's quite difficult to try and remember everything, because I know when I've had a chance healing from from you, you just lie and just chill and then afterwards you discuss it, whereas a psychic mediumship, reading is that different, ye?

Amanda:

o when you so the difference between them, so there's the trance healing you come in and you kind of lie down, you go to sleep.

Steph:

I have fallen asleep before.

Amanda:

Yeah, when you fall asleep its great because I can start to heal you. So your body goes to sleep and then your spirit kind of comes awake and I can start to heal that then. So when we leave our body, that's your spirit, isn't it? So that's what you're trying to heal really.

Amanda:

And then with the psychic healing or psychic medium reading sorry, you're not lying down as such you know, come in conversation I'm having now, and then your guides will come in. So you're the lying down and having a medium reading, so they'll come through with the same messages. But you're having a healing at the same time. So just lay down and then the medium readings is where we can just sit across the table or on a chair and your guides will come through and give you a message. I can do that through holding things better connections sometimes a piece of jewellery, some gloves, a picture, right, and that sense of that person will come through with that. Sometimes, when I'm holding that and you've had that next to you or you're wearing that, I can sometimes pick up on you as well.

Steph:

So what would happen if somebody came to you with a necklace, for example, that someone I loved one of theirs had passed, but they wore it all the time, and now it's been passed on and they wear it all the time. Do you get both energies from that?

Amanda:

o just, you know an instance. What's happened recently is like I said, health-wise. I picked up on her and said, you know, you're going through menopause and this, this and this. You might need to go and get that checked out. She said, yeah, I've been ignoring that and I wasn't sure whether it was that. And then, you know, the person that they wanted me to read came through. So you know, interest again with the person that wanted to come through was a very difficult one, because she didn't feel in this life, when she was alive, good in herself either. So she was doing that in death as well. When she'd passed over, she didn't feel good enough, and so I had to reassure and say you know, you are loved, you deserve love. Here's light, come away from being not loved and cared for. You're loved.

Steph:

I think sometimes as well, people just need to hear that, don't they? Because the world is so fast paced as well. You just go, go through it in a whirlwind

Amanda:

hen you come to me, I hope and this is what I prayed for that you come in and feel love and kindness in a loving hug, in a loving way, and wrapped up with a healing, wrapped up with a reading, and that you go out feeling positive again.

Steph:

yeah, and your dad works with mind is that right?

Amanda:

es, so my father, who I absolutely adore, who adopted me, um, is an ex-fireman and you know, being an ex-fireman in the 70s and 80s was it was quite a lot of different stresses and obviously so, um, he's now running mind in Grange over sands and it's phoenix. I think I'm going to put it in the south lakeland phoenix.

Steph:

Yeah, I'll put it in the show notes. I'm gonna put it in the show notes.

Amanda:

So, hi, everybody, the the group, ackie and beth and hannah and and elliot and they're situated in the lake district in grange over sands at the future and that the information will be on the link and they do.

Steph:

Is it just an open walk in?

Amanda:

wal It's an open walk in, it's a coffee, it's. ou know, it's a chat, you know you can contact them through their details as well. Um, but yeah, it's, I sometimes go up there and and have a chat with them and a coffee and meet up with them as well vely.

Steph:

So it's every monday between half one and four?

Amanda:

ep half and bank holidays.

Steph:

This is s I think this is really important because there's so many people that are lonely and that don't know that many people they might have lost loved ones or they don't have as many friends. And I remember on Father's Day this year I went with my mum and brother to put flowers down for my dad and the church. I don't think I've told you this. Um, the church had changed hands. I think they had a new vicar in and they'd had a. They'd put a gazebo up in the back and it was literally. They gave out business card sized flyers that said you are loved, you are welcome, and all day they're outside in this gazebo with coffee, tea, biscuits, just to speak to people.

Amanda:

That's what it takes. We're very isolated as people now, community wise, we're not kind of linked in as such. So, yeah, just, you know, for somewhere to go or to chat to or, um, you know, I'm going to be doing groups. Actually, sorry to mention it as well. I need to mention the blue pit mill in rochdale because that's been, as I said, a bit of a spiritual home in rochdale where I've kind of learned and homed my you know abilities as well through a lady up there.

Amanda:

And so when I was up there doing readings recently and doing some work for dementia and alzheimer's holistic treatments with Trish and cynthia and they asked if we would go up, me and madeline to go and do some development groups, so that is about you know, working with you guys, doing some meditations to connect with them, learning how to read cards, and you know to connect with, you know something like a card or a piece of jewelery of a loved one and how to work that out. So if it's, if it's a man, I normally have men coming through on my left, if it's a woman, it's on my right, if it's animals below my knee and and so on. So I've worked the way I want to connect with spirit and work out who these people are. So it's a development group. It's a development group, so I'll start that in rochdale and it will be on a monday probably. I think half 12 on a monday is it.

Amanda:

You don't need any experience no, I mean the less experience the better, because then you're coming fresh. But if you do have experience, then why not hone even more skills and be with like-minded people?

Steph:

kay, so can I bring the conversation around to madeline now? I know madeline's your mentor yep and also a long-time friend, so could you just tell everyone how you met um? What's the best advice you've received?

Amanda:

o madeline I met through belly dancing and I was about 18 19, so I've known her a long time. Now I'm at 50s folks, so I've known her a long time. You know in and out and we've done stuff together. So, as I said to you, when she finished belly dancing and I was still teaching belly dancing classes and performing, I ended up belly dancing for, like Mike Tyson and Girls Aloud and it became a bit of a kind of a different life for me. Really I was very privileged. So when I said belly dancing, it went and it wasn't just belly dancing, it was a big thing that I did and performed and had a band behind me. So we were very lucky to done it in the heyday when there was parties and it'd be 800 people and we'd have meals and we'd be on stage with a live band. So it was a different experience of belly dancing. But then I got very stressed with it and I left Steppenhill obviously then when I was working out at the hospital. So it kind of transitioned into the belly dancing and I loved it.

Amanda:

So I met Madeleine and then she kind of came out the belly dancing and learned to do the holistic stuff and the medium stuff and reading tower on cards. And then I was saying to her I'm so stressed and tired and, you know, fatigued and my body's aching, and she said, come along and have some healing. And I was, what do you mean healing? And she said, you know, just come along to experience it, then you can understand it. You're just going to come down and sit on the bed and I'll just give you some healing, do Rreiki. And so I was like, okay.

Amanda:

So I went along, as I said to you, got off the bed and I was like, wow, this is amazing. I've not got any aches or pains o my head's clear. So that got me on to how do you do this? And she said, well, you have to, you know, to be attuned. I'm a Reiki master teacher now, so I did my first Reiki attunements and then I've, just about two years ago, became, a year ago, became a Reiki attunement and then I've, just about two years ago, a year ago, became a Reiki master teacher myself. So it's been a long journey but I loved it. I was hooked and it is just something that is with like-minded people who are quite sensitive and spiritual and want to do something that's very different than well-being.

Steph:

I think it's so important to be around like-minded people as well and to find your community because that's my intention with this podcast as well is for people that are into self-development and stuff that can help them in their life, whether that's cope or create a new habit, whatever it is.

Amanda:

That's what I'm looking for you know people might be thinking well, how do I know? This is for me? Yeah, you don't know. I didn't know until I went along. I've learned to say yes and not know. When I say yes, it leads me to so many fantastic things, so many roads have been open for me. I I literally my head's please don't put me in this situation but my mouth goes yes. And once I say yes and go with it, it leads me to things like this when you said would you come on a podcast, my initial reaction was like oh my gosh. And then it was like yes. So you know, if you don't say yes, you don't know. Try saying yes today and it will lead you to all kinds of wonderful things. Even if it's ot your comfort zone, even if you really don't want to go, it go. Okay, I'm going to give it a shot that's.

Steph:

That's really interesting, you know, because I've been, I've been battling with that recently, because I've I always was like, yeah, I'd like to do it, but not my own, or yeah, I'd like to have a go at that, but no.

Amanda:

It's funny because I'm one of those who, if you say I can do it, probably wouldn't do it. If you say I can't do it, I'll show you I can do it.

Steph:

Reverse psychology.

Amanda:

Rreverse psychology, and there's a bit of competitiveness in me to sort of do that. You said determination.

Steph:

Yeah, I think you are very determined.

Amanda:

I think that's been prem and being adopted and you know, being kind of a mixed race child within a very mixed, you know in a white area that I've had to always prove and show who I am. So it's made me determined in a way.

Steph:

Wwhereas I feel for me the opposite. I feel because I didn't have that many friends in school. I did have friends, but not many and like I was bullied and picked on and I had a really bad time at school and I feel that that impacted my confidence and I never quite recovered. So now, in my 30s, that's where I'm now going. Yeah, actually I am going to do this. Whether it's on my own or somebody does come with me, it doesn't matter. I'm just going to give it a go now but it's scary alway.

Amanda:

AThey always say you know, try something. It's this makes you feel scared or out of your comfort zone every day. Well, that's easy said, done. You know, that day you might not feel like you're doing it, and that's fine. But keep it for the future, when you are feeling at your best. If I feel like you're bravest, go and do it then.

Steph:

So, just for today just for today.

Amanda:

Yes, just for today. Well, you know, I'm going to go out and try this. Yeah, it's only today, living it today and not tomorrow or next week. I, you know, went to ind and was and I kind of you know, I'm Amanda and I suffer from anxiety and depression that was a big. I was shocked. That's the first time I ever mentioned it and said it in front of my father. I was sort of thinking, oh God, you know I don't want to let my father down. But my dad was actually really supportive and brave and kind and said that's fine, how you know. You know and's helped me through, you know, some tough times. So now I just live in it today, not always, but I do try. When I'm getting to that point where I'm being anxious or I'm feeling depressed, I go I'm just living today, so I'm not concentrating on anything else. They do say that depression is about the past and anxiousness is about the future. You can't control the future, so live in the today. And the past is already gone, so live in the today I find that you can get sucked into worrying, thinking about what's going to happen, future planning, when actually you don't know, you have no idea. Disasterizing, yeah yeah, catastrophiing all the time.

Amanda:

Yeah, and sometimes it's a very British way of being brought up and you know we're continually concerned about you know, have we done something wrong or have I been impolite? We're always reminded about manners, manners, manners, which is fine and I love that about it, but we're just consumed with who we are as people and not living as who we are as ritish people. We really do care about people and how and what and where. So, you know, hold on to that, but don't be, you know, not able to live because of it.

Steph:

Yeah, okay, can I ask you please about something that really interests me?

Amanda:

Go on, if I can answer it.

Steph:

So, signs from the afterlife. So I've lost a few people in my life.

Amanda:

Yeah, I know you have.

Steph:

I'm sure some of the listeners can resonate with that. What are signs from the afterlife? Where did they come from? Can we have some examples? Tell me everything.

Amanda:

There isn't anybody that somebody hasn't lost, whether that's an animal, a person you know, a relative, a child, a sibling. So when your loved comes through, as I said, it's like sitting in a draft I always look for is a window open? Is the air conditioning on? No, this is somebody that's coming. So yesterday, just for example, you know, this energy came and I've never read this before with you, I think, because you've always been at my house and I've come to visit you.

Amanda:

Yeah, then a different kind of energy that came in. So your grandfather came through and I my arm went numb and my veins were being pushed down from my wrist, which and then it came up to my head and over my head, which made me feel like I was having a stroke. That would be the feeling of a stroke really down that left hand side of my arm, and then my head went kind of dizzy. So you then said oh well, that would be, is it your grandfather?

Steph:

Yeah.

Amanda:

eah, never read your grandfather before. I always read your father and other people. Yeah, so that's my recognition of the afterlifes coming through.

Amanda:

So it's like a waft of energy. It's very cold energy, because they're taking out the energy out of the room so that you know the energy is quite warm, isn't it in our realm. So when they come in it feels a little bit cooler. Um, and then the essence of them. So it can either be a very sort of calm or very soft energy or it's a really strong energy. So we came to yesterday with a really strong energy. Now that strong energy is kind of it pushes against me slightly the energy. So it's either very, very wafted I think was that was that energy and that means it would have been really soft. So I wanted to really sort of pull into them to read their energy, whereas that energy was just full on and really strong as it gets older. They could have passed 80 years ago, 100 years ago, as we know, and that energy is really thick, really old energy, and that knocks me for six. So then I go oOkay, this is someone who's been passed for quite a while

Steph:

h wow, so you can tell if they're like an old soul

Amanda:

ou can tell, an old soul, a new soul, a soft soul, a child soul, an animal soul.

Amanda:

Cats wrap their tails around my leg, which, which I'm like. What was that? That was unnerving at first. I can feel it, you know, the tail of a cat wrapped around its tail. You know, just below my knee, dogs tend to lean against my leg and be round about my knee, unless they're quite big dogs. And then children, different stages, and some, you know they could be babies, but they've grown in age, they've come up in, you know, the spirit world. So you know you may have had a stillbirth, but I'm like well, there's a child here. You know we put an age, they don't. They kind of grow and learn, which is beautiful in itself as well. And then grandmothers, you know, as I said to you, males will come in on my left and females will come in on my right, and that includes children. So you know, a younger age would come through on my left but be lower down. So yeah, that's how I read it. People might read it very differently than what I do, right?

Steph:

So, in terms of signs, can you specifically ask and be specific about a sign?

Amanda:

o you know. I said to you yeah, this is about honing, this is about developing. This is why I did that, because people will go well, you know, I'm guessing these, but I don't know how to read. You know there's all these people behind me, so did you learn to sort of ask them to come through in a certain side, or you know one at a time? You know they do listen and they can. So it's about you deciphering and how to learn to do this.

Amanda:

And, as I said to you, you know, with spirit as well, they have got a lot to say for you. There's only so much that they can say, obviously, otherwise we'd be up to the other side with them because it's beautiful. But, as I said, you know there's certain rules, there's certain regulations, what I can and can't see as well. An example when I met my partner, smail's mother, he said she couldn't read. So when I'm being taken up, and then all of a sudden I see this lion move and pull up and then, like a horse with like a unicorn, pull up and move away, and then a bull pull up and move away, like they were protecting something was quite sacred, and they all moved and lifted.

Amanda:

And then like I'm kind of being, you know, taken up to a library and either side I'm looking beside the side of my eyes but I'm not allowed to sort of turn my head and I'm sort of looking left and right and then these books on chains, so I'm assuming this is like a library now and at the end is his mother and it's like an altar with like a book stand and there's a book on there and she's facing me and she's sort of saying you know, we go back to Babel times, which is Iraq, urkey, border. Babel is a very old time in a very old city. That is so, you know, ancient, that you know she's wanting to learn about it and she couldn't read. But now she is. But phenomenal what I'm being shown, and then I come away from it. But this again is a law and it's governing. I can only see so much, otherwise I'd be up there all the time.

Steph:

And when it comes to signs, can I list a few and see if you agree? So, these are the ones that I've heard. So feathers, obbins, dragonflies, ladybirds, um, butterflies, are any of them?

Amanda:

Aall the time. And you know, cardinals people say cardinals,

Steph:

es, I've heard of cardinals.

Amanda:

So everybody has their own little sign of symbol. You know, you might have said, you know, when you've had that beautiful time with the loved one, to say you know, give me a sign, come back as this, or we'll agree a sign, or, you know, show me a sign. You know, it's kind of a, a telephone line to your loved ones. We're connected by a wire and so, because we're still connected, that's why we feel so upset, that's why we feel the way we do, because we feel still connected to them. You are still connected to them. They've actually not left you, they've just gone to somewhere else and you'll be rejoining them and realigning with them at some point, which is beautiful.

Steph:

here was a poem that was read out at my dad's funeral and I can't remember the name of it now, but it's lovely and it said that they're just in the next room, they're just next door, just waiting and I'm learning.

Amanda:

Well, you know your dad was tinkering and he's making things. I didn't even know what your dad did. I did come across that he was such a big guy and gentle and kind and just all-consuming when he was here, so he would have lived life to the full when he was here. You know a very charismatic, very clever guy.

Steph:

eah, my dad was a scientist and he was six foot two so

Amanda:

nd that's how he came across and so you know, very soft tinkering, he said I'm tinkering, yeah, you know. So he was doing stuff on the other side. He hadn't stopped, he was always doing stuff here. So I believe what did he actually do.

Steph:

He created, he was in, uh, he did a phd in chemistry, all that. I don't know the proper words for it. I'd have to, I'd have to find it. Um, my mum would know, but he designed materials for, like, um, pilot helmets, and always doing something. I remember doing work experience with him when I was in school and I was in the lab and I was like, oh, don't touch anything in the hea.

Amanda:

That's how he he still is, and he's with Socks. That was your last reading, wasn't it? He was hiking with hm and he was sat on top of this mountain, this beautiful sunset, and he sat next to him.

Steph:

Yeah, I was devastated when Socks passed. I found coming to you during that time. I needed that, I needed the support, I needed the comfort. A message to say she's okay.

Amanda:

ctually it's with your father.

Steph:

Yeah, and I asked to be shown robins. I was like, if So, it's okay, will you show me robins? And I know people say, oh well, if you think of a green car, you're going to see loads of green cars. But I was seeing robins in the most peculiar places. Like we went to Chester. One would just we stopped at the benches to eat and it would land on the bench and I was like that's a robin. And then it happened again at alton towers and we went there. We went to crufts and obviously crufts is all about dogs, isn't it? And there was a stall selling loads of robin ornaments and I was thinking how peculiar robin's at at a dog show

Amanda:

But you've asked and you'll receive. If we don't ask, you don't receive. This is something that wed always do. I don't deserve it, I shouldn't have it, I don't. You know, we're very much, you know, in that capacity as people on this, on this realm, they will always go. We will give you more and above and beyond. That's what you deserve, and so we just do not accept it sometimes. So ask your guides just for today. Or ask your guides do enough of me. I'll do an affirmation at some point as well, which I think we'll do later on another podcast.

Amanda:

But as well as you know, you can write um a little note, put it under your pillow and sleep on it for 30 days, or keep it there forever, if you want to, and just say you know I'm so grateful the love gratitude and thanks of saying you know I want, can I have it's? Thank you so much for bringing in, you know so much love and joy and my friends and new clients, or my new job, my new house. You know it's thanking them to say you know, I'm so thankful, I love my home, but I'm so happy for my home that I'm going to move into next. I love my car, but I'm so thankful for the next car that's coming into my life. That's how you go about sort of saying thank you and the universe going oh, is that what you want? Okay, we'll bring you that.

Amanda:

But also, as well, be careful, what you ask the universe for being very specific. You know, otherwise they'll go okay, here, here, here, here, and you'll go oh, my god. So ask for specific things. You know, I want the Audi TT was blue. You know, ask for specific things. You know I want the udi tt was blue. You know, ask for specific things and they'll go okay or I want a new friendship to come into my life the most beautiful.

Amanda:

But again, be specific about having you know, loving, respectful, kind friends that you know, who will bring in the joy to my life for the highest good of all. I'm gonna give that one again always. I always get new clients because of it and and clients you know are very important and they come into my life and they really are friends. You know we have three course meals and we have a bit of chat, you know. So it's not just about you know, healing. For me it's about a friendship, it's about lovingly, kindness in your life.

Steph:

So, before we wrap up, can I ask what's one piece of advice that you would share with our listeners?

Amanda:

Say yes because it will bring in so many things into your life riends, friendships, work. Just if you don't say yes, you're not open to the universe either. Saying no closes you down, so you can block yourself. You can block yourself. Say yes, yes I'm going to, yes, I can, and then it opens up to everything wonderful.

Steph:

So reed reiki. How can people find you? How can they work with you? Would you just mind mentioning the development group again that you're doing?

Amanda:

eah, so I'm going to do a developmental group at the blue pit mill in rochdale, um. You can contact me through wwwreadreikicouk. All my details are on there as well my contact, my email. I'm not always great with email, so if I don't get straight back to you, contact me or text me. I'm on Instagram as well.

Steph:

I've got a readreiki

Amanda:

At radreiki, and you know any information is on there. So contact me direct or speak to me or come and see me

Steph:

rilliant and I'll link all of that in the show notes.

Steph:

And don't forget the outh lateland phoenixes in range over sound stands in the lake district. If you need a chat or pop in, it's at the community food share every monday between half one and four and I will link their website in the show notes as well.

Amanda:

Thank you so much.

Steph:

Thanks, amanda.

Steph:

Thank you, thanks for listening everyone, so you can follow me at instagram at ranquil topics, and please rate, review and subscribe to this podcast wherever you're listening from. I'll be back in two weeks with another episode. Bye, thank you.
