Stephanie Graham Season 1 Episode 31

Send us a text at Tranquil Topics

In this episode of Tranquil Topics, host Stephanie Graham welcomes back Corrina Morris of Guiding Stars Feng Shui, a modern-day Feng Shui consultant, to discuss how Feng Shui can help alleviate the stress of the Christmas season. Corrina explains the principles of Flying Star Feng Shui, the impact of holiday decorations on energy flow, and practical tips for creating a peaceful home environment during the festive period. The conversation covers everything from colour choices in decorations to managing clutter and preparing for guests, all while emphasising the importance of mindfulness and energy awareness.

December doesn’t have to feel like a pressure cooker. Corrina shares simple, modern ways to keep your home calm during the holidays—without redecorating or spending a fortune. We dig into why classic red can spark more arguments than joy, how too many spiky ornaments at the front door invite edgy energy inside, and why an artificial tree placed in the centre of your home might leave everyone feeling run down.

Corrina explains Flying Stars Feng Shui in plain English, mapping the home by true compass directions and linking areas to health, love, wealth, and career. You’ll hear practical ideas for the dining table that encourage warmth and kinder conversations, including rounded decor, grounding metallics, and supportive crystals like rose quartz, amethyst, citrine, and black tourmaline. We also tackle the silent holiday saboteur—clutter—and share quick strategies to keep the front door clear so good energy can flow into every room.

Hosting, gifting, and resetting your space gets easier with a few rituals: open back windows to release stale vibes, welcome fresh energy through the front door, and use music to break up heaviness fast. As we close out the season, Corrina offers a clear path to the Feng Shui new year in early February with goal-setting tips for each compass area and a rising phoenix symbol. Gentle, doable, and family-friendly, these steps help you protect your peace and design a December that finally feels like home.

Steph:

Hello, welcome back to Tranquil Topics. I'm your host, Steph, and today I'm joined by Corrina Morris, the founder of Guiding Stars Feng Shui. She's a mum of young children and a modern-day Feng Shui consultant, helping families all around the world. Corrina discovered the magic of Feng Shui and now teaches others how to bring peace, flow, and well-being into their homes and lives. She's been a guest on the podcast before on episode 21 and returns today to talk all about Christmas and how Feng Shui can help us. Corrina, welcome back to the podcast.

Corrina:

Thank you so much, Steph. Thank you for having me.

Steph:

Oh, thank you so much for being here. So, Christmas. Maybe we should start for the listeners who may not have heard your other episode. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?

Corrina:

Yeah, so I'm I'm a mum, as you say. Um, I live in Surrey. Um, and I simply just help as many people as I possibly can to bring in a kind of a sense of calm into their home. And believe me, having young children and a young dog in my house, I know how chaotic life in general can be. So if I can help others just by simple techniques, simple feng shui techniques, I should say, that anybody can implement, then you know, I'm happy if I can help other people.

Steph:

Brilliant. And you practice flying stars feng shui, right? So can you give us a little debrief on what is flying stars feng shui?

Corrina:

Yes, so with feng shui, there's about um probably over 120 different schools and practices of feng shui, all doing it in in a slightly different way. Some are completely different to others, um, and some maybe a little bit more similar. With flying stars, it's known to be the most accurate way of practicing. And so what we do, um, unlike some others, is we will look at compass directions of the home. So I will find your true compass directions and I'll I'll work and plan and map out your floor, um, your floor plans that way, and I can work out exactly where your north is, your south is, and and we work things out that way in a very accurate way. Whereas some Feng Shui consultants will say everybody's house and everybody's front door is their north, and they will map out the home that way. Whereas we're doing it um with the compass direction, so it's an exact. If I'm telling you that your north is your front door, for example, that is your career area, that is your life's path. I feel that if you haven't got the true north or those true um compass directions, I might not be giving you um the right information and telling you where to place things correctly. And I want things to be as accurate as they possibly can. And so um, just really briefly on that, what we do is we divide the home into nine areas. So I have a good look at your floor plans, and I will divide that into sort of almost nine squares or nine rectangles, um, and each one of those is your compass area, and every single compass area will um it will it will be a different meaning to you. So one area will be your your health, um, it can be your love and romance, it could represent family, um wealth, all different things, and that's what those compass directions mean.

Steph:

So you mapped my home, didn't you? You did a full analysis on um where we currently live. So I've been through the process of the consultation with you, the mapping of the home, the floor plans, um, the remedies. But we're here to talk about Christmas um with Feng Shui and how it can help because Christmas can be a very, very stressful time of year. Um, why might the festive season disrupt the energy in the home?

Corrina:

Well, I think it can because there's different people around you, you've got lots of people's, all different people's energies all in one home, whether that be your hosting and it's all in your home, or you're visiting others and you're in somebody else's home, and it could be just lots of different people's energies all around you, and we absorb that. So it's not to say that all of those people are going to be negative, but you just you can sometimes feel quite drained from being around lots of other people, and it's not only that, it can be added pressures of money and how much things can cost around this time of year. It could be um, you know, just a stress of oh my goodness, I've got to uh I've got to invite aunts so and so around, and I don't really like them, but I feel obliged and I have to. So that's an added stress too, um, or even just the pressures of hosting. You know, some people, me included, I've got parents that are separated, so you're thinking, well, I've got to go to them on one day and these on another day, and it's the pressures, and it starts to build. And let's face it, people are starting to talk about Christmas practically at the end of the summer holidays, thanks to the shops, you know, putting things in there. So we've got this constant reminder of Christmas is coming, and it's for some people, it is a massive pressure, and without you realizing it, those thoughts that you're putting out there starts to create this energy within your home, and so you're going to start to feel that around you.

Steph:

Oh, okay. So, with you mentioned about friends and family and like feeling an obligation to see certain people or even invite them into your home. And I've I mean, when I come home, I absolutely love it. It's like it's my sanctuary, it's my safe space. Same for Alan, like protect it at all costs, you know. You please don't feel obliged to you know spend time with people that just because it's Christmas, exactly. Right, we're gonna get thoroughly into this. So, can I start with the decorations, Corrina? Are there specific colours to use or avoid at Christmas?

Corrina:

Yeah, so generally speaking, and I don't want to sound like the Scrooge of Christmas, because that's the beauty of Flying Stars Feng Shui. We try to do this in a really modern day way, where we are quite lenient and we will work with as much as we possibly can, all right. But when it comes to colours, you want to try and avoid too much red. Now, obviously, this is a really big Christmas colour, red and green, and they're like your main Christmas colours. But what you might find because red is it's you know, it's that fire colour, so it brings that fire energy. Now, if you have too much fire energy within your home, that could cause tension, arguments, anxiety, even. Now, don't get me wrong, having some fire energy within the home is brilliant, but if you've got too much of it, then again you could find that those sorts of feelings might stir up. So, what I'm trying to say is don't necessarily not have the red. If you want to have some red within the home, maybe go for what you would normally do and then just see how the energy is. If you start to feel a tension or arguments start, you know, occurring, maybe just take some of those red baubles away or decorative flowers, whatever it is you've got, maybe just start to pull some of that back. Alternatively, if you don't want to use the reds or those really sort of bright fiery colours that could come under, you know, that deep bright pink, the same with the purple, they're kind of those fiery colours. Um, I personally have pastels, I love those kind of pastel colours anyway, so we've got all of that. Um, but that's just because that's what I like, not I haven't done it on a feng shui thing. Um, but what you could go for are metallics because they're really um neutralising of that negative energy. So you could just have some little small pops of that colour, you could have a few small pops of red here and there. But if, like I say, you start to feel that tension rising, then maybe just pull some of that away.

Steph:

Okay, so it's more like we're not telling people you know, go out and buy new decorations, but it's sort of have that awareness, isn't it, of the energy in the home and what you bring in. Absolutely, yeah.

Corrina:

Yeah, you don't want to have to tell people to go and completely redecorate and go and buy a whole brand new thing because it gets expensive. So, you know, that's why we work with what we've got. Um, you know, and with this type of feng shui, I would never tell anybody to re-go and redecorate their home. It's just to be aware of the colours that you've got around you and how we can balance it.

Steph:

Okay, so real tree or fake tree, and I'm not gonna tell you which one I have until after you've answered this.

Corrina:

It's fine. Generally speaking, we always say no to fake all throughout the year, not just for Christmas. So those fake or artificial plants, the fake tree, it gives off, and I know this sounds awful, but it does give off just a dead energy because it's not living, it's not a real living tree. Artificial plants aren't real plants that are giving growth. So, generally speaking, we do try to say no artificial plants, but it's Christmas and it's only a few weeks. So if you can't have a real tree, and look, I couldn't have a real tree, we had a puppy, um, you know, we had young children at the time that were pulling things off, and all the pine needles, that didn't work for us as a family either. And so I do have an artificial tree, but it's up there for a few weeks, and then it's all gone, it's all taken down. Um, but I do know somebody last year that did have an artificial tree, they put it in the center of the home because obviously worked for them in that particular area. They and and some people might go, look, this is just a coincidence, but they put it in the centre of the home, they all felt really, really unwell, they all had the flu, and it just kind of lingered. Now, the centre of the home represents your health, your well-being, and your mental health. So, for that particular family, they said no more fake and definitely not in the middle of their home, in the centre of their home. So, you know, work with it. Maybe if you want to have a fake tree, don't necessarily put it in the centre just in case because it's giving off that kind of dead energy.

Steph:

Wow, okay. Well, we we do have a fake tree. We have one, a white one that's covered in snow, and it whenever we get it out, there's just snow everywhere on the floor. But it looks lovely and it's very calming. Um so wreaths. I've never had a wreath on the front door. Would you mind just speaking about that since we're on the the subject of real and fake?

Corrina:

Yeah, well, the same applies. Um, in an ideal world, you know, the the real I mean, I'm no I am no florist, so I I really don't know how to describe, you know, the leafy things that go all around or the fern or whatever it is that they use. I mean, florists are going to be killing me now. Um, but in an ideal world, we want it to be kind of as real as we possibly can. Um, some people go and make them. I've got a friend actually that goes out foraging in the woods, and then they've got you know a wire thing that they twist it all around, and so it's as real, it's kind of as real as it possibly can be. But obviously, if it then starts dying off, because you know she has taken um you know some foliage, it's going to start to die off as soon as it starts dying. Get rid. We've also got to look out for spiky ornaments, anything that's spiky or edgy will literally give off that sharp, spiky, edgy energy. Now, if this is on your front door, that energy, what we generally say is all that good positive energy will come in through your front door. Now, if you're opening that front door and it's got spiky energy or fake plants or something that's literally dying, you've got that negative energy coming in through the front of your home and then and then literally going all around your home. So, in an ideal world, nothing that's too spiky and edgy. And again, if you're gonna have some colour, try not to have too much red.

Steph:

Okay, I've never had a wreath. I I know about um it's cool that your friend actually goes out in the forest to to gather stuff to make one, but I've heard about wreath making classes. Yes. Um I would quite like to give that a go. I just haven't got to the point where I've booked it. Um, so dining table. I know when people host it can be quite stressful. I mean, me personally, I find Christmas quite a I don't know how to a difficult, sort of lonely time of year, really. I sort of find because my dad passed away around Christmas, I find sometimes when I'm around loads of people that I just feel so lonely. And sometimes when you're around a dinner table and you you kind of notice, I don't mean to go all morbid, but who's not there anymore. So alternatively, you know, like you said earlier, there's sometimes um a feeling of I should invite this person, and so how can we navigate that with feng shui tips when it comes to like setting the dining room table for guests?

Corrina:

I think it it is a very difficult time, you know. Um I've also you know I've gone through traumas too. And for me, you know, getting to that Christmas point, although I'm you know I'm in a much better place now than what I was a good few years ago, it would always make me feel really, really sad at Christmas time. Um, and then I would be thinking, you know, New Year is coming up, and that means it's a whole other year that's gone by. And so, you know, for me, there was lots of things that would trigger me, and so it can be a really, really sensitive time for so many different people, and like you say, if that person is is missing, so it's really each to their own. I mean, some people will literally set a little place for that person as if they're there, and sort of just a little symbol to that person. Now that's that's extreme, you don't necessarily have to do that, and that's certainly not a feng shui practice, but that's just you know something nice that you could think about doing. Um, but when we're talking about the table in general, again, it's the same kind of things as I've said before with the tree and the wreath, nothing that's too spiky and edgy, you know, because some people decorate really beautifully all around the table. So just maybe use those more metallic colours because it's really grounding and it's really neutralising of any negative energy. You could even place, and it doesn't have to be on your table, it could just be um somewhere within your dining area or wherever it is that you're eating, um, some really lovely crystals. Now, whilst I am no crystal specialist, I am working with a lovely crystal lady, and I asked her yesterday what would she advise, and so she said to bring in more love and happiness around the table, um, she would recommend rose quartz, amethyst, and citrine for happiness because it's like that beautiful yellowy sunshine crystal, so that brings in the happiness, and she said as well, if you might feel that you're gonna have somebody that comes around that could put a bit of a negative spin on things, because there's always somebody that can bring the vibe down, or just say something that might be a bit inappropriate in a negative way, so you could then look at those really dark black um crystals, tourmaline, black, I think is it obsidian? I think that's how you might pronounce it. They literally suck and absorb all that negative energy away. So you obviously the nearer that those crystals are to you, you know, they're gonna be vibrating and putting out that energy around you, depending on obviously the size of your crystals. I mean, I've only got really tiny little crystals, so it only goes a certain radius, I think. Um, but they're nice things that you could be doing too.

Steph:

Okay, and how about clutter? Because I know we spoke about decluttering on episode 21. Um, but obviously, when it comes to Christmas, you have so much more stuff that comes into the house and packaging and all of that. It's a nightmare. So, first of all, how does clutter affect the energy flow?

Corrina:

It is a nightmare because what you want is for that good positive energy to literally just flow all around your house easily. Think about it if it's like got to get through these boxes and go over here. You know, there's always something within its way. Um, so it's then gonna make it harder to get around, slower to get around, it's then gonna cause this kind of stagnant energy. And so, as I say, those nine areas of your home represent a different um part of your life. And if that energy is stuck or it's not flowing correctly to all of those areas, then it could cause issues within the home. So it could cause tension, arguments, stress, anxiety, it could cause you money flow issues, health issues, relationship problems, all sorts of different things. It's not for me to be like putting the fear of God into you around Christmas and thinking, oh my goodness, we can't have any clutter around, because we all do, we all do, but it's just to be mindful. And what I get my kids to do is right, we're gonna have a massive declutter before Christmas. Look in your rooms and look, we are so extremely fortunate. We my children have far too much, but it's for them to then say, Okay, do you know what? Have I grown out of that dolly? Have I grown out of that Lego or those cars? Do I really need this? Could I rehome it? And it's the same for us too. Can we rehome something? Can it go to a charity shop? Is it broken and we need to get rid of it? Because if you've got something that's chipped or broken, then that's a really negative energy that's also within your home, and then it's not allowing things to flow. So once we've now made this space because we've had a good declutter, once we've got all these gifts or the kids have got loads of stuff coming in, yes, it's going to be in a big bag or in a big box, but a few days later, I've got that space within their rooms to go right, this can go here, that can go there, and things can get put away. So I don't want people to start panicking. Um, but just be mindful of where that is um being placed because if it's all stuck at your front door, because let's let's face it, look, for the last few years we go to my sisters, and it's amazing they host. I don't have to do anything. But when we come home, we've got a car load of stuff from various family members, and then it's all by the front door, and it's like, no, this can't stay by my front door. I have to get rid of it as soon as I possibly can. I don't mean get rid of it, I mean like place it where it needs to be gone, you know. Um, but it can't sit by that front door because, like I said to you previously, that front door, when it opens, it allows all that positive energy to come through. And we don't want to block it with tons and tons of bags and boxes and gifts. Um, yeah, so just be mindful of that.

Steph:

One thing that popped into my head when you were talking then was I have a friend, I'm sure she won't mind me um mentioning this actually, but I won't name her. But she told me that um one of her friends had given her a necklace, so it it was like um a known regift. She's like, I don't want this anymore. Do you want it? And she said that when she was wearing this necklace, she felt more um like she was saying harsher words, you know, she didn't have the patience that she normally had. And I said to her, Could it be the necklace that you've you've taken from somebody else? And she was like, Maybe like I've stopped wearing it and I felt more myself. So as well when it comes to gifts, um you know, and let's be honest, some people do re-gift, and also you receive gifts off people that maybe you you don't you don't um I don't know how to word this politely that you um would rather not, maybe, you know. Um but that's something that I'm quite aware of that, you know, if someone's giving you something and yes, it's lovely that they've made the effort to do that, but if that doesn't sit well with you know, sit well with yourself, you don't have to have it in your home, you don't have to have it out because it makes you feel a certain way. Does that make sense?

Corrina:

Yes, absolutely. You're you're so right. And and this isn't just for Christmas, this is um, you know, this is all year round, you know, you could be gifted something and and it's really difficult because sometimes depending on who has gifted you that particular present, you then feel obliged to either you know have it out if it's a decoration or or wear it. Um, and so it is quite tricky, but I think if it's not making you feel right, then I I really would get rid of it or I would definitely put it away. Now, I think maybe what you could do beforehand before you do that is you could just depending on, I suppose it depends what it is, if it's an object or an item, like say it's clothing or some jewellery or a decoration. If it so look, if it was clothing or something like that, and it was you like it, but it's it it might be making you feel strange for whatever reason, I would wash it, get all of that energy. You know, even when we're ordering clothes online or we've bought it in a shop, somebody might have tried it on before, it's still in transit from wherever it's come from, the factory, it's still got that energy. And they I know um somebody that sells crystals will will say this about their crystals too. It's being packaged, it's going in transit, and it's the energy from that person, and then it gets to you. Okay, so then that person recommends to cleanse those crystals before you start using it. So put the good intention into it, and I think it would be the same. So wash those clothes, get all that energy off. If it's an item, you know, a decoration or a piece of jewellery, maybe go round and sage. If you don't like the smell of sage because it is quite strong, or you know, you've got breathing problems, don't use it. Literally, just take a candle, a lit candle, and be obviously very careful, and just literally hold it all around so that you're burning off any of that negative energy that it could have absorbed. See how it goes, and then if it's still not right, then perhaps look into you know, re-rehoming it.

Steph:

Okay, fabulous, and we're not ungrateful here, it's no not at all. Sometimes this occurs, doesn't it? And it's a very awkward situation to be in.

Corrina:

Yeah.

Steph:

Um so, in terms of you know, we're having guests round, is there any feng shui tips you have or practices you have to set your home up for these people coming in and then also resetting the energy after they've gone?

Corrina:

Yep. So this is something that I would do on a daily basis, whether people are coming in or not, whether it's Christmas or not. Start your day by opening up your back door or your back windows, and just allow any of that stagnant or negative energy to go out the back door. Okay, and just leave it for a few minutes, and then close all those doors and windows and do the same with your front door and your front windows, because generally speaking, this is where all that positive energy comes in. And if you want to say it aloud or in your head, I'm welcoming in all this good positive energy, then say it if you want to, but just literally try to have that open, um, you know, as as frequently as you can. Then obviously, you're gonna have your guests come around, and then when they go home, you can just do it all over again. Alternatively, you can use the sage and you can go round and literally sage the whole area if it's if you felt a little bit of that tension. Um, or actually, I heard again the other day, and I was gonna say you can use music because the vibrations of music literally break up that stagnant energy. But I did hear somebody say the other day, and I think it's it's something on Spotify. Um what did she say it was? Did I tell you about it, Steph? I think it was energy. Is it energy clearing music or something? I mean, don't quote me on that, but maybe maybe Google it and see if there is something called energy clearing music. And I'm sure she said it was on Spotify, and you can literally just have that playing. I mean, I don't know what it sounds like because I haven't listened to it myself at the moment, but you can go around and you can go and do those things, and it will just literally try to clear things out for you.

Steph:

I did search for that after you told me about it, it was energy clearing cleansing, energy cleansing playlist. I think there was energy clearing playlist as well, but there's loads of different um frequencies, the Hertz on them, you know, it lists the numbers and says what they're for. Um I played because whenever something like this is meant to be like, oh, I've got to go and test it. Um there's there's tons on there, there's loads, and I guess it's just what resonates with you as well. Like obviously, people have different music tastes, so there'll be some that you you like go towards, and others that you're like, Oh, I'm not feeling that, but yeah, I love that.

Corrina:

Oh, absolutely. I think for us, because we're such a bit of a nutty household, you know, with the kids and the dog, and she she's a massive nutcase as well. But you know, for me, like I I love and have grown up loving Bon Jovi, you know, Guns N' Roses, that kind of music, you know, that you literally air guitar, you know, and I'll get the dog dancing with me. And I think if you've got that playing that makes you feel really good inside, and then everyone's having a bop about, you know, or You and Britney, then, then you don't need that energy clearing music as such. Just get the tunes on, a bit of Tina Turner for me, and I love it.

Steph:

Do you know? So just for a little insight there, the other night I text Corrina and I said, you know, I felt so restless. Um, is it the supermoon? We talked about that, weren't we? And I just felt so so restless. I was like, I'm in my comfies, I'm on the sofa, I should be able to just relax here. And I couldn't, I just couldn't do it. And Alan said to me, Well, why don't you put one of your Britney DVDs on and just bop along? You know, you won't be restless when you're doing that, and I did, and I had a fantastic evening.

Corrina:

It's it's a great energy, and then you're filling your whole house with that, so you know, put on the tunes that make you feel really, really good.

Steph:

Yeah, oh okay, so if somebody doesn't want to change how they decorate, and we've said before, you know, it can be a cost thing, or you know, they just love the decorations, which is wonderful. What's a small shift that they can make to be more energy aware when it comes to Christmas?

Corrina:

Well, I think, like you say, if if a lot of people have already got their decorations, um, I mean, an ideal situation would be swapping the fake for real, but we can't all do that, and we don't necessarily want to do that, so that's fine, but just be aware of that going forward within your home. Um, again, if you don't want to change the colour and you have already got, say, a lot of those fiery colours, maybe just alter the amount that you've got, just use those reds, but in like a pot of those colours. So maybe just pull away a little bit of that if you start to feel that energy rise or that you know, that tension rise, I should say, or or a bit of tension and that energy heightening. Um, and then just reducing any of that spiky decor that you've got. You know, if you've got anything that's really edgy or really spiky, maybe just try to pull away on some of that. Just have those nice soft round baubles instead of those really spiky ones. But I think that's really just a a recap on what we've said. So hopefully that helps.

Steph:

Yes, thank you. And what's your go-to feng shui tip then um for keeping your own home peaceful?

Corrina:

I think the the main thing that I do is is literally opening all my windows and doors. You know, that's the one thing that I will do every single day. And especially if you're if you're doing the cleaning, if you're if you're vacuuming, then you're stirring up all of that energy. So that's the one thing that I will always remember now. I'm always opening all the windows when I'm doing that, so it's clearing out all of that negative energy.

Steph:

I love that. I love opening all the windows, especially on a windy day when you can feel it just woosh through your house. I love it. And then Alan comes going from work and he's like, it's freezing in here. I'm like, yeah, but doesn't it feel great? Um okay, so the transition now from Christmas to New Year. Um, although you mentioned in the previous episode that there's a different Feng Shui New Year to our 31st of December. So if you wouldn't mind touching on that, but do you have any tips for transitioning from Christmas to the new year?

Corrina:

Um personally, well, when it comes to the decorations, do you mean as well? Yeah, everything. Yeah, everything. Well, for me, um, you know, as I know it sounds a bit like Scrooge, but as soon as Christmas is gone, you know, a few days later, I want those decorations gone. Um, I I just want everything clear and away. And I notice that feeling, and I think it's because it's a visual and I can just see so much clutter building up with the decorations. So for me, and and we don't even have loads, but that would be the first thing, you know, try not to hold on to all of those decorations for too long and that clutter for too long. I mean, I literally walked past that uh a house the other day, and we're we are recording early November, and somebody had all their decorations up the other day, so that's a long time to have all that clutter hanging around. So that would be the first thing. Now we we have um new energies come in um around the beginning of February. Uh yes, February. Sorry, I nearly said feng shui. That's on my brain. Um, the beginning of February, we that's kind of like the Feng Shui new year because that's when all the new energies will come in. So we'll have all these different shifts of energy, and that will be when I will get new clients coming in and they will want um a home analysis um so that we can place all the correct remedies in the right areas for that particular year so that it really thoroughly supports them throughout that next year.

Steph:

And how about um for goal setting for the the new year? Do you have any tips or tips for that?

Corrina:

Absolutely. So, what we can do is well, once you know um what the areas are in your home, and you don't have to come to me for this, you can literally um, and this is only going to be a rough guide for you, but if you was to take out your phone and find the compass app and hold your phone flat in your hand, um, ideally, no jewellery or any smartwatches when you're doing it because it can affect um, I think it's like the magnets with inside the compass. Um, and literally just find your north, find where your north is. I have got a free download on my website that explains what those compass areas mean. So if you want to head to the website and get that free download too, that will really help you to understand what those areas mean. And then you can go around and you can just place some written, either written affirmations. So, for example, if it was the north area that's your career and your life's path, you can write down those goals. What do you want for your career or your life's journey? What would you like to start happening? You can write all of that down, or if you work better as a visual, you can use photographs or pictures. Um they don't necessarily have to be on show if you don't want them to, but obviously, if you're if you're more visual, then it helps you. Um, what do you want from your career? What do you want for your wealth or for your love? Do you want a new partner? Have pictures of couples and things like that in those areas. Um, alternatively, what you can do is we print off a picture of a rising phoenix. So it's that phoenix bird rising from the ashes, and it's a really powerful symbol. We place it downstairs in the south area of the home. Mine is hidden behind a curtain, so nobody knows it's there, and you have all of your goals for that year, and you just place it um out of sight so nobody can see it, or if you want it on site and you want to be able to see that phoenix all the time, then go for it, have that out on show. There's no harm in it. Um, but I have one that's hidden um with all of my goals for that particular year, and then I have another one on my work diary too, so that that's it's just a picture and it's this visual for me.

Steph:

What is it about the flying phoenix specifically?

Corrina:

The rising phoenix. Oh, it's just yeah, it's this, it's it's this like beautiful, sort of fiery energy. It's like you know, it's like you're rising from those ashes. It's like, okay, what are we going to start that's new? You know, it's like, are you starting a new career? Are you starting a new relationship? What is it that you want? It's like that rebirth. So it can be anything that you want to place on the back of that.

Steph:

Fabulous. So, Corrina, just to wrap up, I usually ask what's one piece of advice that you want the listeners to take away from this conversation. I'm not going to confine you to just one. But overall, what would you like the listeners to take away?

Corrina:

I think the fact that anybody can do this, you don't have to have a pristine, beautiful home. It can be, you know, a bit untidy and things like that, but anybody can do this. Um, you don't have to go and redecorate, you don't have to go and move furniture around like a traditional feng shui practice might be. And I just think that the one thing I want people to know is that anyone can do this. If you're starting to build a home, don't wait for it to be built and decorated. Do it now because then it supports you and it supports everybody within that home that lives there throughout your whole life. It's not necessarily going to stop unfortunate things from happening, but it's there to support you through whatever it is you're going through in your life. And I've seen some incredible changes, not only for myself, but my clients too.

Steph:

And how can the listeners find you? How can they work with you?

Corrina:

I'm on social media, I'm on Instagram and I'm on uh Facebook, Guiding Stars Feng Shui. Um, and I've got a website too. Um, and you could, I suppose, type in Feng Shui podcasts, and I'll be on various podcasts. Um, but I think you'll probably put those links in the notes, won't you?

Steph:

I will, I'll definitely put it all in the show notes. And do you want to give a shout out to your workshop that you've got coming up?

Corrina:

Oh, thank you. Yes. Um, so I have a workshop coming up on the 7th of December. Um, so if you're around the Surrey area, um then come along. Oh, it actually is not in Surrey, that's where I live. We're uh we're holding it in Hampshire, sorry, so it's it's not far from where I am. But it's um myself and a colleague of mine, she's the crystal lady that I was just telling you about. And we're coming together, we're putting on a beautiful two-hour workshop where I can give you um tips and tricks of what you can do for Feng Shui within your home, simple things that you can do within the home just to keep calm around Christmas. Um, she will be coming from a crystal point of view, so where best to place these particular crystals so that it's fully supporting you in those areas, and then it's getting finished off with Tibetan Sound Bowl Healing. Um, so yeah, it's between one and three o'clock on the 7th of December, but tickets are going quickly and it is limited spaces. So feel free to send me a message and I can uh send you the link for the payment.

Steph:

Amazing. I wish I lived closer to you, but I would be there. Thank you so much for coming back on, Corrina.

Corrina:

Well, thank you for inviting me.

Steph:

Oh, you're so welcome. I think it's going to be really, really helpful for people around the Christmas period. Sometimes it's just a bit overwhelming, isn't it? And when you know that there's stuff that you can do to protect your energy and and your home, then I think it's a wonderful thing to do. So thank you for coming back on again.

Corrina:

No problem. And actually, just one little thing that you've just made me think of. If you are feeling stressed or anxious, the one thing that I have, you know, I really swear by and that's really, really helped me over the last few years is meditation. And it's not to say that you have to sit there and literally hum, you know, but literally just if you've got the time throughout the day just to take a few minutes out. But for me personally, I go to sleep listening to it, so it doesn't take up any of my time, but I have got some short recordings on my website too for anxiety and things like that. So if that helps you, they're about 10 minutes long and you can fall asleep, and your brain is just absorbing all of that positive um guidance.

Steph:

Wonderful. I will link all your socials in the show notes. So thank you, Corrina. Thank you, thank you.

Steph:
