56. Start As You Intend to Continue: The Parenting Advice That Changed Everything
Sometimes the most powerful parenting advice comes in a casual conversation… and for us, it was this: “Start as you intend to continue.”
In this episode, we explore the real-life impact of setting intentional (and sustainable!) habits in the early years of parenting… habits that helped shape how our kids eat, sleep, cope, and relate to others.
We chat through:
- Why mealtime matters more than we think (and why sitting down with your kids counts)
- Letting go of perfectionism (no fancy cut-out fruit required)
- The importance of boundaries, for us and for our kids
- How social skills, independence, and even dopamine are shaped by the little everyday moments
- Why it’s okay (and necessary) to not always be available
- And why we never became short-order cooks 😉
This episode is full of personal stories, gentle reminders, and lots of “I’ve totally done that too” moments. Whether you’re in the early years or parenting teens, this one is for anyone who’s ever questioned: Am I doing this right?
