You can work hard and still train smart, and PB Mixed is our clearest proof. We’re pulling back the curtain on the Palmetto Bluff Club Fitness Center format that blends functional strength and conditioning into one dynamic, full-body session built for real life movement, not just gym numbers.

We talk through why PB Mixed exists in a world full of fast training trends, and why “move well” has to come before “move fast.” Real life asks you to change direction, carry awkward loads, recover quickly, and adapt when you’re tired, stressed, or short on time. PB Mixed prepares you for that with mixed modality training using tools like kettlebells, battle ropes, sleds, rowing, bodyweight work, and loaded carries. No two classes are exactly alike, and the programming stays intentionally separate from PB Strong so your training has a clear purpose across cycles.

We also dig into the benefits of high-intensity mixed modality training, including cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance, work capacity, and overall conditioning, with the bonus of serious time efficiency. Most importantly, we explain what makes PB Mixed different: it isn’t random. Every workout is designed to be challenging while staying accessible through smart coaching, modifications, and progressions so the goal isn’t survival, it’s capability and resilience.

If you want a workout that pushes you and still leaves you feeling supported, this one’s for you. Subscribe, share this with a friend who loves variety, and leave a review with the kind of training you want to hear us break down next.

Welcome And The PB Mixed Goal

Are you ready to live an active lifestyle? Welcome to Behind the Bluff, where we believe every moment of your life is an opportunity to pursue wellness on your terms. I'm your host, Jeff Ford, and today we're talking about PBMixed, our signature class that combines functional strength and conditioning into one dynamic workout. If PB Strong is about building your foundation, PB Mixed is about applying that foundation in a fast-paced, full-body environment. If you weren't with us for the PB Strong

Why PB Mixed Exists

episode inside look number one, go back and give it a listen because this gives you the behind the scenes focus that we have for the new programming at the Palmetto Bluff Club Fitness Center. Now, why does PB Mix exist? Well, a lot of folks love to move fast when it comes to training. We've seen various franchises like F-45, Orange Siri, CrossFit lead to many individuals out there pushing the pace in their workouts. And it's important to move fast, but it's important to move well more than anything. And the reason is that life doesn't happen one muscle at a time. Real life asks us to move in multiple directions, change speeds, carry things, recover, and adapt.

What You Do In Class

That's exactly what PB Mixed is designed to train. In this new format, you might see kettlebells, battle ropes, sleds, body weight exercises, rowing, carries, and other functional movements. The coolest part is that no two classes are exactly alike. And none of the movements done in a PB mixed format will overlap with PB strong. They are completely separate depending on the cycle. And I found that in my experience of leading wellness programs for almost two decades now, many people thrive on variety. It's why I'm a huge proponent of a class setting, bringing people together and giving them variety. And I don't think this is because those out there need entertainment, but it's because varied movement challenges different muscles, movement patterns, and energy systems, making it a way more exciting workout. PB Mixed is designed to help your body adapt. Some days you'll be pushing, some days you'll be pulling, some days moving quickly, and some days grinding through a challenging interval that your body's not used to. The variety in this style of training will keep you engaged and help develop your overall fitness.

The Science And The Intentional Design

Now, if you've been with us for a while following our programming, uh, or you just are following your own program at home, you're not a member here at Palomo Bluff, it's important to recognize the science behind what you do. And having purpose and intentionality is what we want for the members that we are blessed with being able to train. So research on high-intensity mixed modality training shows a lot of benefits: cardiovascular fitness improvements, muscular endurance, work capacity, and overall conditioning. Perhaps most importantly, it's highly time efficient. What makes PB Mix different than other programs that you may be participating in outside the walls of Palmetto Bluff is that it's not as random as you might think it is. Every workout is intentionally designed to create challenge while remaining accessible dependent upon your current fitness level. We want every single person to be provided with modifications and progressions so that they can participate at the level that's right for them. The goal isn't to survive the workout, the goal is to become more capable, more resilient, more conditioned. And this has been a tested class, a story over time where we have

The Preview Class Energy

seen this become one of our more popular formats. Last week we hosted one of our first PB mixed test preview classes in the new functional training classroom at PBCFC. And honestly, it was one of those moments where you step back and smile. Nadair Mertolouli, one of our fitness specialists, was leading the class. I was partaking with other members and staff. And he said he looked over at me and he just saw this sense of happiness, this sense of pride that I had for our new facility and the workout that we had designed together. It was inspiring. We had trainers and members working side by side. People were encouraging each other. There was energy in the room. What stood out wasn't how hard people were working, it was how much fun they were having while working hard in a new space. That's the environment that we're trying to create here at PoMetto Bluff. Challenging workouts, yes, but also a place where people feel connected, supported, and more than anything, excited to come back.

Who PB Mixed Is For

So in closing, PB Mixed is for members who enjoy energy, variety, and a workout that challenges both strength and conditioning in a single session. In our final episode, my plan is to discuss PB cardio and why improving both endurance and power matters more than people realize. I very much hope that you can join the next Inside Look conversation.
