From Struggle to Strength: My Journey and Recovery from an Eating Disorder
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In honor of Eating Disorder Awareness Week, Rossie is sharing a deeply personal part of her story — her battle with an eating disorder 26 years ago.
This is not an easy topic, but it is an important one especially theses days.
Rossie opens up about her struggles and how her eating disorder became a way to cope during one of the hardest seasons of her life. She shares how grief, trauma, and the need for control took hold, and how recovery came through faith, baby steps, and learning to nourish her body instead of punish it.
This episode is a reminder that:
- Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions — not just about food.
- They can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, body type, or background.
- Many who struggle look “fine” on the outside while silently suffering.
- Recovery is possible — especially with early support and professional help.
Rossie also discusses:
- What eating disorders really are
- The connection between trauma, control, and perfectionism
- Her six-year battle and turning point toward recovery
- Why mentorship and advocacy matter
- How small daily habits helped her rebuild her health
- The importance of seeking professional support
While Rossie is not a licensed therapist or medical doctor, she speaks from lived experience and from years of mentoring and volunteering with eating disorder organizations. Her heart is to provide hope and encourage those struggling — or those who love someone struggling — to seek help.
