[00:00:13] Welcome to Master the Inbox, the podcast where course creators, coaches, and consultants come to learn how to sell with email marketing in a non spammy, non aggressive way. My name is Monica Abadiu. I've been a sales email copywriter for five years, helping course creators rock their email with a customer centric approach.
[00:00:36] And in this podcast, I share some of my secrets. Today, I'm tackling one of the biggest dilemmas course creators and thought leaders have. Is it good for my brand to run a Black Friday sale or not? Well, let's talk about the reasons not. First of all, we have that fear of failure. discounting our brand in the idea that if [00:01:00] we do it enough times or if we have big discounts, normally you'd have that for Black Friday, your audience is going to learn to wait for a discount and they're not going to buy in the future.
[00:01:12] Perfectly normal concern. Second reason why not, Black Friday is highly competitive. You are competing for your students budget along with thousands, yeah, thousands other brands. Your competitors are running a Black Friday. Everyone in the retail market is running a Black Friday sale. So, How can you stand out in such a crowded place?
[00:01:40] Finally, since we're talking about high competition for your client's budget, we're also talking about high competition in the inbox. If you're not sending emails now and you struggle to have a regular consistent schedule for your emails, then it's going to be even more [00:02:00] complicated to be visible in that inbox during Black Friday.
[00:02:04] So, with those three things in mind, is it worthwhile to have a Black Friday sale? Well, I would say yes, because this is when most people are actually primed, they're waiting to buy something, and it's not something that we see too often. Black Friday is when people are ready to purchase something. They have their wallets ready, their credit cards ready, and they're just looking in their inbox on social media.
[00:02:34] They're actually visiting their favorite brand's stores, whether it's online or offline, to see what's available for Black Friday. So I would say it would be a missed opportunity to not run a Black Friday sale. Now, regarding your Potential three reasons why not. There are many different ways you can actually run a Black Friday sale that [00:03:00] is profitable, even if you have a high discount at the top of your funnel.
[00:03:05] There are ways you can actually sell. stand out in the crowd, even if your competitors are throwing bigger discounts at your audience. And there are definitely ways to make sure that you are competing in a crowded inbox. And you can do all of that, honestly, while having some fun and being authentic in your sales messaging and actually providing value.
[00:03:30] Plus, honestly, Black Friday is like the only time of the year when you can be salesy and you don't have to worry about it or even like feel awkward about it. People are expecting it. But that being said, you don't have to be salesy, sleazy, or aggressive. You can do Black Friday in a way that feels good to you and your brand and in a way that is actually delivering value to your audience.
