And of course, I'm talking about segmentation. And in today's episode, I'll show you how. And in today's episode, I'll introduce you to three top segments you should be targeting with your Black Friday campaign.

[00:00:56] Today, [00:01:00] the Law. I'm Monica. I'm Monica, and I'm your host. For the past five years I've been working with top course creators, helping them monetize their email list with customer centric sales emails, and in this podcast I'm sharing some of my secrets,

Today we're talking about one of the most powerful strategies for Black Friday, and that's email segmentation. So if you want to maximize your sales, you've got to stop treating your email list like a one size fits all audience.
[00:01:48] I'll show you how to break it down into segments and tailor your offers to different groups for better results. Now you have to understand that your audience [00:02:00] isn't all the same. We're not just talking about people who haven't purchased your Black Friday offers and then people who just exist. Your audience is made up of different segments and each segment represents a group with specific needs, purchase behaviors, and engagement levels.
[00:02:22] Segmentation allows you to personalize your offers and even your emails that makes your messaging sound more tailored.
[00:02:37] Segmentation allows you to personalize your offers. It allows you to have a deeper type of conversation with your audience. And this is a tactic that actually helps you sell more. Because when you send the right message to the right person at the right time, it feels like [00:03:00] it's personal. It feels like you're speaking directly to them.

[00:03:24] there are three key segments that I write for and that I teach my own clients to target. Number one is the VIP customer. And this is probably one of the segments that most people just ignore. But that's where your actual money is in. So this segment is actually comprised of your most loyal customers.
[00:03:53] It's the people who have purchased at least once or twice something that [00:04:00] you've been selling. It's also people who have purchased and are engaged regularly with your content. These are your highest converters. They love your brand. They have tried your courses and they know what you can deliver, which means that they are more likely to respond to exclusive offers.
[00:04:21] And the best way to target them during Black Friday is to give them early access to a Black Friday deal or some kind of special VIP only discount. This makes them feel like they're getting something extra for their loyalty.
[00:04:39] The second segment you should consider comprises recent purchasers. So these are people who bought something from you within the last 30 to 6 days. Within the last 30 to 60 days, they're important because they have shown recent engagement. [00:05:00] They are still early enough in their journey with you to potentially consider alternative offers.
[00:05:08] And if they purchase something on the front end, which means could have gotten your course number one, but maybe they didn't purchase the order bump or the upsell, this is when you could make them an offer they can't resist. I mean, They've already seen your offers in the funnel before, but now you're giving them an extra incentive for them to actually convert a second time.
[00:05:36] The best way to do this for Black Friday is to personalize what they're seeing. So if you know that you have 500 people who have purchased a course in the last 60 days, But they haven't purchased the order bob or the upsell in that funnel, then for Black Friday you can create their specific [00:06:00] segment and give them an offer like 25 percent off both products during Black Friday.
[00:06:08] This helps you to acknowledge where they're at. It helps you to justify why they're seeing your message. And it shows them why those specific products could be of interest to them.
[00:06:25] The third segment you should be targeting is non buyer, but high intent subscriber. So these are people who are on your email list and they click your emails, they open your content, maybe they even reply to your emails, but they have not converted yet. This is a One of the segments that is going to be converting the best during Black Friday, particularly if they've been on your email list for a couple of [00:07:00] weeks slash months, and if they have seen some of your courses before.
[00:07:06] And what I mean by that, and it's something that my clients are doing. So if you're going to promote, Each month, a different course. Over the course of six months, that means your audience could see six different products. Some people don't have six courses. They have three courses Which means that every two months we'd be promoting one of those courses And because we make sure that each promotion takes a different angle and delivers value Unique to the context or to the problem or the pain point that your audience is experiencing Then by the time black friday hits that specific audience would have Been exposed to your offer at least once Now, this is very important and what I've seen in practice is that those high intent subscribers that have seen your [00:08:00] content before, have seen your offers before, they've seen your case studies, they've seen your testimonials, they've been reading your emails, clicking and engaging, but haven't purchased yet, they convert so nicely during Black Friday.
[00:08:15] That's probably because they were just waiting for a bigger nudge, which is the Black Friday
[00:08:26] Now for this specific audience, I would say to focus on communicating the value of your Black Friday deal. So what I mean by that is that sometimes A big portion of your audience can't afford or justify the financial investment of your offer. Obviously, there are ways to deal with that, but for this specific segment, make sure that your Black Friday emails use a lot more social proof than what you normally do with your previous [00:09:00] buyers.
[00:09:03] What you're also going to see with this specific segment is that you're going to see a high Bump in conversions the moment you announce your black friday offer and then most likely you're going to see um a drop in between the first email and the last emails of your Black Friday campaign. But what you're gonna see is that during Black Friday, like November 2090, if we're talking about 2024, you're most likely going to see a huge spike in revenue for this specific segment.
[00:09:35] Because if we're talking about this specific audience, we're talking about people who need that final nudge towards making the buying decision. In this case, that final nudge comes from the urgency of the expiring discount.
[00:09:58] So with Black [00:10:00] Friday, remember to create offers that match these different segments on your email list. At a minimum, make sure that you have something for your previous buyers. Those are your best customers. If they've had a good experience with your course or digital product, they will be most likely to convert again.
[00:10:23] Bring them back. With a Black Friday offer, they can't resist.
[00:10:30] Recent buyers and high intent subscribers are another two segments that you should be taking into account. Your email marketing platform and your CRM should be connected, so they work together to help you design these segments and target them with your Black Friday emails.
