Ep 40 - A COG in the Machine
Navigating any bureaucracy is tricky and complicated, but finding consensus while your working with dozens of them can be downright maddening. In the state of Texas, local governments are often grouped together in entities known as COGs, or Councils of Governments, to help more effectively use resources and taxpayer money to provided services to the public and ensure consistency across different counties and municipalities. The Capital Area Council of Governments, CAPCOG, is a central Texas body which, among other things, helps to provide emergency 9-1-1 services to the region. Joining us this week is Pamela Frisk, the training coordinator for CAPCOG and a veteran of public service with more than 33 years in the field.
