Ep. 235: Why You Keep Losing Momentum (Even When You Start Strong)
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Today I want to talk about something that happens to almost everyone when it comes to clutter.
And honestly… it’s not starting.
It’s not motivation.
It’s what happens a few days in…a few days after you’ve started.

Okay, so maybe you've experienced this before. You finally decide, okay, I'm gonna deal with this, right? I'm gonna deal with this, I'm gonna make progress, I'm gonna make a difference. And you do. You get started, you make progress, you clear some things, you put some time into it. And it feels amazing when you do that. Maybe things feel a little bit lighter, maybe you feel a little bit lighter. Maybe that space or that area or that box or that bin or...
even just your life in general as a result feels more manageable. And maybe it actually feels like this time I think it's gonna be different. But then here's what happens. Life, your life outside of the clutter, all the other things, it comes crashing back in.
your schedule gets crazy, things don't go as you have planned them, people need you, your energy drops, and you walk into that space again and you have a thought that sounds something like this. This is just one more thing. And what that really means is I don't have time for this right now. I've already done so much today. I'll come back to this later. And underneath those thoughts, or as a result of those thoughts, here's what it
feels like. It feels like overwhelm. It feels like low energy. It feels like being stretched too thin. And so you walk away. Not because you don't care about dealing with that stuff or don't care about the progress that you've made or don't care about dealing with the clutter, but because you don't have the capacity to deal with it the way that you think you should. And that should is important because it usually looks like and sounds like I should keep going till it's done or I
should make sure that I do it right this time, or I should have time and focus and energy, but of course I just don't. And since these are heavy shoulds, they aren't realistic. And so you just walk away and do nothing. And this is where most people lose momentum with their clutter. It's again, not at the beginning, but it's right at this point when life comes crashing back in, when discouragement and disappointment arrive. And this is exactly
what we're working on in day four of the spring clutter fresh start because instead of waiting for the right conditions we learn how to keep going on your clutter inside of your real life because that's where that's where it exists.
Here's the thing, you don't need an hour to work on your clutter. You don't need perfect energy. You just need a way to stay connected in it. This might look like a quick five minute return to the work that you've already done. It might look like picking up a couple of things while you're already there or resetting one small area that started to unravel a little bit before it gets to the point of a complete unraveling. It doesn't look like doing everything. It looks like just
doing something. And when you start focusing on just doing something, something shifts. You stop losing progress. You stop starting over. And things actually begin to stay manageable, far from perfect, but manageable. And this is enough. This can be enough. Manageable can be enough.
So building out this process and this mindset shift, this is what we're doing inside the Spring Clutter Fresh Start. It is a five day clutter event. Every day is simple. Every day is step by step. And it works in the midst of your real life. And if you're listening to this and thinking, wow, this is exactly what it looks like for me, you can still join us. Even if the live sessions have already passed, you can go through everything on your own time as we've got everything
available as a self-study format. So check the notes below for how you can gain access to this amazing five-day clutter event that has transformed the lives and the homes of so many women.
In reality, it's not that you can't do this. It's not that you can't make progress. It's that you haven't had a way to keep going when your life outside of your clutter takes over. And that's what we're talking about today. So until we talk again, make it a great day.
