Have you ever decluttered a closet...

and then six months later found yourself decluttering basically the same closet again?

Same shelf. Same shoes you weren't sure about the first time. Same three sweaters that never quite made it out the door.

Or you cleared off the kitchen counter, felt so good about it, and a month later the same categories of stuff are piled right back where they started.

Or you went through a box and you made real decisions.

This goes to Goodwill.

I'm selling this.

I need to ask my daughter about this one.

I'm going to repair this.

I'm keeping this.

And then three weeks later... it's all still sitting there. Maybe in slightly different piles. Maybe you even reorganized the piles, which somehow felt like progress.

And at some point you start thinking, how many times am I going to have to declutter this house? Didn't I already do this?

Here's what I think is actually happening. You don't have a decluttering problem. You have a decision-closing problem.

You made the decision. You just never finished it. Today we're going to talk about the difference between making a clutter decision and closing one. Because they are not the same thing, and that gap is exactly why your house keeps handing you the same piles over and over again.
