About this episode: In this episode, Dr. Bill Harris and Kelly Patterson talk to Dr. Aleix Sala-Vila. Dr. Sala-Vila received his PhD in biomedicine from the University of Barcelona in 2004. His research has involved the role of bioactive compounds, especially omega-3 fatty acids from cellular biology to epidemiology, with the ultimate goal of reducing the incidence of chronic disease by optimizing omega-3 status. He has received four postdoctoral fellowships and has published over 45 papers on fatty acids. The main focus of their discussion is a new paper on omega-3 and Alzheimer’s that is causing controversy because it claims omega-3s may accelerate cognitive decline.
