Barton Bryan and Mitch Royer Season 1 Episode 36

Send us a text

Imagine hitting a milestone birthday and finding yourself surrounded by laughter, cigars, and those "you're not over the hill yet" comments. That's exactly how Mitch celebrated his 40th with a bang, and we couldn't resist sharing the hilarity and warmth of the day. Mitch's wife, Stacy, stole the show with her mouth-watering homemade cheesecakes, while the whiskey gifts flowed, adding a spirited touch. A standout moment? Mitch's brother, who brought a sampler pack of cigars, definitely knew how to up the birthday ante. Between the sugar-fueled antics of kids and the joy of family togetherness, this celebration was one for the books.

Switching gears from birthday cakes to game days, we fired up a lively discussion about the college football scene with a focus on some blockbuster matchups. Indiana versus Notre Dame promises to be a nail-biter, while Tennessee taking on Ohio State is set to keep fans on the edge of their seats. We tackled the nuances of team dynamics and coaching strategies with the fervor of true sports devotees. In a nod to those hitting 'the big 4-0', we stressed the importance of mobility exercises and warming up properly, especially in those chilly months, to keep fit and injury-free.

To top it all off, we ventured into the realm of blood sugar tracking with an insightful firsthand account of using a glucose patch. Curious about how your favorite foods and drinks might be impacting you? We've got surprising insights and comparisons between popular health trackers. Our episode wraps with a hearty dose of holiday cheer and a side of laughter, thanks to a white elephant gift that took an unexpected turn. Together, we celebrate family bonds and the festive spirit with stories that blend humor, gratitude, and personal growth.

Speaker 1:

ready welcome to dad, bods and dumbbells. My name is mitch hey, I'm bart thanks for listening, liking, subscribing and sharing. We are excited we got a great show today it was mitch's birthday. Yes, 40 years old.

Speaker 2:

Thanks, buddy you yeah 40 years young this man is. You know what? Honestly, you're more handsome this week than you were last week. I think it's the 40s. You're wearing it well.

Speaker 1:

I had somebody I was interacting with the day before my birthday and I was like, yeah, it's my birthday tomorrow. And they're like, oh, happy birthday. You know, everybody's super cool about it. And I go, yeah, I'm turning 40. And they're like, no, you don't look 40. I was like, oh, thanks, ha ha, you look like more like 38. It's the same, it's only two, it's only two years difference. You might as well you look like you're in your thirties. I think would make more sense.

Speaker 2:

So yeah, it's like they wanted to give you a like, an almost compliment but not that they pull back from it. It's like when somebody gets a bad haircut and it's like oh, haircut, you got a haircut, you got a haircut and I did get a haircut and a beard trim.

Speaker 1:

Thanks for noticing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

You're looking sharp bud Thanks dude, I'm trying.

Speaker 2:

Or I thought maybe it was that $3,500. You found that you finally can't. You're like, screw it, I'm just going to use it, dude.

Speaker 1:

I tried it. I should try it, no away. It was like it was starting to like gather around our house so it's like our kids would play with it, show people, and it just started. It started multiplying, uh, yeah. So my birthday it was fun, man. Uh, my wife always does a great job and of course, the kids are just so much fun and so they're into it. I stayed out too late on tuesday so I was pretty beat most of the day and then I got home late and uh, but we had some friends over stacy, made me two cheesecakes, a key lime that's her traditional.

Speaker 1:

She always buys me, makes me a cheese but it doesn't buy. She makes it from scratch a cheesecake and she made a key lime cheesecake in a creme brulee cheesecake. So we invited our friends over that are that live by us and these guys just start bringing in bottles of whiskey. It's like oh, buddy people know me way too well, or you know that anytime you get too many bottles of whiskey from friends, you start wondering if you have a problem.

Speaker 2:

Everybody only buys you whiskey.

Speaker 1:

One thing that I do like is it's kind of like one of those secret things that I don't ever acknowledge because I'm afraid that it'll go away. But my brother, the doctor, he always sends me a birthday gift and it's always so freaking cool. So one year he got me this knife. That's super sharp, but it's like almost like a switchblade, but it's like slide, it's a button, it just flips open. You know, it's so cool that sounds like a switchblade yeah, it's basically a switchblade, you know, cool one, uh.

Speaker 1:

And then this year, so I I didn't want to jinx it or anything I was like, oh, maybe he, you know, maybe just not this year, you know, um, it's the 40th buddy Stacey hands me I forgot this year.

Speaker 2:

It would be unacceptable. My wife hands me a gift bag.

Speaker 1:

I'm like, hey, I don't want to open anything. Yet she's like, no, no, open it. And I open it and it's this brick of cigars like a sampler pack or like 35 cigars, and I was like I can't believe this. And I looked at the brand. I've never tried the brand but I was like, if this is my brother, they have to be really nice.

Speaker 1:

And so yeah, they're definitely nice. I smoked one on my birthday and I can't wait to mow through them. I was like I'm just going to smoke them all real fast because they're so good.

Speaker 2:

Great idea.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, dude, but I got this new humidor from my buddy, jake the whiskey Jake. He gave me his humidor so I have like it can fit like 100 cigars, so I had perfect spot for him, humidity is perfect, they're going to last forever. I'm going to let them age a little bit, I'm pumped.

Speaker 2:

I'm amazed for you.

Speaker 1:

You don't smoke cigars, right? No, never, that's not your thing, not really.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, I mean I'm like you know what I like about cigars is you don't inhale, yeah, you just you kind of take it in the mouth, yeah, which, uh, you just get mouth the teeth and you know yeah, and you ate.

Speaker 1:

I noticed like my skin ages a lot worse. You know you don't want smokers, get that kind of look, you know I noticed it would probably be in the squinty of the eyes, but anyway. So my brother got me that, my wife got me a grill. Question on kids.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so my son's always into everybody's birthday but I always feel like it's a negotiated fun because he knows, he's getting cake and ice cream as a part of it.

Speaker 1:

That's the best part Everybody's birthday, you get something.

Speaker 2:

I'm like watching my son celebrate my wife's birthday and I'm like I think he's just here for the cake.

Speaker 1:

He's playing along as long as the cake's coming. I need to see some genuine feel. Uh, no, no, the kids thing is fun, man, I love it. It just makes it so much more fun. And then, uh, we didn't get to do much, we were gonna, because midweek it's a wednesday, it's so it sucks.

Speaker 2:

It's a weird, weird time and it's a week from before christmas yeah, so nobody cares about your birthday.

Speaker 1:

I'm just gonna tell you right now, everyone, everybody did, everyone did. Everybody's got Christmas fever. They were super cool, but we're going to Vegas. Stacey and I are going to Vegas in January Awesome.

Speaker 2:

All right, let's do the dad joke before we go too far down the rabbit hole.

Speaker 1:

Dad joke of the week. Why can't a leopard hide? Why can't a leopard hide?

Speaker 2:

Because it's always spots.

Speaker 1:

It. Why can't? It's always spots, it's always got spots.

Speaker 2:

That's pretty good spotting, because he's always spotted. Yeah, you're close, I just I needed a bit. Yeah, you're right, like you'll get it.

Speaker 1:

I think you're getting so close to these I think you're gonna start figuring them out.

Speaker 2:

I'm circling, I'm not too far off.

Speaker 1:

He's like asking chat g. Give me the best dad jokes.

Speaker 2:

That's what you're doing. Yeah, absolutely, absolutely.

Speaker 1:

I didn't come up with these.

Speaker 2:

Oh, my God, God, let's see All right, where are?

Speaker 1:

we going now. I'm a little distracted. I think that's it Sorry. Okay, that was decent hey listeners.

Speaker 2:

By the way, you're going to have some downtime over the holidays. Shoot us a couple of dad jokes.

Speaker 1:

Send them to my email. I love that. We want to refresh our brand here. 2025 is going to have better dad jokes. Well, we got the college football playoffs, so we got to do our one minute of college football and then after that we can talk a little bit more about fitness.

Speaker 2:

Yes, let's do it.

Speaker 1:

So one minute of college football time with Bart, as we teach him the love of college football. It is college football playoff. 12 team playoff starts tomorrow. Or it starts today because this comes out today.

Speaker 2:

Friday.

Speaker 1:

So we got on the roster. We got my Hoosiers Indiana against Notre Dame Boo Hate, yes, so we got on the roster. We got my Hoosiers Indiana against Notre Dame, boo Hate, notre Dame. So number 11 versus seven.

Speaker 2:

But what a great game, because it's like you know, it's the rivalry.

Speaker 1:

I think you got well. It's never been a rivalry.

Speaker 2:

That's what's crazy In-state rivalry.

Speaker 1:

In-state rivalry. I mean they've never to Indiana offense and the defense of Notre Dame. I think it's going to be a pretty sick matchup. But I think if, if Indiana can get a couple touchdowns on the board early, I think they'll just continue to roll and they'll have the confidence to win.

Speaker 2:

Okay, that game really won't matter in the longterm, because whoever they win, whoever wins are going to go to the next round and get whooped, so let's move on.

Speaker 1:

Then on Saturday, smu and penn state well, penn state's gonna bowl is gonna bully. Yeah, smu don't have a chance. And then saturday, texas, clemson and tennessee ohio state play each other. Uh, what do you? What do you think about texas? Are they gonna? I mean you?

Speaker 2:

know the, the, the analytics are saying they're gonna win, but like you know, you gotta, you gotta. There's always that slight percentage of chance that, like yours, doesn't quite show up well, or there's turnovers and you know, or maybe you know, maybe a couple injuries show up that we didn't expect. I mean you just it's always a question mark with ut they're not because they're good but they're not dominant and so, because they're not dominant, you have to kind of always be slightly nervous until they're up by like 30, and then you can sit back.

Speaker 1:

Okay, yeah, put an arch, you know. So the thing about playing anybody who plays Clemson, especially in the playoffs, is Dabo, is like. Dabo is a great matchup King, so he knows what it takes to win that game, and so that's what I'm a little bit worried about, for Texas is just Dabo being Dabo. But the cool thing about that is he is only one of two current college football coaches that have a national title. There's only two coaches in the national Kirby smart from Georgia and Dabo Sweeney. So it's it's showing that maybe the experience wins out. So we'll see, yeah, and then tennessee, ohio state. I hate the buck guys. I hope they get dominated by the voles, but they probably won't okay, I don't have a point of view on that one, and that's one minute of college football, and we're going on.

Speaker 2:

All right. Hey, let's talk. Uh, you know, this is the time that people really tune out their fitness.

Speaker 1:

Not you. You're all in and I love that about you.

Speaker 2:

I mean, you've really gone all into these workouts that I sent you and your wife are doing them, but I've noticed you've been a little like stiffer.

Speaker 1:

Dude. Ever since I turned 40 yesterday, I've been like I woke up. He was like I woke up. He was like it's been tough dude and mobility is tough. I'm struggling with it and I'm starting to feel like it's more and more necessary to have a routine that's going to allow me to work into something. Even throwing the football with my son my shoulder it hurts so much, and so it takes a while to get things rolling again.

Speaker 2:

And.

Speaker 1:

I just need some like decent, like old man routine.

Speaker 2:

Here's the thing as you get older and you just got a lot older yesterday- we're in a whole new decade. As you get older. I think it just takes you kind of imagine the gears are just you're driving around in 1985.

Speaker 1:

84. 84, whatever. Close Datsun. They don't make them anymore. It's orange, orange Dotson. My dad had one of those.

Speaker 2:

And so you just got to oil the gears a little bit more and so you can't think about yourself as like, hey, I can just go out and start running. But the idea behind warming up is not stretching, it's mobility, and all that means is really like getting blood flow and warming up the muscles and tendons like through the fullest range of motion possible, and so there's a lot of ways to do that. You know, there's kind of typical things you would see on like a football field before a game where they're doing like A skips, B skips, C skips, you know, maybe doing some like shoulder or rotator cuffs, that kind of movement, things like that. The idea behind it is you don't want to hold the stretch that actually makes you weaker. You want to move through full mobility or full range of motion. So there's a lot of ways to do that and you have to kind of figure out for yourself.

Speaker 2:

There's not like this is the perfect warm-up routine for everybody, right? I mean, based on your previous injuries where you tend to be tight, you know, you kind of had to figure out, okay, what's going to be the best bang for my buck? Um, and just understand too that, like, as your body warms up, some of those things would just go away, which is one of the reasons why I'm a big proponent of like doing multiple warmups. Before you know, before you do a lift, is that in the course of those two or three warm-ups, your body, your muscles get warmer. You're just progressively getting into your heavier weights and your body's kind of adapting and ready to go.

Speaker 2:

Now, if you have an injury, you might do some kind of PT-type warm-ups or just some more activation, but generally you want to make sure the muscles and the and the joints are as warm as possible before, especially as whether it's colder you know cold weather, cold joints, right, I mean. So you. So if you're about to go out and run and it's 40 degrees outside and you're wearing shorts, cause you got sexy legs.

Speaker 1:

I do, I know, you do. I can only imagine Tree trunks.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, tree trunks for legs you have to think a little bit more about. Maybe I should do some sweepers to kind of wake up the hamstrings a little bit more Maybe, I do some walking lunges or I do some booty kickers or just some A-skips, things like that.

Speaker 1:

That can just help the hip flexors, hamstrings, the calves, all that kind of stuff just feel a little bit more warm and therefore you're not just like going from zero to to running in 40 degree weather, yeah, and then the calf is like and you're like, oh, I don't know why that happened, I'm just wondering how long to you know? That's the hard part is like just this process of of understanding exactly how long do I really need to warm up, and is it it just case by case basis how I'm feeling?

Speaker 2:

I think it's honestly like two to five minutes.

Speaker 1:

Like people do so much.

Speaker 2:

I'll see at the gym or like oh, this guy's like I'm, you know I'm serious.

Speaker 1:

I'm doing like 20 minutes of mobility.

Speaker 2:

They're avoiding working out or they just want to get noticed for being like, like the guy that knows cool moves to like and you know and I so I just I think you want to get in there. You know, if you've got an old injury where you've got some specific needs around, like a shoulder, low back, something like that, maybe you take a little more time with that area, otherwise you just start getting. You want to get blood flow.

Speaker 2:

You want to get warmth, you know actual temperature increase in the muscle, uh, and start to kind of progressively get into whether it's running or working out that's good.

Speaker 1:

Well, I appreciate that. Uh, I guess I'm looking for more of a lifestyle change, probably just because it really has been noticeable the injuries, or I don't even know if it's injuries, just old age, you know, probably.

Speaker 2:

Um, just think about this way in the very beginning of a relationship, you can kind of just get after it, and I'm talking about in the bedroom all right as you get older, you gotta just got a little more foreplay, right, you gotta, you gotta and you gotta snuggle at the end and all that's all warming up and cooling down, is it's just, it's just adding a little foreplay and and yeah, so just just just speak a language that might perk up some of our listeners here, um, yeah, what's foreplay I I uh, I have sex like I run, I just jump right into it all right, all right so I'm a selfish lover.

Speaker 1:

Is what I'm saying that's fantastic.

Speaker 2:

Okay so, but that's the idea. I mean, it's just like you got to come up. It should be a, it should be mandatory in your, the mind of a 40 plus person, that, whatever exercise you're gonna do, if you have 20 minutes, you should do five minutes of warming up, 12 minutes of whatever you work out and then three minutes of cool down or stretching or just some sort of lighter cool down.

Speaker 2:

And so that should always kind of sandwich your workout. If you're like, oh, I got 30 minutes, I'm just going to go right into bench and just go heavy because I don't have enough time to warm up, that's not the right mindset. You're going to get hurt, right. But if you've got 45 minutes, you know you do your five. You know 10-minute warm-up, you kind of progress up to those heavy weights. You do a good workout. You know you get to the end of it. You might do some accessory work with some triceps, some side delts, whatever, and then you stretch a little bit and you wrap it up, you put a bow on it, you go back upstairs and you start your day.

Speaker 1:

That's good, right, I like that. It's a mature person.

Speaker 2:

That's my point, like you know it's kind of interesting, like you don't. You don't have to know anything when you're 20. You just have to go to the gym and move weights around, right, and you're going to probably get some results by the time you're 40. You kind of have to have a maturity about how you attack fitness or you're going to you know you're going to fall apart.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's good, I like it. Thanks for the advice.

Speaker 2:

Sure bud. All right, let's. Let's dig into one more topic. This is interesting. I have been wearing a glucose patch, not because I have type one diabetes, but as I don't, when he came in.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's it's you weird. It's hard to notice because my arms are so. So it's a glucose tester patch. I've always wondered what. Yeah, your arms are too jacked, it's hard to tell.

Speaker 2:

So shout out to Cindy at Everguide Health. It's a concierge health program here in Austin, but she put one on me as of a just a sample to kind of see what it's like. And then I downloaded an app and the app is basically tracking uh, how much, uh like when I eat, when I eat food, how much where my glucose levels spike, and so this, this right here, is just showing like where you know just where my as like so there's a graph that shows the ups, ebbs and flows now.

Speaker 2:

So when you can't see, this as a listener, but it's just it all in the green zone yeah now I ate kashi cereal. Two days ago, yeah, just because I knew it would spike my blood sugar. I didn't know how much it shot really no, you think it is, it's not.

Speaker 1:

Um well, it's again I'd like to see what it does with alcohol and stuff I did it with.

Speaker 2:

I drank alcohol. I went to a party on Saturday night, had like three Jack and Cokes and they were not Coke Zeros either. No spike really. I was like, oh my god alcohol loves me, yeah, but. Kashi cereal with almond milk boo. It was shot off the charts and then it crashed. That's so crazy and like 30 minutes later it like crashed down.

Speaker 1:

Do you notice it now? Does that make sense? Like when you do it where you're like man, I'm kind of like hitting a downtime or like have the sugar high? Yeah, you can. I mean, you know it's a little bit react.

Speaker 2:

You can look back and kind of see what happened. But it's been really interesting to just kind of like watch what happens and where my kind of baseline, like fasted levels, are, and then where it gets up to. And then just playing around with different foods.

Speaker 1:

Is that kind of like what a whoop is? No, not at all.

Speaker 2:

Whoop is more heart rate and heart rate variability and trying to use basic kind of biomarkers from like and and heat and things like that to determine your like, your rest and recovery and that kind of stuff. Uh, and, by the way, my personal opinion is like whoop and the aura ring they claim to be super like accurate, but they're not. Yeah, but people can go down rabbit holes, we're like oh, my god, my hrv is super low. I can't work out today.

Speaker 2:

I'm like they'll work out like unless you're like running seven days a week and working like super stressed out high cortisol, like you're probably, like you know there may be some truth to it, but you know like a lot of times it's just it, it's just cause it just can't read enough times in, like you know, moment to moment, to give you a true heart rate variability. So it's trying to do it with these little blips throughout the day, and those can be really accurate or not very accurate, yeah, so anyway, that's cool man. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Why did you do it again, like just because I was?

Speaker 2:

so I have a group of ladies at the WU hotel that I train, and Cindy at Evergrande Health is going to do a lunch for them and they're all going to get one and get to wear it for a couple weeks and kind of experience it, and so I was going to be the guinea pig for the group just to show them what it's about and that kind of thing.

Speaker 1:

So anyway, it's a cool thing.

Speaker 2:

But it's interesting how technology is helping us learn more about ourselves, our bodies, how we adapt to food, because everyone's different. What might send your blood sugar way high is not necessarily what's going to have the same effect on me. Rice has almost no effect on me and that's tends to be a big trigger for people like eating rice and you know like white rice can spike.

Speaker 1:

I just ate. I just went to a Mexican restaurant and I had a. You know, what I love to do is take rice and beans. You know the refried beans, mix it up, dip chips in it, perfect, there's rice. That's what made me think of it, the rice guy. Well, I love it, man, that's really cool.

Speaker 2:

I like it Well hey, this is the episode that comes out right before Christmas, so I feel like we have to say a nice little thing about Christmas and the New Year, because we're going to take a week off. We're not going to put an episode on Christmas day or the day after Christmas, so there'll be a little bit of a of a break between now and new year's. So I say we, uh, we, we have, you know, put out a nice message here. I love that.

Speaker 1:

Well, I hope everybody has a great um a great holiday. Be safe, enjoy family. Don't get stressed out Like it's such a stressful season. Just enjoy the chaos that is Christmas. And when you go and you go have a new year's party uh, don't drink and drive sensible, oh uh we did a white elephant give with our friends and I got a breathalyzer.

Speaker 2:

Perfect.

Speaker 1:

If you want to have some lots of whiskey cigar pack and breathalyzer. Yeah, we know. Yeah, what's Mitch's problem? That's great. A selfish Cigar pack and breathalyzer. Yeah, we know what Mitch is all about. That's great. And a selfish lover.

Speaker 2:

Just to bring it back to our friend.

Speaker 1:

Mitch here, bring it all back.

Speaker 2:

All right. My two cents is you know, if you're somebody who works out and like Mitch or myself, whether you're like really like locked in or like trying to be, yeah, don't underestimate the importance of stopping and just just really I mean really like the 24th, 25th, 26th, like those are just days to be at home with your family or like with the people you love, and just just relax, just just. You know we there's so many things to do. There's very few days in the entire year. We're literally nothing's open, nothing to do. Yeah, can't go to the gym anyway.

Speaker 1:

A lot of football.

Speaker 2:

There's a lot of football, a lot of basketball too. Watching tv great, like you know drinking, eating having. But like the idea is just like, just stop, yeah, Turn your brain off, Go enjoy yourself, Relax, Because that for a lot of people that is just as important.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, as going to the gym or as going for that run, you know, and it's just like finding those moments of like, just peace and quiet. That's good, and family and connection, because we are very like our, you know, our nervous system for a lot of people is go, go, go go, you know, and it's like we're, you know, that's kind of how we move around and their batteries. It's kind of part of this, you know, like fight or flight nervous system that's like go, go, go.

Speaker 2:

We got to get this done. Do this and we we've forgotten how to stop and just chill. So have fun, enjoy your family, do your thing, enjoy the holidays, but also embrace that moment where there's nothing to do Watch TV Relax. Don't feel any pressure to do anything.

Speaker 1:

Just be with your people. I like that. Well, I see what you were saying Do some advice that goes around with what we do. I get that.

Speaker 2:

So the fitness and the rest of it. Hey, Mitch, yours is perfect. Man, Just let it be. It was great.

Speaker 1:

Well, merry Christmas to everyone. Happy holidays, happy New Year. We'll see you after Christmas.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, I want one little thing.

Speaker 1:

I love how. I love how because I want to get a little controversial here.

Speaker 2:

I love how, like you know, you walk into somebody like, hey, merry Christmas. And they're like oh yeah, you can say that. Now you can say that again. I'm like what like you can say anything you want. I don't care like happy holidays. Merry Christmas.

Speaker 1:

But like it's funny that like there's this, like people felt at some point like they couldn't say merry christmas and now because not everybody celebrates christmas, I know and like, well, happy holidays, I like, for the sake of like it wraps everything, yeah, new year and stuff, and you could put your birthday in there as part of the happy holidays.

Speaker 2:

So when you say happy holidays, just know you're representing. You're saying happy holidays to mitch it's like because his birthday is connected to christmas and years people that keep christ in Christmas.

Speaker 1:

you know, Don't put the X. The X-mas used to be a thing.

Speaker 2:

In the conservative Christian world that I lived in, it was like that was a thing you don't put an X because you got to keep Christ in Christmas, but I think it's a good reminder.

Speaker 1:

Just to kind of talk about serving, we have this little manger at our house that has straw and there's a pile of straw next to it, and the idea is, every time we eat dinner together we talk about ways that we served others, and for each service that you do, you put a straw piece of straw in the manger for Jesus, you know. So he has a nice bed, so the goal is to have all the straw in there, a nice fluffy bed for baby Jesus. If we serve the first year, we did it for straws work in progress last year it was better six.

Speaker 1:

But the problem was we had cleaning ladies that would come in and they'd take all the straw that was sitting next to it and put it in the main, so we'd have to start over every time. It was the whole thing. So I think, it's a good time to really reflect. I I think let's just all take a step back and really look at what's next and how we, how we can bring our families together and work together as a, as a group, I mean I want to make america healthy again dude robert f talk about controversy.

Speaker 1:

There you go um one last thing.

Speaker 2:

Uh, one of the things I noticed, we were driving out looking at christmas lights yeah and there's more mangers in the christmas displays than I've ever experienced. My son actually found it.

Speaker 1:

It was spotted he's like look, baby jesus, that's awesome.

Speaker 2:

And then he's like oh, there's another one, and like so a lot more people, I think, in just this year specifically. You know they're doing a big christmas you know like light out front with like uh the grinch and yeah santa. But they're also putting like a little cardboard like jesus in the main nativity scene. Yeah, that's kind of like an homage to the big guy oh man, yeah, it's a good.

Speaker 1:

I think it's a good time, man, man, I'm excited for this year. I think 2025 even I'm excited for. I'm always optimistic, but I can tell you that year 39 and 2024 sucked for me.

Speaker 2:

Wow.

Speaker 1:

It was pretty awful. We can talk about it after Christmas and I'll tell you all about how much it sucked.

Speaker 2:

You know what came out of this year, though. What this? Dad bods and dumbbells, dad bods and dumbbells, dad bods and dumbbells. It's been fun man.

Speaker 1:

I really enjoyed hanging out with you every week and I enjoy talking and talking about myself. It's been really cool. I'm very thankful for it. I'm thankful for you.

Speaker 2:

Thank you, man, I appreciate that I think a lot of people have learned more about you than ever before because of this podcast.

Speaker 1:

The funny thing is, I'm hiding a lot more.

Speaker 2:

Oh good, I can't wait until it all comes out.

Speaker 1:

I'll give you a lot of secrets. We'll bring a box of tissue. The key that I've always found is, if you seem like you're oversharing, people think you share, but I actually don't tell anything about me.

Speaker 2:

It's all just facade, it's all just facade.

Speaker 1:

Baby. How do you think I skated through life 40 years? This is how I did it. I'm imagining your brother rolling his eyes right now. My brother gets it. He gets it, he gets it, he understands. He gets me more than anybody.

Speaker 2:

I love that guy. All right, there it is. He loves his brother. Merry Christmas. I'm not going to comment on that, keep.

Speaker 1:

Christ in Christmas. Happy holidays, happy New Year. Love you, love you guys.
