Welcome to Dad, bods and Dumbbells. My name is Mitch.
Speaker 2:Hey, I'm Bart.
Speaker 1:Thanks so much for listening, liking, subscribing and sharing. We are so glad you're here. Big thanks to Solutions Pharmacy. They are our sponsor of the show. They've helped with hair loss, weight loss and any issues you have in the bedroom. They are discreet and we would love for you to use them, because we use them as well.
Speaker 2:Not the bedroom stuff, but you know whatever.
Speaker 1:It's solutions for us and it'll help you as well. Thank you, guys, so much for listening Today's show. We are going to recap a little bit about what we've been up to these last couple of weeks.
Speaker 2:Definitely, definitely. First of all, I think we should start off with the fact that you got some numbers from the Powerlifting America website on on you and me and because we're masters uh, yeah I'm masters two, you're masters one. This is masters two is 50 plus, you're 40 plus. So give us some of that information on on what that, what it looked like.
Speaker 1:So I texted you your numbers, but it looks like bart is number two in the state of Texas in his division, masters 2.
Speaker 2:Number two, top two, unbelievable Top two.
Speaker 1:For me I'm a little less impressive. Mine for Masters 1 is top eight in the state of Texas.
Speaker 2:Top eight, top eight. Well, you got a lot more people in your division than actually in the sport.
Speaker 1:Still, but here's the crazier part. You talk about the whole US of A, in the entire nation. I am 44th in the entire nation. I believe you were in almost the teens.
Speaker 2:I think I was 20th 20th.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you were almost there, If you would have gotten like five kilograms more you would have done it.
Speaker 2:That bench fail. That bench got me too dude, it killed me.
Speaker 1:Anyway, so we are now nationally ranked.
Speaker 2:I love it. Congrats. So we're. This podcast is called the nationally ranked pod dad buzzing dumb changing my instagram profile right now as we speak all right, so let's move on from that, but that was, that was a fun realization that I was, and I was in newport beach, california um seeing family just hanging out on the beach, got to teach my son and my niece and nephew how to surf.
Speaker 1:Oh dude, that's cool, unbelievable. Did they get up and stuff and enjoy it? Yeah, they were just like immediately like got it. Of course. These kids, man, they're amazing, crazy.
Speaker 2:So that was amazing. That was a big highlight for me, do you have any videos of it?
Speaker 1:I'd love to see you surfing.
Speaker 2:I, I didn't surf, I just cause it was really about like we just rented these you know big foam boards and they've got you know I push them into the wave and they stand up and ride it in.
Speaker 1:That's cool. Yeah, it was awesome man.
Speaker 2:But I I did a lot of boogie boarding, bought some swim fins so I could really get out there and just like tear it up. That's fun. I'm going to MIA for a little bit. Yeah, I missed you?
Speaker 1:Yeah, me too, but I was in New York with a big city media tour with Go One More.
Speaker 2:Nick.
Speaker 1:Baer's book. That came out June 24th, on Tuesday, all right and within an hour. So we were in New York City together doing this media tour. We went to a Google event that he got invited to do it's called Brand Experience and he was like the keynote speaker. It was awesome. I got word that we had sold out and I was like, oh, I'm going to do this, I'm going to do this, I'm going to do this, I'm going to all platforms, so Amazon, barnes and Noble Books A Million, all the places that you could ever buy a book. We had completely sold out within an hour of our launch. So great news we sold out.
Speaker 1:Bad news was we didn't have any more copies so they did an urgent print. Now we have I think they just sent out our last 3,000 copies at the distribution center. We have over 30,000 copies out there. So today we find out where he's at with the list where BookScan releases there in the Wednesday evening really to determine how many audiobooks sold, because we can only see Amazon. Everything else is held through BookScan, so we'll really get to see the true number. So really excited because that means that we'll know if he's on the New York Times bestselling list or not. So all this work we've put into, especially him, into trying to promote it and get it done like we'll- find out.
Speaker 2:So shout out to him Like he. Uh, he was on the Gabby Reese show. Uh, as I'm sure as well as many others, but uh, my, my wife listens to Gabby. Reese and she's married to Laird Hamilton and she's got her own podcast.
Speaker 2:But she she's obviously a professional athlete, former beach volleyball player, but so she's really good at interviewing, but she always gets into kind of the heart of a person, like their kind of relationship with their spouse and kids and all that kind of stuff and he did a great job at really, you know, giving the whole story and like all those kind of other pieces of his personality, not just the athlete and the kind of mindset which I think, uh, you know, it's to me that seems like something that he's really developed and kind of learned how to, how to just be better at communicating, you know. Yeah, it's good I think.
Speaker 1:I think it's. You can see it because he started youtube and he's been on for 10 years and you can go back and see those first initial YouTubes to where he's where he is. It's like night and day. But when I first talked to him three years ago, two and a half years ago, um, he had like 700,000 followers and now he's and I knew he was going to be huge. You know, it was like one of those things was like this guy is gonna be the guy and now he's like a million and a half followers and he's gonna be over two million soon, because the exposure of this book has put him in different. He's been on so many different shows that he normally wouldn't have been on, right, um, and something that he normally would, um. So, and there's still more coming out, so a ton of podcasts. Um, he's going on gary brekka's podcast soon in mi, miami. So there's just going to be a lot more. It's not stopping.
Speaker 2:So the train is moving. That's great. I mean because when the book's about to come out, you want to get on those pods.
Speaker 1:It's more important when the book is already out and people can go out and buy it immediately. It's super cool.
Speaker 2:yeah, that's so often how I'll find out about a book. It's like someone's on a pod and you're like listening to it. You're like, oh, I love this guy. Oh, he's got a book, I'm like click, yeah, absolutely you buy it.
Speaker 1:Same way Get an audio book, get a hard copy. So it's interesting, we went to Book People in Austin. And they had some. You know it was a limited number. It was their entire stock and he had posted on his story. Hey, I'm heading to book people to sign some things. We got word the next, like that evening, that he sold 250 books just from that story. And so we had to go back and it would be like 300 books we had to go back and sign.
Speaker 2:Right.
Speaker 1:And that I mean just shows the impact of how people want to be a part of a community like that Like it's. It's different. It's a different style.
Speaker 2:You see more and more at the gym like the go one more shirt or hat or something like that. Just like the, the brand and that, like that vibe around, like you know that effort and just like mindset. I'm wearing one of my go.
Speaker 1:One more hat. It's a shirt. It's a little different. It's a kind of a cool vintage vibe. Stay in the fight he hooked me up with some BPN stuff. So I'm going to be only wearing those forever. So it was a great experience. Man, I'm excited.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm excited for you.
Speaker 1:Cause this is, this is a big deal for you as a, because you're kind of big fish. This is what we do. This is why we do, man, this is why we do, and hopefully the next year, two years, it'll really just explode into something even bigger, which it will? Yeah, I had a really cool thing happen.
Speaker 2:I got hired to be a kind of fitness model for the store Okay, the store, hyper Wellness, they needed a 45-plus guy.
Speaker 1:Let me be clear Masters 2? For wellness, they needed a 45 plus guy. Let me be clear masters two, yeah, basically they're like we need a masters two, no guys. So anyway, that's cool, uh.
Speaker 2:So and it was like two day shoot.
Speaker 1:We were over at lyft atx yes, it's like getting a whole bunch of video of me. When does that stuff come out?
Speaker 2:uh, I don't know. It's gonna be on our website and it's a it's a. It's a nationwide company and it's franchised and so there's. But so a lot of the stuff will be like used for the website, used for like promotions, you know, using the red light therapies your short list you know boots and IV drip and all it, just all the things they have a they have a video of me coming out of the cryo chamber, like from below, with the lights off and all the like.
Speaker 2:You know the the smoke yeah the, the evaporated ice comes out, and then you see me walk out with like, with just a robe on and like and it looks like the terminator.
Speaker 1:It literally looks like full monty I mean they're, they're.
Speaker 2:It was just so fun because I really haven't done. You know, I was was an actor in New York and I've done some stuff with Iron Neck and stuff like that, but this was very different, it was just. It was just I felt so at ease and it was so much fun to do and they were just loving everything I was putting out there and the whole it was a great vibe so I was like it really made me realize that like I want to do more of it, you know, and I was thinking about, like you know, just going to find an agent in, in, you know, austin, and just for, for local type stuff.
Speaker 1:I got a guy, there you go Brian Schmansky.
Speaker 2:Let's go.
Speaker 1:He was the. He was the Versace model for 10 years for their cologne. So he's in all their campaigns and now he's doing an independent thing.
Speaker 2:I'll introduce you. Perfect yeah.
Speaker 1:That's great man. I'm so pumped. Was it a paying gig? Oh yeah, oh yeah and.
Speaker 2:I negotiated it up.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you did. I got a triple what they were offering. That's great.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it was a great experience. And shout out to my friend Howard, who he worked with Camp Gladiator. He was the CMO for a little bit there and he's now the CMO there at Restore Hyper Wellness.
Speaker 1:So he was like he was my guy, that's so cool. He was like let's go, You're going to get more and more stuff like that. You're just freaking, crushing it out here yeah.
Speaker 2:The team that was there doing it like they had hired a production team and they work out of Austin in LA and they were like we can't wait to work with you again. That's awesome we even did pickleball Nice. Went to the East Austin Pickleball Club.
Speaker 1:Dude, that's so cool and it was just playing pickleball, it was just.
Speaker 2:the whole thing was good vibes.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I'll hook you up with Brian. He's a cool dude. Yeah, you'll like him.
Speaker 2:Awesome. What do you got coming up in the?
Speaker 1:next couple weeks Vegas with my best buddy, jesse. We're meeting up there talking business, but then I love gambling. You know I said I'd never go back to Vegas the last time I went, so I'm going back to Vegas for a few days. My kids have camps.
Speaker 2:You've got to go see F1. I haven't seen it yet, the movie F1.
Speaker 1:Dude I haven't seen any of my favorite. I want to see Ballerina, the John Wick.
Speaker 2:Of course, quick, of course. I want to see the f1 movie because, freaking brad pitt, do you know he was in austin for a view of it and I totally missed it?
Speaker 1:did you're gonna tell me you were invited to that and you didn't go I didn't go dang man we, we should be invited to that crap what is going on.
Speaker 2:Well, when we we know we'll have gotten a little bit deeper into our world of like austin, you know kind of stuff if, when we start to get those, in yeah, we're not there yet.
Speaker 1:Okay, I would be like, no, I'm good, I'm good, brad Pitt surprise, surprise everybody by showing up.
Speaker 2:It wasn't on the.
Speaker 1:I know, but see, I would have. I would have been the guy that turned it down and I'm sitting front row with Brad Pitt, yeah.
Speaker 2:I think my wife would have been more disappointed to not see Brad Pitt than me. Dude freaking, I don't know you're, I don't know you're kind of a. You crush it on Pitt. He's so handsome, he's a badass.
Speaker 1:He's 60 years old. I mean, come on, dude.
Speaker 2:I watched the. My wife and I have been watching the Dax Shepard interview with Brad.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, I've been, I'm gonna listen to that too.
Speaker 2:Dax is so funny because he yeah. Anyway, well, let's wrap up. We talked about just doing a quick 12-minute check-in.
Speaker 1:Yeah, because we're traveling in and out and it's nice just to see you and catch up, yeah yeah. So we got some stuff coming up and we got to do some community stuff. I'm looking to do another powerlifting show pretty soon.
Speaker 2:Powerlifting competition Are you going to do the one in July?
Speaker 1:I don't think so. So because I have to do the ipa thing. It's just different, different. So but I'm staying like today I lifted. I'm staying consistent. My strength's getting up there. I need to buy another 45 plate, because I'm repping out 420s on squat now and deadlift and anyway. So it's been going great. My, my bench is not going up. Yeah, it's.
Speaker 2:It's been sad well that your bench is only going to go up a fraction of what your deadlift and squat can go up.
Speaker 1:I'm feeling strong.
Speaker 2:I feel ready to go. I might have to cut weight again, though, anyway. All good, brother, it's good.
Speaker 1:Well, you have a good summer. We'll see you guys in another couple weeks. Of course we have new episodes, but we'll catch up a little bit after vacation.
