Welcome to Dad, bods and Dumbbells. My name is Mitch.
Speaker 2:Hey, I'm Bart.
Speaker 1:Thanks so much for listening, liking, subscribing and sharing. We are continuing to see growth in our networks and we're so grateful you guys are sharing it.
Speaker 2:What a great episode last week with Michael.
Speaker 1:Oh, my goodness, silver moose. I mean the silver metal moose not the silver moose, it's just an old gray moose.
Speaker 2:Silver metal moose Mike is the man old gray moose, silver metal moose, mike is the man, uh. But uh, man, that guy's fired up. He called and texted me so many times, like you're, telling me about how people had listened and they really loved it and all this and just wanted to do more and I just so much I want him involved.
Speaker 1:I love that guy man, he's, he's got that energy uh get his kids book out.
Speaker 2:Children's book?
Speaker 1:absolutely, we're gonna start. We've already started working on it. He gave me, sent me, an outline. It's cool, it's really good, it's gonna be great but he needs a good illustrator to work with.
Speaker 2:Oh, I have children's books. I have a perfect one for okay, it's gonna be great.
Speaker 1:So, yeah, love it. Mike's the bear, let's talk about our sponsors uh I'll take this one today.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's. Uh, it's our official sponsor, which is solutions pharmacy thank you, solutions pharmacy yeah, you know, uh, I'm actually going back to get, uh, my prescription. I actually shaved my head real because I I wanted to really see where that monkey butt, let's see it.
Speaker 1:Here you go.
Speaker 2:I can't see, you can't see it on the on that pod, but here I'm going to show it to him oh, that's not bad so, but, 50 year old man hair. Yeah, so I just, I did a real shortcut today and I'm like you know let know.
Speaker 1:let it fly Before and after.
Speaker 2:I'm not going to like leave a little extra of hair up there to kind of like over. I'm just letting it be. But anyway, I've got a little bit more of that coming and then you know, you've got the PB stuff for your, for your. Oh no, that you're not, that's not you, okay.
Speaker 1:I confused on that. Mine's the hair stuff too. Bart, you got the hair stuff. I'm wearing a hat today, but I feel like it's thicker, fuller. It really is. My baby hairs are starting to grow in that's awesome.
Speaker 2:I'm out. I've, I need. I'm out, I need to get a new tube. Oh, you're out. I gotta get to. He didn't come out. He's out.
Speaker 1:No, I have not, uh, yeah, so the hair thing has been a lifesaver man yeah, and you got a new earring on your left side of your ear, which in the 80s would mean something. Today it just means you love Jesus. No, on the left side. No, the right side is the gay side.
Speaker 2:Oh well, In the 80s it was any side. No, I guess that's true.
Speaker 1:Yeah, Any side In Palo Alto.
Speaker 2:Davis.
Speaker 1:Davis know, cross, thanks. No, it's a, it's a dagger. Oh, it's a. Oh, you're right, it's a dagger. Everybody thinks it's a cross.
Speaker 2:So I had my wife pierce my ear.
Speaker 1:She does this as a party trick. I do so if I like going out with friends, I'll pierce my ear. See if anybody notices. Well, I had a long-term plan because I went to vegas last week. I wanted to get a dice hanging from it. So she did all the research but she said, hey, you got to get your ear purse like two weeks before, otherwise it's getting all infected. Because it usually gets really infected, I have to pull it out. Yeah, uh, yeah, it's super gross. So she pierced it like two weeks before I left for vegas and you didn't notice it. Last, with mike's podcast, I had one daddy never saw.
Speaker 2:You didn't even see it. Well, to be fair, you were turned sideways facing Mike. You don't care, it's okay.
Speaker 1:And Mike didn't say anything, he did look at it a couple times, I saw his eyes anyway. Uh, so she got this cool set and it's this, this die that's hanging yeah but there comes accessories. There's a feather which I love I like a little like bronze feather and then this dagger. Yeah well, I put the dice on. It is so heavy.
Speaker 1:It hurts so badly, I wore it all through Vegas just because I was playing dice games. But when I got back I was like dang, this is super bad-ass. After a couple of weeks of looking at myself I'm like I don't know if I can live without a dangly.
Speaker 2:Hey, everything you said right there I agree with, except for the dangling part. So real just circle back solution pharmacy check out on our show notes there's information uh, they've got semi-glutides. They now have some moreland.
Speaker 1:Uh, peptide there, you can get uh peptides are hot, get them while they're hot, man, get them while they're hot before they get canceled.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, no, but anyway uh, lots of good stuff over there, including including pee pee medicine you know for your erectile dysfunction. If that's your thing.
Speaker 1:Hey, it's all good, Don't worry, nobody has to know. Anyway, all that's happening and yours is getting delivered right.
Speaker 2:Yeah, you can get it delivered.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so I'm getting mine just delivered.
Speaker 2:tomorrow they do that. I think it's like a $5 fee, but it's great.
Speaker 1:It's on the way home, I'll just grab it.
Speaker 2:It's out of my way completely, so I don't like to drive into Dripping. Oh, but now I'm going to do three things that really make me happy that are not sponsors.
Speaker 1:Yeah, Two of them are here in the no free shout-outs man. Well, I'm feeling the love right now Okay, so one of them you probably heard about am a fan of ghost yeah, hell, yeah.
Speaker 2:You got me addicted to those things you know and it's funny because you know you when you drink energy drinks, there's always somebody who's like decide like, hey, you know, those aren't good for you, right? And I'm like I'm gonna die on that cross yeah, that's what I say.
Speaker 1:I'm like you know I I got a good ghost is good man uh, these are actually.
Speaker 2:Uh, it was bought out. The company was bought out by the. The uh dr pepper uh even better dude, so the distribution is now kind of everywhere. They got all these different flavors, so here's my top three flavors I want to hear anyone so hard to get uh lemonade iced tea that's so good, really hard to get. Uh, that's the lemon. Lemonade iced tea is the best one. Okay, second is peaches what? All right, and they made this during the final four, during, like March Madness, it came out looking like a basketball.
Speaker 1:Because it was in.
Speaker 2:Atlanta, peaches, yeah, atlanta, or whatever, and now it's one of their normal brands or number of flavors. And then, third would be the grape, the Welch's grape, which is everywhere.
Speaker 1:You rank that higher than welch's grape. Yes, dang, I know I've gotten two people hooked on these things because of welch's grape. Dude. I'm gonna try peaches on my way home, dude yeah, all right.
Speaker 2:So next one is david. Not even like an s, just david david, like king david, david and glenn. Yeah, king david right, uh, 28 grams of protein, zero sugar, 150 total calories. And they got a lot of cool flavors.
Speaker 1:Where can you get them?
Speaker 2:And they're not all just like chocolate, like peanut butter. There's like a lot of like cake batter. This one's blueberry pie, you can get them at like Los Compañanos has them all over the place, oh yeah. But also online. I got Prime Week when they did the Amazon Prime.
Speaker 1:Week.
Speaker 2:I got a box of them for that. They're starting to show up in different places. I haven't seen them at H-E-B yet how do they taste compared to Quest Bars? I cannot eat a Quest Bar. It will blow me up. My stomach will go crazy for Quest Bars.
Speaker 1:These are really chill on the stomach.
Speaker 2:28 grams is a lot, a lot of protein.
Speaker 1:That's great.
Speaker 2:You know you eat two of those. It's about 56. So you really you're like that's for big guys like you.
Speaker 1:What if I just eat four of them? Just get all my protein. At some point you'll probably just start blowing ass and your wife will divorce you. She's going to eat 100.
Speaker 2:So those are my two kind of non-sponsors. That's awesome. No fake shout. My third thing is a song I love to play when I work out is Got the Time by Anthrax. Oh, yeah, yeah yeah, one of the only like thrash metal songs that I just like you get excited. I cannot, is it?
Speaker 1:a pre, is it like, as you're leading into the first lift? No, it's like during my heavy squat or deadlift.
Speaker 2:Yeah, just in there, I go to it and I put it on. It's like during my, during my heavy squat or deadlift. Yeah, just in there, I just I go to it and I put it on. It's like. It's like pre-workout dude, that's awesome there you go.
Speaker 1:Are you still taking pre-workout direct?
Speaker 2:yeah, no water, just throw it in the mouth, dude. That was the craziest thing I've ever seen up my nose I got it all over my nose that one time. It really did look bad. I usually like put in my mouth and like, like have some on my chest, like cause, it just falls.
Speaker 1:I coughed immediately after, just everywhere. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Anyway, okay, let's, let's dive in man.
Speaker 1:Yeah, it's been a crazy couple weeks. Obviously in Texas we've been like devastated by the floods, which is awful, and I know a lot of people that have been directly impacted lost friends, lost family members, no-transcript, um, but it's just devastating to see so, uh, thoughts and T's and P's out to uh everybody that's been affected by it. Uh, it affects us all and honestly, I've been texted by everybody that I grew up in the Midwest Like are you okay, everything okay. It's like dang if you didn't live by a river, you know one of the one of the rivers. You're really not directly affected obviously friends and family and issues like that. But, man, anything you can do to help I think it's a positive. So keep them in your thoughts and prayers for sure.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I agree, you know, and that's the interesting thing is, you could be so safe two hours away and like I mean, I was like going to the gym and not like there was nothing in Austin.
Speaker 1:That like was it was rainy yeah.
Speaker 2:But you know what, and I? I didn't even think about it, but it was like to people that don't live in Texas, it's all just seems like Austin.
Speaker 1:Oh, yeah, like central test.
Speaker 2:Texas has been ravaged by floods and, like all they think is like, oh, austin's flooding.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Right and it's like, and so just perspective. I just didn't even think about it but I posted like we're fine here, I'm going to the gym and then, like all the comments were like, so sad about the children, and I'm just like oh. I'm a horrible human being.
Speaker 1:Yeah, like I'm, I'm making it, don't worry.
Speaker 2:Yeah, like going to help, but like you know, I what I didn't realize is just that like, yeah, like it's awful man they just see that you know it was yeah, but I mean it's just hard to like. What do you do? You got to kind of continue your life. But yeah, you know you're.
Speaker 1:I mean it's just it was brutal but there I mean, I think anytime there's any disaster relief or anytime, like everybody comes around the community in the first week of everything happening, the issue isn't the first week, the issue is weeks and months later. Is these people still dealing with loss, not just loss of family, but loss of structures? A lot of these people they're not rich living on the river. I mean a lot of those places aren't like super nice. So people have been lost everything and probably lost family members or life in that. And so there's even the richest of rich are affected, the poorest of poor are affected. And then what's crazy to me is to see how many people are still missing that they just don't know. So it took a week for people to be like hey, haven't heard from grandma and grandpa. I have many friends that RV. It's not like I check up on them like, hey, where are you RVing tonight?
Speaker 2:You know like a lot of people that like RV, like they kind of like being off the grid, so you don't necessarily know where they are.
Speaker 1:It takes weeks for them to figure out a family member. Be like wait, I haven't heard from them for a while. And that's even crazier to think that there's 200 people. Yeah, it's, it's. It's probably only going to rise. I think the biggest thing to remember in this space is it's not right now. Yes, we want to do everything we can. I think there's a ton of money going in, which is great, a ton of a ton of supplies, which is awesome. The big thing is what? What about next month? How are we going to help? How we going to support? Because it takes a long time, like we experienced with the wimberley floods, uh, 12 years ago. It just takes forever to get all that stuff taken care of.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and so my neighbors across the street have a house. They were there during the floods no, that's why they only lost power and water and, just like you know, electricity, uh-huh uh and their neighbors would come, came to their house to, like you know, electricity uh-huh. And their neighbors would come, came to their house to, like you know, get away from the wow, because they were, they were just, they were just high, just high enough, where like the water came up to like their doorstep but not in the house.
Speaker 2:But I I asked them specifically like because a lot of my clients were asking like who should we donate to? Because every business in austin was like whoa come work out.
Speaker 1:We'll donate All the money's going or part of the money's going, and so they said this is just for people listening who want to know.
Speaker 2:They said specifically this is from somebody who actually has a house in Kerrville Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. They help communities in Hunt, ingram, kerrville, centerpoint and Comfort and so that's specifically. Say it again so it's Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. Good, all right. So Google that If you're trying to donate, that's going to get it directly to the people that need it.
Speaker 1:That's good. That's good to know. Yeah, I think we all go naturally to the Red Cross because that's the national thing and they do a lot of good stuff, but 80% just goes to the Red Cross and 20 goes, unfortunately. Yeah, that's how these big, these big organizations have to right. You get it more than most you know been a part of those too. So well, thoughts and prayers to them. Um, it's, it's unique that we get to the opportunity to be in a central part of Texas, but also we can help. So help if you can, can, uh, use your body, your time, your energy or your money. It's good yeah.
Speaker 2:Cool. Um, we, we talked about something a little earlier. Um, I wanted to. Oh, uh, working out.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you know. So post powerlifting competition where are you at now? What are you doing?
Speaker 2:Well, you know, this is, this is. This was always kind of a challenge, like the transition, what, what to do next? Uh, do you do? I keep going? Like do I just kind of, like you know, I kind of fell in love with, with heavy lifting and that kind of pursuit.
Speaker 1:Did you fall in love with it?
Speaker 2:I think so on some level. You know, I really respect it and I I, you know, know there's part of me that wants to keep pushing. I think I'm doing that a little bit more with bench than with some of the other stuff. But one thing I have done is I've added in standing shoulder press like uh overhead press as like one of my major upper body movements. Uh, what kind of weight you're pushing as a plate on each side, dude?
Speaker 1:135.
Speaker 2:Yeah, damn, yeah, that's pretty good so I mean, yeah, I mean it took a bit to get you know, because you're not used to your the balance.
Speaker 1:And at one point I got lightheaded because like you know, you're holding all this weight over your head and you're like all your body's trying to stabilize and I rack it and I'm
Speaker 2:like oh, crap, um, but you know, I the main thing I just like this has been my big thing with, like legs specifically, I've just kind of pulled away from deadlifts and squats, not that I don't do a version of them, I just I don't want to, you know, just have lingering back pain like that. So I've just gotten it to really like much more volume, hitting like just inner, outer thighs. I was doing like Bulgarian split squats today, um pendulum, uh squats, um seated leg curl, uh inner, you know, inner thigh, outer adductors, things like that Um sled push, sled pull, nice, just a lot of volume. Where do you?
Speaker 2:do that at At Copenhagen they volume. Where do you do that? At the copayanas they have the sled. Yeah, it's actually a one of those like tank, like like uh it's, it's got big wheels you put plates on it, oh, okay, different resistance.
Speaker 1:You can put the, like you know, the brake that's really like pushing the tank the tank on the floor but anyway, just stuff like that.
Speaker 2:It's nice to change it up, definitely. Like you know, I I kind of have this rule that like if I'm doing leg day I need to be lightheaded or nauseous at least twice. And I definitely did that today. Especially when I would do this super set of inner thigh, outer thigh and then sled push at the end. And by the time I'm pulling that sled back to where I started, my head is just like woo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo like spinning that's crazy.
Speaker 1:Good for you. Good for you. Do do, do, do, do do do do do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do do do do do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do do do do.
Speaker 2:Break into more competition, let's try this david dang, that's good yeah the other good thing about it since it's not chocolate, my son doesn't have any interest in it he loves the bear bells because they're like all chocolate peanut and like the flavors are so tasty, he like wants to eat them every well, you're gonna have a bear bell that goes down easy, dude, yeah that goes down easy dude.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that goes down easy. He gave me some of the ghost peach too. I can say it. I don't know if I'd put it ahead of the grape. He got me hooked. It's only because I've drank so many grapes that I got a little bit tired of it. And this just has a nice. The peach has a nice kind of bite to it, uh huh, yeah, I see that. I tell you, go look for that lemonade iced tea. I'm gonna go, I'm gonna stop. I gotta stop and get some zen anyway. Perfect, um, sponsored by zen, uh, my, so I, my goal has been. So I have a couple goals in the future.
Speaker 1:I'm tired of not running a lot, so I've been running three miles at a time. If I don't, if I don't hit every day or every other day, I'm not like beating myself up for it, but I notice it, you know. So on tuesday I was like you know what? I woke up this in the morning and one of the things mike said on his on the pod was talking about how he journals everything. He was like look back, he'd see what he ate, he'd see what he his workout. And I was like the the day before I wrote him. So I grabbed my journal, because I have a ton of them, and I just wrote I'm going to run six miles tomorrow. And so I woke up and I was like I'm gonna do this and that was kind of the standard for forever was like just six miles a day, every day, um, and it's the first time I ran that kind of volume in probably three months since we started maybe four months since we started really power lifting and uh, it was brutal. The humidity was horrible. I mean, it was awful, but it was awesome. At the same time I was like I could do this every day. You know, it was like the first time. I was like I can do this every day if I needed to. And so I think for me, I really want to get back into running high volume, but I don't want to lose my strength.
Speaker 1:So, like this morning I woke up, my wife invites her friends over in the morning we talked about this they come over to our home gym and these girls they do three days a week lifting. It's awesome to see because it's a great way to. It's a great community, but it's also a great way to like have discipline. One of of our friends birthdays. She wanted to run six miles, and so they went to town lake together, you know, ran six miles. Yeah, like that's cool for your birthday, like that kind of stuff. I like that mentality. Um, and Stacy texted me. She's like hey, we're done with the bar and the rack, cause I needed to do squats and I went out there, man, like pressing up 400 pounds, it feels so good. You know, it's like I bench pressing 400 pounds.
Speaker 1:No, squat pushing. I wish I could. 400 would be the move. I'll get there. But you know, squatting 400 pounds and easy work, you know, all the way down, just like we did in powerlifting and going, this is fun, I like this. Yeah, the six miles was cool, but it wasn't. It didn't give me the feeling of like pressing that kind of weight, you know. And so for me, I'm kind of like I need to get a purpose, I need to get a probably trainer. I probably need to. I don't. Uh, you know, james would be a good pick. I'm just not great with the records. Yeah, I kind of need the person there. Yeah, kind of how you do it, you know, like I me sending a video is just I, I won't do it. Yeah, you know, it's just how I work. Or I really want to get back to lifting with you, like that was fun.
Speaker 2:There's a guy at copiano's I would. I think you should talk to. Yeah, this guy's named wolf. It's like john wolf love him already yeah, it's a lot of things, wolf, but uh yeah, we've just kind of become friends. He, he, um, and he's just a power lifter strong as hell, like overhead, pressing 250 really five is he on anything?
Speaker 1:no, he's like a 20 year.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I mean, he's just. He's just one of those big barrel, like you know, like he looks kind of like you after 15 years of powerlifting.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know like you can see that like he's put in the work, but anyway he's an interesting guy, he'd be a good guy to like chat with, yeah, anyway, but yeah, man, you know, it's interesting Like I look back at that journey of doing the show and just how much momentum we had and just the idea of doing it, which is interesting because this weekend is the Kodiak Strength.
Speaker 1:What this weekend is.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, it's this weekend.
Speaker 1:They posted on social media they're like hey, we need someone to sing the national anthem.
Speaker 2:And I put it in I'm like I'd love to, and they never responded to me.
Speaker 1:So that's crazy.
Speaker 2:It's this weekend yeah, I thought I'm gonna try to stop by.
Speaker 1:I got one client.
Speaker 2:I got one client that that Tiger.
Speaker 1:ATX set on Saturday I gotta cut weight.
Speaker 2:And then just, I just want to swing by and be like just watch a little bit it's so fun dude there, so also on on TV. I there was like the world powerlifting championships watching, that yeah dude. I wish I'd watched that before. We should have just watched video we would have like youtube, anything.
Speaker 1:We were dumb as hell we were like we're typical rookie lifters. Like oh, I didn't know like what?
Speaker 2:just watch a video anyway. So, uh, let's not bore people with all the powerlifting stuff. But yeah, I think it is fun to really have a goal because it just moves the momentum of your training. But anyway, I think I'd love to see you do another show again.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I'm definitely going. I'd love to come and support you. I appreciate that I'd love to get over 1,200. That's the goal and then, if I get, over.
Speaker 2:Did you get over 1100? Yeah? 11, 11, 50, I think it's totally 50 pounds, pretty, pretty reasonable for another show, just with like knowing what you know, and like I mean just even the squat.
Speaker 1:I I could. I could easily do 420 on squat right now. Yeah, um, I don't know if I can pull 500. I was adrenaline.
Speaker 2:Yeah and ghosted, I think you get the same. You think I get 500 again, you pull 500.
Speaker 1:I'd probably start with 430 rather than 400, just to make sure I was there. But I'm just realizing, too, the warmup that is necessary to get your.
Speaker 2:I've never warmed up before To get your body ready to be like, not dying it?
Speaker 1:actually helps. It's like I gotta do some warm-up reps before I pull the hot, the max reps, so yeah, yeah it's so, yeah, I'll probably do another one.
Speaker 1:For sure, I think, for me I'd really like to do the Austin Marathon, so I really need to start ramping up getting base miles again. I'd like to go for a PR. So I think I'm more thinking time now. It's like I'm not going to fuck around with like yeah, I might have a drink while I'm out there, you know, but not like I'm going to drink every drink that's offered to me, like every year I've done it.
Speaker 2:It was a fun goal. It was a fun goal and I did it.
Speaker 1:It made me feel horrible about myself, and so now I really will, I think.
Speaker 2:I'm going to push pretty hard in Austin to see if I can't break four hours Awesome and then still maintain my powerlifting weight. Speaking of Austin, ut Austin football seven weeks away.
Speaker 1:Hey college, oh, you got season tickets, season tickets.
Speaker 2:Damn dude, you and your family should get tickets to the first game, okay. And then we'll all just do a big, tailgate, go down early, listen to the concert, okay. And then we'll all just like do a big. Like, uh, tailgate, go down early, listen to the concert. Like, just do a whole big.
Speaker 1:I don't know if you want to tailgate like I tailgate baby I mean, you can have your kids there. If you can tailgate like that, you're problematic I mean they're older, I'll be fine yeah, they'll remember everything you do that's fine with me, I uh, but I mean, it would be.
Speaker 2:It's going to be epic. I mean, I think the first game is like Mississippi State or someone not very good.
Speaker 1:Man, arch, arch, start. No, it's Ohio State. It's Ohio State. It's a big one.
Speaker 2:Never mind, you probably won't be able to get tickets to that one.
Speaker 1:Dude, you got tickets to it. You should just sell your tickets. You get so much money for those. Yeah, they're probably in good spot too, because I know you're a bougie, you're a bougie.
Speaker 2:You're a bougie bitch, oh man uh.
Speaker 1:So yeah, ut football's coming, football's coming. It's exciting. I'm pumped and I'm so glad you're into it I feel, like I feel like I. You got me addicted to Ghost. You made me do a powerlifting competition. Now I want Bart to be able to talk college football.
Speaker 2:I'm ready to, to sound like I know what I'm talking about. You're gonna be there. I'm so close.
Speaker 1:You're gonna be like I don't know what they scored, but it was seven points and it was great, it was awesome no, I mean I know all the.
Speaker 2:it's not like I don't know the rules and all, because I used to watch football all during my childhood. Yeah, because I would it was like I was a.
Speaker 1:Niners fan no Chargers. I love the Chargers, Chargers back in the Chuck Muncy Freaking.
Speaker 2:Love the Chargers Kellen, winslow, they got to be going back, dan Fouts.
Speaker 1:They're going back to San Diego. It's going to be back, anyway, yeah, college football is coming, man, it's back.
Speaker 2:It's back, it's going to be epic.
Speaker 1:And pretty soon. What we should start doing is ranking Once you get comfortable. I want to get you comfortable.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 1:Is we really do need to challenge the top 10 every year, every week, to decide? Do we agree with this? Because there's rumors, man, my earring is like flopping around.
Speaker 2:It's hard it's very distracting.
Speaker 1:It is distracting, uh is are these rankings reality? Where do we rank arch? Because I really want to see how arch does. Yeah, he's gonna crush it. He's gonna crush.
Speaker 2:It's going to be a electric year so just to think your uncles are eli and peyton like how are you not getting the best advice? And, like you know, working on all your? I mean he's probably spent the whole last six months just working on all of his weaknesses oh, my goodness like you know just all the he's so quick oh man, it's gonna be electric dudes with Sark, sark finally comfortable.
Speaker 1:Oh, it's gonna be a great year. Now I hate UT. I hope they lose everything and I hope oregon is the reason.
Speaker 2:But all that? Are you gonna bet it all on oregon again?
Speaker 1:oh, you know I did do a bet so you can do live betting in vegas. So I was in vegas last week. Yeah, I lost it all. I'm not on a good streak right now. I'm hurting. Yeah, okay, I'm not great. But for my wife I was like I'm gonna give her a gift and that gift is to put a certain amount of money on the Packers to win it all this year she's a Packers man.
Speaker 1:She's a Packers fan and I was like I hope she loves it as much as I feel like she should. I mean, I put a significant amount of money on it and it's they're not favored right. So it's a decent amount of win where you'd be such a good win that you would go to Vegas to get it.
Speaker 2:Yeah Right, did you put any money on the Lakers to win it all?
Speaker 1:I don't think LeBron's going to be on the Lakers next year. You hear all those rumors.
Speaker 2:Well, they've just, they just. The Lakers just came out today and said we are not trading LeBron before the season, Before the training class. So it's, it's really more of like.
Speaker 1:I think it's going to be like trade deadline february.
Speaker 2:Like you know, if the team's under 500, it's not looking good for the playoffs. They're gonna try. Braun wants a. He wants an opportunity to play for a championship. You think he wants another one?
Speaker 1:hell yeah, he does he was acting like I just want to play with brawny. I just want to play with brawny I think it.
Speaker 2:it was the real deal, man 17 for how?
Speaker 1:amazing, would he? He was looking pretty good in a summer league. Oh, on the flight coming back, I'm at baggage claim.
Speaker 2:The entire Pacer squad ADHD listen podcast episode of all the entire listen to this.
Speaker 1:The entire Packers Pacers team was waiting in baggage claim with me. Nice, I knew most of their names because I watched the whole the finals and then knew their prospects. I talked to this guy, tyler. He was, uh, in 2024, he was the second round, but he was like 33, yeah, or 34, like top top seven, yeah, giant white guy. I was like how you feeling he? You feeling he's like I don't know, I go, are Pacers for you forever? And he's like I think my agent's been saying they might trade him. So I got some inside information for you, okay, maybe he's got a leg.
Speaker 2:This guy named Tyler, he might be good. He would be a huge process.
Speaker 1:He's like 6'10". All that to say, I would love to see LeBron go to the Mavs and see it all come full circle. Kyrie AD dude, how crazy would that.
Speaker 2:Cooper Flagg Vogel is the assistant coach.
Speaker 1:That's going to happen, dude, it was all setting up. It's like we're not going to give you any of that terrible trade for Luka.
Speaker 2:And then now lebron just goes over to the map and then they win the championship, then they win it all. Nobody remembers the luca trade ever again. Um, I mean, hey could happen nico's uh, so we're in we're in el paso flying back to austin. Um, there's a tall, thin, 50 something year old guy on the thing with a hat I'm like it looks a lot like Beto O'Rourke it was.
Speaker 1:Beto was on your flight. Beto was on the flight. I'm like good for Beto. Were you on Southwest, Southwest? What a communist Sat by himself in the exit row. Oh.
Speaker 2:One of the flight attendants got a photo with him, Dude Beto and.
Speaker 1:And then he slept there the whole flight, my wife is so excited. Beto's. He's an El Paso guy, oh yeah, oh my goodness, beto. I haven't thought about Beto in a while. I do. He's making a comeback. He's going to try to go to Senate again. We'll see how that goes.
Speaker 2:Maybe Texas will be so sick of you know, whatever.
Speaker 1:Ted Cruz? I think, yeah, he's the guy. I don't have an opinion.
Speaker 2:He was in Italy when the whole Kerrville floods were happening and people were like whoa, he's on vacation again and I'm like he didn't leave after the floods. Come on now. Now that's a little much. It's not like the ice apocalypse, where he's like everybody get on a private flight.
Speaker 1:We're leaving. Yeah, he's in.
Speaker 2:Italy on vacation during the 4th of July I, italy, on vacation during the 4th of July.
Speaker 1:I mean if I was an American? Us senator.
Speaker 2:I would stay in America during 4th of July and fly out on the 5th. Yeah, come on now, give me a break. It's a little weak.
Speaker 1:Okay. So for the first time in a very long time, my wife was like, hey, will you get fireworks? Because my nieces were in town from the Czech Republic. It was like a big deal and they said will you get fireworks for the 4th? It's like, listen, man, it's so unpredictable, Like these places, you never know what you're going to get. And I don't want to do anything big because these they don't know. I know how to deal with roaming candles and that crap, but it's like they always try to push the big ones on you.
Speaker 1:We're in my in-laws' neighborhood. I was like I'm just going to go small stuff. So I get this small pack of things. The first thing I do is they got these giant sparklers and I have my Zippo Boom, I'm lighting them up and it gets so hot. You can see my thumb here Burnt, the tip of my thumb off, just lighting sparklerslers. Should have known this was a bad deal. So I start like pulling a few things out. I'm pretty conservative because I've been hit by a couple fireworks in my life, a couple poo, poo, poo, cool, cool. Okay, all right, we'll do this next one, then we'll do this next one. There's this one that was like they'll shoot a couple up. It's like a six, six shooter. It's the size of a, like a matchbox, it's not huge. Yeah, the first one goes up, ooh cool. Second one shoots out the side at my nieces. Oh Jesus, I have to stomp on it before it explodes the niece or the firework.
Speaker 1:No, yeah Well, I pushed him out of the way.
Speaker 2:The Right right, Because the fire's at them. Then the other one shoots at.
Speaker 1:Like we had, like a friend come over, somebody's friend came over, hit their car blew up. Then the other one flew in the neighbor's yard, blew up, and I don't know where the fifth one went. Maybe the fifth one went straight up and it was beautiful, I don't know. I was around scrambling trying to get out any fire or issues.
Speaker 2:And everybody screaming and crying. And that was my fourth of july. I wish I was in italy, so we had friends coming to town and I had planned this whole thing like got tickets to, like the downtown, like you know, uh, big, you know or, you know, fireworks party, yeah, on the lawn the green right there and it all got canceled. My buddy, uh james, texted me at like three o'clock. It's like, hey, it's not official yet, but it's official.
Speaker 1:That was smart, because you would have probably left early. Where was it?
Speaker 2:at Auditorium Shores, the symphony playing over there, you know, and then we were going to watch fireworks From our mutual friend's house, from the W On the balcony.
Speaker 1:Dang dude. I bet they have a nice charcuterie board come out, but anyway, uh, all those fixings.
Speaker 2:So it was uh, because it was anyway. So the whole thing got canceled. Obviously. My friends came to town, we went down to the, we went to the brewery. I think uh, pine pine house brewery yeah, pine house, yeah, that was good that was cool. We hung out there a couple hours and then we went downtown and, just like you know, hung out at the balcony and just kind of looked to downtown. There was no fireworks, obviously, but it was still like kind of cool was it that rainy that they stopped it?
Speaker 2:it didn't, it was no, it's because all the ems and fire were all in curville, they sent yeah, but that was before everything happened no, it happened like the morning of the fourth of july oh so it was already half. All the floods happened like between. It was like 2 am the morning of the 4th of July.
Speaker 1:Oh, yeah, okay.
Speaker 2:So by that point, they had called all the EMS police fire it was all gone. They didn't and there was just no way to handle. You know that in downtown Plus it just was like a. It was a day of mourning.
Speaker 1:Yeah, a somber thing. Yeah, because they canceled the austin fc game on the fifth too because of it. Oh wow, yeah, they're like, and that makes sense. I mean this is like. Oh, yeah, you know so, but man, it was cool though, but you got some friends were in town from san francisco, and so they were their.
Speaker 2:Their son is going to ut next year and he's all fired up that's cool they're like. They're like total like san francisco, like year and he's all fired up. That's cool. They're like total San Francisco. He's from Davis, but they're really NorCal.
Speaker 1:I want you to describe what you're trying to figure out to me.
Speaker 2:I'm trying to figure out Texas.
Speaker 1:Do they like us, do they not like us? They love it. They love everything about us. Do they know we can say gay and retard now?
Speaker 2:And it's okay.
Speaker 1:They're fine with it. Well, I don't know. I mean, they deal with it.
Speaker 2:They deal with it oh man, I'm so full from that david bar. Yeah, I mean, you had half a david bar and you're you're killing it over here. But thanks, buddy, I appreciate it.
Speaker 1:Well, this is ozempic talking I don't know I'm not doing great on ozempic dude. I haven't lost any weight in a long time since my cut since you just need to stop eating yeah, I need to stop eating food.
Speaker 2:That'll do it just eat less food I, I, I swear to god ozempic proves my point and every trainer, good nutritionist out there like trying to like help people remember it's not like. Well, I ate vegan whole food. You know kale. Okay, how much should you eat?
Speaker 1:well, if you eat more calories of that than you burn, you're still gonna get ice cream all day, as long as it's under the calorie deficit. You can do 200 or 2000 calories of twinkies I mean, I've told you my original diet during covid was like three beers and like you did all that long.
Speaker 2:You just burned a zillion calories, oh man. The point is just eat less food bud. I will, but if you want to be super strong. You don't want to do that.
Speaker 1:I want to look cut.
Speaker 2:Can't I be super strong and cut Three, four episodes before this one?
Speaker 1:I know you said it, I know it was a whole, thing, it was a whole thing I'm going to my brother's lake house in a week. That'll be fun. Okay with our family, tell your brother, what's up, I will. He'll say, hey, alright love that.
Speaker 2:Hey, let's wrap this up 36 minutes in, we're probably we probably lost everybody. It's okay, I'll listen to it. Hopefully they stuck around for the 4th of man?
Speaker 1:I miss you. Yeah, I miss you too. I'm glad I can't wait to get out of summer and back to routine.
Speaker 2:We can see you in the week definitely awesome.
Speaker 1:Thanks so much for listening to dad, bods and dumbbells. My name is Mitch, I'm Bart.
