And it's just a matter of showing them how and the right steps to do it. So thanks for such a noble work and having me here. So excited.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. So why don't we start by you introducing yourself and sharing a little bit about the work that you do and who you are and the journey that has brought you where you are today.

SPEAKER_00

I'm Sydney Dubay, or how some people call me Coach Sid with two Ds. What I do essentially is that I elevate your health, wealth, and life. As a health coach, what I do is what I like to call I build superhumans. And what I'm trying to achieve is educate and empower people with things they can do to not blindly rely on the Western medicine, but take control of their health in naturally reversing their conditions, having more energy, getting better qualities recovery, being able to play with their grandkids, crawl on the floor, run after them, have endless energy, be more present with their loved ones, live a healthy life past 80, 100. That's what really drives me as a health coach. And that's what we're doing here.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you are speaking my language because that is the life that I personally want to live. So I know that this journey, this information that you just shared is going to be like most women are gonna want this. Um, I think a lot of women, I know I work with women as a therapist, and one of the things that I've noticed with therapy is that health, um, nutrition is so related to their mental health because so many of them share all these journeys that they have of blood sugar, you know, menopause, and just how interrelated nutrition and lifestyle is to their mental health. So I know that this is important. I know that more women need to hear this. So I'm really excited to have this conversation today.

SPEAKER_00

Right. And and like you said, what you've what you've seen in your patient is what I've seen in life as well. My personal journey along with my education has kind of led me to where I am, where I want to be able to give back to the community and especially focusing on women and getting them to a place where they're self-reliant and they're just not trusting on care from their family members as they get older. So I have a degree in food technology, which is not what my bachelor's is in. I have a master's in chemical engineering. So I do have that level of vision, not only to look at the food and nutritional aspect, but also to looking, also to look at the toxic toxin and the other aspects to detox your life. When you're a chemical engineer, the first thing you do is we you grab something, whether it's a skincare or a food, you're sitting sitting in the grocery store, you look at it, the first thing you do is you flip and you read the first three to four ingredients of the label. And if that's something your grandma doesn't recognize, won't approve of, or can't read, then you're done. So and then having kids was like an ultimate, that was like the PhD version education, where you as a religion, like when you're a food technologist and a chemical engineer, uh, your skin is your largest organ, FYI. So, you know, what you put in you, on you, everything matters. But when you have kids and your religion is and your education and your religion is to be able to provide your best to your kids, it's you look for anything and everything to avoid those toxins and like whether it's a lifestyle diet or mindset that could go into your future generation. So that was a PhD level journey in education for me.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm. That's things. Yeah, that's that's very true. And I think especially nowadays, it's toxins are so they're like everywhere. Everything that we eat, everything that we wear, I know it can be overwhelming. I know for me it becomes overwhelming with when you think about people online that are talking about don't drink this, don't put this on your skin, this is toxic, this is messing with your hormones, you know, it becomes so overwhelming. So I can understand how, as women, especially, this could be an area that we struggle with because sometimes it becomes so overwhelming that you don't even know like what should I eat, what should I put on my body, you know.

Why Alternatives Beat Blind Trust

SPEAKER_00

And modern civilization is very, very convenienced in your lifestyle based. So a lot of these toxins are hiding. You don't even know. Some people have for generations used a product, they just grew with that, they were born to that. So, how does fish know what's water? And it just continues, and then because of those patterns that continue through generations, then people start calling it genetic. Oh, it's a genetic thing. But I think it's more of the patterns and habits, our actions and choices. And we'll talk about the epigenetics as well, which is what is the science. It it's the science behind how we can choose.

SPEAKER_02

Great, great. Okay. So why don't we start with your journey? If we can, if you could take us back to that turning point. And for you, what was that aha moment where you realized that your body didn't just need a prescription, that you really wanted to take this alternate approach to your health and wellness?

SPEAKER_00

So, Keila, that's a great question because I really don't know how to define one aha moment. It's been my life has been full of those aha moments, like every single step. I remember so when I was growing up, we had access to the top-notch medical facilities, whether it's Western medicine. So I grew up in India, but we had access to top-notch western medicine facilities, medication hospitals, name it. Then Ayurveda, which is the ancient Indian medicine system or what I would call wellness system, and then homeopathy, which is actually comes from Russia, and but we had access to that as well. I can tell you one thing. I remember being very, very sick. I remember getting a lot of reaction and uh having cough and issues that just wouldn't go away. I would only get weaker if anything. But because we had access to other medicine systems, so my parents had the choice. Okay, my parents were if they were they were educated, so they did believe in modern medicine, but they also uh knew about the other medicine systems, so they always tried everything. I can't tell you, like except for maybe emergency medicine, none of the times I remember when uh Western medicine helped me cure something or reverse something or really heal me, it was mostly always Ayurveda or homeopathy. So from very childhood, and then I saw how when my dad passed away, that was big emotional awakening as to life is short. And how did this happen? He he was very strong, he only had mild mild asthma. And to not to make anybody feel bad about it, but it was doctors didn't catch and they accidentally thought it was TB. They gave him very strong, they overdosed him with very strong medication and how his organs failed one at a time. That was that was so uh not going too deep into technically, it was just an emotional awakening. Life is short, and you cannot just blindly rely on doctors. And and I also talk about this, that's why they're not called doctors of health, their degree is called doctor of medicine. So, yes, just uh Western medicine is great when it comes to emergency medicine, diagnosis, radiology, and surgical intervention, but we should just use it as a tool and keep the true control in our hands and uh weigh our options before we make our choices. And also preventive care. So it's it has its pluses, but then there's also a lot of drawbacks. And when I was, I remember this was before getting married, I had a fracture in my back, and so so the doctor didn't catch that. Okay, I went and saw the doctor, the doctor didn't catch that. He said, Oh, something looks off on the MRI. Two years later, when I went to another doctor, he caught that, and then he was like, He tried physical therapy, it wasn't working. He recommended me fusion surgery. Do you know what that means? Fusion means they they fuse two vertebras together by putting grafting, and then that bone takes two years to develop between, but then it freezes the movement between the two vertebras. And if there's any other issue, complication, or your body movement can lead to same damage progressing in the level above or level below. So it's a very, very aggressive way of treating that. I had a fracture and that's what I was recommended. I almost scheduled the surgery, and I remember asking them, hey, what happens if I get pregnant? And they're like, Well, we don't have any data, so we can't really say. And I personally spoke to many fusion patients after the surgery and they said we're in the same amount of pain. So their definition of success of surgery is only when the brone grafting is complete after you use. It does not mean that you'll be pain-free. So then I started looking at alternatives, and I went for instead of fusion, I went for a laser procedure where they just remove the pinch, the tiny, tiny piece of bone that was pinching on my sciatic nerve. Like if I had just blindly and accepted the prescription that was provided, you know, for surgery or whatever that was, I would have never looked around. I was told, and then there's so many multiple cases where I remember treating my daughter's pneumonia just at home with, you know, not even iuric stuff, home, home remedy stuff. And the doctor had a major pushback towards it. I remember treating her ear infections with just chiropractic care and making garlic oil at home. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis all of a sudden. And even though the blood test didn't prove it, they said this is what it is. I reversed it within two months. I I was in so much pain, I couldn't touch two fingers together, couldn't close the jar. And if I had just accepted yes, I have rheumatoid arthritis and I'm going to need medications, I wouldn't be here. Going through, I was told I have asthma. Oh, because your dad had asthma. I was like, no, it is a side effect of flu shot, I can tell because that's the last thing I did. And I struggled for two allergy seasons and then I third allergy season was gone. But I never took a medication and never took those inhalers or other pills. So if I hope that answers your question, my my journey has been full of aha moments. Today I live pain-free without any medications. I never took any medications, to be honest. I I just struggled through it. I always believed in myself. I I didn't let anybody else dictate my destiny. I didn't accept what they had in mind for me and the fate they prescribed me. So that's, I'm not saying this applies to everyone, but hopefully there's an inspiration, there's a lesson, there's something to take home as what they can apply into their lives.

SPEAKER_02

Absolutely. What a testament that is, because you have basically said that you did not give up or like give in to doctors because they make mistakes, like you said, or they don't see the whole picture all the time. And for you to like be able to advocate for yourself and to take that different approach of saying, no, I don't want to rely on modern medicine. I'm gonna find other alternatives. And you are you've came to the other side, which I think is really powerful because I think you're right. I think, I mean, I'm in my 40s and I personally have gone through these shifts where my energies have dipped low, right? And I am the same type of mindset that I'm not going to use medications, I'm not gonna, you know, go to the doctor so they can give me another pill, I'm gonna go to nutrition, I'm gonna, you know, try different meditations. Like even my own anxiety back in 2020 when we went through that craziness situation. My anxiety peaked. And, you know, the doctor wanted to put me on medication. And like you said, listen, there are times I know as a mental health therapist, I will never say that medicine is not the way to go because everyone's different. But for me, I tried it and I said to myself, I don't like how it makes me feel. I just don't like it. And instead, I decided to go and try meditation. I said, I'm gonna meditate and I'm gonna learn how to meditate and I'm going to give myself these different practices. And that honestly helped me in so many ways. But again, like what you're saying, it's that each person is different. And but also it's a reminder that it's not it's not just one way, or we can't just resign to say, like you said, I have arthritis and I'm screwed, and I'm just this is just the way I'm gonna be, because then you will stay that way, it'll get worse. You know, it takes people like you who can testify and say, like, no, this is what I experienced, and I decided to take this different approach, and it worked for me, and I'm doing so much better.

SPEAKER_00

And same applies to you, Keila. Being a therapist and being able to say no to medication, which is something you do all the time, and it's available right there, you can see the results in your patients, and being able to say no to that, that's that's very strong, very courageous, and very shows that you look beyond just that your own realm. So that's great. Yeah, thanks for sharing that.

SPEAKER_02

So if we could move on, is there a specific area that you feel would be very beneficial to talk about next before I go into any other questions that I may have?

SPEAKER_00

Well, so I wanted to discuss the epigenetics, but before that, I wanted to kind of question people's belief system. But through what we've been talking about, we've we've already kind of started questioning as to what through my journey, your journey, we've already been doing that. But I do want to say that uh conditions that we get diagnosed with 90% of the time are not a life sentence, they are just signals, right? Those those conditions are you uh so when they say a condition, they they say symptoms of that condition. But I'm gonna change that mindset. I'm gonna take that condition and call that condition a symptom or a signal. Those are reversible most of the time, so uh those are temporary, but the problem is if we start trying to treat that particular condition, okay, it's like trying to silence the fire alarm when the fire is still burning. So the bad news is you can't really treat the conditions, but the good news is root cause is always somewhere else. You may be seeing it as arthritis, you may be seeing it as a migraine, but it might be uh the gut inflammation, right? And some of the other things that are in your diet and lifestyle that are causing it. So that's the root cause. It's the food, it's that lifestyle. So root cause can be fixed, and eventually a condition and symptom will go away. A lot of times when we get a diagnosis or a condition prescribed by our when our doctor writes, okay, this is what you have. We feel like, oh my god, this is the end of the life, and this is exactly what I have to treat all my life. And we're not looking at the bigger picture and the actual root cause that's leading to this. And by ignoring it, we only delay the process. So that's one of the things I wanted to discuss. And a little thing into epigenetics. So epigenetics is the science of why I bring that up is it is we get our DNA, right? We can't change our DNA. But epigenetics is a science, and without going too deep into it scientifically, I just want to say it is the science that allows you to choose your gene expression. So we can turn on and off uh uh the genes uh just through our choices, daily choices and actions, right? And that's why a lot of times when when I said they call it genetics, right? Uh it's because those uh patterns have been progressing through generations. So that's exactly and it you can control uh that uh the effect of it by uh the kind of environment that you maintain in your household, right? And uh your the quality of health of your caregivers, whether it's your parents, grandparents, how they think, how they react to situations, how they get angry, right? Simple things like what kind of foods do they eat, how often do they eat, do they go work out, do they pay attention to some all of those things matter. So even after childbirth, we have the choice of turning on and off a particular gene just through the cho through through the choices we make. Like a diet, mindset, lifestyle, the three pillars that we'll talk about.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. When you are when you when you're talking about that, the one thing that sticks out to me is some of like my own ancestors. So like my grandmother, I ever since I remember her, especially older, like she's always been sick, you know, like she had all types of like I've never saw her like strong, you know what I mean? And there's a relative in also that she's in her 70s right now, and she's so sick. And you know, as when I were when I was younger, I remember in my early 20s, I remember thinking, that is my destiny, right? Because I remember I was translating for a senior center, and all of the seniors that were coming in for they were doing screenings for fall risk. All the seniors that were coming in again, they were I'm from Puerto Rico, so they were all Puerto Rican, they were Hispanic, and they were all sick, they had tons of medications, they had, you know, pains. And that was me saying, Oh my God, is that like my future? Right. Because I was young. I I just saw these are people that look like me, that are part of my race, and all of them are sick, all of them are medicated, and I remember. Feeling so like hopeless in a sense. And then here comes this older lady. She had to be like in her 70s. She was on no medications. She was energetic. She had this bright affect. And I remember looking at her. And a lot of these seniors walked from my housing project, not walked, but she did. So she said, you know, I walked here and it was like more, like two miles. And I remember saying, and she still sticks to my head. Again, this was in my 20s. I remember saying, that's what I want to be without. She gave me hope. She gave me hope because in that moment I was like, it is possible, it is possible to be in my 70s, be energetic, not be in medication. And that was like so exciting. So when you're talking about that, that's what sticks out to me of what we as individuals may think is possible because it's all we've saw, especially with our own parents and grandparents. But then it takes someone like that to just break that down and say no.

SPEAKER_00

No. Totally. And and you, I'm so glad you brought that up because, you know, one of the people I it just, you know, some images, it just like stays stick in your mind. I'm not saying my mom is unhealthy. She's 80 plus, she's very active. She can cook for everybody and for herself and feed many. But I remember I was in Hawaii, and then there was this beautiful tall lady who I was just like admiring her figure and her hair and how she was all dressed and selling this uh, you know, necklace of coconut seeds. And then I started chatting with her. There was this beautiful glow in her face, and I don't know if I asked her or what her age came up, and she was 90 plus, standing straight, working hard outdoors all day. And I was just like, oh my god. Like I would have mistaken her for someone in her early 50s. So, you know, it just like that was my I want to be like you when I'm 90. And a lot of times when I talk to my friends, and have it's very hard to detach yourself from these people when they're a part of your everyday life. It's very hard to detach yourself physically and mentally from those from the belief system you practically live in. When I speak to a lot of my friends, they have accepted their fate. They're like, oh, I'm 60 and I'm only on two medications. That's that's very good for 16. Like, who decided that scale? And they're like, Well, that's what's going to happen in retirement. And they they just don't think beyond. Look, life is not linear. Anything can happen to anybody tomorrow, right? But not having a vision, we often plan for failures by purchasing insurance, by you know, building enough wealth for you know when we pass away and other systems. But we have to also prepare for success. We have to have that vision that yes, I'm going to be healthy in my 80s, in my hundreds, what am I going to be doing? Where am I going to be going? And for that to happen, what do I have to do today? So it's it's it's your business, your project, how you decide your health. And I'm I'm so glad you shared that story because it just reminded me of that lady in Hawaii and how I want to look.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I think nowadays the people that I that like get my attention and get me excited is seniors who are at the gym lifting weights, seniors who are like going for their walks every day. Because again, part of like the people that I know like what's around me is not that, right? It's not, I don't really see seeing relatives exercising, especially older relatives, walking, going for walks and things like that. And I think that that is like a reminder to us that it is possible. Like you said, it's not what you're like in your genes, it's really like how you decide to live your life. And you can live the lifestyle that you want in order to feel energized and healthy, you know, and not feel like you have to be on five different medications and be sick only because you're like 60.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Gut Inflammation And The Three Pillars

SPEAKER_02

Awesome. Awesome. Can we also talk about the connection, like your gut and inflammation? Because I know that you specialize. Do you specialize in digestive health, or is that like part of your the work that you do?

SPEAKER_00

Correct. So I my specialty because of my personal journey and how much I know about that particular area, like over PhD level, I specialize in joint and arthritis gut-related issues, but these are all information-related conditions, right? So it has to it starts with, so there's mindset, there's lifestyle, but it primarily starts with their diet. And what what I it's not so in, you know, in short, shortly, we'll also be talking about the three pillars diet mindset and lifestyle. So a lot of things I will cover as a part of that discussion, but to kind of answer your question sugar, right? Sugar is an inflammation, cause of inflammation. It's it's one of the sources of inflammation. Then there's our lifestyle, sleep-related, then it's gluten. And it's it's not it's not gluten and wheat by design, it's how it's grown and the preservatives. So all of these things kind of accumulate, and if we do not take good care of our gut, so our gut has good bacteria, bad bacteria. That's one aspect of looking at it, right? But the basic core function of our gut is to take the nutrients out of the food, get the waste out, and supply it to the rest of the body. Now, if there's any issues with the assimilation of nutrients, with passing the waste, waste, rejecting the waste out of the system, or not getting enough nutrition, or there's blockers, all of these things result into there's something called ENS system, which is when and how your gut talks to your brain. So when you think you're hungry, it's your gut telling your brain to you know signal that. But it's the it's the bacterial culture that lives in your gut that does all the talking, whether you crave for the bad foods or good foods. So there's that there's that relationship and inflammation of bones and your joints, is it's it's a it's stemming all from gut, but if your if your joints and bones are more sensitive, that's going to manifest itself as arthritis. Right? If if let's say your so glaucoma and eye vision issues, those also come from sugar. That's also information related. There's many mechanisms of your body manifesting based on where your weakness lies. All of these are related to information. So everything starts with your diet mindset and lifestyle, which is the three pillars. What so what I want to do is I want to break down each one of these areas and I want to take the listeners to what they can do, what they should not be doing, first of all, and what they should be doing to be able to fix these things and hopefully broaden their vision as to where they can look. That would be amazing.

SPEAKER_02

Let's do it.

SPEAKER_00

All right, so we'll like like I said, the first pillar, I am gonna look at I'm gonna be looking at my list here. Yeah. Diet where first we remove the toxins from the diet. So we'll talk about what not to do. And with our diet, so uh let me let me ask you this question, Keila. If you go to gym 12 times in a year, 12 times in a year, do you think you will uh you will start seeing it in your muscle tone? No, no, right? But if you do it every day, even if you don't want it to work, do you think you will start seeing the muscle tone in your muscles grow? Yes, yes, so anything and everything that you do every day works like medicine, it it will do what it's supposed to do. So, so all the toxins we're consuming over a period of time are going to accumulate. That's how the whole allergy system works. So, inflammation-causing foods. I already mentioned like sugar, gluten, and there's there's so I'm not saying don't eat sweet stuff. There's fruit, there's dates, there's so many other, there's also jaggery, which is a more raw form of sugar, which comes from the sugarcane juice. So just be mindful of that. And like I mentioned already, it's not gluten that's the culprit, it's not wheat that's the culprit, it's how it's grown and the pesticides and the fertilizers used that have that are wreaking a havoc on everybody's immune system, digestive system, gut health, bones, name it. Then what not to do is also caffeine, alcohol, and energy drinks. We think alcohol, we we take alcoholism seriously, and we have these organizations like triple A, Alcohol, sorry, is it AA or AAA Alcohol Anonymous? But we this entire generation, the biggest, the biggest addiction is technically caffeine. Teenagers, we start out teenagers, like nobody, no one will say, Oh, don't go to Starbucks, but they'll say don't smoke. That we're educated enough, right? But caffeine and I don't want to go into too much details, but it leaches out the essential minerals from our bones. It does really bad stuff to your gut, anxiety, blood pressure, spike, just just name it. There's like so many multiple sleep and recovery. There's so much, and I can't stop talking about it. But another thing, another thing we need to get rid of from our diet is unnecessary chemicals, and those come from processed foods. Anything that's packed, the way nature didn't make it, like even when you grind wheat and you convert it into flour, that's called processing. But then we we choose which battery to fight. Like we're not gonna install a mill in the backyard and grind the wheat into flour. So you you choose how much processing you allow in your foods, but just instead of having the minced meat from the market, getting minced meat, get more raw form of meat. That's closer to go for go for places where they will chop it in front of you, just as an example. And the processed foods are mostly packed with things that can elongate their shelf life. So there's preservatives in it, there's added fragrances, there's flavors, there's many sort of not just taste-making and preservatives, but other ingredients like emulsifiers, just to be able to bring the food to you in the way, shape, and form, and color where you will enjoy. There's a lot of research that goes into it. Then the fourth element of what not to do for diet is one thing you can start eliminating these things is by detoxing your body. There's many forms of detox. And one one form the main form of detox that I would recommend to everybody is parasite cleanse or colon cleanse. You know, it one you know, one does the other thing, it's pretty much identical. But do your research, not everyone's body is the same. And if you are not convinced, please check with your medical provider as to what's where to start. Another form of detoxing is fasting. There's so many different types of fasting. There's water-only fast, there's waterless fast, there's daytime fasting, there's overnight fasting. This now, then there's extended fasting of 20, like 24 hours, 48 hours, three days plus. And then there's also intermittent fasting, which is the easiest tool. Easiest tool to use. So there's intermittent fasting levels are I think 12 is a little too low, but I'll start with 14, 16. The easiest thing you can do is have your dinner early, skip your breakfast, or have it late. So that's that's what not to do and how to decide.

SPEAKER_02

Can I ask a quick question about that? So, as far as the fasting, their intermittent fasting, would you say that people need to do that what, like once a week, twice a week, or daily?

SPEAKER_00

Like what was what was your recommendation? It depends on what they're trying to accomplish. If the if what they're trying to accomplish is detox from a particular ingredient, just detox it, just eliminate it from your diet. For example, I I only drink caffeine twice a week, and I have my days. I mean, there's there's exceptional weeks where I do end up consuming it more than that, but I have my routine figured out because if I go beyond that, I can feel it in my ovaries, you know, that level of caffeine circulating in the body and me waking up earlier than I want to. So my recovery is not happening. Even when the people think, even those who think that okay, they are not sensitive to caffeine because they can have a cup of coffee and tea and go right to bed, it doesn't wake them up. They just, their body is not sensitive, so they are not getting the right signal, but they're still seeing the impact through anxiety, through not getting enough sleep, through waking up in the middle of the night, whatever that may be, and there's so many things. But to answer, to go back into your question, that's one way of doing it. Then if you can, there's no harm in intermittent fasting every day. And when you can't, like on weekends, you're with family and you want to have breakfast and everything is okay, go for it. But again, if intermittent fasting is if it's not letting you, like for example, you go to CrossFit every day and your body needs a certain amount of protein intake, but you're not able to give yourself provide yourself that much protein, now that's a bigger risk. Now you're losing your hair and you're breaking down more muscle than building. So either you kind of reduce your workout a bit, or you, if you're not able to provide, give your body that much protein in the two meals or three meals that you will consume after that intermittent fasting, then you'll have to make your intermittent fasting shorter or stick a few days accordingly. So it really depends on what you're trying to accomplish. And those who are trying to lose weight, intermittent fasting every day is the easiest. Like I lost after I stopped nursing my son, I lost 25 pounds in a month without doing anything. Just didn't feel like eating in the morning because now had extra food that I was used to consuming.

Fasting Guidance That Actually Fits

SPEAKER_01

Great. Thank you for clarifying that.

Real Food Protein Fat Hydration

SPEAKER_00

All right, so after discussing what not to do, let's go into what to do about the diet. We try to go back to real food. Like I mentioned, if your grandmother, if if the if you can't, if you don't understand the label, okay, if you can't read if it's a chemical, then don't do that anyway. But go back to real food, cooking at home. When I say cooking at home, that is so essential. People do not realize digestion doesn't start when the food reaches your stomach. It starts when you it engages the full sensory spectrum when you touch your food, when you smell it, when you put it in your throat, and you're like, oh my god, this is so good, tastes so good. And when it goes to your stomach, then it starts getting broken down, and then that's where the nutrition absorption starts. But it really starts here, here and all engaging all the senses. I remember when my daughter was little and she, for example, so she was like, Oh, I don't like avocados. And my son was like, Oh, I don't like eggs. You know, the the trick I used on them, and nobody taught me this, but I don't know, I just learned from my experimentation. I'm pretty sure other moms have also tried this. I would just be like, Hey, uh, sweetie, can you please come help me in the kitchen? And I would ask her to prepare glacamole with avocados. I'm like, you don't have to eat it, just just just help me out. And within two days, she started enjoying avocados. And now she's like, Oh my god, I can't live without avocados. So, you see what I'm saying? Like, how you kids are so they are such beautiful things. You learn so much about life just from watching your kids grow and doing things with them. So, yeah, my kids taught me that, right? Technically, all right. Next one is healthy proteins, healthy fats and proteins. We so what incorporating a lot, like if if you are having nothing but pasta for your meal that has that doesn't have enough protein and doesn't have enough good fat, let me tell you that. So focus on protein and fat, and there's a lot of reasons which I'm about to share with you. Okay, if you have a good amount of protein and fat in your diet, A, it keeps your sugar cravings low. You don't feel like because it keeps you full for a longer time, you don't feel like snacking. So you're eliminating bad habits right there by getting enough protein and fat in your diet. Protein in combination with workouts will build your muscle tone. A lot of times, like you work with older patients, right? How they how they become bedridden is by accidentally slipping, falling, and breaking their hip bone or some other fracture, right? Yeah, what can prevent you from that is having the right muscle tone. So when you and that, like when you fall, it cushions the fall. But B primarily by having that muscle tone and that control of your movement where you don't just lose, slip, fall, and you're able to protect yourself. So, you know, this was a little bit too futuristic, but it matters at any age, absolutely, right? So don't ignore building your muscles and fat a lot of people like oh fat, you know, but but fat is like let me give you the biggest what should I say, lollipop. Fat is so essential for looking younger, longer, because our so we we when we look at fat, we're thinking, oh, you know, we'll gain weight, but that's not true. Fat has so much role to play in our body. It's and and let me give you an analogy first. So if you have ever firsthand curdled the milk to make cheese from it, so when you when you take milk, you let's say you add if it's lukewarm and then you add some lemon drops, what'll happen? It'll separate out, right? But the higher the fat content of milk, the harder it is to separate it out. Just use that analogy. If you have good fat content in your body, I'm not so there's two different types of fat. One is subcutaneous fat under your skin, which is what I'm talking about, which is good fat. If you don't have bad habits and lifestyle, it doesn't deposit between your organs, which is a bad kind of fat called visceral fat. If you work out often and you're consuming a lot of fat, it's going in the right places. If it's not showing up, that's okay, but it's doing the work. So, so that's that's my take on fat. And I want to say that every single cell in our body is surrounded by a membrane of fat, right? All the hormones like estrogen, all the good hormones are controlled by fat, cholesterol. It's important. So we are built of fat and then 70% water. So that leads to so okay, if you don't have enough fat, oxidation or aging will be premature. All right. Now, going back to that 70% water, the third and the last essential of what to do right with your diet is hydration. And when I say hydration, I don't just mean water, it means getting it to your system with the right minerals, meaning electrolytes. There are four main electrolytes like calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, and then there's chlorides and phosphate as well. But these are so easily found in nature. I am not at all hinting you to go grab a Gatorade, supply electrolytes like that. No, I mean okay, that's calcium. It's so easily available milk, dairy, yogurt, bananas, sesame seeds, spinach, magnesium, almonds. Like that's the easiest source, and then there's other leafy greens and foods that you can look up. Potassium, again, yogurt, bananas, potatoes. And my favorite one is coconut, coconut water. Oh my god. Don't go get the coconut water in a tetra pack. Go get a real coconut.

SPEAKER_02

I've had it, I've had it in Puerto Rico, I've had it in the Caribbean. It's like the best. The best.

SPEAKER_00

The best. Every time I go for hot yoga, I cut open a coconut before and pack it in my little thing along with water. And that's that's my electrolyte. So it's it's so good. Yeah. And it's not as easy. So if you go to my social media, I even have some videos that where I show how to break it open. It's it's very simple. Just just you're just Have to have good muscle tone and good control over your cutting and using the knife. But so that's that's potassium, and then there's sodium, which comes from sea salt, and like you can you can also get it from seafood. So so it's just so easy to these things are not very difficult, but those are primarily the diet aspects where I'll start with. And the rule to remember is if it comes in a packet, question it. If it grows from the ground, from soil, trust it. And if you don't have any questions related to that, Keila, then I'd like to move to the second pillar, which is mindset.

SPEAKER_02

I just have a comment that I think that this is like so valuable. Um, I think anyone who's listening to this is receiving so much value from this alone because I think this is information that we a lot of us just don't know. Like a lot of the information that you just shared, like a lot of us just don't know, right? It's one of those things where if you don't know, then you aren't able to make those choices. But by you just sharing the information. I'm hoping that anyone listening to this is really understanding how really doing those different types of changes, like like you just said, like you don't need to get a vitamin, you don't need to, you know, buy special things. Like our food is so it has everything that we need. Um, but again, like by us, like I think for anyone listening to this who's inspired by this, because it is something that like I'm expired, inspired, and like it just makes me feel really good to know that this information is like to know this, right? To know that we can get all these, like just with the electrolytes. I think that's powerful, you know. I don't think I've ever heard anyone like describe it that way, which I think is incredible because like you said, all you have to do is eat some eat some different fruits and veggies, different and get all the minerals that you need. So I just want to make that comment that I think a lot of us do. Thank you. Thank you.

Mindset Shifts And Meditation Tools

SPEAKER_00

Thanks for sharing that. I'm so excited because when you know, when it's there's one thing knowing is one thing, being able to share is another thing. But the third part is when you actually when the actual communication is happening where I'm saying something and the person in front of me who's listening can understand and relate to it. That's so thank you so much for sharing that. I really hope all the listeners can get the same level of value from it as well. So, and and a lot of it also comes from having an open mind, and we're going to talk about that also. So, next part, the next pillar of mindset is what have you been feeding your mind? What have it have you been believing in? What do you think is possible for you? Right? Because if if like we've already discussed this, if somewhere deep down you've already accepted, then it's very hard to break out of that because your your belief is going to impact your intention, is going to impact how you show up and your actions. So, so this runs in my family. Oh, this is just age, I'll manage it. Those, those are the things that I'm saying we need to shift our mindset a little bit and get from the victim mindset to making the right choices for epigenetics and switching on the right gene expression by by changing our mindset to we are the managers of our environment, and we have control of our health through our choices. So just a little shift, and we've already spoken about that. Now, what practically works? So going into the actual actionable steps, first thing to do is to start noticing your internal dialogue, right? How you oh, I'm such a fool, oh, I'm such a failure. Now, those are just examples, but you you get the point of oh, I'm just weak. No, so question that, question yourself, and just assuming, oh, it's irreversible, this is permanent. Question those things. If you have to, I know if you are going through a particular condition, things are not going to change overnight, right? But the a big part of you is going to have to start believing that one day they will. You'll have to start believing whatever you're doing every day you're going to do, first of all, you have to be there for yourself. You have to promise yourself, look, I irrespective of what happens, I'm going to invest myself 100% in this direction so I can be XYZ free. Right? So being with yourself, providing you yourself that if you have to write down, use affirmations, put a vision board like I have my 10 commandments right here. If whenever I feel like I'm distracted, or why do I have to do this? Do I have to do this? Always look at these 10 commandments and go, it's not a part of this, I'm not going to do this. It's yeah, that's what it is. Sometimes you have limited energy, but even when you think you have a lot, the key is by keeping all the toxins and the unnecessary stuff away, saying no is the biggest key. So that's one thing. Then another big step is to stop outsourcing your health completely, right? Just we we already talked about this, relying blindly on Western medicine or any particular care that you're getting from different systems. Take control, study, educate yourself. You are going to question the doctor, you're going to question why this, why not that, and how else you're not just going to take any prescriptive doctor recommends a steroid shot. Ask the right questions. See if it's important. What are some of the other ways? What have other people done? Go look up, just go type on YouTube. Hey, look up things like I cured my, for example, if you have rheumatoid arthritis, look up things like how I cured my rheumatoid arthritis. No, I'm not saying everything out there is reliable. A lot of there is there's a lot of junk out there. So you have to be careful, and that's where health coaches come into picture. I'm not a doctor, I'm not going to write your medication, I'm not a nutritionist either. I can help you come up with a diet plan, but I have that wisdom where you can question what you can reject, what you can add, and I can give you options, multiple options, and help you with everything. So just keep that in mind. And then a third is to, we've already discussed some of that through diet, but eliminating toxins for mindset looks different. That means people around you. The news over stimulation through whether it's social media or news you listen to or stock market. Some people have a habit of being in front of the news channel like 24-7, and they just okay, we're not gonna get into that, but that's a big source of anxiety, they just don't understand. They're like, oh, they're on top of everything, like they have to be 100% of the time updated. Are you serious? But anyway, so just because that really controls who you are becoming. So try to identify and eliminate that noise and stress that's not needed. And then what you have mentioned, you chose meditation instead of medication. So that's the fourth part where you learn to clear your mind, listen to yourself, your inner voice, your intuition, what your body is trying to communicate to you, and train your subconscious. Because right now, you if you are too distracted and you just uh And I'm not talking about I'm talking about everybody, I'm not talking about somebody who's in pain only. We often have a habit of uh taking our lifestyle and then just going on like an autopilot mode. So what where meditation helps is where it lets you talk to yourself, it lets you take a break, it let once you clear your mind. Right now you have your subconscious brain is being trained by what you do, but that's meditation is how you flip the switch, where you take your subconscious brain, you feed it the or request, or however you communicate with it and you program it to let it do the work, and then you see all those things manifest in your actions. So that's where meditation really I feel is very, very useful. I'm not talking about manifestation, but it's where you can quiet down your conscious brain and start programming, reprogramming your subconscious brain to achieve your health goals faster and the way you want to see it happen.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So, and do you have anything to add, Keila? Because I want to go into the third pillar of lifestyle.

SPEAKER_02

But if you have any experience to share, it's everything that I believe in myself, everything that you have just reported. It's what I also share with my own clients. So I just wanted to just confirm and validate that everything that you just said is just like spot on. I think these are absolute jewels, like diamonds that people are getting today because this is it's so true. I mean, what you believe, right, you become. Um, our self-talk is absolutely important. And like, I think the most important thing that you were saying is like question everything, like question professionals. You know, as a therapist, I tell my clients too like, I'm just gonna share my own experience. I'm gonna give you suggestions, we're gonna, but you don't have to agree with me. You can totally disagree with me because that's important too. So I think that we have been so conditioned to believe that professionals have all the answers and that we can't question them. And they and that's and that's absolutely you know false. So I think that that's important for people to understand that. Like one thing that comes up to my mind when you're talking about this. I don't know if you know Dr. Joe Dispenza and his work. I've heard of him. He basically was a higher blessing. Yes, yes, he reads the book. I have read his book. Oh my god, yes, and he did that, he did exactly that. He healed his back because he got hit by a truck. They told him also like this is the only way they're gonna be able to stay walking is by doing the surgery. And he said that I'm not doing that. And he decided to use meditation to heal his back. And to this day, that's his work. His whole work is helping people with chronic diseases and illnesses to use meditation. So when you're talking, that's what came up to me of like, here's another testament that we can take control by really, really focusing on the way that we think about ourselves and our world. So true.

Lifestyle Toxins Hiding At Home

Daily Rhythm For Better Recovery

SPEAKER_00

Gila, have you ever seen these workshops where they treat migraine on the spot, like in headaches, just by just by focusing on that particular area, identifying how big the pain area is, how deep it is, what's the shape, and just focusing. What the only thing that they're doing is they're letting they're quieting down the entire system, reducing the noise, and just focusing on that area. Your body knows how to heal, they're not doing anything else. Just yeah, just be quiet and putting an intention into uh listening to your body, and your body is a self-healing machine. That's why I love to use the word superhumans. We just every time we the thing is like I was gonna give a talk and I was talking to the host, and she said, Well, instead of superhuman, can you use something more relatable? But that right there is the problem. As a civilization, we've come so far from believing that we have those powers. Like when we when we hear the word superhuman, we you we imagine a monk who can live past 100 as though we can't. We imagine a pro-athlete breaking the world record as though not everybody else can you know attempt that, or like a Marvel superhero with superpowers. But that's the whole point of me trying to make people believe in their own healing powers and capabilities. I have read one of his books and I can't remember what it's called, but I remember any every few months I go back and listen to his chapter number 11 and where he talks about quantum physics and how that's one of the forms of meditations that I uh actively use. So thanks for bringing that up. That's very powerful. I think everyone should use read his book. And if they have any chronic illnesses, that's one of the workshops he conducts, could be really powerful and useful. And then that brings us to the third pillar, which is lifestyle. So your body is always listening, not once a week, not once a day, like always. You cannot fool your own self, you cannot negotiate with your own self. So the thing, the simple things that you can do and what to avoid, and again, going back to toxins, but now we're in the lifestyle pillar. So let's find the toxins first. That's very interesting, okay? And a lot of people I talk to do not know that yes, this is possible, a possible toxin. Kitchen. Let's start with the kitchen. So, not just food, but also cookware, not just Tupperware and plasticware, but the actual cookware you're cooking. Most of the lighter cookware, even if it's ceramic coated, are made of aluminum. Now, if that top layer is peeling off, what's gonna get into your food? And I'm not gonna go into what aluminum can do. The simplest things is Alzheimer's and a lot of cognitive uh disorders, but that's one thing. Antimony. A lot of air fryers have antimony, which can cause autism and ADHD. And I'm um don't quote me on that, but it is related to some of those disorders. So pay attention to that. If the non stick coating is peeling off of your cookware, it's going in your food. The plastic cutting boards, like plastic cutting boards, the plastic is going in your food, whether or not you believe it. When you use wooden cut cutting boards, most of the bamboo cutting boards have joints and glue in between. So go for a full solid wooden cutting board, and my favorite is marble. It doesn't, it doesn't take away the life of knives, trust me. I've been using it for over 15 years now, and I still have the same knives. Things like those the soaps and dishwashing that dishwashers, the detergents you use. Those some of those soaps and detergents you use to wash your utensils, they're very fragrant. So that's one aspect of, but also in the dishwasher, when you open that that you know, the smell that comes out, be careful. It when it gets hot and it's that powerful of a smell, you're inhaling all that, you're ingesting into your system, it's directly impacting and doing whatever it's supposed to do. But a lot of times, like when we use dishwasher with when we do the dishes with our hands, use gloves instead. Because when the water is warm and it goes straight, skin is our largest organ. Yeah. So try to use eco-friendly, fragrance-free products. And now, another place is our home outside the kitchen. In and around your home, the chemicals, the sprays, the fragrances, including mists and candles, a lot of those are artificial unless you went for a natural product. Laundry detergents, fragrant laundry detergents, and those dryer sheets, those are big nuisance. People just don't know. They wreck a heavy on your hormones, acne, uh, the clothes you wear. For example, you know, all the yoga pans from the top-notch brands don't have a single strand of natural fiber. They're mostly made of 100% synthetic chemicals. That's what I am, a chemical engineer. It all comes from petroleum, it comes from crude. All of those hydrocarbons are woven into, you know, polymers like nylon, which turn into those coals. So, what happens is let me let me tell you a little bit about how the chemicals are produced. When plastics and polymers are produced, they need a lot of additives. And these additives do not bind to the molecule. So there's a nylon strand, but over its throughout its life, it's going to keep leaching those chemicals that are not chemically bound to its strand. They're just physically there on it. So those things keep leaching into our body when we go work out and we get hot and sweaty, our pores are open and absorbing all of those. So your clothes. That's another place. Now let's go to another area of our home, which is bath. Like I said, skin is our largest organ. And we we use skincare brands, beauty supplies, makeup. What's the base compound that's used? A lot of times, like it's always a hydrocarbon. Even things like Vaseline that we always grew up from very childhood, it's made of petroleum wax. Go for go for products that are made with beeswax instead. I would go and purchase it from I so I started making like my son used to eat everything we put on him, so I had to be very careful of what I'm feeding him technically. And I started making everything at home, all the skincare products. But I understand it's not very cost-effective, and time is very like when kids are little, that's one of the things you want to have is most time for them, not away from them. So you can get it from farmers market where you have better control of ingredients, you can ask the right questions, you can ask them to customize a batch for you. So that's another way where you can kind of look at some of the areas in your home to get rid of toxins. Now, what to do when it comes to lifestyle? And and these are very simple high-level things I'm gonna go throughout today, but obviously, there's so much more you can do. So let's start with the morning. How do we respect the natural circadian rhythm of nature? Is we start in the morning, get some sunlight for the IR benefits because the morning and evening sun are high in IR, infrared. People are treating their vision, they're correcting their vision using IR at it's 678 nanometers. That's the wavelength. So it's get out, get the light, get sun, hydration before caffeine. Avoid caffeine if possible, get some movement in the first like first half of the day. During the day, work out and slowly build your way up to HIIT or strength training. That's the goal. And two things that matter the most is consistency and discipline. So if you can't do it every day of the day, that's fine because recovery is when truly you're building and putting your body back together, it's in the repair mode. So if you just work out twice a week and third day you do a cardio, like every other day you do something, that's good enough. And you can take a week, a break on the weekends. Just start somewhere. Get 30 minutes of daylight at least. If you've done that in the morning, great. Avoid stimulants like energy drinks and caffeine. We already spoke about people who think they're not sensitive to caffeine, they just don't know their body's not signaling them. So no coffee after 2 p.m. ideally. In the evening, a few necessary things is no sugars, no sugars after 5 p.m. Carbs just contain how much carbs you're taking. So sugars are the part of carbs, but that's a different caca issue. Very few carbs. So don't overdo fruit after 5 p.m. Because that's going to stimulate you. Go for an evening walk if possible. Dim your lights, eliminate screens, don't use white light. Even the ones that they call daylight, they have the white light or the blue light component, which is extremely harmful for your bones, your skin, your hair, your eyes, everything. But especially after 7 or 8 p.m., get rid of all daylight or white light. Just use, ideally if possible, incandescent yellow bulbs that calms down your nervous system and aligns your body with the night nature's circadian rhythm and helps you get ready for the night. And sleep in a dark room, no scrolling after 9 p.m., avoid screens, including TV, cell phone, laptop, and most importantly, build a routine, right? Try to be in bed and out of bed at the same time and allow your body to go through what it's supposed to. So by every hour of night, our body repairs a different system and organs. If you miss that sleep between the latest you have to be in bed, ideally, is 10. If you miss between 10 and 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., you are missing out on some of those benefits. So that completes the three pillars. And uh if you have any comments, questions, anything to add, we can do that, and then I can bring it all together and summarize. I want to leave the listeners with the word Kia and what it stands for to get their healing started. Yeah, yeah, great.

SPEAKER_02

Wow. I feel like what stood out to me was clothing because I've heard of plastic and you know cooking wear, but like clothing, when you talked about the clothing, I honestly had no idea that that could be a thing. So that really is eye opening for me. And I just think that overall, I know that this was a lot of information, especially with the environmental. Stuff that can feel overwhelming. So I can understand why, as individuals, sometimes this is an area that we might have the most trouble with. Now, what I thought I think this is great. I think everything you've mentioned is so important. And do you happen to have anything that you give out to anyone with like this information that you've just discussed? Because I'm thinking this is great, but I'm sure a lot of people are gonna want to probably have something, like something that they can turn to to really like start making some of these changes.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes. Thanks for asking that question. So if you my website is coachsid.com. I'm not sure if you see it right or if it's flipped. So coachsid with2ds.com, you can scroll to the bottom and go to my social media and just DM me through any one of my, or you can even reach out to me through my website. You can schedule help on a call too. But if you just DM me your email, I can the easiest thing what we discussed was for the first pillar is diet. I can email you my list of superfoods. So that would be a great start to anybody's health. Just for the listeners, I know you can go and buy it from my website, but if you DM me your email ID and you mention this podcast, she can heal, I will send you free of cost my list of superfoods. So that's one thing I can do. And Kila, another thing I'm doing is especially for women who are struggling with their health while going through financial difficulties. And if any of the listeners know of any other friends or women who are going through wealth and health, both difficulties, then I'm opening three spots. So I'm I'm looking for three women. I think I already have one. So I have two spots open for women I'm going to select and just DM me again. Reach out to me through my social media or text me or my website. I would like to learn what you're going through. And if I can help you, then I'll be giving away three one-on-one sessions that are 60 to 90 minutes long. Be prepared to change yourself, come prepared with homework. So that's what to expect. But it's not some surface level advice, it's real coaching. We're gonna get into the weeds of how you can start the process of healing, Keila, mainly.

The KIA Framework And Closing

SPEAKER_02

That's awesome, amazing. Yes, we will definitely add all your information into the show notes so that everyone can absolutely take advantage of that. So thank you so much for sharing that. All right, so as we wrap up today's episode, I want to take Kia.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I want to just bring up Kia and uh so remember if you forget everything else, just remember the word Kia, like the car company, car maker. K stands for knowledge, that's about the mindset, about what you believe in. So you have to first start helping yourself with believing in yourself that believing change is coming, you just have to work and find a way towards it, but it's coming. So K stands for knowledge in Kia. Second is I intention, right? Once you know and you believe in something, you are going to start uh making the right uh decisions. Your intentions are going to change. Now, first you believe that it wasn't even possible, but now you know that okay, this is something that can heal. Now your intentions are going to be okay, no, I'm not gonna take the medication. I think I'm going to instead try to go for a walk, or your intentions are going to change us and your priorities will switch. And then third is you have to follow it, obviously, by actions. When I say a care knowledge, intention, action. By a for action, I mean I don't just mean doing it once every so often. Action, like it's an umbrella word for capturing if you have to make a timetable, make that. Have that somehow bring that consistency and discipline into picture where sporadic actions are not going to cut it. Having the right intentions, just believing is not going to cut it. It's you'll have to fall with actual consistency and discipline in your actions and choices. So that's all. That pretty much wraps up what I wanted to leave the listeners with.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's a great ending. And I know I am completely so inspired because I know I lead a pretty, you know, healthier lifestyle, but I think everything you just mentioned is just again that encouragement, that inspiration, that motivation for us to look at our life and really identify, you know, what are some areas that you know Coach Sid had mentioned that I can really begin to, you know, make those changes in. So I know again, completely inspired and encouraged by this conversation. Everything that you've talked about today was absolutely great. And I think so many women are gonna get so much value. I know I have gotten so much value from you. So I just want again thank you for your time. Thank you for being here. Thank you.

SPEAKER_00

I I really want to say thank you for building this platform for people to be able to share such things and inspire each other. And if I haven't changed anything, at least I inspired one life today with you. So thank you.

SPEAKER_02

I hope that all of you do the same because I think these are the conversations we all need to hear, listen more to get that information because I think a lot of it we just don't know.
