From Prison to Purpose: Sherri Keenan's Journey of Healing and Transformation
In this heartfelt episode of Yogi and The BeachMan, hosts Jim and Rick welcome Sherri Keenan, a trauma-informed yoga teacher, Reiki master, herbalist, and the creative force behind Wild Woods Goods. Sherri opens up about her remarkable life journey, from her roots in South Dakota to her transformative experiences in Florida and beyond. She shares how practices like yoga, belly dancing, and hula hooping helped her overcome personal challenges, including significant weight loss and a life-changing 10-month prison sentence for cannabis-related charges. Sherri reflects on the profound lessons learned during her incarceration, including humility and bravery, shaped by Lakota ceremonies and community.
The conversation dives deep into Sherri’s holistic approach to healing, emphasizing mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. She discusses her work as a trauma-informed yoga instructor, creating safe spaces for others through restorative classes, grief groups, and sister circles on Florida’s beaches. Sherry also touches on her herbalist craft, sharing how she makes everything from deodorant to tea at home, embracing a DIY lifestyle rooted in intention and sustainability.
With raw authenticity, Sherri recounts the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Morgan, and how it has fueled her mission to help others navigate trauma.
